Rule #1 of getting life back on track: don’t fall for a biker… street. She’s not his type, yet he can’t stay away from her. When trouble follows Liv, he’s one step behind, ready to defend her because his time in the Lost Saxons Motorcycle Club has taught him two things: how to ride and how to protect what is his. And Liv is his—even if she doesn’t know it yet.

Wow I am now at a loss for words after reading this amazing book!! We meet Liv as she decides to flee from a very abusive marriage. She proceeds to mostly out her life back together when she meets Dean who is a member of the Lost Saxens MC. As a romance of course it ends well but I have to give the author accolades for the respectful yet accurate picture of the lasting effects of living this way. Having a strong biker meet her needs was just great making me really fall in love with the story so I give it 5/5 stars.
When you read a book like Safe Rider the 2nd in the Lost Saxons Series you must ask yourself, what isn’t there to like about it. I mean the characters are real, they must overcome real life situations and they teach you how to do that through Jessica’s words.
Liv is a powerful female character that you root for and are so proud of. She got out of a bad place and is learning about herself and how to become stronger for herself and her future. It is not easy and you get a deeper understanding of how truly hard it was to get away from her past.
Dean is a strong alpha male with a heart of gold and you want to bring him to life! He is real and feels deeply and his family is the Lost Saxons. You get to know a little more about how and what an MC life can be for the people in it and around it. Family isn’t always blood.
Bringing these two characters to life in the words of this book must have taken a lot of heart and deep love for them to get them just right. They are perfect in their imperfections and their feelings about themselves and their lives and each other is something to be admired and treasured.
I loved the first in the series, Snared Rider but in a way different as the stories were different. The commonality with the books is that they pull strongly at your heartstrings, make you tear up and maybe even cry a little and you even get to laugh. There is also an element of suspense to it and you do get closure to the immediate plot but you are left with OMG for the next book.
I sure do hope Jessica doesn’t keep us waiting for long for the next book.
Liv new that if she didn’t get out of her marriage it would end up killing her, her husband had become increasingly more unstable and her family was of no help. When a woman makes her an offer to get her safely located elsewhere, she takes her up on it and begins a new life in Kingsley. Liv doesn’t expect to ever get another relationship but her biker neighbor Dean interests her, but it blows up in her face initially when he thinks she is repulsed by him. It changes quickly though when Dean figures out he had pegged her wrong and Dean and Liv strike up a friendship of sorts. Dean though wants more but he knows she is holding some secrets and vows to be patient and let her set the pace. Can Liv find love and what happens when her past comes back?
This was great, I thought the pacing was perfect in this one and I liked the fact that Dean although intense was so sweet with Liv. Dean is intense but quickly fell for him and his club. Need to go back and read the first book and the rest of this series.
This is the story of Dean and Liv. I loved this story and like with the first book I never wanted to put it down. I was hooked from the start until the end.
She was a victim of domestic violence. He is loving, caring, loyal and honest.
In this book we learn what happens when Simon has Beth and Dean prisoners, we see it from Liv’s eyes. I liked that she did not repeat what she had already presented in the other book, but gave a different perspective of the situation, through different eyes.
I’m dying to read another book about other members of the Lost Saxons. They’re a family I can’t seem to get enough of. I really can’t wait for Weed’s book.
My heart melted! This is book two in this series and belongs to Dean and Live, now if you have read Book One (and you really need to, to truly appreciate their story), you will have an idea of what went on. But in all honesty, it does not prepare you for what you will experience whilst reading this one.
You will lose your heart, truly! Watching the relationship between Dean and Liv evolve is just beautiful. Watching her grow in confidence and strength is truly beautiful too. I tell you, these two hold my heart.
In amongst all this, the club are taking care of business and taking care of those close to them. These brothers will go all out to protect those dear to them but not everything is all as it seems. Is there a rat?!
Give me the next book!!!
One heck of an emotional connection with a very real subject of domestic violence. When Olivia is given the opportunity to leave her abusive husband she hesitates as most would but after making a fresh start somewhere new she meets Dean a member of the Lost Saxons motorcycle club. This story is full of suspense with romance and the happily ever after that makes your heart smile.
I have to say that I was looking forward to this book after reading this author’s debut book, I was not disappointed. Liv moved to Kingsley to start over and fell right in her neighbor’s arms. Liv didn’t want to fall for a biker but fate had other plans for her. Unfortunately Liv’s past is not ready to let go of her. This book was simply amazing. I fall more in love with these characters the more I read. I highly recommend this book and author.
