Welcome to their kingdom. Cole Covington is the most popular heartbreaker at school.Every guy wants to be him and every girl wants to screw him.Except me. His devastatingly good looks, golden arm, and flirty smiles don’t do it for me anymore…because I know what’s lurking underneath the star quarterback’s gorgeous armor. At least I thought I did.Sometimes the most beautiful people…hide the … I did.
Sometimes the most beautiful people…hide the ugliest truths.
And sometimes the only way to save someone…
is to walk beside them through hell.
Sawyer Church is the bible-thumping nerd of Royal Hearts Academy.
Girls pick on her and guys don’t notice her.
Except me.
Sweet, curvy, and sarcastic, she’s impossible to ignore.
No matter how much I try.
Everyone at school has her pegged as the chubby, Jesus loving geek, but unlike them—Sawyer’s real and never pretends to be someone she’s not.
Until I ask her to be my fake girlfriend.
Sometimes the most beautiful souls…hide the greatest pain.
And sometimes the only way to save someone…
is to fight for them.
This is book 2 in the Royal Hearts Academy series. Please note: Although this is Cole and Sawyer’s book, Cruel Prince (Jace and Dylan’s book) should be read first for a better understanding of the family dynamic.
WARNING: Royal Hearts Academy is a New Adult/High School series of standalones filled with drama, a touch of angst, and boys who are bad to the bone. The characters are flawed. If you’re looking for a safe, sweet romance with nice heroes and heroines who are perfect all the time, this series is NOT for you.

One of my most anticipated read finally here and it was worth the wait!
Sawyer and Cole story is a must. Why you ask?
1. It give me so many feelings. I laugh. I giggle. I snort laugh. I was back in highschool for all the bad with the bullies and the good with the friends and the boys to crush on. And I cried. Lawwwd how I cried.
2. For the charachters. Cole is an a-hole. No sugar coating for this boy. He’s ruthless. He’s so beautiful it hurt and he know it and so he exploit it for his gain with the girls. He’s mean. Cold and heartless. Until you meet Colton.
And Sawyer. This bible thumper, nerd, little virgin is the bomb! She got smart mouth that most of the time put Cole in his place. Their banters is funny and sexy. Her attitude is no BS with the bullies. She’s beautiful even when her big c*nt of a mother keep giving her scar. Until her secret dream turn deathly.
4. Ashley Jade talks something bigger in this new romance she bring.
*Bullying never even welcome.
*Family is our biggest support. No matter what. It’s a must.
*Loving your self. Easy to say, but hard to do with public judgements, but please love your self so you can breath easy.
*Asking for help never a weakness. With Cole supress grieve and heavy guilt, Sawyer’s scar from repeated bruise from her love one and public shaming, my tears would be helpless. But this book telling you that. Asking for help never a weakness.
5. This book isn’t perfect. Nothing is. That’s the point. I’m giving Ruthless Knight a solid five, for this book speak to me personally. It give me the chills of how Ashley write it so down to earth. She write it close to reality. Ruthless Knight is raw in so many levels of feelings. Definitly a must read
Ruthless Knight is book two in the Royal Hearts series and although it can be read as a standalone I would implore you to read book one because they are amazing and it will give you some background to the characters.
This is the story of Cole Covington and Sawyer Church and get ready because you are not ready for all that is Cole and his Bible Thumper. I will say Cole was everything and nothing like I expected him to be. He is a contradiction, he’s the arrogant quarterback with all the expectations and perks that come with that position and he’s also the sad broken young man scarred by past events. Sawyer is the girl that so many of us could be, she has the sweetest gentlest soul with a sassy personality that came across so well but there is a hidden pain and vunerability that I indentifed with so much. There is so much to this story because both characters go through so much but no spoilers here you need to read it to find out what. I will tell you Cole and Sawyer are EVERYTHING, I had tears dripping down my face at the pain they face, I smiled at their banter and the tender moments and rejoiced at their triumphs. The storyline may go in an unexpected way however I truly believe it couldn’t have gone in any other direction. Bravo Ashley.
