“This is a bad idea.”“The worst.” He placed his hands under her butt and lifted. “Should I stop?”“I’ll murder you if you do.”Hailey Odom’s life is out of tune. The bar she owns with her father is a Texas-sized money pit that she has four months to save. Her mean as a snake ex-husband is breaking their daughter’s heart daily. And the town of Zachsville hates her guts for something that was only … heart daily. And the town of Zachsville hates her guts for something that was only fifty percent her fault.
And oh, right, she just ran out on her own wedding.
Beau Callen’s life is hitting all the right notes. Dubbed “The Heartbreaker” by his adoring female fans, he’s living the country music stardom dream. At least until an “altercation” lands half his band in jail and the other half in the hospital, this rising star could use a temporary place to crash.
The last thing Hailey or Beau needs is a scorching hot romance messing with their plans. So when Hailey rents Beau her backyard guesthouse and passions blaze hotter than the Texas sun, their dreams are in serious danger of going up in flames.
To make it all work, they’ll have to keep their hands off each other and their eyes on the prize. Too bad their hearts are singing a different tune.
Don’t miss Running After a Heartbreaker—A hilarious friends-to-lovers, sexy musician with a heart of gold, determined single mom, small-town swoony romance.

Stupid book. Made me stay up way past the time I should have been sleeping and made me bust out the tissue box at the end. There was more than a few times that I wanted to stomp my feet at Hailey and tell her not to put up with the small town whiners, but she got there, with her friends, her daughter and Beau’s help. If you’ve been reading the Brides on the Run series, all of our previous characters from the books are all back in this one, a supporting cast this group, but it was so great to see them all again.
I think this series is getting better with each book as Jami Albright finds her voice more and more with each installment. Highly recommended series – start at the beginning and good luck getting to sleep on time.
This was such an awesome story! It was fun, flirty and sweet. I loved her “country-isms”! Too funny!
It has all the wonderful characters from earlier in the series located in Zachsville Texas. This is Hailey (owner of Boon’s Saloon) and Beau Callen aka The Heartbreaker. He is the next up and coming country music star.
The story begins as she’s about to get married to Roger. She finds out right before the ceremony that Roger isn’t as quiet and mellow as she thought he was which causes her to cut and run.
Beau has run into trouble too with his band mates and needs a place to lay low. Hailey is having trouble with her father, exhusband and keeping her saloon out of the red. He and Hailey come to an agreement to help each other out.
They learn to trust and lean on each other. He teaches her and her adorable little girl Lottie that there are good men out there and it’s ok to ask for help. It a journey of growth and gaining confidence for them both. I swear, I just kept thinking, “made for TV movie for the Nashville network”! Would be awesome!
I received this as an ARC for my honest review
Love this book
It made smile, laugh and cry
Witty banter and hot chemistry make this a fun book as Beau pursues his dream, and Hailey realizes that dreams she never dared can come true. Beau is one of those heroes that just oozes sex appeal and charisma. He is a bright and shining star. Hailey is terrified of letting herself love him, terrified of being hurt again, and terrified of living a life she doesn’t believe she deserves. I just love Beau and that underneath his charm he is a solidly good guy. I adored the relationship he builds with Hailey’s daughter, Lottie. Lottie is a super sweet kid who is trying to figure out all of the adult drama that shapes her life and Beau is first and foremost a friend to her. I appreciated that Hailey has a tough journey through this book, stepping out of her comfort zone, taking chances, and still trying to live up to her obligations. I love that she is such a good mom to Lottie. I love how much she believes in Beau and her willingness to be uncomfortable in order to help him out. Their road is not an easy one, but they make it through to their HEA. I have to say that this epilogue will go down as one of my favorites of all time- warm, fuzzy, heartfelt, swoon-worthy, and a real romantic dream. This one is a winner.
What a fun story! This is the first book I have read from Jamie Albright. This is a quick read feel-good book. I found the main characters to be well developed.
Hailey and her 10-year-old daughter fall for a musician who is waiting for his big break. Hailey owns a bar with her father. When her mom was dying she asked Hailey to promise to keep the bar running after she died. Her dad wants to sell the bar because it is losing money and they could sell the property for a lot of money. He tells Hailey she can keep the bar if she can make it profitable within a year. She doesn’t have time to be distracted by a heartbreaking musician.