The second installment of the Lost Saxons series does not disappoint. This story was incredible. My heart broke for Liv at the beginning and cheered for her the entire rest of the story. She grows so strong that you feel proud of her. Dean is just delicious! He’s strong, sexy, patient, and just plain yummy. Everyone needs a Dean in their life.
Although it’s part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. I’m ready for more! I want Wade, Jem, and Weed’s stories. Just give me the whole Club, please.
I received an ARC of this book, in exchange for an honest review. This is the story of Dean and Liv. It’s complicated since the beginning, especially due to her history of being a victim of domestic violence. He is loving, caring, loyal and honest. They fit together perfectly and have great chemistry. In this book we learn what happens when Simon has Beth and Dean prisoners; we see it from Liv’s eyes. I liked that she did not repeat what she had already presented in the other book, but gave a different perspective of the situation, through different eyes. I appreciated that very much. It was a book that brought up many emotions, but I didn’t want it to end. I’m already anxious to read another book about other members of the Lost Saxons. They’re a family I can’t seem to get enough of.
I have found myself another author to love! I love this book! Dean & Liv are great together! After reading book 1 I was really looking forward for book 2. There was nothing about this book that I didn’t love!
If you read the prequel, “Snared Rider” you knew Olivia’s ex was a violent maniac. In spite of that, seeing what Olivia survived was painful. I loved that Jessica Ames built this realistically, and that Olivia didn’t just escape an abusive husband and get right up and fall in love again. This book takes us back quite a bit before “Snared Rider” because Olivia had to rebuild her life with therapists and routines to make her feel safe and time to heal. But Simon didn’t want to let her go. Then there is Dean, who seemed in the prequel a little overprotective and remote. Now that you see the real story — what would put him on edge emotionally to the point that he might pick a fight with Logan in “Snared Rider”, it’s hard not to feel twice as bad for the situation. I had thought that Logan was such a complex character that he would eclipse Dean. Now that I’ve read what makes Dean tick, he’s so much more that he actually eclipses Logan. Dean is kind and patient and wonderful. If Olivia could have prayed for a man with every facet and had him produced just for her, he’d be exactly as Dean is naturally. The two fit together perfectly. And I loved the way they affected one another. Dean’s determination to give every woman he loves the tools to defend herself after seeing what another disgruntled ex did to Olivia, and Olivia’s change of heart regarding motorcycles and the Club when she came to understand the family and home that represented to Dean.
It’s hard not to give to much away in this review because this story has builds upon on that was already released. But it build’s on that story in a way few authors could properly handle. Jessica Ames pulled no punches in representing the multiple abuses a wife can suffer at the hands of a husband. She even deftly touched on gaslighting and forced isolation — the two little nasties that keep many women going back to a situation that is killing them. And after she built those into her story, she showed how Olivia had to work to overcome them. It was brilliantly done.
Yes, this is a work of fiction. But it feels so real. I think every woman should read it. It offers hope in a way that few books touching on abuse manage. You leave the book feeling empowered, and considering the genre, where women often are just riding in the back, that’s quite a feat.
Let’s start off by saying that this is a new author for us and we throughly enjoyed our first read by them and we really loved the book cover as it was just beautiful.
The story was engaging enough an had a serious story line that kept your interest as the story flowed we liked getting to know the characters and I have to say that we found them like-able,engaging and funny.
I loved Olivia/Liv and how she had the courage to change her life.We found her to have courage, be loving,giving,ski-dish,independent ,loved how she showed us that she had a backbone and that she was strong and beautiful inside and out.I loved no matter how many reservations she had when it came to Dean and his club she seemed to always draw her own conclusions from the deeds he did and the person he was when he was around her and with her.
I loved Dean from the onset of the story as he was just so love-able,patient, kind, giving, protective, possessive in a positive way in which he made Liv feel safe and was sexy as sin.
I loved the chemistry this couple had and how their relationship developed slowly and sweetly and how Dean was patient and understanding with her and the struggles Liv had with trust issues. All these things made Dean more endearing to us and more love-able.
The story had just enough drama and a sweet love story and character engagement to the keep the story interesting.I normally like a story with a bit more heat and I wish their was a little bit more of the club drama thrown in the mix but, considering the seriousness of the content of the story it was going to take time for Dean to make Liv his I think we new that the story would concentrate more or the romance aspect then club drama so we weren’t that disappointed.
I thoroughly enjoyed the fact that the characters were total opposites yet fit perfectly with one another and I believe Dean being a bit edgy and had a bit mystery to him was just the thing to bring her back into the living again.Dean was someone she trusted and felt safe with and someone totally opposite of the men she had been previously attracted to.
The story was emotional and engaged your emotions and we love stories just like that.
