Wow, a fabulous addition to the series. This author is very good at writing a really good romance, but also weaving intrigue, suspense, mystery and action into the story. The heroine in this story is clever and strong.
The story has many levels and twists and turns which always makes for a good read. I cannot stress enough how good this series by author Jane Henry is and how you should start reading it asap.
Officer Zach Williams is not only Beatrice’s boyfriend, he’s her Dom. After receiving an invitation to her youngest cousin Chantilly’s wedding, Zach agrees to go with her since he doesn’t want her driving alone. Now that she’s invited him, Zach will know she’s not just a yoga teacher who lives in a studio apartment in NYC. He’ll meet her parents, see where she comes from, who she was. Is she ready to share everything with him? This has been a hard fought, emotional journey for Beatrice, Dianna’s best friend, and Zach. Their S/m relationship is tumultuous at the best of times, but the scenes between them are beautiful. Jane Henry gives us a story so poignantly filled with drama, angst, mystery, dominance, submission, fear, and love. Each character, flaws and all, are so personable I felt like I knew them personally. “Safeguard” is an integral part of the “Doms of NYC” series and gave this reader a closer look at this BDSM family and their love for each other.
I absolutely adored the love and mutual respect the 2 main characters had for one another. Action, steamy, intense and so good. Gunnar & Jenna did an amazing job narrating but, then again they always do an awesome job!
The second book in the NYC Dom series and it can be read as a standalone. You will get more enjoyment if you have read the first one.
This book features around Bea and Zack. What I loved about Bea is that she choose her own path and does things that make her happy. Zack is an amazing guy. Loyal, patience, strong and caring.
He and Bea fit perfectly together and complement each other really well. What I also loved about them, is that the are not perfect, they make mistakes, just like anyone else. They have doubts and struggles about themselves and their relationship.
It is a wonderful story which kept me glued to my kindle. It was also wonderful to see how tobias and Diana from the first book were doing.
I am hoping there will be an another book.
Jane Henry’s “Safeguard” is book 2 in the new NYC Doms series and we get to see Zach and Beatrice in action together. If you’ve read book 1, then you know that Zach is one of NYPD’s finest and Beatrice is bestfriends with Diana and both are members of Verge, the newest bondage club in NYC.
Likes: I really enjoyed the story’s opening as we drop into a scene between the couple. Their chemistry is fantastic, as is the romance, and I really enjoyed the mystery element. Dislikes: I really didn’t like Beatrice’s bratty behavior, as I’m not a fan of brats, but I loved how Zach handled her behavior, so that goes both ways.
This is turning out to be an enjoyable series and while each story stands as a standalone, it doesn’t hurt to start with book 1.
Suspense filled, emotional, HIGHLY recommended MUST READ romance with some BDSM and a lot of romance and loving included!
OMW, Author Jane Henry has done it again! Her newest offering “SAFEGUARD” (NYC Doms Book 2) is absolutely amazing, and I am going to have to read it again because I am already half in love with Zach, this novel’s hero. Then again, I don’t really know why that surprises me, as Henry’s fans already know, she writes the most amazing character-driven love stories on the planet! Her prose is easy to read, and so descriptive, that this reader can see the places, events, and characters vividly described within the pages of her latest novel, “SAFEGUARD”. Add to that mental picture the richly-developed yet realistic characters Henry always offers, and it becomes easy to understand why this reader/reviewer is claiming that “SAFEGUARD” is going to be a major hit. But that hit status will be less about the masterful characterization or her brilliant prose. “SAFEGUARD” will be a hit because of the intense and compelling plot weaved into those vivid places visited by those rich characters by means of that brilliant prose. The plot of “SAFEGUARD” kept this reader focused and unable or unwilling to deal with real life (RL) until the story came to its close. When a book can take a reader so far out of RL that one is unwilling to heed the call to return, that is the standard of a GREAT read, an OUTSTANDING story, a Jane Henry classic. Author Henry is also known for mixing in a little bit of BDSM and a whole lot of suspense into her tales and “SAFEGUARD” continues that trend. Please, read the blurb if you want to know a bit more about this amazing plot because you will find nothing revealed here except this reader/reviewers solid reasons to give “SAFEGUARD” the HIGHEST recommendation one can give so others might know that “SAFEGUARD” is a MUST READ. If you don’t have time right now, then purchase it to read next weekend, or during your next break. However, be forewarned, once you start “SAFEGUARD” you may find it difficult to put down. I was given an ARC copy of “SAFEGUARD” to prepare this honest voluntary review and recommendation. “SAFEGUARD” is a sure bet, a STRONG MUST READ with the HIGHEST highly recommended status one can give. If I could, I’d have given it ten stars. Yes, “SAFEGUARD” is that good. Happy pages!