Wow. Ruthless Knight was everything I was hoping for and so, so much more. This story is so deep and deals with so many important things, that I just didn’t expect it to delve into, but am so glad that it did.
I absolutely loved the first book, Cruel Prince, and thought that no one could surpass how much I loved Jace. I was wrong. Cole was just, everything. You love to hate him in the beginning because, whoowee, he can be a major asshole, but the longer you go on and things are explained, you just love him.
And Sawyer, damn. This girl is one of my favorite heroines. The shit that she goes through and still manages to hold it together for so long, is amazing.
“You think love is perfect? Like one of those fairy tales?” he shakes his head. “Hell no. Love is hard…difficult. It’s dealing with someones shit day in and day out but never giving up on them because your heart won’t let you. It’s having a million reasons to leave them…but always having one good reason to stay.”
One major thing I loved about this book was how real it is. Yes, I know a lot of us read to escape reality, me included, but the situations this book deals with is a dose of reality that a lot of people will appreciate, and frankly need to see.
I won’t get into what I’m talking about because it is just something that you need to read the book to understand, and believe me, you won’t regret it.
This isn’t just your typical high school mean boy good girl romance, though there is a good bit of that mixed in, no Ruthless Knight is so much more than that.
This book will captivate you from the beginning and not let go until the very end. It’s one of those books that will stick with you for a long time to come.
Other than my love for these characters I loved the story itself, I definitely didn’t see a lot of what happened coming, but my gosh was it all worth it. Talk about emotions! I was drowning in them while reading this, lol.
“Sometimes, when you least expect it…two beautifully broken souls end up finding each other.”
And I am not kidding about this book captivating you. I literally started it late evening-ish and stayed up ALL through the night until about 8am reading until I had finished the whole damn book. I couldn’t put this book down for the life of me. And that’s saying a lot for me. My attention span is usually really bad while reading long books, but not once did I want to put this book down or want it to end sooner.
This story, the characters, the depth and emotion, all of it will have you glued to the pages until the very end.
Ashley Jade did a fantastic job with Cole and Sawyers story. If you enjoyed Cruel Prince, pick up Ruthless Knight, you wont regret it.
*Received and ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. All Thoughts and opinions are my own.*
I just finished this 100 chapter book full of everything you can imagine. Love, hurt, betrayal, angst, ….
I really liked the book, the way Cole and Sawyer found their way together. It’s different. I don’t know if I could have done it, being in Sawyer’s shoes, but that’s not the point.
I’m excited to see how Bianca’s story is going to be!
4,5
I have to say that this book is absolutely spectacular! I was so engrossed that time seemed to stop. Who needs sleep? I had to know what would happen to Cole and Sawyer. It was worth it! I loved that they were not perfect. They had flaws, insecurities, demons and more. You never know what someone is going through in their life. They only let you see what they want you to see. Cole is a master at this. It is what makes them so complex and compelling. You get to see and feel the emotions just as they do as their story unfolds. The emotions tear at your heart strings. It is not a sweet story. It is one that will invoke a lot of raw emotions. It is so well written that I felt like I was there with them experiencing all their emotions and feelings. This book is a definite must read!! Go ahead and get a pillow, Kleenex and a cold drink. You will need it. If I could I would give it more than 5 stars. It is my new favorite!
Ashley Jade did a great job on this story, Ruthless Knight was a great story. The plot was strong, it was filled with many emotions, the characters were strong. The story was written well. Cole and Sawyer’s journey was an easy, they went through a lot, both were strong willed. Their relationship was a rollercoaster, an emotional one but no matter what happened, they were drawn to each other. The connection, their chemistry was strong. They were good together.
This was a great story, I enjoyed it. I’d suggest reading.
Thank you, Ashley Jade. Great work 🙂
Oh my damn this book. 100 chapters 139k words and still I’m over here going can I please have more? This book will consume you and make you feel ALL the emotions. You will laugh, cry, cheer, swoon, fan yourself, contemplate how to k*ll off a fictional character that isn’t one of your own creation. If you are looking for an emotional rollercoaster you have found it with Ruthless Knight.
