Londyn McCormack didn’t have a typical childhood. She ran away from home at sixteen, escaping parents more interested in drugs than their daughter. She doesn’t have loving siblings or an adorable pet. Her only family is the five other runaway kids who shared her junkyard home.Life pulled them all in separate directions, taking her to Boston. For a short time, she thought she’d found something … something permanent. But after a devastating divorce, she’s running away again, this time to find a lost friend.
She’s driving across the country in her convertible. As a teenager, the rusty car was her shelter. As an adult, it’s her ride to freedom.
Except one flat tire derails her trip. Her life collides with Brooks Cohen. They walked away from the first crash. The second might destroy them both.

There are seven colors in the rainbow. The American alphabet has twenty six letters. A few authors are able to take those twenty six letters and weave them into words and ultimately a story as majestic as a rainbow. Author Devney Perry is on of those very talented ones. She successfully crosses genres and every story is one that I will hold in my heart forever!
When you life implodes and you are forced to make a decision sometimes the road less traveled and a road trip are just what your broken heart needs. Top down and hair flying in the wind Londyn heads out of Boston on the road trip of a lifetime. A mishap and flat tire have her meeting Brooks.
As Londyn stays in Summers, WV she falls in love with the quaint small town and people that live there.
Brooks is a true gentleman with some secrets of his own and a heart of gold.
I don’t want to ruin this sweet, slow burn storyline for you. I can just tell you that you won’t be sorry if you one-click this unforgettable page turner!
Devney Perry has done it again and brought us a new series for us to become addicted to.
This one is a super sweet small-town romance that will have you completely hooked from beginning to end. Honestly I loved it, the characters, the town, the storyline, it was all so well written, you will not want to put this down and will want the next book now!
What I loved most about this one was the fact that the romance was a beautiful slow burn, they really developed their feelings and connection before anything really happened between them.
Londyn is a great female lead. Considering the life she has lived she is amazingly strong. I was honestly rooting for her and Brooks to get their HEA. Honestly this man was totally swoon-worthy and I seriously want to know how I can clone him for myself.
I can’t wait to see what happens next with the next book in the series which is Gemma’s book.
Lindas Book Obsession Reviews “Runaway Road” by Devney Perry, March 2020
Devney Perry, author of “Runaway Road” has written a fun, delightful, charming and entertaining book. The Genres for this novel are Romance and Fiction. This is the first in “The Runaway Series”, and I look forward to reading other adventures. The timeline for this story is in the present and goes to the past when it pertains to the events or characters. The author describes her characters as mostly flawed and likable. There is some adventure, and this is an easy to read book.
Did you ever feel like running away? Londyn McCormack has had enough after an upsetting divorce and decides to actually run away. Londyn left home at 16 and lived in a junkyard with other friends. She is determined to find one of them, who lives in California, and heads off in the restored Cadillac she is driving. Even the most well-laid plans often offer detours off the path. When she gets a flat tire, she is sort of forced off the main road and is side-tracked. I would highly recommend this enjoyable novel.
Runaway Road is everything I’ve come to love about Devney Perry’s writing. I wanted to hop into a Cadillac and go along for the ride.
A sweet, slow burn read proving that sometimes you have to runaway to find your true home. I loved everything about this book.
Runaway Road is a bit of a detour for Devney Perry. It is “lighter” than her other books but chalk full of suspense and romance as we have come to expect.
Londyn had it tough growing-up, becoming a teenage runaway to except her terrible home life. She eventually made her way west, feel-in-love, and married but she felt like she had lost who she was. Now with an ex-husband, Londyn sets off across the states to return a special car to one of her friends from when she was homeless but detour finds Londyn with a car in-need of repair in West Virginia where she meets sexy garage owner Brooks Cohen. Stranded waiting on parts and needed car repairs, Londyn finds herself drawn to Brooks. Soon they both crave each other’s company but an expiration date looms in the future and both finds themselves with unexpected feelings for what was just supposed to be a summer fling.