This is the second book in the NYC Doms Series. The series has characters intertwined. You can listen to this story as a standalone, or out of order. Beatrice and Zach’s story is well written, and captivating. They met at the club Verge, and they have a Dom/Sub relationship. Zach, a NYC police officer, is dominant, handsome, caring, and protective. Beatrice, a businesswoman, is strong, confident, and feisty, but also Zach’s sweet submissive. They share a strong and sizzling chemistry. The story has suspense, mystery, and a beautiful HEA. I loved to see again the characters from the first book. Gunnar Qualen and Jenna St. Claire did a great job with the narration. I love their voices together. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to listen to the next book in the Series, Conviction.
This story is about Diana’s best friend Beatrice (Bea) and her relationship with Zach. Bea’s a strong-willed woman who wants nothing more than weekends at Verge a NYC BDSM club with Zack and to live her own life, no matter how chaotic it may be.
Zack, a NYC detective, and Bea’s Dom. He is very protective of Bea and knows what she needs -a firm hand, structure, and stability. He is very controlling.
They have been dating for a while, but all is not as it seems. Beatrice has been invited to come home for a wedding, Zach agrees to go with her since he doesn’t want her driving alone such a long distance. He’s going meet her parents, see where she comes from and who she was, how will she explain her life in NYC? Is she ready to share her secret with him? Their D/s relationship has its ups and downs, but they seem to find a level ground each time. Will this trip destroy their relationship? And what about the rapist, where is he? Bea seems to be in his line of sight as she figures out, she has a stalker.
This book starts of hot and keeps the heat! I loved seeing the struggle between these two as well as the growing trust. With a stalker and some suspense added, you have a perfect book!
another great story in this series. Emotional and thrilling with great well written characters.
loved it.
Safeguard
NYC Doms Book 2
By Jane Henry
Narrated by Gunnar Qualen, Jenna St. Claire
Give me an alpha male and a strong female lead and I am hooked. Safeguard has both of these, and I was hooked from the first line. This is book two of the series, and though there are overlapping characters, it easily stands alone. Zach is an NYC police officer and a member of the club Verge. He meets Beatrice and finds her response to him just what he is looking for. He is all in for this woman. Beatrice craves everything Zach gives her, but is she willing to be his submissive? This is story of self discovery for Beatrice. She is a woman that I really enjoyed getting to know, asking herself all the questions, working through the answers and her feelings. Add in that Zach is so protective and you can feel his love, it makes their story so worth this listen. Henry also adds great layers with crazy family members, interactions with Diana and Tobias from Deliverance and an edge of suspense that kept me guessing to the end. This is a wonderful addition to the series.
Gunnar Qualen and Jenna St. Claire bring this story to life with their wonderful narration. Zach is a character is strong, alpha, and needs a voice that portrays every command and every feeling. Qualen gives Zach everything, from the strong rules to the loving care. St Claire is the perfect compliment, with Beatrice. She is full of spunk, loves to stand up for herself, gives Zach a run for his money yet has very true feelings. St Claire lets us feel her conflicts and we get to go through it with each line she gives us. This team has great chemistry and I loved the performance.

No one enjoys a good Dom story more that I do and Jane Henry delivers another solid story in her NYC Doms series. You do not have to read Deliverance first but I recommend reading it because there are interconnected characters and our leading man Zach, police officer by day and Dom by night, is introduced to us in Deliverance along with Beatrice the fun loving best friend of Diana. Their relationship is moving along but Zach wants more from Beatrice. She has been pretty closed mouth about her past and in Safeguard we find out why. Now if I tell you any more I will ruin your reading experience so let me leave you with this, Safeguard is steamy, suspenseful, fun and there are some twists and turns that are going to surprise you! It is told from dual POV and in my opinion a solid 4 1/2 stars.
