“This is a bad idea.”“The worst.” He placed his hands under her butt and lifted. “Should I stop?”“I’ll murder you if you do.”Hailey Odom’s life is out of tune. The bar she owns with her father is a Texas-sized money pit that she has four months to save. Her mean as a snake ex-husband is breaking their daughter’s heart daily. And the town of Zachsville hates her guts for something that was only … heart daily. And the town of Zachsville hates her guts for something that was only fifty percent her fault.
And oh, right, she just ran out on her own wedding.
Beau Callen’s life is hitting all the right notes. Dubbed “The Heartbreaker” by his adoring female fans, he’s living the country music stardom dream. At least until an “altercation” lands half his band in jail and the other half in the hospital, this rising star could use a temporary place to crash.
The last thing Hailey or Beau needs is a scorching hot romance messing with their plans. So when Hailey rents Beau her backyard guesthouse and passions blaze hotter than the Texas sun, their dreams are in serious danger of going up in flames.
To make it all work, they’ll have to keep their hands off each other and their eyes on the prize. Too bad their hearts are singing a different tune.
Don’t miss Running After a Heartbreaker—A hilarious friends-to-lovers, sexy musician with a heart of gold, determined single mom, small-town swoony romance.

Hailey is the talk of the town for being a single mother, for having her wedding at her bar’s beer garden, and lastly for stopping the wedding before she gets married. The town also has never forgiven her for telling her star quarterback boyfriend that she was pregnant the night before he blew the state championship. Beau is an upcoming hot country star who can’t help flirting with every female. Beau is drawn to Hailey because she has plenty of sass and doesn’t fall for his lines. Neither wants to give in to their attraction because they have other plans. I received a free copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. This is a fun read where the characters experience gossip, hurt, hard work, love, humor, steam, and romance. The book also illustrates the need for closure from past hurts. I really like Hailey’s daughter Lottie as a strong secondary character as well as Hailey and Beau. I recommend this book and series.
This one started a bit slowly, but when it caught me, I was soooo glad it did! May had one of the more memorable lines in the book, and that is saying something. Definitely worth reading!
I love Jami Albright’s Brides on the run series and this installment is no different. Hailey has been vilified in her hometown since she told her boyfriend, the high school football star, that she was pregnant, causing him to play badly and the team lost the championship. That was ten years ago and it still persists. Her ex is the worst father ever and so when Beau, the heart throb country singer, comes into the lives of Hailey and her daughter Lottie, Hailey realizes what life should be like. Bogged down by guilt and obligation to her mom’s memory, Beau can see how this beautiful strong woman transforms into a meek pleaser to try to make everyone like her. Hailey and Beau have a fantastic chemistry and I loved Lottie, she was so sassy and cute. Even though this is book number 4, you don’t have to have read any of the previous books in the series, although it does give some background into the characters, and quite frankly the books are wonderful so why wouldn’t you?
The fourth of Jami Albright’s Runaway Brides series has left me wondering how she could possibly top it. Beau and Hailey are so well suited that it’s hard to see them go through all the things life throws at them. There was so much laughter, that the tears shed were well worth it. Their passion burned so hot, I’m surprised my kindle didn’t melt. Don’t miss one of the most well written romances of the year. A true 5 read. You need to get this book!!!
Ms. Albright did it again this book is so dam good! Are you looking for a book that will make you laugh maybe cry a little and just can’t put it down. Then look no further this book is for you!
I love the characters and let’s not forget that she adds all the other characters in this book from the previous ones especially Honey.
Beau Callen is a country singer trying to make it big but for now he has been playing at the local bar Boon. Where the owner is feisty and takes no bullshit from him. His good looks and charming personality does not work on her. She tells as it is. Which is why he likes her so much. Hailey the owner of Boon’s is suppose to be getting married and moving out of her house so Beau will be renting her house and he can finally move out of his cousin Jack’s house until he moves to Nashville. Little did he know that he would end up living in Hailey’s apartment up her garage as she did not end up getting married. The interaction between these two is steamy and funny. Then there is Lottie Hailey’s nine year daughter who is such a riot you can’t help but love her. She know exactly how to manipulate Beau to get him to do what she wants.
I voluntary read this book for and honest review.