Cole and Sawyer are…just…gah!
Ms. Jade put my emotions in blender with this one but it gets all the stars from me. Now bring on Bianca’s book because I NEEDS it!
It is supposed to be tough to come up with a great follow up book to an incredible first in a series, but Ashley Jade has done so in spades with Ruthless Knight. Cole and Sawyer leap off the page with all their issues and insecurities, their big hearts and fighting spirits. I live them so much.
Again, this book is filled with great character development, is densely plotted, witty, clever banter and incidents and revelations that shred your heart! There is so much to say about this book and so much that we can relate to in terms of our own insecurities about ourselves, that Ashley has written a book which has so much heart that it will take a long time to stop thinking about it. Absolutely brilliant!
I’m sitting here having just finished reading and I’m struggling with not only my words but my emotions. This book is everything and more. It completely destroyed me in every way. Every single experience Sawyer and Cole had I was gasping for breath at how real it all felt. I was lost in their story. The feelings and emotions I felt while reading brought me right back to some of my own experiences. I was just like Sawyer growing up and every single word and feeling that the author poured into her story couldn’t have been more accurate. This book showed what so many women struggle with every single day and how society’s expectations push them to extreme just to be excepted. Thank you Ashley for writing this you have once again found the words all the Sawyers in the world don’t have. I give this book 1000 stars.
I’m so torn. Giving this book three stars feels like a crime, but rating it four stars means it’s on the same level as book one. And I’m not sure it is… So tentatively I’m giving this four stars, but I didn’t like it quite as much as book 1.
Cole is focused on one thing: playing football. It’s his love and soul, and what he’s been focusing on his whole life. Sawyer is kind, religious, and a total sweet heart. She tries to keep her head up, but being constantly belittled and bullied is getting to her.
These characters were amazing. They are both so full of pain and a little bit broken. But the author made sure to build them back up and make them even stronger. Cole had been through a lot in his eighteen years. He’s lost so much of his family, and he was filled with such anger and bitterness. Sawyer was too nice for her own good, way too forgiving, and with such a big heart.
They shouldn’t make sense together, but somehow they do.
The romance?
The romance was *chef’s kiss* The banter. The sexual chemistry. Ooof.
It was all here.
What I’m torn on? How Sawyer’s issues with her weight were dealt with.
I understand what it’s like to want to be skinnier. Telling yourself that you love yourself as you are, and as long as you’re happy with yourself, fuck everyone else. But also secretly wishing you looked more like your friends, even though you know you shouldn’t.
I understand the pressure to want to look like everyone else and it can be suffocating. Especially when you’re surrounded by people who make you feel inferior.
I had no problem with Sawyer feeling that way, and I had no problem with how she chose to dealt with, because like I said, I’ve felt that. And I know that with all this pressure, it can be easy to succumb to it.
However everyone using fat like it’s a dirty word grated on me. It’s an adjective, just like so many others. So while I understood the journey Sawyer went through, I wasn’t thrilled at how it ended.
That being said, I do wish that authors would write books where they’re fat characters don’t hate themselves. And while Sawyer does eventually get there, she does spend most of the book doing just that.
Wow! I don’t even know where to start. This book is amazing! When was the last time you opened a book and you legit couldn’t stop reading? We’re talking about ignoring all of your adult responsibilities because you HAVE to keep reading, accepting that you’ll be sleep deprived because you will now only get 3 hours of sleep before you have to wake up, THIS is that book. It’s a long book, 100 chapters. Each and every one of them were amazing. Yeah, I’m gushing. I can’t help it.
Angst for DAYS, Cole and Sawyer’s story isn’t sunshine and rainbows, not even close. It’s rough and ugly and hard and hurtful. It will make you angry, for them and at them. The raw emotion will crack you open and wreck your soul. Then we finally get a peek inside the broken knight, and the pieces of the puzzle finally start to click. And when you think you’ve had enough and things can’t get any worse, the other shoe falls.
