Redemption has long evaded the former Enforcer, Sebastian.
Viewed as a monster, Sebastian has roamed the country in hiding, running from his bloody past and failures. A series of mistakes has left him hopelessly lost and waist deep in dark, uncharted territory. In order to escape certain death, he makes a deal that may seal his fate.
Lucas has been chasing after his heart for years. Sebastian … Sebastian has been a ghost he cannot grasp and the demons of his past are closing in. Joined by Elliot, a charming and mysterious doctor, the pair wades into darkness and untold dangers.
Lucas had expected to face all manner of foes on his way to save Sebastian.
He didn’t expect Elliot to be the missing piece of the puzzle.
Runes, Ruin & Redemption is book 5 in the Stallion Ridge series. While the relationships are self contained, the plot ties back to the first 2 books in the series. It is recommended to read those before starting with book 5.

4 stars – It was really good
This was another very different book for the series. Again, this one doesn’t take place in Stallion Ridge but we do have three characters from the town. Lucas and Elliot have gone off to search for Seb and have finally found him in the bayou.
This one was more action packed than romance focused but it was still a very good romance. Lucas and Seb parted on very rough terms and they struggled to get past that, at least until they included Elliot in the mix. Seb is also struggling with his alcohol addiction. He has used alcohol to hide from the pain of what he did during the war for years and it has really taken a toll on him physically and mentally. This time though Lucas and Elliot are there to support him through him and help him stay sober.
I wasn’t expecting a triad in this series but it was very enjoyable. I really liked Lucas, Elliot, and even Seb once he was sober. I loved that we finally got to learn more about Elliot and sphinx’s because I have been dying to learn more since it was revealed what he is. Their adventure in the swamp was crazy and action packed. I was not expecting ghosts, zombies, and new shifters.
Overall, while different, this was still a really great book for the series. I can’t wait to see how these three integrate themselves into the town in future books. Especially Seb, since so much has changed since he was last there.
This is a wonderful and heartbreaking addition to a series I adore. Seb is an Enforcer, on the run and trying to drown his guilt for past misdeeds in alcohol. Lucas is the love of Seb’s life, who Seb hurt in a moment of panic. And Elliot is the magical doctor who is helping Lucas search for Seb, while he is secretly in love with both of them.
This story is action-packed and full of emotions. The characters who inhabit this paranormal old west world are fascinating. I especially love the Chimera brothers and croc shifter who become great friends to the main trio. There are harrowing events that make me shiver and unfair judgements and actions that make me cry.
I was glued to my Kindle until I reached the end, and I was a mess by the end. I loved this installment to the Stallion Ridge series, and I look forward to the next. Seb, Lucas, and Elliot own a part of my heart now, and I know I’ll read their story again.
This was absolutely EPIC! Right from the first page, this story has been a rush that’s kept my heart rate spiked up and didn’t lower until the very end.
Although I was already familiar with the wonderful fantasy world Maz Maddox has crafted for this series, I was still amazed by how the descriptive writing style could make everything seem amazingly real. So much so that , & made me feel more like actually being there, in the middle of the action, than a mere outside witness.
Every page of the book brought out a new emotion or got me involved into a new adventure. Crossing deserts or swamps, fighting men or undead creatures, it’s been a continuing thrill and ongoing excitement.
I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED IT!
