“But really, with the number of secrets and lies between them, how far could this really go?”
I read Running Blind as a standalone. It was my introduction to S.E. Jakes. Yeah, those that follow my reviews probably guessed right away that it was the motorcycle on the cover that got my attention. It’s no secret that I’m a badass biker addict and MC Romance is my favorite genre.
While this is the second book in the Havoc series I read it as a standalone. I had no problem jumping right in. The characters that were featured in the first book were present but I wasn’t lost at all. From the very first page, I was in Bram’s head. At first that was a confusing place to be but eventually, all the pieces fell into place and I was fully on board with his predicament. He was hiding from the motorcycle club that he’s been on the verge of patching into as an undercover ATF agent. Before that could happen he attempted to bail but was caught and beaten to within an inch of his life. He needs time to heal but the pain won’t stop him from searching for his missing brother, Linc.
As S.E. Jakes is a new-to-me author I wasn’t aware I was reading an M/M Romance until I got to the first sex scene, and boy was that an eye-opener. Let’s just say that Sweet wasn’t so ‘sweet’, and he liked it.
Next thing I knew all hell had broken loose and he learns that Sweet is the president of Havoc MC and the other MC that wants him dead has learned where he is and they are coming for him. Will Sweets throw him to the wolves or protect him? Should he reveal his ATF affiliation or will that guarantee his death? Where is his brother and is he safe? Will Havoc help him find him or turn him over to his enemies? Does he want to be on top or does he prefer the bottom?
So many questions, right? You’ll have to one click to get your answers. Just consider it Running Blind until you do.

Yowza! This story hit the ground running, on two wheels. Seriously, from the first moment in the alley to the end on top of the pool table, I was hooked, engrossed and on the edge of my seat. There is so much going on in this story, it never really slows down and that was fine by me. Fast paced, full of energy and sex, lots of angry sex that grew into so much more.
Braum really doesn’t even know who he is. All he knows beyond a shadow of a doubt is that he has to find his brother and he can’t stop moving, running, hiding. If he stops for just one second, everything begins to crumble and fall, the facade of whatever mask he’s wearing that day begins to melt and he can’t tell the difference between who he is and who he is pretending to be.
Sweet is a bad ass. As the president of Havoc MC he carries the weight of the world on his shoulders when it comes to his club, his men and their families. There is a bit of darkness in his past but he’s always known who he is and who he’s supposed to be. His men do not question his authority, they may argue with him, but his word is law within Havoc MC.
Sweet makes Braum stop, breath and feel. Braum makes Sweet want to take care of him, shield and protect him. They’re fucking perfect for each other. Problem is, they’re both too damn stubborn for their own good. The push and pull between them is electric, it’s like a heavy fog that could be cut with a knife. The sex is off the charts from the start and it only gets hotter, better from there.
I did have one tiny issue and it might be a personal thing, but I do not like fisting. It pulled me right out of the story and I had to walk away for a while, then come back. Sorry if that’s a bit of a spoiler but I think it should be listed as a warning in the synopsis. Aside from that, I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
I loved Bram and Sweet’s story. It was sexy, funny and full of action. I totally enjoyed the book and liked how I got to see more characters and revisiting Rush and Ryker. I would definitely recommend this story.
Reviewing this audible book for a fair and honest review. It was gifted to me, thank you.
The story is of two men, Sweet, the president of Havoc MC, he is a bad boy, pretty much secure in his own skin, only one frailty his growing attraction for Bram, a man who showed up on there door steps looking for his brother Linc. Sweet, knows Bram is there for his brother, but is hiding secrets that make him cautious, and rightfully so. Bram is an ATF agent, and has knowledge of a rival MC the Heathens . The growing attraction, the secrets, intrigue, betrayal, oh so hot sex scenes and Brams love for his brother make this story interesting and worth listening. Enjoyed the narration by Mark Larchmont as well.
What a book. Although this book is the second in the series, I have only listened to this one and can say that this can definitely be read as a stand-alone. Both of these men are very strong willed and stubborn when it comes to what they believe and it was fun watching them butt heads with each other. There are a couple of twists that you don’t see coming that keep you even more interested in what’s going on. I love the way their story ended in this book and can only hope they will be included in future books in this series.
Narration was very good as well. I always knew who was talking and never got lost or confused during the whole narration.
Biker With A Twist
This is a first time author for me and even though it was the second book in the series I was able to jump right in and not miss a beat. Since I love MC reads and seen that bike on the cover I knew I had to check it out. This is an M/M biker book and of course the bad*ss alpha males were coming out of the woodwork.
Bram left the hospital after being nearly beaten to death by the Heathens MC of which he was a patched in member of and went searching for his missing brother in Havoc MC territory. This is where Bram met Sweet who was the president of the very powerful Havoc MC. A man like Sweet didn’t stay in power by trusting anyone and Bram was hiding a lot more than his association with the rival Heathens.
