Welcome to their kingdom. Cole Covington is the most popular heartbreaker at school.Every guy wants to be him and every girl wants to screw him.Except me. His devastatingly good looks, golden arm, and flirty smiles don’t do it for me anymore…because I know what’s lurking underneath the star quarterback’s gorgeous armor. At least I thought I did.Sometimes the most beautiful people…hide the … I did.
Sometimes the most beautiful people…hide the ugliest truths.
And sometimes the only way to save someone…
is to walk beside them through hell.
Sawyer Church is the bible-thumping nerd of Royal Hearts Academy.
Girls pick on her and guys don’t notice her.
Except me.
Sweet, curvy, and sarcastic, she’s impossible to ignore.
No matter how much I try.
Everyone at school has her pegged as the chubby, Jesus loving geek, but unlike them—Sawyer’s real and never pretends to be someone she’s not.
Until I ask her to be my fake girlfriend.
Sometimes the most beautiful souls…hide the greatest pain.
And sometimes the only way to save someone…
is to fight for them.
This is book 2 in the Royal Hearts Academy series. Please note: Although this is Cole and Sawyer’s book, Cruel Prince (Jace and Dylan’s book) should be read first for a better understanding of the family dynamic.
WARNING: Royal Hearts Academy is a New Adult/High School series of standalones filled with drama, a touch of angst, and boys who are bad to the bone. The characters are flawed. If you’re looking for a safe, sweet romance with nice heroes and heroines who are perfect all the time, this series is NOT for you.

Have you read Cruel Prince? Well if you haven’t stop and go read it. You need to. You will know if you’ve read Cruel Prince that this author is in a league of her own. As soon as this hit my kindle I couldn’t wait to jump in as it’s an epic read.
Cole and Sawyer…wow talk about some great characters. Two broken characters that my heart broke for.
If your looking for a rehash of the storyline your not gonna get it from me..go read it for yourself, you won’t regret it.
Fabulous length of a story, nice and long, I inhaled this and stayed up until the wee hours. Had to finish it. Definitely worth the lost sleep. Chocolate and tissues was needed.
Expect the unexpected with this author. Read these epic books. Can’t recommend them highly enough.
Ahh- mazz- ing…..(Amazing)
Super adorable, super emotional, super lovable. This story is one big awesome read. I love all the main characters, the storyline is good, it tells you the life of teenagers and what they go through. I love how Cole and Sawyer are enemies, but by the end of the book, they are so much more than lovers. Ashley is a superstar when it comes to her writing and I’m very glad I have the opportunity to read her books. I can’t wait for book 3 in this Royal Hearts Series.

: Ruthless Knight (Royal Hearts Academy, #2) by Ashley Jade is book two in the Royal Hearts Academy series. Although it can be read as a standalone, Royal Hearts Academy: Cruel Prince should be read first in order to gain a better grasp and understanding of the Covington family dynamic. With that being said, if you read and liked Cruel Prince, then Ruthless Knight is about to blow your freaking mind!! I enjoyed Cruel Prince… but I absolutely LOVED Ruthless Knight and would give it sooo many more stars if I could!!! They say opposites attract and the saying couldn’t be truer for Cole Covington and Sawyer Church. But when a fake dating scheme turns into real feelings, both Cole and Sawyer’s world is turned upside down.
’ . ’ – .”…“ ℎ ℎ ℎ …’ ℎ ℎ .
I have always loved Ashley Jade’s work but Ruthless Knight… this is honestly the best yet! Ruthless Knight took me back in time, back to when I was 16-18 years old and dealing with some of the exact same issues. Love, heartache, self-worth, self-image, Ruthless Knight deals with REAL everyday issues that young teens face. I LOVED it. I am just completely floored. I CRIED, you guys! And I’m not talking about getting teary-eyed, I CRIED!!! I surely was NOT expecting that! The characters, the secondary characters, the angst… it all added up to one fabulous read. There were just so many moments that made me love this book but my very favorite “moment” was with Jace and Cole. If you have read the book or decide to read the book, you WILL know exactly which one I’m talking about. OH.MY.GOD! Full-on ugly crying y’all. I was already partway there but when Jace walked in… seriously sobbed like a baby!
