„Some people go to college for the education, some for the parties, some to find love. Me? Well, I guess I want all of those things too- but more than anything, I want memories.”
Oh my gahhhh! I can’t believe that I haven’t picked PSU earlier! This is a serious Kindle crack. I’m like an addict who needs her next fix asap. Reading this book was like watching your favorite tv show. I was mesmerized and captivated. For an angst junkie like me Palm South University series is like the pot of gold!
I can’t even describe how entertaining this book was. The drama, parties, lies, sex… this book has it all in spades. I love how Kandi explains fraternities and sororities, how she shows uncensored college life and everyday struggles the characters must face. There were so many jaw-dropping moments, shocking reveals, heartbreaking and upsetting times… It’s like an emotional roller-coaster with a countless amount of curves. And I’m here for it!
Each episode allows us to get to know another character and let me tell you, they are all AHMAZING! Some you’ll like, some you’ll admire and some you’ll simply adore. I have a weak spot for Bear. Daaaaamn, how I love this guy! I want to climb him a tree, for real.
Binge this series RIGHT NOW. It’s totally immersive!
This is my second time reading at I was just as into it as the first. This book made me feel like I was at PSU with these people. Like I was in their world! I hate some people, loathe others and love how it all is developing!
Rush the first book in The Palm South University Series is a mash up of MTV Laguna Beach and The Hills. Reality TV but in book form. These amazing college students who form incredible bonds with current and incoming students. Each episode is like watching the drama unfold on your TV! This book took me completely by surprise. I’ve never read anything like this with so many characters who has stories all their own. It was like watching my favorite episodes of my favorite reality show. Romance, drama, suspense at its finest. Can’t wait to see what transpires in Archer. . .
BOOK REVIEW
RUSH by Kandi Steiner
Book 1 in the Palm South University series
I am not sure how I missed the PSU series and was super excited to get binging.
This book was of course very well written, with lots of angst, twist, turns and hot steamy sex.
I never went to University so the whole sorority thing is new to me, gosh it seems like a lot of work, lots of fun too for sure but very confusing to this sorority virgin
This book had lots of very different characters that come from different walks of life. I think the mixture was great though as opposites definitely attract and keep things interesting.

If you love a hot steamy Young Adult book then this series is for you.
If you love tv series like Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill then this is the series for you. This series follows some College students through their college years.
What I loved is that each chapter is from a different persons POV and is set out like a TV series. Each character brings something different to the series. I was hooked from page 1 and can’t wait to see how this is going to play out.
Ok seriously how is this not on TV yet? This has everything you love in a reality TV show. Guys and girls in college, sleeping with however they want, partying, drinking and getting into trouble.. I mean this is entertaining. You never know what’s gonna happen in this book or I’m guessing the series.
*This is an old review but it still stands*
This book was so fun to read!! Again, I read it super fast It was actually one I received from joining Kandi’s newsletter, and I really loved it! It’s true to its word when it says it’s like Gossip Girl and Greek. SO MUCH DRAMA! I was kind of hesitant to read it at first only because I don’t usually go for a super dramatic read; the characters often will come off as whiney in other books and I can’t really relate to how they act most of the time. But I DO watch those type of shows so that’s a little hypocritical As far as the book, I didn’t feel that way about the characters at all; I loved all the different personalities and intertwined experiences they went through. It was easy to imagine this being on television every week. I found myself wanting to get through all the chapters so I could see what happened with certain people and I love that about a book. It kept me wanting more.
Very different, very interesting. Now I’m versed on Universities’ Sororities and Fraternities going ons. I thought this was going to be a normal YA story about the trials and tribulations of college students, but it’s more than that. It’s like a sitcom (with some angst) of students who rushed into these organizations and are living a full college life, including the rages (parties), crazy drinking and sexing. I actually saw very little studying done in this book, but I hope that happened too .
The book is organized into six episodes and there are around 7 characters involved: Erin, Bear, Skyler, Cassie, Adam, Jess, and Ashlei. All of them have issues going on and all happen during this semester of college. Some of the issues are: getting involved in drugs, doing a different kind of exercise and hiding it from friends, two girls in love with the same guy, student/professor affair, politics within the Fraternity, family are druggies and are constantly asking for money, family in dire financial straits and needing assistance, an up and coming poker star player.
The story is interesting but doesn’t get to a conclusion because it’s sort of an on-going series. Initially I didn’t find it very interesting but as I got to know the characters I started to get invested. It was a little confusing because some characters are Littles and others are Bigs and there is something about a Greek family line. It is slowly coming clear and I’m eager for the next book and see how things progress.
While I love the concept of this series, and the episodic and reality TV-esque nature, this first installment has a character, Bo (she is part-Asian), whose descriptions made me very uncomfortable (eg. exotic and unique features) and she and another character had a questionable interaction. Some characters’ storylines were also rushed a bit and it was more of a summary of what happened. I couldn’t connect to some of the characters as well because of how short their sections were. I did read this in a day, however, and it was definitely a book that sucked me in and has an interesting group of characters.
I picked this up on Kindle Unlimited on a whim and because I recently read Love Letter To Whiskey. At first I didn’t connect with the characters, but before I knew it I was hooked. I love how it’s almost written like a TV show.