Runaway Road is a delightful romance story of the underdog finally finding their true happiness without losing themselves in the process. The story is fun, flirty, and a must read for any true romance lover.
Devney Perry never ceases to amaze me with her books. For example, I’m not a huge fan of small-town or single parent romances for that matter, yet this book is both and I couldn’t possibly have loved it more. For that matter, the majority of the books I’ve read by Perry are what I would consider small-town romances and honestly, she’s without a doubt one of my favorite authors. I do tend to read more dark romance, rockstar and bully romances then the vast majority of other books at my vast disposal, but I often find that Perry writes books that I not just read, but I read again and again.
Devney Perry writes stories so full of heart and soul. The romance is so deeply written into the pages that I can’t put them down and read them at lightning speed. Runaway Road is everything that I expect from Devney, yet it’s got an extra sweetness to it and is also sexy as hell. It’s the story of a woman who literally only knows how to live her life in by running away from the things that have hurt her, and yet she finds home in the last place she’d ever have expected it. The heat factor between Londyn and Brooks was a high sizzle and the story kept me reading cover to cover. As a matter of fact, I got to the end and felt like I had just gotten started…not because the story was lacking in any way—because it wasn’t at all—I just didn’t realize I had been reading as long as I had. I felt like I had just gotten started, and I really wanted more when I read the epilogue, I liked it so much. That for me is something that I can usually live without… I’m not that girl that reads and needs to read extended scenes past the conclusion of a story but there is just something about the relationship that built so easily and passionately between this hero and heroine that had me melting right up to the very last words. I promise Runaway Road was so easy to get lost in and since this is a start to a new series by a truly phenomenal author, I would highly recommend it to new readers and longtime Devney Perry book lovers! Honestly, I have to say I look forward more and more to her work—I love that no two books are ever the same, and the beauty in her stories is just so above and beyond. This book is definitely a five-star read!!!!
A unique premise from fan fave Devney Perry! Try this sexy, heartwarming small-town romance now on all platforms.
Devney Perry is one of my top five go to authors, she is a master at writing romances and I love that her stories are in based in small towns. Runaway Road is the first in her new Runaway series and the romance and connection that I always love in Perry’s books is all there.
Runaway Road follows Londyn (love her name), who is set on taking a leap of faith and traveling to meet up with her past friend. Londyn’s life turned upside down when she discovered her husband was cheating on her, so she wants to leave her life, her phone, and everything connecting to her husband behind. But her trip is cut short when her car breaks down in the middle of nowhere. She meets Brooks Cohen, who owns a nearby small town mechanic shop. There is instant connection, but Londyn is just passing through, until random acts of sabotage on her beloved car keeps her in this new small town a lot longer.
I really enjoyed Londyn’s growth through the book, her husband did a number on her and coming from a past of loneliness and running away when she was young, she molded herself to what her husband wanted. Now she is free and wants to find that connection to her past, but this small town and the people that live there start burrowing into her heart.
I adore small town stories, I loved all the secondary characters, the funny old ladies who like to nosey their way into your personal life and the bff who has your back no matter what. Plus the connection with Lodyn and Brooks is smoking hot right from the get go. The couple has a lot of bumps in the road and with Londyn leaving soon, Brooks has his heart on the line.
Overall this was a great story, sweet and sexy romance and character who captured my heart. Perry always has a bit of suspense in her stories, this one isn’t as intense as her other stories, it was definitely a lot lighter. Nonetheless I still enjoyed the journey and I cant wait for Gemma’s story because with her past similar to Londyn’s and her empire she grew, I’m excited to see where her life takes her.
I am obsessed!!!
This new series by Devney Perry is everything I love about a book. I laughed, cried, swooned, and then cried again. I could not put this book down for a second since the moment I started it, I was on the edge of my bed at the AM reading this until I finished it.
This story was about two people who were missing something in their lives. Londyn after a nasty divorce is out to find herself, she has a destination but destiny has a way of messing with plans that are made. Brooks is a guy who is just trying to do his job and be the man he always wanted to be, he never expected to meet a lovely woman on the side of the road and fall head over heels for her.
