Two deaths—one psychological and one real. Against her will, Logan is thrown smack dab in the middle of both and can’t escape either.
During the first vacation she’s taken in years, Logan looks forward to sharing the beauty of the Oregon coast with Ben and her family. They quickly immerse themselves in summer fun. Ocean walks, caramel corn by the fire, a visit to the aquarium, a charter boat … corn by the fire, a visit to the aquarium, a charter boat fishing trip, and to top it off, tickets for Logan and Ben to an amazing, in-home classical music concert featuring visiting musicians from China.
But within days, Logan finds herself inexorably dragged into a homicide investigation—as a possible suspect! While reeling from that discovery, Logan is forced to face a ghost from her past and make a thorny, personal decision that will change everyone’s lives, including her brother, Rick’s.
Weaving themes of loss, healing, forgiveness, family, love, and community, Davisson’s characters all seek a safe harbor, but not all of them find one.

Safe Harbor

Valerie Davisson
Book 5 in the Logan Mckenna mystery series, In this book Logan is on a much needed vacation with her family and once again finds herself faced with a murder mystery that she can’t help but to solve. I really like Logan’s character, she is a strong woman and gets it done. This book can be read as a stand alone or in order, either way you will enjoy this book as much if not more than all of them in the series.
Logan McKenna just wanted to enjoy a nice family vacation on the coast in Oregon. Things seemed to be going well with runs and walks along the beach, exploring the little town their rental was in, enjoying BBQ, movie nights and fresh sea food. It was the first real vacation she had taken in quite a while, but things are about to get crazy when their neighbors son is murdered on his boat. A few people are suspected: the wife, a disgruntled ex deck hand, and Logan herself. How did she get dragged into this crazy murder investigation having only met the deceased a couple days prior and witnessed him being threatened? She had no motive nor any connection to the man in question aside from going on a half day fishing trip with several other people. Having been pulled into this investigation against her will she wants to find out everything she can about the people involved. Who did it, the wife or the former deck hand? Perhaps there is someone besides the obvious suspects? Will her nosiness get her into more trouble than she asked for or will she perhaps be able to help solve the mystery? This was a great book from start to finish.
Logan’s first vacation in years turns to her solving yet another mystery. As the 5th book in the series, we are still learning more about these characters and seeing them grow. This book does not disappoint. It is fast paced and keeps you wanting more. It continually had me saying just one more page.
Safe Harbor is the fifth book in the Logan McKenna series and despite being so many books in, it is just as exciting as the books before it. Valerie Davisson has a talent for crafting an interesting mystery while weaving meaningful topics into the storyline. As the series progresses, the strength in the writing and characters alike strengthen. Valerie is definitely an author I would recommend to anyone that likes fast paced mysteries with a “just one more page” type lure.
I would give Safe Harbor a strong 4 star reading.
Safe Harbor by Valerie Davisson is the fifth book in the Logan McKenna series. Logan rarely gets a restful moment in her complicated life and this time is no exception. The first family vacation in years brings lots of drama, mystery, and revelations to everyone. I always enjoy how Logan works everything out and figures out the actual facts of the case. This book was no exception. Logan is smart, dedicated, and brings a unique look to what is presented to her. I enjoyed this book as I have enjoyed the entire series and look forward to learning more about Logan and those important to her. I do recommend reading the series in order because the characters are building throughout. I am looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.
SAFE HARBOR (A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 5) by Valerie Davisson
5 of 5 Stars
I am a big fan of Valerie Davisson’s ‘Logan McKenna Mystery’ series and have enjoyed all four previous books in the series and this fifth instalment was the best one yet. Back with Logan McKenna, who now feels like an old friend and as usual she finds herself in the middle of a mystery, this time it’s two deaths, one real and one psychological. Logan is enjoying her first vacation in years and along with Ben and her family make the most of some summer fun on the Oregon coast. Logan and Ben even have tickets for an in-home classical music concert featuring visiting musicians from China. Shockingly Logan then finds herself inexorably dragged into a homicide investigation as a possible suspect. As if that wasn’t enough to cope with Logan is then forced to face a ghost from her past and has to make a personal decision that will affect everyone’s lives including her brother Rick’s. This latest novel featuring our independent and feisty heroine Logan manages to weave a number of themes including, “loss, healing, forgiveness, family, love, and community” and although all of Davisson’s well defined characters all seek a safe harbor, sadly not all of them will find one.