Zach is one swoon-worthy alpha Dom!
Beatrice and Zach have a very steamy D/s relationship, but she isn’t quite on board with being a sub all the time. She’s still very willful and reckless, making Zach work that much harder to keep her safe. This is an easy book to escape into, with scintillating BDSM scenes and complex, believable characters. The story is instantly captivating and was a non-stop read for me. The drama and suspense had me on the edge of my seat throughout. If you love hot alpha Doms, this is one series you don’t want to miss! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Oh man this book is remarkable. I am absolutely in love with Zack and Bea. These two are perfect. Their journey is an amazing adventure of a perfect trust. Not disappointed once. The writing and flow of this book is above and beyond fantastic. Highly recommend this book. Do read book one first.
I honestly don’t know where to start without ruining the storyline. All I will say is that this story just blew me away. It’s that good. The chemistry between Zack and Beatrice is through the roof. Zack takes care of her needs and believe me, she needs guidance from him. The emotions just jump through the pages and the reader can feel them all, especially when Zack meets her family for the first time. And when Beatrice’s life is in danger, it’s up to Zach to get to her in time. I figured out who the bad guy was but the others involved were huge surprises for me. This book has all the feelings because the author knows just how to snag her readers interests and keep them hooked. If you don’t fall a little bit in love with Zack then that is on you! LOL Book 1 in this series was great and this book is even better. I’m a Zack fan for life now!! Can’t wait for book 3!
Safeguard is a mostly standalone installment in the NYC Doms series. I haven’t read the first installment, but I was easily able to pick up on what was going on here. I did feel a little out of the loop, though, as there are many characters who obviously know each other and have relationships with each other who must have been detailed in the first installment.
Beatrice and Zack are in an exclusive relationship at the start of Safeguard. He’s her dom and her boyfriend but she’s not collared and they’ve not said ILYs yet. Things are seemingly going well until the two take a trip to her parents for her cousin’s wedding and they have a run in with her ex. After that, Beatrice isn’t the same with Zack and he’s unsure how to fix it, how to fix her. And when he really messes up, both are unsure if they’ll ever get back to each other.
I really liked Safeguard. Though it was short, it was well-drawn and fully realized. Beatrice and Zack’s chemistry is super sexy and it’s obvious how they feel about each other, even if they don’t say it to each other at first. I wish there had been an epilogue, but I have a feeling these two will be seen in another installment, so I guess it’s OK they didn’t get firm HEA.
NYC Doms, Book 2. Rebellion collides with possession. Passion explodes. And nothing will ever be the same again!
Beatrice Ann Moore. God, how she hates that name! After walking away from the privileged life she’s always known, is she prepared for a world she never knew existed? Laundry, cooking, paying bills, especially on time? But Zack, a NYC detective, is her Dom. He knows what she needs…structure, accountability, and stability. Can Bea accept that? Zack’s as protective as they come. Bea reluctantly embraces submission but is it real? Zack’s possessiveness pushes her buttons, forcing her into outright defiance. And Bea wants nothing more than weekends at Verge, the high-end BDSM club, and the occasional hookup with Zack. She’s worked too hard for her independence. A 24/7 BDSM relationship may be fine for her best friend, Diana, but it’s definitely not for her. The question remains, is she truly a submissive? Even she’s not sure. When her carelessness pushes her into a situation she can’t ignore, she has no choice but to finally open up to Zack. Attending a family wedding is the last thing Bea wants. She escaped her family once, built her own life. But her cousin, Chantilly, is the one remaining link to her family. She has to go. Zack’s not about to let her go alone. The weekend’s a disaster from beginning to end. Unknown to anyone, it also sets in motion a series of events no one’s prepared for. As a loved one from the past reappears, Bea’s life is thrown into turmoil. When Zack learns the threats against Bea are real, he does the one thing that could end them forever. Does he have a choice? As Bea learns Zack’s broken the flickers of trust growing between them, rebellion, defiance, and anger take over. Once broken, can trust ever be repaired? When the ultimate betrayal threatens everything, can Zack look beyond the obvious? The better question is, who’s behind all this? It all comes down to a single question. Just what will have to be sacrificed? In the end, nothing else matters!
