Ruthless is book 2 in the Detyen Warriors series, a spinoff of the Mated To The Alien series. You don’t have to read that series to read this one (and the reading order gets interesting), but reading Ruwen before this series would be beneficial. As a side note, reading Soulless (book 1) before this one is almost a must. It stands alone, but only by a hair and you will miss a lot. Written in 3rd person omniscient perspective from mostly the main two leads’ point of view.
Ruthless is Toran, the leader of our small contingent of Detyen Legion warriors. Unlike Raze, he still has his soul, though he’s getting close to the age where he’ll need to make the choice. He was raised a soldier, and his personality shows it: he’s no no-nonsense, to the point, and, as the title implies, a bit ruthless. He is, however, very dedicated to his cause and his people. He cares for his soulless compatriots as best he’s able, and the knowledge that he will likely have to call for their termination at some point pains him. Overall, I liked Toran’s character. Iris was a good match, even if she wasn’t a warrior. The softness balances him, I think.
Iris is a human investigative reporter who has something of a hyper-focus issue when it comes to work. When she’s assigned to the Detyen group to discover if they’re a threat to earth or not, she’s excited to be helping earth. Her odd instant attraction, and trust, in their leader throws a wrench in how she saw the investigation going. Iris doesn’t jump headfirst into the bond like Sierra did, but that really didn’t suit her personality, so I think the gradual acceptance fit well in this. She didn’t fight it like a banshee, just sort of tested the waters slowly. Her overall gentle personality meshed well with Toran’s rougher one.
The story also progresses the underlying storyline of the series and we get some up close and personal with the suspicious ambassador Wreet. There’s some action, a dose of drama from the rescued women, some heartwarming camaraderie, a dash of steam, and a tiny bit of comeuppance. If you like 100 year old mysteries, bright colored aliens, and some earth saving action with your romance, this is a good book for you.
Toran is the leader of a small group of Deytan tasked with mission to return the rescued women back to earth. Also there on earth to find out who destroyed their planet and bring them to justice. Iris is a contract working for the government who’s sent to investigate the aliens and make sure their not there to destroy earth. When these two get close Toran realizes that Iris is his denya his soulmate. So when Iris finds out Torah’s true mission she is all aboard to make sure that justice is served to the evil aliens plotting the destruction of her planet.

Fantastic story! Characters that will steal your heart. A storyline that keeps you on the edge of your seat and glued to your kindle! For me it was a love- hate deal as the characters face their demons. You will feel their emotions and struggles. A definite must read.

I really enjoyed this one. It was well paced, lots of nice detail, a good bit of action, and a good plot. Iris is a strong character without being obnoxious or cloying and Toran is confident and fun to read. There’s some mystery, some intrigue, and a bit of amateurish spying. You’ll enjoy this one.

Torin is kind of a downer until Iris comes along. I loved their chemistry and watching Torin come alive. They were perfect for each other.

This is the 1st book I’ve read written by Kate Rudolph; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the chemistry between the characters.

Hmmm.Toran NaLosen, an alien Who rescued a group of human females that were kidnapped. He is approaching his 30th year. At this point, typically a man of his species who has not made it by now is doomed to die. So he has excepted his fate because he has not found his mate well on a mission. While being detained on earth, so an investigation can be handled and in walks and woman with a scent that attracts his senses. Iris is her name is Denya is her fate.
**** Spoiler alert! Iris noticed “ His skin had appeared golden, but not that far off from the tones she saw in some humans. In person, he was a work of art, … He gleamed. Dark splotches and triangles dotted his arms, … reminding her of a stalking jungle cat who waited in the trees and dealt death with a single blow. He was looking at her… with a predator’s gaze, …ready to pounce.” A quote from the story. *****
Which all this going on I don’t understand how Iris could concentrate with him around. But Toran was making steam in the most craziest of situations. Almost like he need the contact to stay alive. Had to reread certain places to make sure I didn’t lose my place when the steam arose. They find their way to HEA.

Iris and Toran are determined to protect their people… but are they at cross purposes, or on the same path?
Toran is leading a team of Detyen warriors… who Iris is charged with investigating. He is protecting his people… a world away, but she is protecting her people, here, on Earth, and needs to determine if these Warriors came here with hidden malicious intent, or have been honest with the humans.
The more Iris gets to know Toran, the more she begins to understand he has been as honest as he can be… and the more she understands someone in that position can not be 100% with representatives of a world and government with which he has no alliance, and no proven trust.
Clearly the second book in a series, where I have not yet had a chance to read the first book… plenty was shared to make the story accessible to me, but I was also left feeling like there was a lot from the previous book I wished I knew.
This was a very character-centric story that acted like an action-driven story… but as the story ended I felt like very little had happened/been uncovered in the grand scheme of things. That being said, it did feel like the characters had been on quite a journey, and I am curious to read more in the series… I just wish it felt like more territory had been covered within this story — which reached a satisfying conclusion.

This series is one of my all time favorites. I loved Toran, and enamoured by him. In this book you get that real in depth look at who he is and what deep inside. I could understand where Iris was coming from and her personal thoughts had me talking to her like “girl; really???” This book was exceptionally written and I just loved it.

This was so exciting from the very beginning to the end. I loved it so much that when I got to the end I was so sad that there was no more and that I would have to wait for her next one to come out. It is definitely a page turner and worth reading.
Toran was ruthless in the way he was determined. That lead to him finding his Denya. Though it was not smooth sailing for him. He had to work to win his Denya over, especially since their first meeting was interesting, to say the least.
I loved this book! Very well written, with a great storyline. I can not wait to read more in this series.

An intriguing read.
I have not read book 1, so it took me just a minute to fully understand everything that was going on. The story line was great. I enjoyed the characters and their chemistry.
I am excited to read the next book.
I would recommend.
Happy reading!

Another Detyen/Human mating!
by sewsummore
When Iris was asked to investigate the Detyen involvement in the release of the human females abducted from Earth she never expected that their leader would become her mate. Toren had discovered the females while searching for leads on who was responcible for the destruction of his home world. Toren and Iris agreed towork together and with the help of the General they were getting closer to the answers when Isis was captured. This was an exciting read full of danger and desire as the answers and a similar threat to Earth make captivating reading. I look forward to more books in this series and perhaps more Detyen/Human matings.

Book two in the Detyen Warriors series a well written story that had me laughing at somethings one of them being “That machine is possessed by evil spirits, I take no blame for what I said.” I want to read the next book. I love reading from both of these authors. This book was good but it could have been outstanding. The story had moments of action and where the villians are being chased. Iris and Toran has really good chemistry and lots of steamy sex. Because they didn’t catch the villains there will should be more stories to this series. “Ruthless in pursuing what you want.” These words stuck with me. Toran was indeed ruthless, but in a positive way. He was never cruel, only determined and that determination earned him his denya.
I loved the story, there was danger involved and conspiracy but above all else there is that yearning for their mate, their denya, which gave them the courage to pursue their course.

Iris is investigating as to why earth women were abducted and brought back by Detyen warriors. She believes Toran and his warriors did it all along, but why bring them back? The warriors are treated as prisoners, but soon the truth comes out. The author has done a good job with all these characters, each different in their personalities all mesh wonderfully together to bring this story depth. I loved the sexy scenes of Iris and Toran.
