Londyn McCormack didn’t have a typical childhood. She ran away from home at sixteen, escaping parents more interested in drugs than their daughter. She doesn’t have loving siblings or an adorable pet. Her only family is the five other runaway kids who shared her junkyard home.Life pulled them all in separate directions, taking her to Boston. For a short time, she thought she’d found something … something permanent. But after a devastating divorce, she’s running away again, this time to find a lost friend.
She’s driving across the country in her convertible. As a teenager, the rusty car was her shelter. As an adult, it’s her ride to freedom.
Except one flat tire derails her trip. Her life collides with Brooks Cohen. They walked away from the first crash. The second might destroy them both.

I thought the end was a little far fetched, dangerous and extreme. It took away from what was a good read.
I Iwould like to read it, my download has an error and I cant delete it to try again.
When both main characters finally stop running from their past, or letting it control their future, a happy ever after is certainly possible!
Oh my gosh. I loved Runaway Road so much that I’m going to have to binge the rest of the series before the new book comes out. It was amazing. The chemistry between Brooks and Londyn was so steamy and swoony.
Brooks is caring, sweet, thoughtful and hot. He has a semi-crazy ex wife and a teenage son that he had when he was a teenager. He is a wonderful dad, a family man and a small-town mechanic. He falls for Londyn fast but wouldn’t dream of holding her back.
Londyn is fresh out of a divorce from a man who tried to change her and cheated on her. She is strong, smart and wants independence and freedom. She had a hard life growing up and never found that place to call home. She meets Brooks in the small town of Summers while on her road-trip, and falls hard. But will she stick around?
standalone Book 1 about 6 runaways. This is Londyn’s story. A child of 2 drug addicts she runs away and is ‘adopted’ by other runaway teens to live in junkyard. That was years ago. In the years since she has ‘made it’ in Boston but her ‘awesome’ life has just turned upside down. This story takes her in her Cadillac on her way back to the junkyard. She finds herself and love on the way. A sneak preview is provided for Gemma’s story
Needs a good editor that didn’t beta read to catch the typo/grammar. Some sex scenes, not ridiculously detailed and can be skimmed.
Interesting story, well written and liked the characters. I recommend.
I loved this story! Great chemistry between Londyn and Brooks.
Devney is a talented author. I am a huge fan. I could not put the book down. Devney’s characters are well-developed, and the story is absolutely amazing! It is the first book in a series of five. I read the first four books in three days! It was a treat—so well-written that I could not find any errors in context, spelling or random phrases. You will absorb love the book and want to keep reading and reading.
Buy the book!
This book is even better than I expected.
When I started this book and this series, I didn’t exactly what I should expect about the plot, but I knew it would be great, because everything this author writes is amazing.
And it was way better than I thought it would be.
There was so much freedom in the story, it was a breath of fresh air reading Londyn’s new beginning and it was so addictive.
After everything she’s been through since she was a kid, it was a miracle that Londyn could be so centered. But a new beginning was calling for her, and after being hurt again, the best option was to hit the road with no expectations and let her new found freedom guides her Cadillac.
But no adventure comes with bumpless roads, although some times a flat tire can be truly a blesson in disguise, as it brought Brooks her way.
Despite her toughness built from years of taking care of herself, she is no imune to Brooks potent personality. He is safe, down to earth, a laid back and honest guy that brings the secuity and haven Londyn craves, even if it’s so hard to admit.
They click in a way that is undeniable, both physically and mentally and their feelings were addicting for them and for me.
I couldn’t get enough of them, of their friends and family, of the adorable little town, of their hope and love.
It was the beginning of a wonderful journey, both for Londyn and Brooks and definitely for the Cadillac, that is far away from achieving its purpose.
Londyn and brooks were adorable. She was stunning away from a life that caged her after catching her husband cheating on her with their coworker. Divorced and on the road she plans to live wild and free to find her ‘junkyard’ friends from when she was younger. But car troubles put her in Brooks’ path. The quintessential southern gentleman was ripped and the perfect book boyfriend. But she was determined to put everything in her rear view mirror. Some unfortunate incidents and issues cause her time to Summers West Virginia to be extended. They were perfect together. Swoon.
I love everything Devney Perry writes and was excited to read Runaway Road. I was immediately transported into Brooks and London’s world. They are easy to like and relate to and I loved them together. This is a heartwarming and wonderful story, which I never wanted to end.
*4 Stars*
Firstly, can we take a moment to appreciate the beauty of this series of covers? I just love them so much, and the way the spines look together as well on the physical copies is wonderful. The winding road on the cover, the colours, just love it.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a really nice and easy read, with likeable characters. The communication between them was great and there was really not that much angst, if any at all. In just really enjoyed this book.
Definitely looking forward to continuing this series, and seeing where the road leads.
Great little short story!!
I love Devney Perry – she’s a one click author for me. This story was lighter and quicker than her previous series, but most certainly just as awesome! Brooks is so swoon worthy and Londyn makes you want to give her a hug. They have wildly different backgrounds and yet click perfectly. I can’t wait to read rest of the series!!
This book is funny, and sweet and all the things a good romance book should be. I really enjoyed it!
I’m loving this adventure! Gemma and Easton are definitely had to work for their HEA but hot damn was it a roller coaster. Hot-cold-sizzling-scared. I love the symbolism the Cadillac has throughout these couples journeys, the bonding, familial ties and anchor it becomes on the journey. Once again Devney has created a completely unique story in a tried and true genre and it’s absolutely refreshing. I continue to look forward to anything she writes.
I love the concept of this series a group of teenage runaways who formed a family while living in a junkyard all grown up and still looking for their HEA.
The series kicks off with Londyn. Lodnyn has spent her entire life running away when things got tough but now she has run right into Brooks Cohen in a small town of West Virginia but can a lifelong runner ever settle down?
I love the characters and the story is incredible. I cannot wait to continue this series with Gemma and meet some of the other junkyard kids.
As the first book in a new series we visit the new small town of Summers, West Virginia.
This new series not only gives us a new town, and it’s residents, to fall in love with, but also the promise of a cast of ‘Junkyard Kids’ we’re sure to meet as the old Cadillac makes it’s way across America to California.
It’s stay in Summers was full of repairs and touch ups – much like what Londyn herself was in need of.
Certainly by the end of the season in Summers, Londyn is fully restored and ready for the new exciting adventure ahead.
I can’t believe this was on my tbr for so long. It was certainly worthy of its place!
Brooks & Londyn’s story is the beginning to another wonderful series by this author! She is aces at creating worlds I want to live in, characters I want to know & have as friends!
Londyn is a smart woman, although she hasn’t always felt that way. I just love her attitude about things. Even when she’s upset, she’s not UPSET. She rolls with the waves of life – she has a plan, but doesn’t get upset when it gets a little derailed. And Brooks is SUPER swoony! I definitely fell in love with him along with Londyn.
This was a quick read – a page turner – a dive into an instant attraction creating an unexpected friendship turning into a beautiful & FUN HEA. I thoroughly enjoyed this story & am looking forward to reading Gemma’s!! : )
Londyn ran away from home and a bad situation when she was 16 years old and she’s been running ever since. She leaves before she can be left. What she didn’t expect, was to find the small town of Summers, West Virginia and Brooks Cohen.
Runaway Road by Devney Perry is an amazing story about finding home. As with every Devney book, it is well written, steamy, and real! Londyn and Brooks have explosive chemistry from the start. Fantastic 5 read!!