ℎ ℎ . ’ .
I can’t not mention my boy, Oakley. Ruthless Knight has made me even more curious about him than I already was. Even though I wanted to be mad at him for giving it to her in the first place… he saw the signs and he did TRY… unfortunately, it was just a little too late but at least he tried to make things right. I want Bianca’s book… but I am absolutely DYING for Oaks!
Bianca, I feel like we know her character a little more now. I absolutely despised the girl in Cruel Prince… but now, I feel like maybe she’s just looking for her self-worth in all the wrong places. That girl has a story to tell and I can’t wait to hear it in Wicked Princess. If you enjoy new adult romances with tons of angst, then Ruthless Knight is the read for you!
ℎ… ℎ ℎ. ℎ .
() : Colton ‘Cole’ Freakin Covington. I liked Jace, but Cole… Cole is in a class all of his own! At first, just like most, I thought he was a total tool! So cruel, so mean, so self-centered. Now we know better. There are so many layers to Cole. One layer is what he wants people to see, the golden boy quarterback. Another is the layer his family sees, the spoiled brat, trouble maker. And then there’s the third layer, the best layer of them all… the one that he lets Sawyer see. The real Colton. The him that he wants to be. Cole’s confession… oh. my. god. I wasn’t expecting nor was I prepared for that. My heart didn’t just shatter, it completely freaking disintegrated for him. Cole has been carrying the weight of his shame for so long, he’s NEVER felt good enough, and that… that was just the icing on Cole’s self-hate cake. But BOTH times, when he stood up to Sawyer’s parents, I was rooting for him soooo freaking hard!
’ ℎ ℎ… ℎ .
() : Sawyer ‘Bible Thumper’ Church. Sawyer has such a huge heart, she is an amazing girl, even though she doesn’t realize it. She’s an amazing friend, and she’s loyal to a fault. When no one, not even his own siblings, saw the good in Cole, Sawyer did. She never gave up on him, even though there were times where she probably should have. She saw something inside of him and she was determined to dig deeper. I adored Sawyer and related to her soo much at the beginning of Ruthless Knight. But somewhere along the way she lost herself and became what seemed to be a totally different character then what we started out with. I understand the reasons why though and I think things went exactly as they needed to, to show exactly how far down the self-loathing rabbit hole that Sawyer had fallen and we were able to see her battle her demons. (P.S- I really want to throat punch BOTH of Sawyer’s parents, but especially her Mom…)
. . ℎ ℎ , ’ , … ℎ ℎ .
: The chemistry between these two is palpable. Although there are many, many differences between Cole and Sawyer, the two are so much more alike than even they are aware. Both just deal with their self-loathing differently. But when they come together, let’s just say Cole opens his bible thumper up to a whole nother world! Plus, Cole Covington has got a dirty mouth on him and I loved every single minute of it!
… .
: Nope, Sawyer and Cole’s story wraps up beautifully, but only after a whole lot of heartbreak. Up next is Bianca’s story, Wicked Princess!
: There are difficult subjects that could be considered triggers. If you would like to know more about what those are, feel free to DM me!

Raw, emotional, hot, and funny. Cole has to be one of my most favorite people. He loves so hard and doesn’t even realize how amazing he is. Swayer will steal your hearts with her sassy ways and steal your tears with her self hate. In other words, this was an emotional rollercoaster that is most definitely worth the ride.
Ruthless Knight is an emotionally charged and highly entertaining story that absolutely slayed me with it’s engaging storyline and beautifully flawed, honest characters. It has to be said, Ashley Jade has such a phenomenal writing style that I was grabbed right from the very first page and was fully immersed in the story and invested in these characters until the very end.
While this book is very long, it was very fast-paced and I could not put it down! Ruthless Knight is a beautifully written book that incorporates some important hot topics and packs an almighty emotional punch. Cole and Sawyer’s journey is heart wrenchingly beautiful. I can’t wait to see what else Ashley Jade has in store for us in this series.