Beau just needs a place to rent while he takes time off of touring with his country music band. He is sure his big break is right around the corner and can’t be distracted by a cute young woman and her kid. He doesn’t have time for that. That is what he keeps telling himself
I very much enjoyed this story in an audiobook format. The story was fun and a little sexy and the reader did a pretty good job with the different voices. I recommend this book in either the written format out the audiobook format to readers looking for a fun beach read and hopeless romantics. It has everything you could ask for, a cute little girl, a little dog, a cowboy, and a beautiful young lady. What’s not to like?
This is a great series. This book was one I was looking forward to because Beau made a brief and memorable appearance in the last book, but also because Hailey was not exactly likeable in her secondary role as Charlie’s friend.
Not only was Beau smoking hot, but he saw through Hailey’s tough facade. He saw why she had walls. He was really a very giving and sweet man. And mostly, he came to love her little girl without even trying.
I hardly noticed how much time passed as I read the book. The road was rocky between Hailey and Beau, but it was interesting and I wanted to find out what happened.
Wow, way to go out with a winner Jami! I loved Beau and Hailey, their banter, chemistry and sexual tension was spot on! Two people, one determined to have his dream, the other afraid to dream at all. The secondary characters are every bit as important as the key characters.Check out this Brides series, it’s laugh out loud funny and sexy as hell! Meet Gavin & Scarlett, Jack & LuAnne, Hank & Charlie and Beau & Hailey. Make friends with them, you’ll never regret it, I promise!
I don’t want this to be the last one!
I love this series so much! They are all a joy to read and up there in my all time favorite Rom Com series. Every single one just gets better and better! Hailey and Beau and their story even with it’s little bumps along the way made me laugh, smile, and cheer for them as they tried to find their way to their forever. Add an amazing cast of supporting characters and it’s the perfect read!

4.5 stars. Good, fun romance with mild heat, complex characters and a few budding singing sensations!
Jamie Albright’s latest heroine, bar owner and divorced mom Hailey, is a Texas gal of two minds. She’s a pushover with judgemental locals but feisty in her dealings with Heartbreaker Beau, an up and coming country singer. Their romance was good, filled with just enough drama and stumbling blocks to give it depth and lots of heart, but I utterly adored Lottie, Hailey’s daughter! She features prominently in the storyline and adds heaps of touching and humorous moments, right up to the HEA epilogue. Plus, all of the couples from the three earlier romances in the series make frequent appearances.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Great romantic tale. Great characterizations that included some lovely quirky people. We need quirky people in our lives. This story had all the “feels”. Well done!
As well as a lovely romance, real life issues were also brought out into the telling of this story. It is a shame how some people cotton onto an idea, impression, situation, and get so immersed into it beyond just the occurrence itself. There were a few sub-stories happening in tandem with the romance that unfolded in this tale. Definitely some lessons to be learned from reading this story that indeed have more depth to them … life lessons.
Loved it! Recommended reading!
I’ve been really lucky of late to read a series of books that were just so good they’ve left me speechless. This one doesn’t break the pattern. I adored Beau. I have from the moment he first stepped on the page however many books ago that way. He’s a true Southern charmer, just like his cousin. And all that charm gets him into just as much trouble as it gets him out of. I’m not quite sure why, but I really connected with Hailey. None of the events in her life mirror mine, but I find myself repeating a lot of her actions. It broke my heart to watch her do those things, especially knowing the consequences that would be coming her way. Lottie is just the most adorable ball of precocious energy. With her too-wise observations, this book would have been a very different story without the con-artist in the making. I loved getting the chance to see how all the previous couples from the series are making out. And even though I don’t have a clue where the series is going to take us next, I’m looking forward to the journey.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
Beau, Beau, Beau, where have you been all my life. This man with his down home drawl, he had me at his first words. Picturing him in my mind’s eye had me wanting to move down south where men will darlin’ me to death.
Hailey is getting married, no wait she isn’t anymore. Hailey has wanted to do nothing more than keep the promise she made to her dying mother that she would keep her bar, scratch that, beer garden open and thriving. Well she got the open part right, the thriving not so much. Fighting tooth and nail at every stop has Hailey questioning her sanity. When she decides to marry her boyfriend she feels she is doing right for herself and for her daughter. Love will come later right, that’s how these things work. When she sees Roger speaking to her father, who also can’t be bothered with the bar legacy she has happening, her spidey sense activates. Bride walks into a bar, bride walks out.
Beau heads off on a quick tour knowing he will have a safe, temporary place to lay his head when he returns. Hailey is letting him rent her house since she is getting married, fully furnished too, since no other place in town would let him keep his dog. When he gets back home he finds a roommate he didn’t expect but one he wouldn’t toss to the curb.
