I’m the girl nobody sees. That is, until I move next door to Parker High’s most eligible bastard, Tristan Blackwood. He’s gorgeous. Eyes as cold as moonlight. Lips made for cruel kisses. The entire town knows it, too. Apparently being able to throw a football elevates you to god status around here.He could have anything he wanted. Anyone. But somehow, all he wanted was to torment me.Me, trapped in … all he wanted was to torment me.
Me, trapped in my mom’s protective bubble: homeschooled and invisible, stuck in a wheelchair and saddled with more medical issues than I could count. Normal? I might as well wish to be a fairytale princess.
There aren’t any princesses or knights in my fairytale. Just the dark prince who lives next door. Parker High royalty in the flesh. My very own devil in a letterman jacket.
His life should be a dream, but the only thing he cares about is becoming my nightmare.
And when my pride isn’t enough for him, he decides he wants my body.
He wants my heart.
He wants every last inch of me to himself.

Ruthless Love is aptly named. It was pretty pretty easy from the start to guess what was going on with Kennedy but I loved the book. It pulled me in from page one. I liked the characters. Kennedy is kind of sweet, a little innocent, wholly sympathetic and likable. Tristan is the bad boy with a heart of gold who hides the truth of his painful life from everyone he knows. The story pace is just right and never lags. I really enjoyed it. 4.5 stars.

When i started reading this book i expected the typical high school bully story were boy meets girl, boy torments girl, boy falls in love with girl and chases after girl seeking her forgiveness and they have their HEA……what a surprise!!!!
This book delves into a subject that will have you absolutely shocked at the depths someone will go to to keep someone…..and nope we are not talking about the bad boy bully here…he actually turns out to be a knight in shining armour that hides his feelings by being indifferent and cold to the point that he could be brutal …
I really dont want to reveal anything of the story so i recommend you read this book as its one of those books that you will be thinking about for a while..

Another good read – not at all what I expected but interesting all the same. Lots of good characters and engaging once you get into it.
Loved it. A unique story line, one that I have not read before. Tristan and Kennedy go through a lot separately, which makes it easier to see the connection between them.
A wonderful well written young bad boy bullying young romance story. This engaging storyline had me addicted page after page. It is written in awesome dual POV that is unique with lots of twists and turns, secrets, intrigue, angst, protectiveness, determination, love and bravery. A great faced paced story with showing of vulnerability and thoughtfulness. I voluntarily read and reviewed this incredible ARC.
Targeting the brand-new girl in a wheelchair, no less …
—>>> Review Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars – Tristan Blackwood certain plays the role of bully, cruel and ruthlessly targeting the brand new girl in a wheelchair, no less. Certainly an easy target for him, but Kennedy also just happened to move into her new home and begins attending his school, so way too close for Tristan’s comfort and the big secret he kept from everyone.
The twists and turns and secrets are revealed, and we witness the gradual protectiveness of Tristan and his posse for Kennedy, but the relationship did not really develop enough for me as the story unfolded. He had a cute side to him which proved he paid attention, but I’m not really throwing Tristan any medals based on his decision to pull away from Kennedy at the time when he learns a truth which could harm Kennedy irrevocably, who was his girlfriend at the time, but then again, it is high school and that may just explain more than half of what when on?
I had a hard time with this book because I usually love this author’s books. It took me a while to get into Ruthless Love. I can’t explain why I felt that way but I pushed through and I am so glad I did because it turned out to be a good read. I loved Kennedy and for me, Tristan started out horrible but he grew on me and by the end of the book he redeemed himself. I look forward to the next Penelope Bloom book.
The sweetness of a love born out of adversity and pain!
by sewsummore
When you are young you think everything that her parents tell you is the truth. At least Kennedy believed it and spent her whole childhood from the age of five believing she had terrible disease that left her weak and dizzy all the time. Too sick to go to school, she was home schooled until her last year of high school. They had moved to a new place and her mother was unable to teach her because of the shifts she worked as a nurse. Finally Kennedy was able to meet other young people her age. It was difficult as well because she was tied to a wheel chair but she was happy anyway. Tristan was a boy who lived alone close to her house, they had a love hate relationship at first but she made him a better person from the resentful, angry young man he had become after he was abandoned by his parents three years earlier. The more time they spent together, the closer they became and when she learnt that her mother had been causing her symptons from the beginning.Tristan was able to re-unite Kennedy with her father and in doing so Tristan had gained a man who finally treated him like a son. This was a powerful story of damaged love and the sweetness of a love born out of adversity and pain.

An enjoyable fast pace enemies to lovers romance! The story line is well-developed, emotionally deep, engaging, witty, funny, and well written with drama, suspense, secrets, twists and turns, and much more. Likeable strong characters; their chemistry is off the charts! Definitely recommended!