Absolute Train-tastic epic drama! The Covington boys really put you to the test. It took me few days to digest the whole hellion of dramas. Ashley, you had manage to pin the story with honest truth. Cole Covington, honest to God. Why did you made yourself so difficult to love? You have built yourself an IceKingdom so hard… You cant hardly breath. Miss Sawyer, I love you and want to slap some sense into your self struggling..
Ruthless Knight was the image dramas of struggling souls. Love was so difficult between the characters. I have felt the hidden feelings that everyone at some point feel the same way.. maybe like Cole, or Sawyer.. maybe Liam.. or anyone.
I was struggling to get through the book because I can understand how it was to me. The author didnt sugar coat the high and low behind the perfect image and self struggling. This story was mine. It had reach into my emotions and I am crying from the deepest of my heart.
Was it an easy story? NO..It never was. Ashley had never let me down. She had a piece of my heart.
I LOVED Cruel Prince and I enjoyed many other books by this author. This was my most anticipated book for January, it however was a miss for me on many, many levels.
The basics of my issues are these:
Both Sawyer and Cole were very immature, hurtful, self deprecating and just unenjoyable. They seemed like completely different characters from book one. There was only about 15% of this book where I even liked one or the other. Self loathing is beyond ridiculous. Its all these two characters do. Also there sonly so much forgiveness I can handle characters doling out in abusive relationships before checking out and this book felt like a very long very abusive book between ALL the characters. Not one healthy relationship among them.
The angst with Cole was copy and pasted from book one, and less affective then before. Cole was mean and hurtful and he never redeemed himself in my eyes. The angst with Sawyer felt forced and complete unnecessary. It didn’t fit her personality and made a certain characters disposable.
On the positive side (ending with a positive here) there were some cute parts, a few laughs and some very hot scenes. There was no doubt about the chemistry between these two, it was beyond hot. I did enjoy the few humorous moments because they broke up the heaviness.
Loved this book to pieces!! Two polar opposite soles, each with their own personal baggage, try to find their way together. Cole, superstar quarterback who’s extremely popular finds himself in a bet with a pretty “nerdy” girl Sawyer who’s always been bullied because of her excess weight. This is a very emotional story telling of all their joys and hurts. I couldn’t decide if I loved Cole or wanted to wring his neck, such a piece of work! I loved the way Ashley Jade creates characters that are so true to life and relatable. Well done!!
Ashley Jade has done it again. She creates stories that draw you in from the first paragraph and leave you gasping, begging for more. While this is a stand alone story, you really should read Cruel Prince, as many of the characters and some of the story line relates to this book. Seriously, it will only enhance your appreciation of Ms. Jade’s masterfully crafted tale. This story revolves around Cole, a god of teens, aka the QB at the high school and Sawyer, a studious, spiritually tied in girl who knows what she wants and doesn’t want out of life. A series of events, and friends pull them into one another’s orbit in this tale full of twists and turns. I cannot say more without ruining this story. Just know, once you start this book, you will not want to put it down. I laughed, cried, yelled, threatened and swooned during this story. Ashley writes with so much detail that I feel as if I know these characters personally and am waiting to catch up with them again in the future. Even her side characters have surprisingly detailed descriptions. This Ruthless Knight has won my heart and Ms. Jade has won my devotion as a one click devotee. Well done.

I have never gave 10 to a book but to this one I would even give it 100

It’s been shorter then 24 hours since I finished RK and I don’t even know how I feel anymore or what to write in this review. This book is very close to my heart and will be in my heart.
I have always wanted to read a book where the girl is and Yes you read that right. I said and it isn’t a bad word, I am doesn’t mean I am a disease or less then anyone else. We are normal human being with feelings.
I relate to Sawyer in a lot of ways, I may have never be insecure or got bullied because I know what I am but my family has been on my nerve for years. To keep it short let’s say Sawyer and her mother are my mother and me. They only think about being “Healthy” but not what your happiness is and no I’m not saying we can just eat and don’t care about our health but let us deal with it ourself.
We know how we look like and we know what healthy is for us but let us for a second.
