This was an ok read. Samiyah and Jonas had this instant attraction. I could accept that.
She gets drunk, gives a strange man her car keys, let’s him drive her car, goes back to his place, passes out, and wakes up in his bed the next morning. Here comes the part I can’t accept. Samiyah gets upset and runs because Jonas calls her by her married name. Really?
I did like Jonas. He seemed pretty straight up. The jury is still out on Samiyah. She seemed to run hot and cold for a while. I liked her girl Claudia. Didn’t care much for Samiyah’s mother either.
Jonas was blind to both Amanda and Kevin’s characters. After the benefit, what happened was an interesting twist, but not an unexpected twist.
Some of the scene transitions were confusing. It seemed like I would be in one scene, and the next scene would be something completely different leaving me wondering if I had missed something. I would re-read to see if I overlooked something. That took me out of the flow of the story a couple of times.
The other thing that threw me off were the flowery descriptions of sex. Such as “She opened her legs inviting him to her love boat where she hid rocky waves and angry seas.” What? That was just strange.
In spite of the things I listed, it was not a bad book. It was entertaining enough that I want to read Jaden and Claudia’s book.
With some more editing this book would be ok. There are points that scenes are disjointed and came out of left field. Sentences that are awkward. I also found myself skipping parts because details were over explained.
As for the characters. She was not very notable. But he was exceptional! Even I found myself falling in league with all the other women and fell a little but in love with him too! He was well done.
very good book just to short when it start to get real good it ends
Confirmed bachelor and recent divorcee meet and fallinlove. Decentstory. Way out of proportion amount of sex makes it trashy.
This was an awesome read
Love the characters, loved reading about a man that respects, a love a woman the way he did.
Loved the story! The chance meeting, the vacation and seamless coincidental encounters. Different themes for the characters were handled superbly. I am fast becoming a fan of this author.
This is the 2nd book I read by Stephanie Nicole Norris. This book’s storyline was okay. Samiyah’s character was okay. Jonas’s character was okay. The ending okay.
He met her when she was at her lowest but one look had Jonas captivated and wanting to protect her. Their romantic journey will have several twists and turns but Jonas and Samiyah will capture your hearts and have you on their sides cheering them on to a happily ever after.
When You Know
Hot chocolate drink of a man describes Jonas in a perfect way. He is the best person to have to savor, protect and love you without reservation.
Samiyah wasted years of her life on a man that was not fully present their marriage. Meeting Jonas was a way to wash away the bad taste. Who knew he might become the a flavor she might start craving?
4.5 Sexy Stars!!
Holy Smokes!! What a story!! Samiyah and Jonas were one hot couple! Saying that the chemistry between them was off-the-charts should be an understatement! When you have an undeniable connection the way these two did, happily ever after was inevitable. I loved this story from the beginning to the very last page, and I just really wish it didn’t have to end. I wanted more of any kind of juicy tidbits of their future (aside from the wedding stuff) and maybe a snippet or clue about Samiyah’s friend Claudia in the epilogue. Yep! I’m just that greedy!
Jonas was one smooth brotha! He was everything we wanted in a hero. Smart. Sexy. Charming. Compassionate. Strong. Kind. Alpha. He was definitely not afraid to show a woman what he felt. No wonder they practically fell at his feet!
After what Samiyah’s ex-husband did to her, she definitely needed a boost in the confidence department, and Jonas was all too willing to lend a helping hand:
“Jonas lifted Samiyah’s chin. ‘He’s a clown. Don’t ever feel like you weren’t enough. A real man knows when he’s in the presence of a jewel, and the right man will love you unconditionally with no strings attached.’ ” **Le sigh!**
These two heated up the pages so much, I was afraid my kindle would catch fire!
“How did you know I was drinking Pinot Grigio?”
“Because I watch your lips move every chance I get…”
Have mercy! I don’t even remember the rest of that sentence because I almost fell in–yes, I said IN–my kindle!
And I’m in no way putting my sista-girl Samiyah on the back burner. Our heroine was just as smart, sexy, and charming as our hero. She definitely turned a few heads. And like our hero, Samiyah was not above giving back to the community. Add in sassy, feisty, and passionate and what you got was a woman who was the real deal.
What I also loved about this story was the vulnerability of both Samiyah and Jonas. With Samiyah, it was deep-rooted in the failure of parents’ marriage, as well as her own. With Jonas, it involved the remnant of feelings left after the tragic loss of his mother. Both of these things were handled masterfully by the author.
**One thing to note:
I have to be honest about this. *Proofreading.* I noticed a problem with proofreading in a lot of Ms. Norris’s books. I have read quite a few of them, so I don’t say this lightly. I absolutely love Ms. Norris’s books, and her style of story-telling is uniquely her own. It’s passionate, sexy, and so romantic. Yeah, I know I’ve desribed about million other romance novels, but readers definitely know what to expect when they get their hands on a Stephanie Nicole Norris book.
Safe With Me: Falling for a Rose was easily a 5-star read, but I had to take a 1/2 point for those grammatictical errors! Run-on sentences and incorrect punctuation usage was out of this world! Sometimes mistakes get past the proofreader and editor, and having a few is no big deal. The content is perfect because these stories are absolutely amazing! However, I would take out more time to focus on editing and just pay more attention to the grammatical presentation, especially actual sentence structure and punctuation in the future. Sometimes, these little mistakes–after so many occurrences–add up and have a tendency to take the reader out of the story.
First thing first…I did received a free copy for an honest review of this book. With that being said, I really did enjoy this book. At first I thought Samiyah might be moving on too fast from her last relationship, which funny enough, the author brought up as a concern the heroine had too. However, if you look at her failed marriage, you would realized that it basically ended a long time ago but they had somehow continued to stay together. Jonas, well, where can I get someone like him!! Please do sign me up! LOL. I like that he wasn’t intimidated by a strong and intelligent woman. That he wanted her for both her beauty and brains.
There were some things that did throw me off. 1.) First sex scene. I guess this is more me as it’s been a while since I read a “flowery” (for a lack of better word) descriptions of sex. Not a big deal especially if you don’t care for explicit details. 2.) Jonas description of Samiyah – first it was ginger and then molasses. These are two different colors so I was kind of confused trying to picture Samiyah in my head. 3.) The bad guy – I mean you kind of get it that he might be up to no good from the few times he is brought up in the story, but I felt like the author could have done a better job to explain where the connection was between the hero and the bad guy. It felt incomplete, like that part of the story could have been better explained. All we know was that the hero and bad guy knew each other.
Overall, this was a good book to start off this series. And it looks like there will be six more to look forward to! Dare we hope for more as there are three sisters in the Rose clan as well. I hope you do give this book a chance. I am looking forward to reading the next book!
This was a sexy, romance!
Loved the book I wish they would of had a longer story line and had some kids
Loved the book, can’t wait to read the next one!
First time that I read anything by this author, but will not be the last! Can’t wait to start reading the series and see how all of the brother’s find love.
This book was very good. It made me look at second chances differently. The way that the author wrote the story was so reality and you could relate to the characters.
I am looking forward to reading some more of her work. Keep up the good work!!!