These two were fire, I loved how strong their chemistry was. I loved how sweet and caring both of these characters were. Brooks is what Londyn didn’t think know she needed in her life. This book is a must read!!!
I loved this book! It’s a feel good, enjoyable romance. Once again Devney spins her web of creativity into an incredible story that you can’t put down. I found myself falling for these characters!
Londyn just left her cheating husband and is celebrating her new found freedom with a trip across the country in search of … well, she doesn’t know, not really. She just knows she no longer wants to live life following someone else’s dictate. Now it’s her script and she plans on living it to the fullest.
Enjoying the wind in her hair and the beauty of the open road gets derailed quickly when her car ends up in the ditch. Enter Brooks the knight in shining tow truck. Londyn finds herself stuck in a small town and stuck on Brooks Cohen. Perhaps that’s exactly what she needs, or rather what they both need.
“A flat tire and Brooks Cohen had thwarted my plans. His long wet kisses and the slow strokes of his tongue had taken priority over my road trip.”
Brooks is a gorgeous, sought after single father making the best out of life. He goes through the motions, but without truly living. He didn’t realize how alone he was until…
“She’s blown into town and made me realize the hole in my life. The hole in the exact shape of a five foot five blond woman with jade green eyes.”
Devney gives us two hurt souls longing to fill their hearts. Brooks and Londyn will show us weeks of a beautiful romantic dance. I loved absolutely loved this! Experiencing the dance with them was heart-felt and HOT! They built up their connection and the sexual tension became combustible!
“Passion and anticipation coated each minute I spent with Brooks like warm chocolate on vanilla bean ice cream. It took every second to the next, delicious level.”
But they both know once the car is fixed, Londyn is gone. How much will you let your heart fall knowing tomorrow it will be gone?
Another brilliantly well told story by Devney Perry!

What a quick and fun ride!
If you looking for a quick and easy read that brings all the feels… look no further!
I seriously need the rest of this series now! I must find out what’s going on with Gemma…. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO KARSON! OMG! DEVNEY! TELL ME NOW!!!!
I do wish that the timeline was lengthened a bit but I understand for this story, it wasn’t really plausible. But that’s just me. I like more time with my characters. I NEVER WANT BOOKS TO END!
Everything else was PERFECT!

Runaway is a really sweet story of self discovery and finding your place. This charming small town romance (Devney Perry writes the best small town romances.) was so heartfelt and tender. It’s one of those stories you devour in one sitting and when it’s over you just feel good and happy.
I loved these characters. Londyn may be my favorite Perry heroine to date. She’s strong, independent and determined. After her divorce, she decides to pack up her 1964 Cadillac DeVille convertible and leave her old life behind. Then a flat tire lands her in West Virginia. There she meets Brooks Cohen, the uber swoony owner of the garage in charge of fixing her beloved car. Oh man. I fell hard for Brooks. This man is just plain good. He’s caring and protective. A genuine dream man.
The connection between Londyn and Brooks was instant and strong. Runaway Road is a prime example of instalove done right. The entire story takes place in the span of a couple weeks but it doesn’t feel rushed or absurd. It’s very well written.
I would definitely recommend Runaway Road. Eveyone needs a cute and easy romance that will make your heart soar.
Runaway Road by Devney Perry is the first book in her new series Runaway. Devney Perry wrote a wonderful story which drew me right in, making me forget everything else and did not let me go until I turned the last page.
This was such an easy, fun, quick read. I didn’t want to put it down, in fact I read the whole book in one sitting. Then of course now I want more I need the rest of the stories. The story is very well written and keeps you engaged throughout. You feel as if you are living the story, and every time you think you know what is going to happen you are wrong. This is such a great start to an amazing series. I can’t wait to find out what Devney has in store for Gemma. As with all of Devney’s books I recommend this one highly. Run don’t walk to get this book in your hands you won’t be sorry.
