Finalist in the 2021 Passionate Plume Award for Novella category Being born on the wrong side of the tracks won’t hold her back… hard to get where she is and no one and nothing is going to stop her from achieving her goals. Certainly not the insane attraction she has to a man she shouldn’t want. Because Edward is the worst kind of kryptonite: a bad boy with a heart of gold.
Being born with a silver spoon in his mouth won’t help him now…
Being the chauffeur for one of Australia’s wealthiest men is exactly as boring as it sounds, but Edward Berringer is a man with a plan and an unshakable will to succeed. But success comes in many forms, including the burgeoning romance with the sexy, sassy manager from his favourite bookstore. He knows he should walk away and leave Karen alone, but when he discovers her tragic past rivals his own, there’s nothing he won’t do to protect the good girl who’s stolen his heart.

This is the second book in this series, and it’s Karen and Edward’s story. Karen is Claire’s friend and bookstore employee, and she’s accepted the position of manager of Novelteas. Edward is Luke’s friend and chauffeur. They quite obviously have the hots for each other, but both think they’re not good enough for the other. The book is not too long and easy to read, with the story flowing well. I love these two together – they have amazing and sometimes amusing conversations. He’s the one who puts on the brakes, though, wanting to take things slow. The honesty between them is refreshing, with no games. I love her hobby!

Book two in the series brings Karen and Edward’s story. They have a steamy chemistry and smoldering passion but also face some drama. The author paints her scenes vividly and moves the story quickly and smoothly. I enjoyed reading their story.

One shouldn’t jump to conclusions.

Her best friend was being annoying again as she pointed out the guy she’d been so dreamingly fawning over was shackled free with no ball insight.
And the thought of trying to make small talk? No she wasn’t to sure of herself anymore.
However her friend Claire just ignored her and kept pointing out all his best colors and the hobbies she thought they had in common.
Karen never expected to be offered a bump up in her job title but now that she was being given one she was anything but a fool.
Oorah….
Edward was enjoying the beautiful scenery she was wearing pale pink and her name was Karen.
Okay so his first opinions of her had been over harsh and quite undeserving.
Apparently the green eyed monster just saw fit to take a huge chunk out of his gluteus maximus and athough he hadn’t staked his so called claim on her; he swore the boy would rue the day if his hands moved any lower.
Karen had been forever grateful that Edward showed up and she was pretty sure her previous dance party wasn’t one a his favorite chums.
Edward point out that idiot’s reputation and for pursing girls and that his invite didn’t mean what she thought it did.
However she knew the other guy’s modus operandi and she was pretty sure they weren’t exchanging consonants and vowels.
Edward hated to be the bearer of bad news however if the newly Weds wanted to make their flight they needed to leave right now and he had no intentions of leaving Karen there.
He had to hand it to her she knew how to attain anyone’s attentions and more ways then one.
Nevertheless he strives to spend as much time with Karen but he knew the second he said something the wrong way and in turn contracted a version of foot and mouth disease.
Karen had at first been nearly crushed by his words still he wouldn’t let her push him out and once he smoothly corrected his error and won a date with her.
Sunday mornings were for his family and being a no show wasn’t acceptable move.
Still he showed up wearing a big smile and silently grit his teeth because neither he nor his dad could figure out how to bridge the grand canyon between them.
As first dates went Karen couldn’t help but smile he picked an absolutely beautiful spot.
Edward hadn’t expected to enter the twilight zone when he went to pay his girl a visit at her job.
Nope not his best moments and for some reason she forgot to mention where both of her older brothers worked.
It wasn’t that he was keeping secrets or any such thing he only wanted to share certain things from his past in his own time.
As a young man Edward learned many lessons the hard way
Anger and wisdom mix as well as sharks and tornadoes or the fact
he’d unfortunately fell victim to his own stupidity an irrational emotions on top of a flair for wild escapades.
But the price I paid for my misdeeds was schlepping from one dead in job to the next until I was almost at the end of my rope.
However as the old adage goes fortune indeed favored the bold.
Her own tale was filled with pain and humiliation but Edward deserved no less then totally honesty from particularly since he owned up to his past.
Frankly she was done with the past she wasn’t allowing it to dictate her now.

This is the 3rd book I’ve read written by Jennie Kew; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

Quick read with good character development
I did not read Revenge and Redemption, the first in the Brisbane Bachelors series. Sacrifice and Seduction follows on from this but can be read as a standalone, although it would seem the characters met and had some interaction in the previous book. I loved that the interaction between Karen and Edward were both very funny abut also serious and heartfelt. A chauffeur from a rich family, with a criminal record is not the usual hero and if you then throw in the daughter in a cop family, there are bound to be some issues….
But the angst in the book was not from outside forces, but rather the emotional scars, concerns and insecurities of our characters – And that makes for a great, albeit shorter story.

I enjoyed reading about the growth in this relationship.
The trials, the drama and the passion.
The chemistry between the H and h is incredible.
There is no misunderstanding or wasted time.
So much has been put into the story in such a short time.