Sawyer is more then a character she is a woman everyone can find something of themself in it. she isn’t a regular normal girl, she is strong and amazing but damaged at the same time… I love how she went from someone who didn’t loved herself to loving herself the most. Know you worth girls and boys, no matter which shape, color, religion you are, You matter.
If I could make every person read this book I would have done that. If you want to understand someone else perspective, how hard being insecure is, how even the smallest comment can hurt someone, how being healthy and being happy are two different things. This is your book and you don’t want to waste a second, buy the book and read it!
And about Cole “Colton” there isn’t much to say about him, if you want to understand him you need to read . The guy is a heartbroken person who just lost too many people and lost himself in the meantime. The chemistry between him and Sawyer is unreal and him knowing sawyers worth before she knew it herself. I was speechless.. and I wish for every insecure person to have a Colton by their side
Colton and Sawyer aren’t mine 2020 book couple they are my ..
I just want to say preach to Ashley Jade because she nailed this in every single way!

I hereby declare the fictional character of Sawyer my bestest of friends because she slays. Anybody who wants to fight me on this book will get this: (Insert GIF of Lana Del Rey aiming her alien gun to a helicopter)
“’Cause you’re my religion, you’re how I’m living
When all my friends say I should take some space
Well, I can’t envision that for a minute
When I’m down on my knees, you’re how I pray.”
Religion – Lana Del Rey
What’s this book about? (I’m trying to give as little spoilers as possible)
Sawyer is an intelligent girl. She doesn’t want to fall for her high school’s quarterback especially since it is so hard to get into this guy’s head. What’s going on in there? Is he a fake empty shell or is there something deeper going on there? Cole appears to be perfect. Gorgeous, popular, rich… Not all that glitters is gold. What starts as a fake relationship develops into something indescribable.
Elvis is my daddy. Marilyn’s my mother. SAWYER IS MY NEW BESTEST FRIEND. One of the most solid lead girls I’ve ever read. She’s my favorite lead girl in any book so far of 2020. I hate that we have to categorize this novel as a curvy girl romance. I wish we lived in a world where this wasn’t necessary, but of course this isn’t Ashley Jade’s fault, so let me get straight up to the praise.
What the author did in this novel BLEW ME AWAY. I spent 80% of the book laughing my butt off.
I liked book one, especially towards the end. RUTHLESS KNIGHT, HOWEVER, GRIPPED MY UTTERMOST ATTENTION AND EARNED MY MOST PRECIOUS AFFECTION FROM PAGE ONE. This story could’ve taken so many wrong turns. There were so many clichés to fall into and THE AUTHOR DIDN’T LET IT HAPPEN. The sexual scenes weren’t as saucy as in book one, but, HONESTLY, I didn’t really care. I LIVED FOR THE CHEMISTRY BETWEEN SAWYER AND COLE. A page-turning emotional ride in a Ferrari. By the way, I think Liam should get his own novel from heaven. This boy… My heart was broken all over again. He wasn’t as substantial to the relationship of Sawyer and Cole because in this novel we focus on the actual problems of both the lead characters. And what problems, eh? I am speechless at how some messages were portrayed in this novel, speechless and grateful that this sort of novel gets to exist. I felt for Sawyer in every way. I could empathize EXACTLY with how she felt (I WANTED TO JUMP INTO THE BOOK AND TELL HER: Baby girl, you are beautiful. NO, don’t do it.) and I could imagine her parents so clearly. This is real. It doesn’t get any realer. Well, except Cole. We all wish he had a Cole to go to our inner Sawyer, right? He’s rare. But there are a bunch of Sawyers out there in the world and they need support systems around them. DAMN, I’M SWERVING FROM MY ACTUAL REVIEW.
Oakley once again proved that he’s not what he seems to be. He has a crucial role in this novel. He’s likeable because even though he’s dazed and confused and messes stuff up, he is a sweetheart. I can’t decide on Bianca. She’s a beasty version of Daria Followhill with sharper claws, so sharp you cut yourself by touching her. I can’t wait for her book which is the next one in the series!