I quite enjoyed reading this very unique romance that has an interesting plot with a slow-burn undertone. The characters are quite well-developed & go from enemies to lovers while continuing to develop throughout the story-line.
There is: a young disabled woman (Kennedy) & her mother apparently on the run from a abusive father & husband but the bully (Tristan) that is attracted to Kennedy realizes that something is not quite right, drama, intrigue, twists & turns, some humor, secrets, strange attractions, confrontations, misunderstandings, threats, heartache, illness, verbal banter, spitefulness, suspicions, discovery, deceit, betrayal, law enforcement, caring friends, compromises, contentment, steamy scenes & a satisfying conclusion.
The book cover is misleading…it does not look like a high-schooler, IMO. SO I was surprised when I started reading and realized it was about two seniors. Kennedy has moved to a new town with her mother. Kennedy is in a wheelchair and has been homeschooled. She begs her mom to finally let her attend high school and eventually, her mother begrudgingly agrees. Tristian is the QB and lives up the driveway from Kennedy. He thinks Kennedy has overheard a secret and bullies her. This was an amazing read although somewhat predictable. A great read!

Simultaneously harsh and touching
First, let me say that it is hard for me to imagine how these young folks can be so likable. Even the so-called bully/hero holds so much justified anger and sorrow that it is clear – the hurt he dishes out is the mirror of the hurt he has been dealt. The heroine, “Wheels,’ reveals an absolutely magnetic combination of innocence and quiet courage. Though the humor is far darker in tone than other works by Penelope Bloom that I have read, there is still a bit of the silver-lining optimism and good feels that she’s noted for. Her bittersweet adolescents should be repulsive, but they are not. Instead, you want to hug them, save them, protect them – but Ms. Bloom sees to it that they do that for themselves, and each other. Strangely insightful, hopefully improbable, and deeply character-driven, this is the YA romance of the year. This is a voluntary ARC review.
Not all is as it seems
Kennedy has been sheltered by her mother for her entire life. Because of some mysterious illnesses, she’s confined to a wheelchair so her mother has homeschooled her even though Kennedy longs to go to school. When they move to a new town, Kennedy hopes things will change. But she never dreamed how they would change.
Tristan is trying to keep his secrets so he keeps everyone at arm’s length. But he doesn’t seem to be able to stay away from Kennedy. He bullies her thinking she’ll stay away from him. But it just makes her more determined to stand up to him. Who will win this battle of the wills?
Sickly Kennedy Stills is homeschooled and doesn’t get out much so she’s thrilled when her mother allows her to enrol at Parker High after they move to a new home. Too bad Kennedy’s handsome but mysterious neighbour Tristan Blackwood, a popular quarterback at Park High, seems determined to make Kennedy’s life miserable. What happens when Kennedy’s assigned to film a football recruitment video of Tristan for a school project?
Ruthless Love is an angsty, sweet and steamy story full of twists and turns that will suck you in.
I wasn’t sure I would like this book once I started it. But as I starting easing more I couldn’t stop. This isn’t like any book I’ve ever read. It was incredible. Tristan is a villain you learn to love. And Kennedy is a girl that has so much against her but she is fighter and won’t back down from anything or anyone. She is a heroine and you will cheer her on while she fights for her life and her love. Epic read and I highly recommend it.

This book had my attention from the beginning and kept it. I loved that this was different than things I have read before. I loved Kennedy and how strong she was. I also loved that Tristan was so much more than he seemed. This was definitely a book I will reread.

This book was different from what Penelope Bloom normally writes, but the blurb had me intrigued. I was hooked from the first page. I will admit that I figured the twist out pretty early on, but it was still a great book. Tristan and Kennedy were total opposites but their attraction was undeniable. Tristan was definitely a bully to Kennedy at first, but there was so much more to his character. You couldn’t help but love him. Kennedy was such a strong character even though she had been sheltered and secluded her whole life. I really enjoyed this book.
*Spoiers* The book was good and it kept my attention right away. I believe that Kennedy’s mother is abusing her power as a nurse when it comes to taking care of here daughter. Kennedy and her mom move to a new town hoping for a fresh start in a new place. She meets Tristan at he new school and he is mean to her because overhead a conversation that she wasn’t supposed to hear. We find out that Tristan lives by himself and that we know little about his family which I find kinda weird. Tristan is able to show Kennedy that there is more to life. Kennedy eventually reconnects with dad but we don’t know how her mother got all control over her daughter. Things get better between Tristan and Kennedy. I am glad that Kennedy and Tristan got there happy ending and that Kennedy’s mom got the help she finally needed.

Ruthless Love is a fascinating story that captures the essence of the main characters and ordeals that resonates around them. I absolutely loved this story. The storyline was so interesting that it completely captivated me and was so intriguing that I couldn’t stop reading it until I finished with the very last word. I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for an amazing book. Enjoy happy reading

Loved reading the fabulous and fantastic romance story. Kennedy lives with her mom, has a serious illness, is stuck in a wheelchair, and one of the high school football stars, Tristan, has made it his goal to become Kennedy’s worst nightmare because she overheard a conversation between Tristan and his dad. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, riveting the reader from the first page until the last page, and a must read love story.
