I’m the girl nobody sees. That is, until I move next door to Parker High’s most eligible bastard, Tristan Blackwood. He’s gorgeous. Eyes as cold as moonlight. Lips made for cruel kisses. The entire town knows it, too. Apparently being able to throw a football elevates you to god status around here.He could have anything he wanted. Anyone. But somehow, all he wanted was to torment me.Me, trapped in … all he wanted was to torment me.
Me, trapped in my mom’s protective bubble: homeschooled and invisible, stuck in a wheelchair and saddled with more medical issues than I could count. Normal? I might as well wish to be a fairytale princess.
There aren’t any princesses or knights in my fairytale. Just the dark prince who lives next door. Parker High royalty in the flesh. My very own devil in a letterman jacket.
His life should be a dream, but the only thing he cares about is becoming my nightmare.
And when my pride isn’t enough for him, he decides he wants my body.
He wants my heart.
He wants every last inch of me to himself.

This book was just so heart-wrenching beautiful!!
Sometimes Life isn’t all it’s cracked-up to be. Sometime love is never as easy as it seems, especially for these two, both trying to live a life where each have something to live for; each other.
Such a great book. So lifelike, so much sentiment.

This was an interesting bully type romance, it wasn’t dark, but Tristan did bully poor Kennedy around for what he thought was an acceptable reason, yet it turns out that it wasn’t. Kennedy is introduced to us as a sick girl that has to stay in a wheel chair because her “conditions” make her dizzy and she has had these “conditions” as long as she can remember, but it isn’t hard to figure out what is really going on and it made me so upset and hurt for her. Eventually Tristan realizes that by tormenting Kennedy he actually cares for her in his own messed up way, and the more we read the more curious I was to find out why Tristan acted the way he did and I was a little disappointed that it wasn’t as dramatic as I thought it should be or expanded on more. I did enjoy this read and I am very curious about the other guys, I was glad that even though they both had been through a lot that Tristan and Kennedy resolved their issues but never lost their fun banter they had with each other. In the end Tristan helps Kennedy learn to live life, let go and have fun and Kennedy in turn teaches Tristan that love is unconditional and its ok to lean on others sometimes.
I loved this book so much. There just aren’t words for it. It tore my heart open and sealed the back together all over again. Beautifully written!!
This is not your typical high school jock falling for the nerd love story. There are many twist and turns it is sad and gritty. I think the ending because it is a love story wrapped it up nicely but a bit easy given all the characters went through. I did enjoy it and recommend for anyone looking for something a bit darker.
I don’t usually read “high school genre” but something about this book caught my attention.
Kennedy, 17, is new to the area. She is in a wheelchair but not because her legs don’t work but because of the weakness and dizziness her “conditions” cause. Tristan, 18, lives next to (or really down the road) in a mansion basically.
First time they ever see one another…Kennedy in the yard and Tristan driving past, stopping and lowering the window to stare at Kennedy arrogantly for a moment then closing the window and driving on.
Tristan is one of the most popular kids in school. He is on the football team and apparently rich. He throws great parties also. He doesn’t treat people well and this treatment will extend to Kennedy. I think what really draws Kennedy to him is that she isn’t afraid to tell him what a jerk she thinks he is.
As she has been home-schooled most of her life, Kennedy talks her mom into letting her attend her senior year of school. Her mother is resistant at first but soon changes her mind as she often works double shifts as a nurse and is exhausted but makes it a point she is not happy about it.
One of the classes Kennedy has is a videography class and half their grade is a project to make a video of a specific football player to present for a possible college scholarship. This was to capture them on and off the field. Guess who is chosen for Kennedy….Tristan.
Little by little, Kennedy does see another side of Tristan and Tristan starts to feel differently about Kennedy. Tristan is also suspicious about Kennedy’s “conditions” that keep her in a wheelchair. Kennedy’s mom is also not very happy about Tristan’s interest in her daughter.
Something happens, actually beyond Tristan’s control, and hr feels he has to push Kennedy away for her own safety but will Kennedy put up with it and not fight for him?
Both of these teens were abused in totally different ways and it really angered me as a mother! So as I got drawn into the story I wanted to know if either parent was exposed and/or got their due.I can’t really say much because I don’t want to spoil it but I feel they both gained the beginnings of a happy life.
AHHHHHHH! It is such an amazing story! You’re not even ready for this level of awesomeness! Go! Go! What are you doing here still reading this review?! GO AND GET THE DAMN BOOK! Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
What a great book. This book is a different side of Penelope that I love. This is her take on the bully genre and it’s amazing. I loved everything about this book and left me wanting more.