I don’t know if I mentioned everything I felt during my experience with this book. Age matters; perspectives and people change with it. The kids in this novel are truly in need of better parenting figures since their parents are problematic AF. I loved that Sawyer’s beliefs weren’t overplayed. There was a comfortable balance between naughty and nice in the duration of the novel. I can’t believe this girl’s heart. I really can’t. I could gush over this for another 700 words, but I have to find an ending. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK.
I have been anxiously waiting for Cole and Sawyer’s story since Cruel Prince and Ms. Jade did not disappoint! I loved every emotionally charged page!
“The saint a sinner like me never deserved”
Cole Covington will have you hating him with how cruel he can come off but underneath it all is a boy who is hurting who needs someone to smooth his sharp broken pieces. Sawyer Church makes him feel things, feel too much. She is a good person with a kind heart who doesn’t deserve anyone’s cruelty. Her strength amazes me with everything she goes through.
Their connection is so strong but with so many highs and lows in their relationship, can they make it the long haul? There are so many emotional topics covered in Ruthless Knight that it will leave you emotionally drained but happy at the end.
“How come lies are so beautiful and the truth is always so fucking ugly?”
This is the second book in the ‘Royal Hearts Academy’ series and although Jace’ story was good, Cole was exceptional. I was not prepared for all the emotions this book threw at me. It can be read as a standalone, but I’d definitely read book one first as there is crossover.
We start with Cole. He’s lonely and sad and losing himself in alcohol to numb the pain he is fighting and I felt every bit of his pain. He’s holding onto a deep secret that is slowly destroying him, there were a good few times I wanted to wrap him in my arms but there were other times I wanted to punch his face for the unapologetic alpha male that he was.
Sawyer, she’s always had feelings for Cole and one night they share a moment that means so much to her as she starts to see the real Cole. The next day at school he humiliates her and vows to stay out his way.
Cole has always had feelings for Sawyer. He knows that’s she’s good, innocent and wholesome and doesn’t want to hurt her with who the real Cole is, so keeps her at bay.
Cole, the ladies man that he is, takes a bet to prove he’s all ‘man’, that bet being to take Sawyers virginity. What he doesn’t know is that Sawyer overhears this bet so things aren’t going to be as easy for him as he thinks. Although they end up in a ‘fake’ relationship, there is nothing fake about both of their feelings.
This book has so many deep issues, grief, drug abuse, bullying but also love, that must hold strong for Cole and Sawyer to survive.
This book has it all, happy, sad and deep meaningful moments that you could tell Jade wrote from the heart. Cole is mega swoon-worthy and will sweep you right of your feet. It’s slow-burn, full of angst but it captured my heart in so many ways and was one of those books I didn’t want to end.
Bianca is next and I can’t wait to see what’s in store this sassy minx!
ARC received for an honest review – thank you

Ruthless Knight is book 2 in the Royal Hearts Academy series. I loved book 1, Cruel Prince, and could not wait for this one. It was so worth it! This book was so emotional, angsty, amazing and beautiful. Cole and Sawyer will get into your heart and stay there long after you finish reading it. Ashley Jade’s writing and characters are just so meaningful and will get into your soul.
Cole Covington is a football star, popular and dates the head cheerleader. His family has money. Sawyer is overweight, nerdy and religious. These two are opposites in every way, except the most important, their hearts! What starts out as a bet turns into so much more. Cole is in so much pain and Sawyer finds a way to help him start to heal. Sawyer has no belief in herself and has been humiliated in front of her peers. What develops between the two was really breathtaking. Their connection was so amazing. I cannot say enough about this series. I just loved it!
Besides the bad boy, good girl story there are important other topics woven into the story. Ashley put her heart and soul into this book, and it shows. You will feel so many emotions reading this story from happiness to sadness to gut wrenching I don’t want her to go there moments! This is a series not to be missed!
A. Jade did it again the 1st book was amazing, now this one is even better with Cole and Beautiful Sawyer lead the way, I fell in love with these two, when the author said its came from the heart you could feel it. I couldn’t put the book down. You dont want to miss this epic love story.