This story tore me up, put jagged pieces together and smashed them all to bits. The characters are real and relatable and so well written, each and every one of them. Not only does the author give us exactly what we need for Cole and Sawyer, Jace and Dylan, and Oakley, she sets starts building the anticipation for Bianca’s turn. Is it August yet??
I Laughed, I cried and I forgot how to breath.
5* is not even close to what this book deserves
I think it’s the best book I’ve ever read, words can not describe how phenomenal it truely is.
Cole completely stole my heart, in the most amazing way, Sawyer I loved from the very beginning, I can relate to her on so many levels.
AMAZING!!
RUTHLESS KNIGHT by Ashley Jade is book Two in the Royal Hearts Academy Series. This is the story of Sawyer Church and Cole Covington. I have read the previous book but feel this is a standalone book if you wish to do so. Cole is the popular quarterback of the school where everyone thinks he is king and of course Cole keeps that thought going. But he has his secrets that hide his true self which only Sawyer seems to see that part of him. The same with Sawyer but she is on the low pole at school where they either don’t see her or she is made fun of. But Cole does see more but of course to keep his image he can’t fully acknowledge more at first. This book takes you through a lot of emotions, especially toward Cole. Sometimes you just can’t like him and then another time you feel for him.
This does have its dark moments so this might not be the book for everyone. It was a cringe page turner for me.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
Cole Covington is the most popular heartbreaker at school. Every guy wants to be him and every girl wants to get with him. Except me. Though at the beginning of this description it says that these are standalone books and that they can be read as such. However it is recommended that you read the first book first to better understand the family dynamic. If your looking for the sweet guys then I can promise you that you are not going to find them in these books. I am going to go ahead and warn you to have a box of Kleenex too. About halfway through this book your going to be going through them like crazy. A tear tearjerker for sure. There are so many emotional subjects in this book too and it gets kind of hard to read. It is a good book but be prepared because it is long. Really long. But good and you are really going to like it.
Where do I begin? I had to think long and hard about how I wanted to do my review. Ashley seriously has a talent to suck you in a book and you want to do nothing but live, breath, and read that book just to find out what’s going to happen next!
Cole is the King of RHA and can have any girl he wants so when he sets his site on Sawyer she knows that something is up after some convincing she agrees to help him out but quickly the lines blur and Sawyer starts falling for him even though he’s the bad boy and she knows that he will break her heart but she can’t help herself after all she knows there is the good Cole in there somewhere it’s just a matter of if she can reach him before he becomes the Ruthless Knight.
Cole has always found Sawyer intriguing but alyways hid it from everyone. Till one day he decides he wants her and when Cole wants something he will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Things are revealed and things are learned but most of all can Cole and Swayer be a real couple or will Cole destroy his chance because he doesn’t want to be seen with a fat girl and unpopular.
I loved this book and was so engrossed in it I couldn’t put it down! I can’t wait for Bianca’s book!
Heart-wrenching drama, romance, friendship, fat-shaming and football; what could be better than that? Well Ruthless Knight by A. Jade is better than that because it involves all the above and is told in a jaw dropping story. This is the much anticipated second book in the Royal Hearts Academy series and telling you it was worth the wait is an understatement. I couldn’t put this book down and was impressed with Jade’s writing style and story telling abilities. There were times in the book I thought my heart was going to beat out of my chest because the book pulled me in and made me feel like I was there witnessing the drama unfold. Book three Wicked Princess tells the story of Cole and Jace’s younger sister Bianca, and if she’s anything like she has been in the first two books then it’s bound to be a doozy. 5-jeweled stars for Ruthless Knight by A, Jade
Sawyer Church is the fat, nerdy, girl that everyone makes fun of. From having her clothes stolen in P.E. class to students calling her fat to her face, Sawyer keeps her head held high. Sawyer has had a crush on the school’s QB, Cole Covington, since she first laid eyes on him, but she knows he’s out of her league. People and situations push Cole and Sawyer into the same circle, and they find themselves spending more and more time together. Cole needs Sawyer’s help but with how mean he’s been in the past she doesn’t know if she can trust Cole not to hurt her again. When Cole wants something, he is determined to get it no matter how ruthless he needs to be.