This book totally surprised me on every level. Bea’s a strong-willed, conflicted woman. While she finds herself inexorably drawn to the submission of BDSM, she also fights it with everything in her. I’ve come to expect submissives, regardless of gender, to accept that part of themselves. That’s not to say that every submissive in every book naturally and immediately accepts their submissiveness. It’s often a journey toward self-awareness. But Bea’s different, strong and defiant. She’s worked so hard to be independent. But she’s terrified of handing over control, truly being submissive. That’s a duality that’s more than unusual. It’s fascinating. Zack’s her polar opposite. He knows exactly who and what he is. Over-the-top dominant, BDSM and being a Dom aren’t just what he wants. It’s who he is. But there’s so much more to Zack. True dominants have a need to nurture their submissives. Zack’s character goes beyond just caring. There’s an urgency to control. Bea has no desire whatsoever to be controlled. And control isn’t just something Zack wants. It’s ingrained into his very being. That’s what engages and pulls you into this story from the beginning. These two are at odds with each other from the start. The constant push and pull between these two is riveting. The ever-changing agendas of every character in the book, the twists and turns around every corner, captivate and enthrall. The supporting characters inspire love, hate, and nearly every emotion in between. This is a book you can’t put down! Jane Henry is always outstanding. This book proves it once again. Thank you, Ms. Henry, for writing a story that deserves nothing less than five stars! It’s absolutely wonderful!
One final note. Be an informed reader! This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language and sexual scenes. If you don’t enjoy this genre, this may not be the book for you. There are book synopses and reviews available on Goodreads and Amazon. Use these resources. DON’T LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW WHEN YOU KNOW YOU WON’T ENJOY THE BOOK. It’s not fair to the author! She works very hard to provide a quality work product. If you know you’ll object to the book’s subject matter before you buy it, you’re doing yourself and the author an extreme disservice.
Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!
This series just keeps getting hotter. Zack is Beatrice’s dom. He is hot, sexy, strong and in charge but, he can’t control what he doesn’t know about. Beatrice has secrets, dangerous secrets. After they visit her parents things start to happen. Phone calls, cards, things being moved from where they were. Zack will become not only her dom but, her protector. Will he be able to keep her safe? This is an intriguing story with mystery, danger, suspense and one hot sexy dom. I would definitely recommend it.
Beautifully crafted, sexy suspenseful story.
I’ve been reading Jane Henry’s work for a number of years and her writing has always resonated with me. Not sure how she has managed to surpass even herself with this new series, NYC Doms.
The main characters Beatrice and Zach are well developed and interesting. It was also fun to see what Diana and Tobias, the lead characters from Deliverance were up to. These are the kind of men every BDSM loving woman would want in their lives. Or the kind of friends we all need. The sex and dominance scenes were sizzling hot. The suspense aspects kept my attention from beginning to end. I hope Jane is working on book 3
because I can hardly wait to read it!!
I received an advance reader copy via Booksprout.
Safeguard has to be my favorite book in the NYC Dom series. Hot……..no…..ON FIRE is more like it. This book is so steamy that your device will be melting!
Zack and Beatrice struggle to maintain a Dom/sub relationship. Beatrice is afraid to commit to anything but she desires all that Zack can dish out.
Zack is a NYC detective, who’s first instinct is to suspect and ask all questions except when it comes to Beatrice. He is so mesmerized by her that he forgets to ask important background questions.
That momentary lapse of reason brings trouble right into their lives and threatens not only his one love, but their relationship as well.
Jane Henry NAILED it!! There is everything to love about this book. Suspense, drama, hesitation, spanking, and so much steam that one will not be able to put it down. Be warned…..you will desire more when it ends!!
Gunnar Qualen and Jenna St. Claire bring this story to a new height. Gunnar narrated Zack as rugged and tough as I imagined him. With his raspy, deep voice, Gunnar brings out the best, worst and alpha in Zack. Jenna narrates Beatrice with a softer side. Jenna brings out the insecurities and desires of Beatrice. This narrating team enhanced this story and made it a must listen to book!