“Sometimes, when you least expect it…two beautifully broken souls end up finding each other.”
An amazing emotional read that will pull on your heartstrings and keep you flipping the pages. Love Cole and Sawyer. Their story was written with all the ugly truths of the world and that is why this book is an epic read.
Ruthless Knight (Royal Hearts Academy #2) by Ashley Jade
5 AMZING STARS
5 AMAZING STARS is a low grade for this AMAZING MASTERPIECE.
This book has definitely hit my all-time favorite top and one of my most anticipated releases of 2020. I finished it a few days ago, and I still keep thinking about it. I want to re-read.
When Ashley Jade said that this book would be a long one, I honestly thought that I will get bored, but please trust me when I say, I was not even close. This book make me re-judge my grades for the others books because this deserves all the stars in the universe.
Ruthless Knight is the second book in the Royal Hearts Academy series, and although she can be read as a standalone, it’s best if you read the first book in this series, Cruel Prince, Jace’s and Dylan story. Ruthless Knight is written in dual POV and tells the story of Cole, Jace’s brother, and Sawyer, Dylan’s best friend.
Cole and Sawyer are so different, but so alike at the same time. Both have their own inner demons and struggles.
She has a big heart, loves and helps everyone, except her.
Cole is a fake AFA-hole. He hates himself, he is no one’s first choice, he is the bad good-for-nothing sibling, that everything he touches he brakes, he sucks at everything, except football. He is the best at it, and let’s not forget, he is also best at pussy… cat
Sawyer is the fat girl everyone hates and bullys at school, no one sees her. No one except Cole. She isn’t good enough for anyone, not even for her family. But Cole definitely sees her.
One night they get to close, they confess something real about themselves. The next day Cole has to save hers and his reputation, and he does what he does best, he breaks and humiliate’s her in front of the entire school.
If that wasn’t enough, after two months, he takes a bet, only this time, Sawyer is at the wrong place at the wrong time, or should I say, for her sake, she is at the right place at the right time, because she hears it all.
They make an agreement. She will help him because that’s what she does, that’s what she’s good at it. But what started as an agreement, develops in something so much more. Something that not even they even think or hope.
Cole and Sawyer will definitely be ones of my favorites couples and characters, but I can’t wait for Bianca too. She has something that draws me to her, and I can’t wait to fully meet her. She really is a crazy AF bish. She is completely nuts, and that’s enough reason for me to like her and love her even more. I know she has some demons that haunt her. She and Oakley have something deep. We sew some parts of Oakley too, and trust me, your heart will break for him. I can’t wait for their book.
This book was amazing. It kept me glued to my seat, hit me with a rollercoaster of feelings and emotions. I laughed so hard, I cried so much. I couldn’t put it down, couldn’t stop reading it.
You must read this book ASAP because you don’t know what you’re missing.
Cole is a popular football player and Sawyer is the resident religious geek. They are like oil and water-They don’t mix.. until they do.
Sawyer has always been fascinated by Cole. She always believed that there is more to him than what he shows the world. Could she be wrong?
Cole hides a lot of pain behind his sensual smile and popularity. He knows there is more to Sawyer than what people think.
When these two must fake a relationship to win a bet, the passion that unfolds between them is anything but phoney. Can they find acceptance and love from each other. Or will self-doubt tear them apart before they realize that they are perfect for each other?
I’m speechless and WOWED. This book is so much more than I thought it could be and every single thing I wanted. It’s like this author reached into my heart and soul and fileted it open. The outpouring becoming the myriad of emotions this author made me feel.
This is one-hundred chapters and one epilogue of monumental proportions. I loved Sawyer and Cole and Oakley and every single character in this book. I’ve never seen characters who are so well fleshed out. They are three-dimensional and REAL. Real in every way that matters. From their raw pain to the love and devotion the characters have is beyond expectation.
Sawyer has issues with her image as most of us do. But, she is beautiful in and out. This is something she must learn come to terms with in her own time. The trials she goes through while doing it, however, are heartbreaking.