Our favorite quote from the story
“No, I know I offended him. I don’t want to end up on some kind of ‘whack’ list, Hol.”
lol
I would definitely read more in this continuing series.
5 stars
Because those that have experienced abuse are deserving of love even if they don’t know what care looks like. Dean is the perfect example of the man that will wait until the wounds are healed. Olivia has a lot to lose and Dean is willing to show her he’s the investment she’s been waiting for. Simon, her ex, is absolutely nuts, and unfortunately, the perfect view of an abuser. It makes me realize how lucky some of us are, because he is textbook.
Laura – Alphas Do It Better Book Blog
This is the second book in this awesome series, and is Liv and Dean’s story. Liv has escaped from an abusive relationship, and is making a new start in another town. The last thing she wants is become involved in another relationship. Dean is a sexy alpha biker, who is drawn to Liv from first sight. No spoilers; this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed! This is a well written flawless story, which is emotional, raw, gritty, heartbreaking, humorous, passionate and full of love. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I cannot wait to read more from this talented author, who I highly recommend for all MC lovers.
I won’t lie, the beginning of this book is hard to take, but it was worth every minute.
Simon has Olivia so beaten down she doesn’t even realize when he’s gaslighting her and using isolation to continue abusing her. Once Olivia finds a way out she is determined never to be in a relationship again, convinced something in her is fundamentally broken.
When Dean meets Olivia he doesn’t realize anything is off aside from her being scared of him because of his Lost Saxons kutte, and that he wants to kiss her. Right Then!
As Olivia and Dean get closer to knowing each other better Olivia decides he doesn’t need to know about Simon. Until an accident happens and Olivia’s flashback tells Dean he didn’t just scare her, he panicked her, and Dean drags it all out of her.
Dean and Olivia are getting to know each other, and loving every minute of it, until things turn sideways and Olivia’s worst nightmare comes storming back.
Can Dean and the Lost Saxons deal with Olivia’s nightmare without anyone else getting hurt, or is Olivia going to have to run again?
A powerful story about healing and being willing to try on a new life after everything important has been ripped away. Dean is my new favourite man, and I wish I could have taken lessons from Olivia a life time ago.
Thank you Jessica Ames for giving us a beautiful new story, I can’t wait to see what the Lost Saxons MC get up to next.
I gave this Book a rating of 5+ ’s

>-< >–< >–< >–< >–<>–< >–< >–< >–< >–< >–< >–< >–< What I liked/Didn’t Like: I loved, Loved, Loved this one. I adore Jessica Ames Writing Style and her storylines are easy to follow and relatable to real life. Her characters are well written with lots of personality. That said I loved Dean He was easy to like. Full of interesting things happening that keeps you reading to figure out what happen and how it all ends up.
Jessica Ames has done it again!! She brings us into the incredible Lost Saxons world where English coal country gets a savior in these misunderstood rebels. I love this book and Dean!! I was so impressed by the way she handled these characters and really portrayed the feeling of hope within hardship. I can’t rave enough about Jessica Ames and her fantastic writing. As this is only her second novel she writes like a veteran author and has since the beginning. I can’t wait to see what she brings us next!!
This is the second in the series but can be read as a standalone. The first book in the series is Snared Rider.
Liv lives a life where she is constantly worried that her husband is hiding around the corner. She escaped with her life and now she is looking over her shoulder in fear that one day he will just show back up. She is building herself a new life in Kingsley, but she is still too broken to really trust anyone. So when she gets to know her neighbor, Dean, she knows that this can go nowhere, but what she doesn’t realize is that Dean is very patient and will wait for her as long as it takes.
In the first book of the Lost Saxons we met Dean and found out about the situation he has found himself in, well a little bit of it. Now, we get to really dig into this whole situation and find out the majority of what’s going on.. there are still a few things left secret for the next book. I found that the naughty bits were amped up a bit more and were amazing! There is some drama and a bit of violence. I found this to be an ok MC read, and give it 4 stars.
I loved Liv’s story… another fabulous read from the wonderful Jessica Ames.
Safe Rider by Jessica Ames was heartbreakingly beautiful. Ms Ames created a distinctve masterpiece that will take your breath away. Be prepared to be drowned in an array of emotions love, humor, anger, betrayal, self-worth, insecurities and heart break. Jessica Ames you did an amazing job portraying strength and self-discovery overcoming trauma that can scar any woman for a lifetime. The love between Dean and Liv is pure and undeniable. The emotional connection they share became the foundation of their relationship. Dean’s arms were Liv’s safe haven. I guarantee you will have tiny motorcycle imprints on your heart and soul forever. I highly recommend this series.