I was hooked from page one and gripped from start to finish whilst reading this crime mystery story. The storyline is fast paced and the plot is full of drama, suspense, mystery and crime and is full of twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very last page. I enjoy following Logan as she investigates the mystery and felt fully immersed in the story. The narrative flows well making this an enjoyable and engaging read and the characters all add something different to the overall storyline. I personally think this series has got better and better and I definitely recommend this book and the previous ones in the series.

Safe Harbor: A Logan McKenna Mystery #5 (The Logan McKenna Series) By Valerie Davisson
Davisson has really outdone herself with Safe Harbor. Safe Harbor leaves you hanging to the edge of your seat wanting more.
Logan decides that it’s time for a vacation. Her daughter, son-in-law, and grandson are coming with her. As is Ben, her boyfriend.
Once there things don’t go quite as planned. A murder? Again? Can Logan catch a break? The quote I chose for Logan is: “Oh, you can just call me Logan, Logan McKenna. My husband passed away several years ago.”
Highly recommended crime lovers.
This is the 5th book in the series and I enjoyed this just as much as the other books. It can be read as a standalone however I would recommend reading the other four as it helps build the characters.
Logan is back in another story full of twists, turns and mayhem. However this time things hit a little to close to home.
Logan finds herself in another homicide investigation but this time she is a suspect. How can she prove her innocence?
Added to this is the reappearance of her mother. After leaving Logan and her brother when they were kids why has she returned now and what does she want.
Its a story about heartbreak and forgiveness along with the murder and mystery that these books are well known for.
Safe Harbor by Valerie Davisson
Four Stars
Safe Harbor: A Logan McKenna Mystery is the fifth book in the Logan McKenna series by Valerie Davisson. This book can be read as a standalone, but I recommend you read the series in order. All of the books feature Logan McKenna, a smart, determined, and independent woman. The characters have grown as this series progresses. I was amazed by the descriptions of the Oregon Coast, it makes me want to visit.
Now let e tell you, this is a wonderful murder mystery. It had me up reading half the night just to see how it would end. I was surprised about the twists and turns, and it kept me guessing until the end. I highly recommend this book, series and author.
When Logan is dropped into a mystery can she come out of it unscathed?
Logan and Ben have decided to go on a holiday to Oregon with Logan’s daughter, her husband and Logan’s grandchild but as always things don’t stay calm for long.
As they are enjoying the trip with the family Logan is thrusted into a murder but this time she is also one of the prime suspects, can she try and find the murderer in time to clear herself but will this open wounds of the past.
This is the fifth book in this wonderful series and the stories just keep getting better and better. I do have to say that this is the best one so far, the details that are unrevealing and you get to see more into the character of Logan. I love the relationship she has with Ben and he seems to ground the character which is great to read.
The second characters are wonderfully written and I feel give another depth to the story. The mystery element is not rushed and draws you into the story with its twists and turns. A really great read and love to read more of Logan in the future.
Safe Harbor is very entertaining to read. It is murder and mystery galore. Unpredictable in the events that happen and is a page-turner. Action packed with wonderful characters. I do think it is east to read and builds a relationship between fiction and real life. I do recommend this novel and the entire series but you should start from book one.
Safe Harbor is the fifth book in the Logan McKenna Mystery book series. Being this is book five in the series, I highly recommend reading books one through four so you will enjoy the character’s growth in the series. The characters are fully developed and have a personality that made me feel as if I was apart of their world. The storyline is intriguing. In this book, we find that Logan is on vacation enjoying everything, but it all comes to a head when she finds herself in the murder investigation. What will Logan have to do to get through this chapter in her life? Will things come out that she has kept hidden? I highly recommend this book to see how Logan handles this mystery,
This fifth book in the Logan McKenna Mystery series from Valerie Davisson, is one you don’t want to miss. I mention it is the fifth because I think it would be easier to enjoy this series if you read it from the beginning and in order a little bit. I was so excited to see that we were getting another novel from Logan that I scooped this one up without even reading the synopsis. As I expected Logan finds herself in the middle of chaos and danger as she is thrust into the middle of two murders. This is another fast paced and well described novel that makes you feel as if you are there in the thick of the mystery and suspense as you read about Logan and her adventures to find Safe Harbor. I can’t wait to see what we will get next from Davisson!
