In her fifth Drake Sisters novel, #1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan introduces Hannah, one of seven extraordinary women who are gifted, enigmatic, and seductively enchanted… One of seven daughters in a line of extraordinary women, Hannah Drake has been the elusive object of affection for Jonas Harrington for as long at the rugged Sea Haven sheriff can remember. If only the … can remember. If only the stunning super-model was driven by a passion other than her career. But Jonas isn’t the only one with desires for Hannah.
From the shadows has emerged a vengeful figure who stalks the beauty with one terrifying purpose: to strip her of all she is and destroy her. Only one man was destined as her protection. Now, out of a storm of danger, Jonas must guide the woman he loves from a sinister darkness that threatens not only Hannah, but the entire Drake family.
more
Hannah Drake the supermodel, that’s all she’s ever heard, never just Hannah. But beneath the beautiful face, she faces crippling shyness and a stutter brought on by the shyness. She hides it well, no one except her sisters know of her illness, but they don’t know the other stuff, the eating disorder, and the lack of sleep. Well no one but Jonas. The overbearing, mean mouthed sheriff, sent to plague her. His high handedness, and his ability to wreck havoc on Hannah’s life, it’s just not fair. Why does he have to be the one that makes her heart pound? And why can’t she get away from him?
Jonas has known the Drakes sisters for a very long time. They became his family when his father died, and his mother became ill. The house became his refuge, and the Drake’s felt like sisters, except for Hannah. Jonas always knew they would be together. With her he felt safe.
And when Hannah is attacked. Jonas is afraid she will die and leave him. But the sisters pull together and bring Hannah back from the brink of death.
Rehab is a long, slow and painful process. Both mentally and physically, her sisters are there to see to her physical well-being, and Jonas does what he does best, nag and push her (but I think she needs that sometimes)
So who did this to her? Was there something else behind the attack? There are a few suspects, from the crazed reverend (they showed his flock what a pervert he was) to the obsessed fan. She has a few people who don’t like the Drake sisters.
Throughout the previous books, we saw how much Jonas antagonised Hannah. His cutting remarks made me want to slap him. But Hannah’s way if dealing with him did make me chuckle.
This has to be my favourite book in the series. You know almost from the start of this series that they will get together. Love the interaction with the sisters. The chemistry sizzles between Jonas and Hannah. And all the crazy moments in between.
A great paranormal romance
Hannah Drake, is one of seven magical sisters. She is a stunning supermodel who has hidden how much she hates being the center of attention and in public. After being attacked and almost dying she finds her courage to be her true self and be with the man who she has always loved.
This series is one of the first paranormal ones I remember reading as a teenager. Feehan was one of the authors that I would devour all of her books of. Sadly, I feel this series hasn’t held up for me. I have not really enjoyed any of the books since the first two. I really expected Hannah and Jonas’s book to be one I enjoyed but sadly it didn’t.
My biggest issue was Jonas. In previous books he constantly insulted Hannah about her job, her looks, and called her a Barbie all the time. I wasn’t happy with him starting this book but I figured he would change. Jonas is like the childhood bully who is taunting and picking on you because they are secretly hiding their crush. I hated him. His constant negativity about her career made me very uncomfortable. He says it’s because he sees the real Hannah and knows that she hates showing herself off and that’s why he does it but that doesn’t mean he has to be an asshole. His whole character just came across as controlling and made me think of an unhealthy relationship that becomes abusive.
Hannah was just ok. She was very shallow about her looks and constantly waffling between being with Jonas and running from everything. I didn’t love her. My biggest issue is that she has an eating disorder from her model career and it is barely discussed. It was like after the attack on her she got better and no longer had an eating disorder. That’s not how it works.
As you can tell, I didn’t love this book like I used to. I ended up skimming a lot of the book because I just couldn’t deal with these two. The only scenes I really liked were the house going into defensive mode and the action at the end. I loved the idea of a house protecting its residents.
I won’t be continuing my reread of this series. I just can’t do it anymore. This is not the same series I remember and I don’t know if it’s because the writing hasn’t aged well or if its me. But whatever it is, I am done with this series. I will continue reading her new books though.
Reader Warnings:
Heroine has an eating disorder created by her modeling career.
I love this whole series about a family who have interesting powers and love interests
I like all her books
Another beautiful story by Feehan.
Hey, real world, meet the Drake sisters! See how a little magic and a lot of love can make things better.