Have you ever read a book, a character, that just completely throws you off? Completely has you hating him and loving him in a space of a few seconds? Completely has you wanting to just take him home and give him the loving he so desperately wants and needs (and no, I mean that in a motherly way…well…never mind lol)? Cole Covington is that boy…that man…who just needed someone to show him he was loved, that he was wanted, that he was worth something…worth the effort. But, anyone looking from the outside just sees a hot, popular guy who can get any woman he wants but is as cruel, as big a bully as any character I have ever read. But as much as you want to hate him, from the blurb, from the word of mouth, you NEED to read his story. Find out for yourself where all his pain comes from. And then we have Sawyer who is just an amazingly complex character. She has heart and she sees so much more than she could ever explain, about most of the people in her life. What she needs to find is her backbone and let me just say, watching her find that for herself was the best part of this entire journey for me. And I’d be lax in saying, Chapter 39…yeah the book has steam, but this chapter? Oyyyy lady…out of the ballpark story for me Ashley Jade.

Is it possible to give a book more than 5 stars because Ruthless Knight deserves them all!
Wow! Just wow! I’m not quite sure how to put into words my feelings after reading Cole & Sawyer’s story because I’m absolutely ruined! RUTHLESS KNIGHT slayed me and I’m not sure if I’ll ever really recover. This book blew my expectations away, the story that Ashley gave us is without a doubt her best work ever!
This book WILL and I repeat WILL put your emotions through the ringer. And trust me when I saw you’re not in no way prepared for this story but you most definitely need to read it!
Ruthless Knight was one of my anticipated reads for this year and it certainly didn’t disappoint!
***5 “Hard to love!!!” STARS***
“Sometimes, when you least expect it… two beautifully broken souls end up finding each other.
Even when the world says the’re not supposed to… because they don’t fit inside the same box.”
Be ready for the Lucky Seven and Bible Thumper to blow your minds!!!
Honestly, i was thinking… Is it possible for Sawyer and Cole to top Jace and Dylan???
And even though i loved “Cruel Prince” very much, Ashley Jade managed to deliver us an even more beautiful story than the previous one!!!
Yep, it was a very long book, but surprisingly i devoured it in just one day… A full day for me with work and a child… But it was so good, that i couldn’t put it down!!!
“How come lies are so beautiful and the truth is always so fucking ugly?”
“Lies are easier to believe because they usually protect someone or conceal something bad… Or maybe it’s because there is no truth… definitely anyway. We all have our own truth… and whatever version aligns best with that is what we grativate toward and believe… even if it’s a lie. I guess in the end it comes down to selfishness.”
Ashley, in here, took many things into consideration and she threw at us many critical issues that many people out there are facing and i loved the way that she was handling all the sensitive matters and there were many of them…
I also love how she has build all this beautiful characters in here and i can not wait for Bianca’s turn… Hopefully, with Oakley!!! Right, Ashley????
But let me stick to this book for now…
“They all worship me because they think I’m better than them.
But I’m not. I’m just better at being fake.”
“I just want you to leave me alone.”
“Hurts when you can’t have something you want, doesn’t it?…
Remember how much you hate me right now… Because the second you think I’m capable of changing, or there’s any good in me, I’ll prove you wrong and hurt you again… worse than before.”
We had already taken a glimpse of Cole and Sawyer in the previous book… Their bantering were always so entertaining and i was dying to get their book…
And i took so much more with this story…
This story was about a very popular and ruthless, athletic boy who deep down inside he had his own demons to face and about a girl that the mase was calling her an ugly, fat, Jesus loving freak, but who was facing her own issues!!!
In an unexpected way those two became a possibility, but they had to many obstacles to overcome and most of them, they had to face their own demons!!!
