Sleeping with the enemy?Well, now she works for me.Rian was my rival in college, vying for the same internship.Sometimes enemies are fire between the sheets—we were. Until she walked off with the internship. Now, the smart-mouthed beauty who always kept me guessing got downsized and takes a job out in Nebraska out of desperation. She’s working for me.I don’t mind her working under me, but I’d … don’t mind her working under me, but I’d rather have her in bed.
Or across this desk.
Her ideas are brilliant and the flirting is hot, so we’re playing with fire.
Against company regulations, we have a blazing secret affair.
I can’t get enough of her, and I know she feels the same way.
Everything’s like a fantasy until a phone call sends her into a panic, and our sexy business trip is cut short.
Because Rian has a secret.
She took more from me than that internship in college.
She has a daughter—my daughter.
A child who was kept secret from me by the enemy I’ve come to love.
Nothing can ever be the same now that I know her secret.

I enjoyed this book it really makes you think about decisions you make and how it effects other people around you. Rian made a very huge decision that came back and bit her in the butt, and that decision was one that affected Wes without him even having a say so. This is a great book to have you enthralled from the very start.

The story has an interesting premise of college competitors 7 years later with her now the employee and him the boss… and she had a last minute baby with him last day of college. It has a good built and issues to resolve. It took 2 to 3 times as many words with excruciating depth and lots of steamy sex to tell the short story. Would have been better without so much detail. I would like to see Devin’s story.
Can i say this is a second chance romance even though Rian and Wes spent one night together when they were in college? They were rivals in college and not enemies so i cant call this an enemies to lovers romance either…..it is definitely a secret baby romance… i really enjoyed reading this book as it was not your typical book as the storyline was different to anything else i have read before.
When Rian walks into her first day at work the CEO is someone she knew in college….if she had known that he was her new boss she would have never taken the job……not only did she steal the job that he wanted from under his nose but she has kept a secret from him for 7 years…..

Wes had just taken over as CEO after his boss went into semi retirement. He was looking forward to meeting his new employee until he read the name on the file. Rian was a one night stand in college, who left him without a goodbye and got the internship he really wanted. Boy, was she surprised who her boss was. She did not know he worked there because she was hired by the retired CEO. She would not have taken the job, because she felt guilty when she left him and did not tell him he was a father to her little girl.
This is a hot and steamy, contemporary romance and an enemies to lovers story. The characters are personable, full of life but definitely not perfect. They draw you into the story and keep you invested in their lives. The storyline is chalked full of emotional drama as the characters deal with their internal struggles with the past, guilt, insecurities, poor decisions and romantic feelings. Add to that some obstacles and surprising twists and you find yourself following along with the characters progress. The hot sex scenes fit well into the storyline. The narrative alternates between the two main characters giving both points of view. If you like well written, hot steamy contemporary romantic stories, you will find this one quite enjoyable.
Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. Rian and Wes are college sweethearts at the end of college went their separate ways, now seven years later he is her boss and she kept a secret until near the end. Hot and steamy, lust, betrayal and love.

Why oh why was the baby a secret???
I have read a number of Annie J. Rose’s book but this one I just could not get into. I really had a hard time with the basic premise that the h would not tell the H that she is pregnant. He is a great guy with no substance abuse problems nor does he abuse her, they are starting out on their careers nor is she is not on the run from something dangerous. So I just could not understand how she would keep the fact that she was pregnant and has the baby all to herself.
While I think the story is well written it is the fundamental basic concept of the story-line that I have an issue with. So for me I could not connect with this story and all the unnecessary drama, hurt feelings and most likely what will be huge therapy bills for the kid later in life.

I love her books! This is a second chance romance with a secret baby to add to the drama! Wes is the new CEO of his company and he is where he always wanted to be in life, even if he is alone. He gets the shock of his life when he finds out his new hire is his college ex! Rian has left NYC, the dream and job not what she thought when she left college and she has her daughter to support too. She has no idea who her boss really is and she tries very hard to keep her daughter from him, not wanting to explain her actions years ago. Of course something happens between them and soon he finds out her secret. Love their story, drama, passion, all of it!!
An enjoyable second chance romance! The story line is well-developed, fast pace, witty, emotionally deep, well written, and relatable with some ups and downs and office drama. Loveable characters; their chemistry is intense, and off the charts! Definitely recommended!

This is a second chance romance.
While in college Rian and Wes were going
for the same internship. As you can guess
one got it. They had one night together and one
left years later got a job and found out the boss was
there college sweetheart.
Will they get there happy ever after this time around.