This book has been one of my top most anticipated reads! It did not disappoint! Whenever I can get so into a story to the point that the outside world fades away, I know I’ve found one unforgettable read. That’s exactly what happened to me with Runaway Road! Oh, how I loved it!
Londyn’s journey is one that is so unique and filled with such a realness that completely captured not only my attention but my heart as well. I could picture it all so vividly and that made me love it even more. I adored Londyn and her strength. I fell head over heels for Brooks!
Ms.Perry has done it once again! She’s created such a refreshing read with Runaway Road! It’s definitely the kind of book that I needed in my life and it sure left it’s mark on my heart! I am so excited for the next book, Wild Highway!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from the author*
Here we have another winner from Devney Perry! It’s really no surprise that I loved this book. I’ve been reading her books since she published her first one and haven’t been able to stop since. There’s just something about her worlds that always puts a smile on my face, and this is no different with Runaway Road. While I did find myself missing the Montana scene, I think Devney can write her characters into any setting and still make it feel like home. Here, you’ll be transported to a small town in West Virginia, one that you could easily picture yourself settling down in.
One of the things I love most about Devney Perry’s books are her strong and independent heroines. Londyn McCormack, the lady of the hour in this novel, is a force to be reckoned with. She doesn’t take crap from anyone and that includes her cheating ex husband who was having a fling with his assistant. This, while a horrible thing to do to someone, is certainly the driving force in her personal rediscovery that takes to her a place she didn’t know she could call home. It also drove into the arms of a man any woman would be lucky to call their own.
Brooks Cohen is a kindhearted and trustworthy man. Not thinking he would ever be able to find love thanks to his crazy ex-wife; he finds himself shocked that the one woman he knows he needs is the stranger who swept into his town with a flat tire. Unfortunately, two crazy exes (his and hers) are causing problems between this new relationship, and it could mean the end of them before it even has a chance to begin. What will happen with these two? Well, that’s up to the reader to find out in Devney’s wonderful new book!
Obviously, I loved this novel (hence a 5-star rating) and I am over the moon to know that there are more characters who will be getting their own stories! You hear about them in this book but don’t know anything else about them and I can’t wait to see what they are all about! So, make sure to pick up this one as it’s not only a perfect romance, but has the potential to be a perfect series!
Did you ever wonder what happened to that long-ago friend; where did he go; was he alive, married, happy; or, was he dead. This story has so much meaning that I hardly know what to say. Look at that homeless kid and wonder where his life would go and who would care. This book has twists, tales, heartache and tears about life when there is no one who cares. Do you keep on running and will there be happiness. My heart pounded as I read and I had tears with the great writing by this author. Thanks for making my day and writing a book I won’t soon forget.
Title: Runaway Road
Author: Devney Perry
Genre: Contemporary romance
My rating: 5
.
Devney Perry writes books I love. Books I can’t put down, and this was no exception. If you like a good small-town romance, this ones up your alley. Londyn is a beautiful woman of wealth, but doesn’t act like a it. She’s humble, thoughtful and a conqueror; a survivor of a devastating past.
Everything’s going well for her: house…check, husband, thriving career…check. Until, everything implodes. Suddenly she’s headed for divorce and she’s retreating to West Virginia to flee her unhappy life.
That’s where Brook comes in. He’s a fun, handsome, mechanic whose got more on his agenda than fixing car’s. A chance encounter (a fender bender) causes him and Londyn to cross paths.
Brook offers Londyn more than his professional services. To her, he represents freedom. The kind of fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants fun Londyn hasn’t had in years. But can this beautifully broken girl allow her heart to feel something again? Will she let go and let nature/fate take its course and see where their chemistry goes?
Final thoughts…
This story is mesmerizing. It sucks you in from start to finish. A definite reread.
*I received this amazing ARC in exchange for an honest review. Loved every bit of it*
I loved this book!!! I don’t believe that Devney can write bad, I really don’t. Her last four books have been 5 stars for me. This one had wonderful world building and I look forward to the next one!!