“I have a crush on Cole Covington… and I hate myself for it.
He’s everything I despise in a person.
He’s cocky, ruthless, a womanizer, and worst of all -he mocks my faith.
Yet… there’s something about him I can’t ignore.”
“Don’t waste your time trying to fix me. You’ll only cut yourself on my fucked-up pieces…
And when that happens… I’ll watch you bleed out with a smile on my face.”
Well, honestly, i don’t know what i can really say about this book… So many things had happened in here and i don’t know how to express my feelings..
In short words, Cole got out his bad self to play and he hurt really badly Sawyer…
From that moment, they kept some distance, but then… Cole asked her to become his fake girlfriend and from that moment the things escalated very quickly…
Nope, i won’t say more…
I will say that this couple was the best and they had a unique way to be there for each other…
“She’s so goddamn beautiful.
So pure and innocent and good.
The saint a sinner like me never deserved.”
“I don’t care what he says.
I just need him to let me in.
Because all the pain he keeps bottled up inside is slowly killing him piece by fucked up piece.
And I refuse to let that happen.
Because no matter how ruthless and damaged he is… a world without Colton isn’t a world I want to live in.”
I love Cole so much, even though i wasn’t so sure for that in the previous book… Yes, it was an easygoing guy with humor and ruthless attitude, but under the surface he was beyond all these superficial craps… He was caring and he was protecting the people around him… Including Sawyer, even when he was treating her poorly…
Also, i loved him for his obsession with Sawyer’s curves!!!
And in here, i could understand better his relationship with Liam… and my heart was breaking for that lost boy inside of him that was craving attention and love!!!
Cole was needing a person to love him completely and unconditional… A person that will hold him his hand no matter the bumps on the road…. And that person was Sawyer!!!
“I hurt… so I hurt others.
Especially the people I care about most.”
“Sawyer has a way of getting under my skin and inside my head like no one else… which makes her a hazard.”
“There’s a piece of missing now too.
A piece I’ll never be able to fix or repair.
A piece I’ll never get back…
And it’s all my fault.”
God, I love this girl!!! I loved her from the first moment that she had given that shirt to Dylan…
I love her sassy attitude toward Cole and i love how big heart she was having… How much love she could give to anyone… How real she was all the time!!!
But Sawyer had her own insecurities… Insecurities that she was keeping hidden very good, but which at some point gave her big problems…
Cole, except Nick Jonas, was her achilles heel!!! No matter what he would throw her way, she couldn’t abandon him…
Sawyer was needing a guy that he would have the willing to fight for her and that person was Cole, even though it took him a while to realize it!!!
“God, I am so tired of being the fat girl.
So tired of feeling like I don’t belong.
So tired of people only seeing one thing when they look at me.”
“Cole Covington has always fascinated me…
No matter how many times he proves me wrong, I can’t help but think his true colors aren’t as one-dimensional or superficial as he wants everyone to believe.”
I loved this couple so much and i would love to tell you more about them, but i really can’t.
I just want to say that I still love Jace and Dylan and their story, but two persons in here, except the main characters, had stolen the spotlight!!!
God, i had loved Oakley from the first moment and i want his story desperately!!!! He had stolen a big part of my heart and i don’t think that he will ever give it back…
Also, even though that Bianca was always a bitch toward Dylan, in here i saw her in a different light and to Sawyer … she was the best!!!
These two made me laugh so much and yes, i laughed so much in this book and then, i cried the same… But i need it after all!!!
Please, Ashley!!! Give me some Oakley and Bianca vibes!!!! These two together will be a quite interesting mix!!!!
oh!!! And something more… Please read this series!!! It will worth your time!!!
“You think love is perfect? Like one of those fairytales?… Hell, no. Love is hard… difficult. It’s dealing with someone’s shit day in and day out but never giving up on them because your heart won’t let you. It’s having a million reasons to leave them… but always one goodreason to stay.”
***I received an ARC of this book!!! Thank you!!!***
