Every girl needs a guardian angel—even if he wears black leather. In the first novel of her scintillating True Brothers MC series, Gillian Archer introduces readers to a sexy-as-sin biker . . . and the woman wild enough to tame him. After dinner with the most arrogant man in the world, Jessica Miller is shocked when her blind date tries to maul her in the parking lot. Enter “Zag”: the brooding, … Enter “Zag”: the brooding, bruising alpha male who jumps off his motorcycle and teaches the jerk a lesson he won’t forget. After getting one taste of a bad boy who lives on the edge, Jessica’s hooked. Zag’s willing to give her the ride of her life. But she needs to wrap her arms around his powerful chest and hold on—tight.
Zag knows firsthand that the True Brothers MC isn’t for the faint of heart. He only intends to show beautiful, innocent Jessica a few cheap thrills to satisfy her curiosity. But the more he lets her in, the more Zag comes to depend on her gentle touch to help heal the wounds that he’s been denying for so long. Now, a rival gang has set its sights on Jessica, and Zag must step up once again. He just hopes he can go the distance to protect the woman he loves.

Ruthless is the first book in the True Brothers MC series and also the first book I’ve read by this author.
This book started off pretty good. I liked the mysterious Zag and found myself smiling at Jessica’s snarky and funny dialogue. Unfortunately, after the incident with Preacher, everything kinda went downhill. Jessica started out as a strong, likeable leading lady, but became a major whiner with no confidence. Being in her head and listening to her second guess everything was exhausting. She was entirely too quick to make assumptions, most of which were wrong, and she had a habit of doing it loudly in front of others. She automatically stereotyped and then tried to apologize and back pedal once she realized how out of line she was. When she kept a certain secret from Zag for so long, that caused me to lose all respect I had for her. She knew Zag was a biker from the beginning so using that as an excuse wasn’t fair. After months of dating, neither Zag nor Jessica would ever talk about their feelings, and they would instead use sex to avoid any serious discussions. There were a number of times that both of their reactions were OTT, and I caught myself rolling my eyes more than once.
I may or may not continue with this series. The next book is about Reb who is Zag’s MC’s president and Emily, one of Jessica’s two best friends. Overall, this book started off strong and then sizzled out.
Jessica & Zag’s story is quite the steamy affair. I enjoyed the characters & the overall story itself, but did have an issue w/ all the back & forth in each of their heads! Even when they’d been together for a while – she’d met & hung out w/ his club brothers, he’d met her friends (but not her family) – it still felt like neither of them were fully sure of the future of their relationship based on their inner thoughts. That was a bit frustrating for me!
Still, as I said, I enjoyed the story & really loved seeing the sweet side to Zag. I also liked that being w/ Zag seemed to shore up Jess’s backbone when it came to standing up for herself.
: )
This was my first book by this author. Since I follow the biker/MC romance genre I’m always looking for a fresh new take on that type of romance. I started reading and after a few pages I decided it was going to be another one of those mediocre biker romances but kept going so that I could provide an honest complete review of the book. That was a very good decision on my part because I soon realized I was hooked into the story and couldn’t put it down. When you have read as many biker/MC books as I have you love a story that doesn’t feel like the same old, same old. As I got further into this story I realized it had a “real” feel to it. Good girl meets bad boy MC member is a usual theme. However, in this tory the feelings both Jessica and Zag feel seemed genuine and reflected what a normal good girl would battle after entering into a relationship with a bad boy.
Jessica is a normal, good girl from a stable middle class family. She goes to work each day as a desk clerk at the casino, has two very close childhood friends and a Mother who is forever trying to find her a husband. She’s independent, intelligent and is instilled with solid family values. She’s not a virgin but she doesn’t have a vast sexual history. Zag is your usual hot, alpha, gorgeous man who was abandoned when he was 16 and picked up off the streets by Rebel, the president of the True Brothers MC. Rebel has raised Zag more or less as a son. I liked the way this author wrote about the closeness between Jessica and her family as well as Zag’s relationship with Rebel and his MC brothers. So different but yet somehow the same.
This was a nice read on a cold Saturday afternoon. Zak and Jessica’s relationship was very “fast”, but fun. Several times while reading I kept telling myself, “this isn’t real life. No one would do this in real life.” I liked the story so much I purchased the rest of the series. It’s very steamy and I liked all the books.
A little different read for me was nice for a change. Gone were the billioniares. These were every day people struggling to make a living. First book I read about bikers. A bit dangerous but still good people struggling to get through life.
After constant hounding from her mother, Jessica Miller finally gives in and goes on a date with the man her mother is certain is her soulmate, but after some enlightening conversation, and being tricked into footing the bill for the disastrous date Jessica is ready to run. Once again her mother got it all wrong, this guy is no where near what Jessica is looking for in a mate, and that conclusion is drove home after he follows her to the parking lot and tries to convince her that he is owed more than just a pleasant exchange of goodbyes. When she isn’t willing to fall prey to advances, and tries to fight him off, he gets a little aggressive and tries to make her understand that he isn’t so willing to take “no” for an answer. But before he has a chance to get what he wants, a handsome stranger intervenes and comes to Jessica’s rescue. Her handsome hero has dangerous written all over him, but Jessica is smitten, and just can’t seem to walk away, so she does the unthinkable and asks him for a ride on his motorcycle. Walking on the wild side for one night sounds like the perfect way to put her bad date behind her, and the sexy brooding man in front of her not only looks like the perfect distraction, but also looks like he is more than capable of teaching her how to embrace her wild side.
The minute biker Zag Cooper comes to Jessica’s rescue he knows he may have bitten off a little more than he could chew, she is beautiful, and oh so tempting…and so out of his league. After he comes to her rescue and she looks at him like he is her ticket to the wild side he knows he should walk away but he just can’t resist her, she wants a ride, and he decides it’s an offer he can’t refuse so he gives her the ride of her life, with the expectation that he’ll never see her again. But surprisingly she finds her way back into his life, when she witnesses a crime that has ties to his motorcycle club, her life is now in danger and Zag can’t help but want to play hero again and keep her safe.
This book was my introduction to Gillian Archer and after devouring this delectable little read I instantly knew she was a author I needed to know more about, so I promptly set out to add more of her books to my reading list! This was a really impressive first read for me, Zag and Jessica’s story captured my attention right from the start, and had me flying through the pages as fast I could turn them, and staying up well past my bedtime to find their happily ever after. It had everything a good romance novel should have; captivating story line, characters with undeniable chemistry, and lots of blush-worthy moments! Zag completely stole my heart, I am a sucker for a alpha male characters who are protective and willing to do whatever it takes to win the girl…and he totally won the heart of this girl!
This book was nothing short of amazing, and I HIGHLY recommend you get your hands on this book, Zag is sure to steal your heart and have you wanting to take a walk on the wild side!!