From the first book that I read, that was written by Jami Albright, I’ve been in love with her writing. She describes everything in detail, and makes the reader feel like she is living the story. This is the fourth book in this series and I’ve read all four, and enjoyed every character and their love stories. This particular story dealt with the love between Beau and Hailey. A couple that had both lived a rough life and were still trying to find their peace and happiness. Their meeting was not planned, their relationship was not planned, their love and understanding was what saved their lives and resulted in a beautiful HEA, along with some help from Lottie, Hailey’s daughter and all their mutual friends. I loved this beautiful, heartfelt story and will always recommend books by Ms Albright to all my friends.
Loved it can’t wait for the next one.
OMG!! I have loved every book in this series, but this one is my favorite. I can relate so much to Hailey and all of the feelings and emotions that she deals with and goes through. I sure wish I had met a Beau. Speaking of Beau, WOW… yep, that is all I got…WOW! Just buy them all, read them, consume them, and love them because they are all freaking awesome!
Sexy songwriter and the single mom!
Jami Albright’s Brides on the Run series just got a new story to add to the already fun, humorous, HOT and steamy collection and with it, a new leading man to fall in love with. This book has bumped off all the others as my favorite in this series so far. Of course, I loved each and every one of them on their own but I’ve been patiently waiting to have Beau’s story since he appeared as Jack’s newly discovered cousin in book 2.
While bar owner, Hailey is trying to get past the humiliation of the whole town judging her after she dumps her groom at the alter, she and her daughter are slowly wiggling their way under Beau’s radar and straight into his reluctant heart. They might be just what he needs but didn’t think he wanted. He and Hailey are just friends, so he was sure she wouldn’t want him anyway.
Beau, nicknamed the Heartbreaker for obvious reasons…I mean, look at him- gorgeous, sexy, funny and if that wasn’t enough, he’s a sweet country boy at heart. He is a gifted musician, a singer with natural talent and wow, all that swoony charisma is hard to resist…the world is waiting to discover all he has to offer as he plays his music for the good people of Zachsville in Hailey’s bar waiting for his big break.
I really had so much fun getting to know Hailey, her precocious and perceptive daughter Lottie and of course the hunky, thoughtful Beau. The presence of so many of my favorite and crazy characters from the other stories playing such a big part in Beau and Hailey’s trial and error romance was a huge added bonus for me.
Some of the best parts of Jami’s wonderful stories, besides her amazing writing ability, are the sense of community she creates for the reader to feel a part of with her little town of Zachsville. A lot seems to happen there!!! The quirky personalities of her characters, the witty dialogue and of course, the sweet and awesome couples you wish were your friends so you could hang out in their world all the time! I always finish her books with a smile on my face, maybe some happy tears and a yearning for her next fun, romantic story.
Running From a Heartbreaker is told in my favorite way- Dual POV’s and can be read as standalone, but, if you have a chance, check out the other books in this series. A fun way to pass some time this summer while possibly finding a new author to love!
An copy of this book was provided for me to read in exchange for my honest review.
Jami Albright’s 4th Book in the Brides on the Run is a roller coaster ride of laughs and tears. Beau is trying to live his dream of becoming a country music star and Hailey is trying to honor her mother’s dream of bringing her bar back to life in a small town that will never think she is anything but white trash. Our young lovers have a lot of baggage to sort through and you get to visit with all the wonderful characters from the prior books in this series. Be prepared because you are going to have trouble putting this book down…enjoy!
Loved loved loved this one! Beau and Hailey’s story has everything you need to write a number one country music song! A gorgeous singing talented heartbreaker, his guitar, a truck, a bar, a dog, the girl and her daughter! You’ll laugh, you’ll cry and you’ll be rooting for their happily ever after!!! Loved this one in the Running Brides series by Jami Albright!
I loved this book!!
Beau and Hailey are wonderful people with off the charts chemistry, a LOL sense of humor, and some baggage. Loved them! Also loved Lottie, and all the other secondary characters (Great to see “old book friends”). This story had me laughing, and then the angst had me on edge. The epilogue was perfect and wrapped things up beautifully.
Absolutely love the story of Hailey, Beau, and Lottie. Hailey has been stuck in her life and didn’t know it until Beau comes into her life and gives her friendship and a little more. Can Beau and Hailey go any further or will stubborn pride get in the way. This book is amazing you need to read it.
