Lord Rupert Haywood, future Duke of Belmonte, has no desire to manage an estate with his corrupt father. He prefers to roam the ocean with his crew of rugged pirates; known as Captain Rosse he’s turned from privateering to trading.
When her mother arranges a marriage for her, Louisa decides she might just don a pair of breeches and discover the Caribbean in disguise.
The book started slowly & took some ‘getting into’ but the paced quickened & became a very good read once the sea voyage began. Louisa isn’t your typical debutante; she’s thin with few curves & obsessed with the sea. Rupert is lovely & his attraction to Louisa had me laughing as he wondered how he could be attracted to another man. The characters are well portrayed.
An enjoyable read that will have you smiling, this could well be a standalone book, there are some links to the earlier books but few & they don’t detract from the book. I look forward to more in the series
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book
This entire series is wonderful and I highly recommend it! Putting in a special word for this one, my favorite, although the next two are also very good, IMO.
Wow. I loved this! Louisa is a wallflower who just wants to study marine life but is being forced into marriage. She makes desperate escape for freedom and her passion for the ocean. Along the way she finds love.
I really enjoyed this book and will be reading more of Blythe’s books in the future.
This book did not keep me totally interested. I finished it. Louisa is an modern American woman thrown into a world where women do not do as men do. She would be considered a nerd in this day and time. Her American brother inherited a dukedom, so her family is considered no.t fit by English standards. She is an inventor, and she flaunts it about
Loved this book.
Started out slow, but in the end I couldn’t put it down. Good story!
I enjoyed this book. This was not a grand love story, but it was a love story. It was simple, two people who spent alot of time together realizing they were in love. She was not betrayed as some great beauty, in fact, it was just the opposite. But he still loved her.
Uplifting. The girl takes charge of her future. Good plot, nice characters, not too long. Easy read.
It was hard to get into this book. It kept jumping around.l liked the heroine, she had gumption and was very intelligent.
I loved this story. It kept you on your toes, which is hard to do in some cases. It was an adventure from beginning to end.One of those,at some point,I will read again.
Very different and unique story unlike any other I’ve ever read. I enjoyed the book.
Enjoyed this book very much.
Ending is slower than necessary and a bit disconnected.
Very good book
Romantic with wonderful characters. Action packed historic adventure with unpredictable twists and great conclusion. Page Turner!
I will follow this author. I love how she tells a story.
just not my cup of tea
Enjoyable and not predictable. I would like to read the other books in this series.
Pp
Too much sexual content. The story was not too strong to begin with and then she jumps in bed with the captain. I stopped reading
