Sleeping with the enemy?Well, now she works for me.Rian was my rival in college, vying for the same internship.Sometimes enemies are fire between the sheets—we were. Until she walked off with the internship. Now, the smart-mouthed beauty who always kept me guessing got downsized and takes a job out in Nebraska out of desperation. She’s working for me.I don’t mind her working under me, but I’d … don’t mind her working under me, but I’d rather have her in bed.
Or across this desk.
Her ideas are brilliant and the flirting is hot, so we’re playing with fire.
Against company regulations, we have a blazing secret affair.
I can’t get enough of her, and I know she feels the same way.
Everything’s like a fantasy until a phone call sends her into a panic, and our sexy business trip is cut short.
Because Rian has a secret.
She took more from me than that internship in college.
She has a daughter—my daughter.
A child who was kept secret from me by the enemy I’ve come to love.
Nothing can ever be the same now that I know her secret.

I can’t imagine how I would handle the situation that Rian finds herself in when she returns home to Nebraska after several years and a huge secret. Especially, when that secret involves Wes a rival, a one-night stand, her new boss and the father of her seven year old daughter Ronny but, she goes with her logic and perspective. Rian never told Wes about being pregnant nor, he‘s a father. Rian’s secrets keep multiplying in order to keep her secret and her new job. She is just trying to do what she thinks is best even if there‘s doubt and guilt.
I enjoyed the story and found myself trying to predict what the characters reactions would be as the secrets unfold. Other than, the bit of redunant thoughts that go through Wes and Rian’s minds, I think they both display a mature stand and try to see each other’s point of view. They manage to forge a path towards a future, that is, until Beth, Wes‘s assistant who takes an instant dislike towards Rian. The story keeps you interested to see how their story ends and for what the future may hold for this little family.

I had a hard time deciding what to rate this book because I normally enjoy everything this author writes but I never really understood why Rian had kept her pregnancy a secret from Wes. From all indications, he was a good guy and would have been a good father. So what if they were just out of college and the pregnancy was the result of a one-night stand? He had a right to know! And then she keeps his daughter a secret for six years with no intention of ever telling Wes that he was a father??? That is just Wrong, Wrong, Wrong!!!
I really, really did not like Rian! Throughout the whole book, she comes across as selfish and self-serving in only considering how things will affect her! She never thinks about Wes or Ronny and how they have been impacted by her decisions and how it would benefit Ronny to develop a loving relationship with her father! She had deprived that sweet little girl of that relationship for six years already and she did not plan on ever-changing that! So she would have denied Ronny a father for her entire life simply because she was afraid that Wes would not understand?? Huh?? How does that make any sense??
I thought Wes was great! From the very beginning it showed in how even though he was now the CEO, he continued to honor the practices the now semi-retired CEO had put in place and did not immediately assert his power by making sweeping changes within the company even though he had ideas on how he wanted things to be done differently. One change he should have made though should have been to remove Beth from any position of authority in the company because she was trouble with a capital T!!! He was the kind of boss everyone wishes they could have!!

S IS FOR SECRET BABY has a bit of a unique twist to it, I think. The storyline feels like it is different from anything I have read before. Which is a very good thing. The ‘secret baby’ angle is the same, but the actual story has a few twists and turns that sparked my interest.
I thought the storyline was solid. I found the characters engaging, which for me is way more than half the battle in reading any book! If I’m invested in the characters’ lives as I read the pages, well, we’ve got a winner. Hence, this book was a winner.
I’ve been a huge fan of Annie J Rose for a while. This book only cements that fandom.
Everything had me hooked from the start… The writing, the characters, the secrets, the “villain”. I just couldn’t put it down because I want to see what happened when the secret came out and I was surprised by the reaction. You will just have to read it and enjoy it the way that I did!!

3.5
Not sure if I am tired of secret kid books with the kids being over a certain age or if there was something just slightly off with this read.
I didn’t really gel with either character, but definitely not with Rian. Maybe it was the way she kept the pregnancy secret and then Ronny . Or if it was how she treated Rian. Or all of the above.
Not a bad read just not great.

Rian and Wes hooked up one night in college and she left after beating him out for an internship. Fast forward seven years…Wes is the CEO of a company in a small town in Nebraska. The owner had hired an innovation manager. Wes’s assistant was not very happy with the choice either…come to find out it is Rian. They are shocked to see one another but decide to give things a trial run. Rian has a huge secret though; she has Wes’s daughter who is six and he knows nothing about her. While away on a trip, Ronny gets hurt and ends up in the hospital. When Wes takes her there, he captures a glimpse of the girl. Right away he knew she was his! The two had been intimate several times by now and he is livid this was withheld. As they work through the issues, someone is out to sabotage what they are building! Who is it and why? It almost costs them both everything and a business partner of Wes’s will help ensure things go better! This is a great second chance romance with a HEA~I received this as via Booksprout and am leaving a voluntary review.

Rian kept her baby a secret for over six years. When Rian moved back to Nebraska, the baby’s father was her new boss. The story deals with how she continued to keep her secret- constantly being on alert and scared Wes would find out and how he would react. There is a happy ending. I do highly recommend S Is For Secret Baby by Annie J. Rose.

Wes is a bit overloaded with work. He’s taking in extra responsibility as CEO now that the owner is semi-retired but he would never complain about that. He loves his job and his company, he even loves his small town Nebraska life and the feeling of community.
One of the last things the owner did before stepping away was hire an new innovations manager. Wes wasn’t expecting Rian. Rian was his old nemesis and the person who nabbed his dream internship away from him. They have a past, not all of it bad especially one crazy night together and their chemistry is just as strong now even though so much time has passed. Rian also has a 6 year old daughter named Ronny, one guess who the daddy is…
If you enjoy this genre of story then this is a good book to grab. We have the secret baby who’s now a little lady with her own personality. We also have a single mother who gets to debate if she tells the father while at the same time trying to resist the attraction between them. This book is fun and a nice way to pass a couple hours.

Rian and Wes had always been competitive during college, except for one night. Rian left for New York the following day without contacting him. She was hired by the firm where Wes was the CEO eight years later unbeknownst to either one. Their mis and non communication continued when they tried romance again. Good read!