Love, love, love the Brides on the Run series and could not wait for Beau’s book!! If you love a great slow burn romance, then make sure to put this on your to be read list. The build up between Hailie and Beau is agonizing, but so worth the read! The development of Hailie’s character from tortured small town girl to woman with a backbone was such a beautiful transformation, I found myself cheering for this girl! Beau is the quintessential southern gentleman inside a tortured soul and the perfect match to Hailie’s broken spirit. Definitely a great summer read!!!!
I received an advanced reader copy for an honest review.
Great book!
You don’t want to miss the 4th book in the (Brides on the Run) series.
There is so much happening. About the time I thought I could put the book down it would take a different turn! Characters are life like and realistic just like people in your town. You will be amazed at the plot!
I did not stop reading until I finished the book!
Jami Albright never disappoints! One of the best written books! I am a avid reader!
Once again I’ve ventured out from under my rock and taken a chance on a new-to-me but apparently popular author. My respite from darkness certainly paid off and, just like that, Albright secures herself a place on my list of must-read authors with this hilarious, delightful, heartfelt read!
Single mom Hailey Odom has rented out her house and moved her things, but at the final hour she has a disagreement with her fiancé and leaves him at the altar. Just one little detail she’s forgotten: she returns home to the same house she already rented to her friend and up-and-coming country music star, Beau Callen. Let’s just say things get very interesting when Hailey’s sleep is interrupted in the middle of the night by the new tenant. (Picture a six-foot-plus hunka hunka bunking temporarily in the only available space — nine-year-old Lottie’s princess bed.)
Hailey has been blamed for more than her share of mishaps in small-town, small-minded Zachsville, Texas. She does her penance by being on every volunteer committee and letting the PTA moms walk all over her while she tries to keep the bar her mother left her afloat. I’m not sure the last time I met a heroine who did so much growing and self-actualizing as Hailey, and her stubbornness makes her fight it every step of the way, but that only makes Hailey’s transformation that much more inspiring. It’s sobering when she realizes the lessons she’s been inadvertently teaching her daughter, but it’s beautiful and uplifting as Hailey makes her own community and family, one of her heart and her choosing.
Then there’s Beau, one of my favorite kind of heroes. Unrepentant flirt with a sexy smirk who’s protective of his lady and not hesitant to stand up for her, but knows when to step back and be supportive. That doesn’t mean he’s a pushover because, when Hailey needs it, Beau doesn’t sugarcoat the truth. He has a big heart, especially when it comes to little Lottie, and his interactions with her are some of the most poignant, special scenes in the book.
Whether you like single parent, friends to lovers, small town romance or strong four-legged secondary characters, there’s something for every romance reader in this romantic comedy. You’ll laugh out loud as it squeezes your heart, and you’ll be eager for another visit to Zachsville and more of these amazing characters. Grab your copy of this heart warming, hilarious, phenomenal read today!
*I reviewed an early edition of this book freely and voluntarily, having made no commitment to provide feedback and receiving no compensation of any kind from any source.
This books starts off with Hailey getting ready to marry Roger, a man with “not-too-handsome features…” So we know she’s not going to go through with it.
After a couple of days, she realizes that because she was going to get married, she had rented out her place to Beau, an up and coming singer. But… she’s not getting married, so they decide to help each other out. He’ll have a place to stay in her slut hut, she’ll get help with her bar. She pretends that she’s immune to his charms, but that isn’t quite true…
Also, Hailey has a daughter, & she can’t be too careful what people could be around her. So she tries to make sure Beau is safe… A background check should be okay, right? How about a fingerprint check? *laughing*
But remember, no matter what happens, ice cream always makes everything better…
Although this story was a bit predictable, it was still enjoyable to read.
Holy hotness! Beau and Hailey‘s story was so addictive and steamy I couldn’t get enough.
Beau isn’t your typical player. Yes he loves women and is a natural flirt but he has the biggest heart of gold out there and would never hurt someone else (unless he is protecting his own).
Hailey had a teenage pregnancy which was the town scandal. To this day the town still resents her over it so the badass amazing mother and bar owner does anything to try to get the town to forgive her. This means allowing them to use her like a doormat.
Hailey finally stands up for herself while Beau learns there is love with the one woman that doesn’t fall for his charm. His dream career is not the most important thing in life but those he loves.
Yet another laugh-out-loud book from Jami Albright that’s hard to put down. Absolutely loved this one, as I did the other books in the series.
This book is funny, and sweet and all the things a good romance book should be. I really enjoyed it!