Great Story
Kennedy moved with her overprotective mom to a new town, always moving and always homeschooled. On the cusp of turning eighteen, Kennedy is hoping she finally can attend public school and maybe begin a life that is her own not stalled because of her illnesses. When her neighbor peaks her interest, Kennedy takes her wheelchair and goes to introduce herself, what she doesn’t expect is the cruelty of Tristan Blackwood.
Tristan is a jerk, self professed and he doesn’t care what others think. When Kennedy becomes his newest toy to play with he reels her in only to do his best to tear her apart. Can Tristan find a reason to stop self destructing or is he doomed to fail?
I liked aspects of this one but Tristan was beyond bully, he was cruel at times. I liked Kennedy story reminded me of a mix between Bates Motel and Gossip Girl. Had a lot of potential but at times too over the top bullying wise.
Perfectly imperfect for each other! Angst, suspense, heat, and happiness
Kennedy has spent her life wrapped in a suffocatingly protective bubble by her mother. She is almost 18. It’s her senior year and she wants to experience a relatively normal teenage experience. Actually attending school vs being home schooled. Her over-protective mother isn’t easily convinced. They are running from Kennedy’s father. They are in a new home, in a new town. Their new home is right next door to a HUGE mansion. The home of the gorgeous and mysterious Tristan.
Tristan calls her Wheels.
Tristan is hiding something from everyone. He is the seemingly rich, spoiled, popular, quarterback. He’s a bully. But he is also fascinated by Wheels. Who is this beautiful but broken girl?
Kennedy gets assigned to film a video of Tristan to help him get attention of college recruiters.
They have an back and forth relationship. She discovers he isn’t quite the jerk everyone sees. He helps her explore the world.
He also wonders what is truly wrong with her. Why are her meds all unlabeled?
He tries to push her away. But she isn’t going to let him. They both find strength in each other. He discovers that he can be loved. And she discovers that love doesn’t have to smother you.
She is stronger than her mother has let her be. He isn’t the dark hopeless creature his parents make him feel like.
Full of darkness but it evolves into light. Steamy. Sweet. Angsty. And a touch of mystery. Floved!

Being disabled and in a wheelchair this book took me by surprise. I related so well to Kennedy’s struggles that this book gave me hope that I might find my own “dark hero” someday.
Also I wish I had known that this was in kindle unlimited I would have read it there instead so I’d have an official copy with all my highlights. At least I have the arc

Great book, twisted plot that made it stand out from your average NA romance but still had it’s HEA
I really enjoyed this book! Kennedy was such a great character. She was brave despite her circumstances. Tristan was a first class a** hole but he redeemed himself. An entertaining storyline with twists and turns made this a great read!

This is a heartfelt story with all the emotions to go along with it.
This is the story of Tristan & Kennedy. Tristan is a QB in highschool. Kennedy, according to her mother has illnesses and is in a wheelchair. When she tries to get up she gets really dizzy. He passes her house where she and her mother just moved to get away from her father, who is an abusive man, which her mother keeps reminding her of. Their eyes meet, and he drives away quickly. He is not a nice person. Tristan has deep rooted issues because of his parents and takes it out on everybody he comes in contact with. Things come to light slowly as they interact with one another, bad things and good things for both of them. There is no denying the attraction between them. Going through all the emotions of these things is heartfelt. It was refreshing to read about high school kids instead of the normal twenties stories. It was written well.
I really liked this story. It was really different than all the others by Penelope.
Tristan is an agry boy, who was hurt by the people who should offer him their unconditional love.
Kennedy is an isolated girl who is trapped in a wheelchair and she has to be in a house all the time. When her and her mother move away, Kennedy decides that she wants to go to school and be homeschooled anymore.
That is when thins start to get interesting. I really loved the story.
I received an arc from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I initially had trouble with this book. I couldn’t believe that someone could be that mean to a person in a wheelchair, regardless of what you think they heard. So I had some trouble liking Tristan from the beginning. Regardless of his situation, I still wasn’t that fond of him throughout most of the book. But Kennedy was a trooper and I felt so sorry for her. And with her mother being so controlling and always giving her meds that the mother made herself, I was very suspicious at first. Another fault was it just seemed like Tristan didn’t like Kennedy then he was in love. It felt like a chapter or two was missing since it was sudden. I liked the story itself but this wasn’t my favorite from this author.

This was a good read. There were parts that I liked and there were parts I did not. Tristan was a jerk most of the time but he got better as the story went along.
Story line is great and I loved the characters. I really enjoyed reading this book and I would recommend it! Unexpected twists and turns had me reading this book in one sitting. Great storyline and character development made this book a hot and enjoyable read!

It was very well written, engaging and interesting storyline.
Personally I didn’t like how Tristan treated Kennedy. Some things were lower then low.
I’m not sure how anyone could move passed some of the things he did. Hidden softie, maybe. Picking on wheelchair girl, definitely big no.
But definitely is book to read ,especially for younger