Safe Harbor
A Logan McKenna Mystery
Book 5
By Valerie Davisson
This is a fully intense mystery. You will get to follow Logan as she works on solving a crime. Sit down and get ready!
Logan McKenna is so ready for vacation with her family. The first in a longtime and headed to the Oregon coast. Logan and Ben take their children on many mini trips, the ocean, the aquarium, a fishing trip on a chartered boat, and ending with a concert with musicians from China. We all know this will be two unexpected deaths. Logan is found to be in the middle of a crime and spends the rest of her vacation proving her innocence.
Valerie Davisson has written this Crime story. A true rollercoaster ride of solving this murder. All of your feels will be out in the open. I love reading and following Logan, as she investigates her innocence in this murder. Bringing justice to the guilty. Some of the characters will break your heart, others will make you so mad. Brothers are sometimes caught in trouble and their own family is thrown into their mistakes. Please don’t throw your tablet! You will need it to finish this story. I can’t wait for book 6.
This is the fifth book in the Logan McKenna series. The story follows Logan as she goes on a vacation – one she has not taken in years – and ends up getting pulled into a homicide investigation. Just when she thought she would be able to enjoy a family vacation, a murder happens in a normally quiet town. Trouble seems to follow this poor girl. The characters are well written, and scenery is very detailed. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat. This series get better and better.
So this one is my favorite of all the Logan McKenna books. The story is great and full of action and suspense. The chapter are short so it’s easy to say….just one more chapter then I’ll shut out the light. But guess what? Doesn’t happen. The characters have really developed over time and have finally reached their potential. I liked how Logan got swept into this investigation and didn’t place herself there.
I found I was sucked into this story. It has a full cast of characters that lead me on a wonderful chase. Who did it? Who is involved with whom? There are exes, Chinese thugs, FBI, musicians, sea boat captains and more! I don’t want to forget Logan, Ben and her daughters family all on a vacation to Oregon when the unspeakable happens.
Overall as I mentioned this is my favorite of the series. The writing flowed better and the story left out the unimportant/fluff and inserted action, drama and suspense that kept me interested and turning pages.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this series and Safe Harbor lived up to my expectations. Davisson continues to do a great job weaving together a compelling story with the right about of suspense, drama, and some fantastic characters to invest in. From start to finish a really great read for all crime lovers.
Well she has done it again. Logan finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation, but as a suspect! As usual, the tiny details we get and the amazing way the story is told, we are just immersed into the story watching it all unfold.
I hope one of these times Logan gets a break after all she has gone through but then we wouldn’t have these great stories to keep reading. Must read!
SAFE HARBOR (A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 5) by Valerie Davisson. I can’t even describe how much I have loved this series. Its such a good murder msystery series and while I have enjoyed reading each book in order you can read them as standalone as well. Its the continuing story of Logan McKenna. In this book we find Logan thinking she can finally enjoy a family vacation in Oregon with Ben and her family. As soon as Logan gets relaxed she finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation. Not only is she in the middle of the investigation she is a suspect. So much for a vacation. While trying to find out exactly how this murder occurred and who did it she finds someone from her past that is not welcome company! Logan is strong, independent and caring but this case may finally do her in. Will she find out who and why this person murdered the victim and set her up to take the fall. Read Safe Harbor to find out. You will not be disappointed!
Safe Harbor: A Logan McKenna Mystery by Valerie Davisson is the fifth book in the Logan McKenna Series. This book is just as good as the previous books and was brilliant to read. It can be read as a stand-alone however I would personally recommend reading the series in order to get a full understanding of the characters.
I enjoyed the fact that this one was just as intriguing as the others except this time we find Logan at the centre of it all as a suspect. It changed the dynamic of the story slightly and added an element to it I didn’t know was missing. I found myself reading this book quickly because I had to know what was going to happen. This really is a gripping series that is worth reading and I am looking forward to whatever might be next.