Hailey and Beau don’t deny their attraction to one another, but both vow that nothing good could come from them letting go of their inhibitions. She doesn’t want to be part of his buckle brigade and he isn’t a relationship kinda guy, especially when said relationship comes with a ready made family. As much as they fight it though, the universe ups the ante.
This is my first read by the author and I am an instant fan. Watching Hailey realize she isn’t as happy as she thinks she is was eye opening not only in the course of the book but seeing some reflections in my own life. Letting the town push her around for far too long had me cheering her on. I rated it 4 ½ stars because I felt there was a little too much back and forth when it came to her confidence and jumping to conclusions. Otherwise well done, and I’ve already downloaded the other 3 books to catch up on the secondary characters and how they arrived to their present. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance reader copy without expectations. Great first read for the new to me author.
Perfect love story that will melt your heart. Beau Callen is an up and coming country music star. If we remember from Running with a Sweet Talker, Jack and Louann found Beau when Jack had a family reunion. Beau is his cousin and has so much talent and looks he is destined to be a star. Beau is focused on his career and sweet talking the ladies. That comes natural to him, they all love him except the feisty Hailey Odom. She seems to be immune to his charm.
Hailey is struggling to keep her bar open, Boon’s was her moms and on her deathbed Hailey promised to keep it going. That seems to be more and more difficult. When her soon to be husband is overheard having a conversation with her father she decides she is better off on her own. That is until the “heartbreaker” moves into her home.
This is such a great story not only about falling in love but healing. We also get to revisit all the great characters that live in Zachsville Texas.
I received an early copy to read and review and give my honest opinion. I loved this book and I love this series. This is a standalone so you don’t have to read the previous books, but you will want to. They are all fantastic. I highly recommend this book. 5 stars for sure.
Enjoyed it
Jami Albright is one of my go-to authors.
What I liked:
The writing style
The characters
Part of a series: Brides on the Run
Standalone
HEA
Epilogue
I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC.
This author is one of the best. The reader becomes invested in these characters as they adjust to the challenges in life. Such a heart warming happily ever after story.
This author just keeps getting better! Running After a Heartbreaker is the whole package: great character development, strong plot, wonderful characters, humorous dialog, romance with a little steam and the necessary HEA ending.
This book features Beau and Hailey, a country music artist on the brink of stardom and a single mom desperate to honor her mother’s last wish by keeping her bar open. Beau and his band occasionally play at Hailey’s bar while waiting for his tour to begin. These two people resist the chemistry that flares between them, until one evening, their restraint breaks. What started as a fling slowly evolves into a relationship akin to “friends with benefits”. How do these two people find their HEA ending? Read this book and enjoy getting to know Beau and Hailey.
This is one of the best romance books I have ever read!
If you have read Jami Albright’s other “Running” books, then you have been looking forward to reading Hailey and Beau’s story. They showed chemistry and sparks in a previous book and it’s great to see they have their own story.
Hailey is a single parent holding onto the one thing she has left of her mom and the doing the one thing her mom asked of her before she died. To keep the bar open. She’s pouring everything she has into it, but it seems to be a losing battle.
Beau is a rising country star, doing what his grandfather always wanted him to do.
Things happen that put Beau into Zachsville for an extended period of time and the sparks and chemistry between him and Hailey are undeniable.
Can they be together and still keep the promises they made?
Another great read.
Another awesome installment in the Brides on the Run series. Beau and Hailey are so real and Beau’s love for Lottie melts your heart. The cast of characters from the previous books in the series makes you feel like part of the family. A definite must read!!!!
Another wonderful book in the Brides on the Run series. This is Beau and Hailey’s story. Beau is an up and coming country singer and Hailey is a single mom who is trying to keep her bar profitable. I loved the chemistry between Beau and Hailey. Beau was also wonderful with Lottie, Hailey’s daughter. He understood what she was going through since he felt the same when he was growing up. This story had some laugh out loud moments which only Jami Albright can write with her sense of humor. There were also heartbreaking moments, too. I certainly hope there are more books coming from Jami since she is a wonderful author. I received an ARC of this book and am leaving my honest review. I do have my copy pre-ordered but I’m glad I was able to read it early.
Who could resist this Heartbreaker?
Maybe Hailey? Beau respects and admires Hailey even more because she calls him on his flirty crap. But when they spend time together these two heartbroken people find they understand each other and build each other up. I could absolutely not put this book down. This character driven falling in love story was witty and thought provoking and a tearful yet happy read. I love that we catch up with all of the brides and their HEAs. But most of all at the end of the book I had a smile on my face and knew that it was time well spent.
