Candice: One damn kiss. A kiss that not only destroyed our future but ended my ability to believe, to trust, to love. That kiss was supposed to be the start of our forever. Instead, it marked the beginning of our end. He was my best friend. We should have known better.Three years kept us apart. Now, Ryan’s coming home. I’m older, wiser, and no longer the starry-eyed girl who followed his every … starry-eyed girl who followed his every command. Yet an invisible rope continues to tug at us like no time has passed at all.
He almost destroyed me last time. I won’t give him a chance to do it again.
I can’t. I won’t. Will I?

Ryan’s Kiss sucked me into it’s pages from the start. It was a page turner and very difficult book to put down. I loved reading Candice and Ryan’s story. I liked how the book floated perfectly from Then and Now. Each time the story switched it picked up perfectly where it left off.
The love these two character’s felt for each other was beautiful. That just when I was hoping the characters would get it right in college that it instead left me an emotional mess. It took just a bit longer then college for Ryan to get his “Candy Girl”. In the end this beautiful couple recieve their HEA.
This is a must read and I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series, “Aaron’s Heart.”
I received an ARC of Ryan’s Kiss by Mel Walker and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. I loved that the male lead was a volleyball player and not the usual football or hockey star. This story was sweet but torturous at the same time. You could tell that Ryan and Candice had feelings for each other and I found myself wanting to scream at them to get with the program! It was definitely a slow burn romance. And it always makes me happy when the “ugly duckling” gets the guy!!
“Love is love. It’s everywhere, and it conquers”
My goodness this book!!! I love that quote!!!
I was hooked from the beginning and could not put it down. I fell in love with Ryan and Candice from the beginning. The way there relationship blossomed was everything. I had flutters in my tummy one page and I was needing tissues the next.
At first I was won over by Ryan’s sweetness. But then he grew on me more. He was the whole package – incredibly hot, thoughtful, loving, smart and so damb sweet. He was raised with amazing family values that played a big part in his decisions. His heart was always in the right place with anything to do with Candice (aka Candy girl), if at times he should have done things slightly differently!
Candice was an intelligent beautiful women who lacked confidence and Ryan bought this out in her. She was also very determined to succeed in everything that she did.
There story was beautiful, raw and emotional in every way!
I loved the rest of the characters as well, especially both their fathers. I’m hoping Aaron and Mia’s story is next??!!
I considered not commenting on this but then decided I would … it’s with regards to the ‘then’ and ‘now’ chapters. Admittedly I don’t particularly like books that go back and forth from past to present but wow was I surprised with this book! It suited it and with such perfect writing it flowed beautifully. The past chapters were not long and drawn out so it wasn’t long before you were back to the now which I was craving – and this worked both ways too!!
It was absolute perfection! A fantastic book from a new author to me that I will definitely read more of!
This is the first book I’ve read from this author. I love that this is a second chance love story that will have you falling in love with this story.
This second chance romance story was a slow burn that kept me totally glued to my kindle from the very beginning! Candice and Ryan kept me totally engaged as their journey unfolded which made this book a real page turner!
Candice and Ryan had a past and one that left them both hurt and wanting more. Years later they meet again and the sparks fly once again but can they let go of the past to find a future together? I loved this book and the characters were so riveting. This is one author I will read again. Great story and highly recommended.
Ryan’s Kiss is the first book I have read by Mel Walker. At first I really did not like the going back and forth between Then and Now, but the farther I got in the book, the more I understood why it was done this way. Ryan is captain of the volleyball team and big man on campus. Candice is a nerdy bookworm. Ryan’s mom passes away, and he decides he wants to double-major in economics. Candice is asked by her econ professor to tutor Ryan. That is the start of a beautiful friendship between the two. They hit it off right away over both of them losing their mom’s. The chemistry is their, and it is so nice to see how their friendship grows. You get the feeling they both “love” each other, but neither is willing to profess their love. At times you want to shake both of them. Fast forward 3 years from college graduation, and they are going to finally talk about why they haven’t talked for 3 years. I want to say so much more, but really don’t want to give away too much of the story line, because you really need to read it and follow it. Ryan is an amazing guy, and his actions really speak more than what he said…and you see all of that in the end. Love when best friends fall in love, and second chances….so this one is the best of both. Looking forward to the next book, which I am hoping will be about Aaron and Mia. The dads were both great characters as well.