Rush is different from anything I’ve read. It is written in TV show format and follows around seven students and their journey through college at Palm South University. There are multiple episodes throughout the book and each chapter tells one of the students stories. Each student’s story intertwines with the others and it was easy to keep all their stories straight. It was a smooth and fun read about these characters’ beginnings since I already read Steiner’s standalone Black Number Four, which is all about Skyler. Rush takes place before. I am definitely interested in reading the continuation of these characters’ lives at PSU, so I’ll definitely be back to finish the series soon!
This would be an awesome TV show
I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I saw its written as a serial and I was wary. I love Kandi Steiner’s work but I was still on the fence. So many characters…So many POVs…
And yet, I had a blast. Palm South University is definitely a fun place to be. I love the variety of people, life situations, and friendships.
I definitely want a place at Palm South!
This was my first Kandi Steiner read, and it did not disappoint! The story is told from many different perspectives, giving you a wide view of the relationships, friendships and the whole college/fraternity experience they all share.
I enjoyed this book and need to get the next one!
Join the sorority sisters and fraternity brothers as they embark on the next chapter of life, new friendships are forged and relationships engaged as they navigate through the first semester at palm south university
This really is like watching a tv show unfold a concept I’ve not really come across before and I’m really enjoying it. Its full of teenage angst and drama, a really good soap opera on paper ,looking forward to carrying on the series.
This was the first book by Kandi Steiner I’ve read and I loved it immediately, like what’s not to love when there’s 7 different POV’s. Having so many POV’s was entertaining and made for some quick reading. I love in depth stories about two characters don’t get me wrong but Palm South University was refreshing.
I loved how each Episode showed us a few POV’s and even though they were short episodes I liked it better that way because I could sit down and read an episode within an hour and not feel like I was just up and stopping in the middle of some intense story line (not that this story line wasn’t intense).
As I was reading I kept notes about each character.
Cassie – She’s so cute… I LOVE HER!!!!! Cassie seems like she’s the nerdy girl because she’s pre-med and deemed innocent. I feel bad for her though because she’s clearly into Adam but Adam doesn’t seem to know what he wants. I feel like Cassie and Adam are a good fit (once he realizes it)
Bear – I like him and it’s sad how his family treats him. I really think Bear and Skyler would make a cute couple but I don’t mind him with Erin either.
Jess – Her story is HOT!!! Every scene I read about her makes me want more. The sexual chemistry between her and Jarrett is on point.
Skyler – I think Skyler’s cute and I love how she’s into Poker. I also love the scenes between her and Bear. They are so meant for each other if they just removed themselves from the friend zone. I think my favourite part was when Bear met her parents (and the little side convo with her dad).
Adam – Adam’s torn between two girls. He’s had a thing for Skyler for some time and the way he describes her is sweet. I like how he admits to himself that he likes it when Skyler’s dressed down. (More guys should be like that) but on the other hand it’s hard to watch him and Cassie together. They’re both clearly into each other but I get why he’s attracted to Skyler (and honestly the scenes from Skyler’s POV get me because she really does like him) I’m curious to see what happens between these three.
Ashlei – Her story line is all kinds of crazy. I loved the scene with her and Hayden and I totally get the whole getting caught up in the moment thing but she’s right to distance herself from Hayden and the drama he’s causing her. (Or maybe it’s not even Hayden whose causing the drama, I think it might be a little bit of Kya’s doing too). I honestly wasn’t expecting an F/F story line but you know what theses are the times and it’s college/university right. I’m curious to see how Ashlei’s going to get herself out of this mess.
All in all I can’t wait to see what Season 2 has in store for us readers.
*Note: I’m also a writer myself and reading Palm South University answered a question I was curious about, has anyone thought about writing in more then 2 POV’s and if so how would everyone react to them.

How had I not read this series before!? Such wonderful characters that come from different walks of life that somehow blend together. So much angst yet a sense of belonging and knowing your sisters and brothers have your back. Knowing the backgrounds of each character makes this book so intriguing! Had I joined a sorority when I went college this is exactly how I would picture it. Can’t wait to dive into the rest of the series!
I don’t know why I didn’t read this series sooner! Kandi never disappoints! I loved it! I this book you meet a lot of characters! I love that you get to read from all of their points of view! I can’t wait to read the rest!
Why haven’t I read this book before???
I loved it. It really feels like a movie and the characters and story overall it’s so realistic done that I feel like I’m in there with them.
Oh sweet uni years when everything is changed and happening at light speed and still feel like you can’t keep up with everyone.
There’s a lot of stuff going on, from the sorority houses and new friendships and teachers to the parties and steamy scenes, the rivalry between them and finding their dreams and path along the way.
Family drama is not missed either and finding that special person that’s there for you at all times.
I’m off to the second book now.
Thank you, W for making me read this series at the right moment.
Going in I wasnt sure what to expect with it being written like a tv show. While it sounds like a good concept it took me a while to get used to reading the book this way. I was getting a bit confused with who each of them were, but by about half way I was starting to remember. Not growing up in America I was also lost on the University/Rush concept so it took me a while to understand that too as I haven’t heard of that before.
I liked some characters more than others but overall it was a fun read and I’m looking forward to what the next book brings!
I’m a huge fan of Kandi Steiner and have had the PSU series on my kindle for quite some time and now I’m wondering why it took me so long to delve into the PSU world.
Loved how this is written like your favorite TV series and getting to know all seven of the main characters.
So much fun and I can’t wait to see what else is in store for this group of wild crazy guys and gals!!