Wes and Rian were college rivals after the same internship who end up having a one night stand. Years later they meet again but Rian has a secret. This is a second chance love story that is well written and filled with drama, emotion, steam and a great ending.
This book did not do it for me. The characters were all over the place with no real depth. The last straw was when Wes proposed after basically telling Rian that he cannot trust her. Not for me.

Rian and Wes were college rivals and lovers. When Rian got the internship that they both wanted she didn’t say anything to Wes they shared an amazing night together and she left for the internship without saying goodbye. Now years later she’s back in Nebraska for a new job and when she walks in to see her new boss she’s surprised to see Wes. Wes is surprised when Rian is the new hire and wonders what has brought her back to Nebraska. Rian has to make this job work because she has been downsized twice now from her previous jobs and doesn’t want to move her daughter again. She gets down to work and is doing a great job when she has to go out of town for work. So her assistant offers to watch her daughter while she’s gone. However something happens and her daughter gets hurt and she needs to get back quickly so Wes comes back with her. Once Wes sees Rian’s daughter her secret is no longer a secret. Their one night together created their daughter. What will he do? Can they make their relationship work?
This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

The wonderfully written storyline hooked me right from the very beginning and the characters were so well rounded that as each and every page was turned I felt like Rian and Wes pulled me right into their story as it unfolded!
This was an enjoyable story to read. Good storyline with in-depth characters. One of those times where communication, or lack of, makes all the difference.
Rian and Wes were very competitive in their small town Nebraska college. When he taunted her to try for the internship that he was after in New York City, she didn’t really think should would get it over him. At a graduation party, he saves her from a drunk who was all over her. He ends up taking her home and they enjoy each other through the night. The next day she left for New York. She didn’t contact him again. Seven years later, she applies for a job back home in Nebraska after losing her job in NYC. After moving and showing up on her first day, she sees that her new boss just so happens to be Wes. She was hired by the owner of the company, George, who has since retired and put Wes in charge. She has to figure out a way to work things out with her job. She can’t uproot her daughter again after just moving here.
Wes is now the CEO of the company he has worked hard at forever. When George, the owner, wanted to retire, he put Wes in charge. He forgot to inform him that he hired a new person for Innovations. She is great in that position, but I can’t keep my mind off of her. When we are together, it is all that I can do to keep my hands off of her. When we are pitching for the Investors in NYC and she gets a call about a daughter that I didn’t know she has, we fly right back. When I see her daughter, I know she is mine.

This was a sweet second chance romance with a couple of twists.
The heroin felt a little naive, but other than that it was a good read.

Well who expects that their enemy is now going to be be working for them? Wes and Rian competed in college but when one night he saves her and one night she has kept secrets from him,but now she finds herself face to face with the one man who could cause her some problems. This book was absolutely fantastic and the storyline flowed from the beginning until the end. This is my first book from this awesome author and cant wait for more.
The Perfect Synchronicity of Life
Eight years ago, college senior Rian James was awarded an internship with Tadwick Design Co. in New York City. The thing was, she had not even known about or considered applying for the internship until she heard one of her rival classmates, Wes Brown, waxing eloquent about the opportunity and his chances of nailing the position. On the night before graduation, Rian was celebrating her academic achievements, but she also was privately celebrating being awarded the Tadwick Design internship. Ironically, when an over amorous drunk student attempts to force himself on Rian, it is Wes who intervenes, and it is Wes with whom she spends one of her last nights in Nebraska.
Now, eight years later having been terminated by Tadwick Design Co. where her internship had become a job, merger and downsizing has made her a redundancy, she is returning to Nebraska having accepted a job from George Austin, CEO of GBC. She returns with her talents, experience and her 7-year-old daughter to become the new manager of the innovations section. Imagine her surprise when on her first day on the job, she is introduced to the new acting CEO of GBC, none other than Wes Brown, her college rival, her college one-nightstand, and her daughter, Ronny’s father.
Annie J. Rose is a masterful writer who engages the reader’s emotions and mind. She captures well the constant concerns of a single mom who knows that every decision affects not just the adult, but also the child. Rose powerfully captures the emotional challenges that mom faces when she realizes that introducing a love interest into her small family will touch not only her, but also her child. Rose handles these emotional issues with gentleness and awareness, making the romance not only a sweet story, but also a thoughtful reflection of a single mom’s struggle. This is a novel that not only entertains, but also provoke the reader’s contemplation of these tender family relationships.