A beautiful story about true love and second chances. Ryan and Candice were best friends. Then everything fell apart. Three years later Ryan is back. He has finally woken up and realised that he had the best and now wanted her back. I did like the then and now scenes. It really made you understand the characters and how they were feeling. It was gorgeous story. Highly recommend!!
This is the first book I have read by Mel Walker and I absolutely loved it! This was an amazing start to this series! Second chance romances are my favorite books to read and Ryan’s Kiss made that even more so. I can’t wait to read book 2 in this series!
A really great second chance story.
I really enjoyed this book, there was some flipping between the past and the present but you could follow the storyline through these.
A very sweet second chance love story. I found the storyline interesting and enjoyable. The characters were very likeable and easy to read about. They had their ups and downs but I found myself enjoying how the story unfolded. A very good story.
Ryan’s Kiss by Mel Walker is the first book I have read from this author and I look forward to reading more of his books. This is a well written second chance love story that holds your attention from beginning to end. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.
Wow wow wow, I want more. Ryanand Candice are a match made in heaven. This book was fantastic. I loved reading every single second of this book. As soon as I started it I knew that I would not be able to put it down. Highly recommended.
I was hooked from the start. This book keeps u so engaged. I love Ryan and Candices story. Love wins.
I LOVED IT!!!
Candice Wells is your nerdy, smart girl in every sense of the word. But when she meets Ryan Parker volleyball jock her life turns upside down, in more ways than one.
Ryan Parker a jock who has decided to make a change in his college career enlists the help of Candice to help him along. He didn’t think that he could want more than what he had. But life had a few tricks up its sleeve.
This book was absolutely amazing. I couldn’t believe what happened with these two and how they came to be. Best friends at first on the way to their forever, it’s a beautiful love story. It touched my heart and made me see that true love does exist.
4.5 Stars!
I love a GOOD second chance, friends to lovers story and Mel delivered. I got swept up in Candice and Ryan’s story, I could almost “feel” the emotions because I could relate to the characters. While I’m not always a fan of the back in forth between past and present, it worked for the build up of this one. I loved the changes in Candice, yet she was the same girl Ryan left behind for his career. There are points in this one I wanted to yell Ryan stop, open your eyes or stop playing with the poor girls heart! I love that it wasn’t easy for Ryan to come back and just pick right up with his friendship with Candice, yet it was perfect!
This is the first book I have read from this writer. I absolutely love second chance at love books and this is a great one. Best friends but she wants more . But then one night ruins it all. Years later they come back together. Will the past destroy them or will they get past it? Loved this storyline loved these characters. Gripping from beginning to end. I absolutely loved this book. Can’t wait to read the next one.
I didn’t know what to expect from this new author but what I got was a wonderful friends to lovers romance read. I was stuck from the start as we are introduced to Candance and Ryan and join their journey of friendship and love. I loved how the author brings his characters story to life, the heartache, pain, sweet innocence and finally love. This was an emotional and enjoyable story that I highly recommend.
This is a new author to me, and what a great introduction this is. Their relationship starts off as student / tutor, and because of a lack of communication he moves away. Now a few years later he is back, and she is not the starry eyed girl he left behind. Will these two have a second chance at love? This is a well written story which is intense and emotional, which all had me intrigued and hooked throughout. I recommend for all.
What an incredible read!! I truly fell in love with the characters & their families. I LOL’d, I cried and there were times I wanted to deck a character (or two) while reading this story. I highly recommend this book & am looking forward to starting book #2, Aaron’s Heart, in the Lake Hope series tomorrow.