Cole has a lot of anger and pain. I wanted to wrap him up. At his core, Cole is very tortured.
Bianca is rude and cruel. Not only does her name start with a capital “B”, she actually is one! I’m beyond words. Sassy and b*tchy with a tiny slice of heart of gold. She is such a dichotomy.
Oakley grows on you from book to book. He is a f*ck up but also so very sweet! What he is going through hurts my heart terribly.
Ruthless Knight is a well thought-out, stunning and heartfelt read that blows everything I’ve previously read in this genre out of the water. You don’t know true pain and love until you’ve read and experienced this book.
I received an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is probably one of my MOST ANTICIPATED books of 2020…
Luckily, it was totally worth the wait!!!
“ ?”
Cole and Sawyer are complete opposites.
Cole is the popular football star, the hot king of high school, the one that all the boys want to be like and all the girls want to be with – but he’s fake…
Sawyer is the fat nerd with the glasses, the one who goes to church every Sunday, that everyone at school laughs and bully’s – but she’s real…
Despite all that, these saints and sinner have one thing in common: they both don’t like themselves.
This book deals with an important question – is it possible to love someone else before loving our self’s…?
Have you ever felt inferior about your looks, which not always match to society’s crooked standards? Have you ever felt guilty about past decisions that cannot be changed, corrected or forgotten…? This is a story about real, imperfect characters – who teamed up together PERFECTLY!
“, … .
’ … ’ .”
When I started reading and saw there were 100 chapters (not including the prologue and epilogue!!! ) I’ll admit, I was worried… like, what is there to write so much about?!
At first I felt that there were some repetitive parts, but pretty quickly everything turned upside down… because I couldn’t stop reading and didn’t want the book to end, like… EVER!!!
Make no mistake, this book was NOT perfect… It had a lot of ugliness and self-hatred… but it was not perfect in a PERFECT WAY!!!
Not only was the plot amazing – but Ashley Jade was able to convey an important message about self-love: because no matter whether you’re thin or full, high or short, wearing branded clothes or not… what’s important is to accept and love yourself as you are.
I will not elaborate so as not to make spoilers AND because if I start writing what this couple did to my poor heart (especially towards the end ) I will probably write 600 pages myself… but if you ask me, this is Ashley’s best book yet. She wrote about painful and real issues, handled them with care – and undoubtedly poured her heart and soul into this book.
” … .
’ .”
This is a second book in the “Royal Hearts Academy” series and can be read as a standalone – but I recommend reading Jace (Cole’s older brother) and Dylan’s (Sawyer’s best friend) story first.
All that is left for me now is to wait for Bianca’s book, the little (and CRAZY ) sister of the Covington family, I’m sure it’ll be just as awesome!!!
I have been anxiously awaiting Cole Covington’s story since I finished reading ‘Cruel Prince’. I knew this was going to be tough book to read, especially after everything the Covington family has been through, but there is so much more to Cole and his little ‘bible thumper’ Sawyer, than I ever expected.
Cole Covington is a popular, good looking quarterback with the world at his feet, but secretly he is miserable and taking his problems out on the world. I hurt for Cole and the reason why he lives in the past but I also hated the way he treated the only person who sees the true him and the anger and sadness he is struggling to hide. Sawyer Church. The sweet, giving girl who is bullied by the popular ones at Royal Hearts Academy, Cole’s friends. Cole definitely is a selfish, inconsiderate jerk and at times it’s really hard to find any redeemable qualities about him that would make me as a reader, much less Sawyer, want to like him. But just like in ‘Cruel Prince’, Ms. Jade finds a way to make a character you can’t help but hate someone you will lose your heart to.
Now I loved Sawyer immensely, but there were times I wished she was a little stronger against the pressures and temptations she faced, but her insecurities made me love her more. Sawyer, just like Cole, is hiding her problems in really self destructive ways. I’m really glad the author stayed true to the story, even when the subject matter dealt with touchy subjects and imperfect characters struggling to fit in.
Cole and Sawyer’s angsty, dark, heartbreaking, bully to more romance is more than I expected and I absolutely loved it.
