Londyn McCormack didn’t have a typical childhood. She ran away from home at sixteen, escaping parents more interested in drugs than their daughter. She doesn’t have loving siblings or an adorable pet. Her only family is the five other runaway kids who shared her junkyard home.Life pulled them all in separate directions, taking her to Boston. For a short time, she thought she’d found something … something permanent. But after a devastating divorce, she’s running away again, this time to find a lost friend.
She’s driving across the country in her convertible. As a teenager, the rusty car was her shelter. As an adult, it’s her ride to freedom.
Except one flat tire derails her trip. Her life collides with Brooks Cohen. They walked away from the first crash. The second might destroy them both.

An interesting story about a woman who thinks running is the answer to everything. You have to read the story to understand, but guaranteed, you will enjoy it. Sexual situations and foul language. A happily ever after ending.
I felt this book in my soul!! Devney Perry kicked off her Runaway series with Runaway Road and it is showing a whole new side to Perry. This is my third series that I am reading from her and every time I am blown away not only by how versatile she is but how she always pulls you in no matter the story.
Londyn was the heroine that we all needed. She is so used to running away that when she ends up in a small town in West Virginia after a minor mishap she starts to fall for the small-town charm and the ever-charming tow truck driver/mechanic Brooks. Yet, she doesn’t know how she should feel about it. Should she stay and fight for this new life she is starting or should she run…
Brooks is everything you want from a MC in a small-town romance. He is charming, protective, caring and HOT!! The chemistry between Londyn and Brooks is a delicious slow burn with a uniqueness that I haven’t seen much but I absolutely adore.
“Don’t forget me,” I whispered. I’d been forgotten by too many people. I couldn’t bear the idea of Brooks forgetting me too. “I’ll remember you until the end, Londyn.” Brooks ran his knuckles along my cheek, leaving a trail of sparks on my skin. “Until the end.”
I shed a couple tears, I laughed and CONSUMED this story! It was absolute perfection in so many ways. After the conclusion of Runaway Road I can’t wait to see what unfolds in Gemma’s story.
This is the first book in the Runaway Series. I thought it was very unique and Devney Perry’s storytelling was incredible, her characters are intriguing.
Londyn sets off on a road trip in a 1964 Cadillac DeVille convertible. The purpose of the trip is to deliver it to someone from her past.
Not long into the trip she gets run off the road and lands in a ditch. She gets towed into Summers a small town where Brooks Cohen happens to own the local garage!! Sounds like there is a romance brewing!! Can you guess that she does not complete her road trip!! This author always delivers incredible epilogues!!
This was a great read!
I started reading this series in the middle so it was nice to go back and see what I missed. I loved the characters and the storyline. It is a pretty light read, but it did a good job developing the characters and wrapping up loose ends.
I’ve finally finished this series I started with book 2. This was not my favourite, but I plenty enjoyed it. Brooks and Londyn are instantly attracted to each other and a series of events keeps Londyn in town while on a road trip to escape her divorce. The audio is really good. What kept me hooked on this is Ms. Perry’s writing. It’s addictive.
This is the first book I have read by Devney Perry that was not Willa Nash and I loved it.
I always love a road trip story, add in a beautiful small town and a hot single dad and I’m all over it.
Loved Londyn and Brooks, they were such a sweet couple and I really loved them together, they just worked so well.

Sweet read
Great quick read that you could easily read in one sitting, great storyline, great characters and a great ending.
Good series with a real world background. Very nice travel images.
Londyn did not have a typical childhood. She ran away at 16 and spent her youth searching for a place to call home. She built a good life for herself through hard work and a little luck. After a devastating divorce, she is running away again. This time she is not looking for shelter or a job. She is out to find the carefree and happy woman she once was. A flat tire on her convertible derails her plans, and her life collides with Brooks, a small-town mechanic. He, rugged and handsome, catches Londyn off guard and proves that kind, honest men exist. Her car is fixed and her trip mapped. As Londyn leaves Virginia, she must make a choice – turn back and risk her heart or stay on the runaway road. – Brooks was awesome, a great catch. I loved the way he and Londyn interacted. He was respectful, caring and honest. His son was the same, a good character in the book. Londyn finally found the life she deserved – great story.
Oh what a great ride the author takes the reader on in this book! A few twists, a fresh start at life and a wonderful love affair – Runaway Road has it all!!
NO SPOILERS!
Devney Perry swept me away on an epic, MUST READ adventure in Runaway Road, and I absolutely LOVED Brooks and Londyn’s sweet, sexy, emotional, and swoon-worthy road trip story!
The storyline was fantastic and totally exceeded my expectations. I went in blind and definitely don’t regret it. The plot was a pleasant and unexpected surprise, and I couldn’t have loved it more. I laughed, I cried, I smiled and swooned, and was absolutely ecstatic with the conclusion.
The characters were phenomenal and completely stole my heart. I absolutely loved Brooks and Londyn and thought they were a perfect match. They had amazing personalities and I couldn’t help but fall madly in love with them and several other characters.
Runaway Road was absolutely incredible and hands down a MUST READ romance from Devney Perry! I loved experiencing every moment of Brooks and Londyn’s journey, and would highly recommend this sweet, sexy, emotional, and swoon-worthy standalone road trip romance. I’m so excited to see where the rest of the Runaway series takes me!
I really enjoyed Londyn and Brooks’s story.
Londyn McCormack was running away, headed to see an old friend. Along the way she has a mishap with her car, which puts her in Summers, West Virginia. There she meets the town and the lovely residents. The one she’s most interested in is the mechanic Brooks Cohen.
Brooks Cohen hasn’t had any luck with relationships in the past, so he’s hesitant to start up something with the women who is just pasting through. But Londyn isn’t like anyone he’s met before and can’t help but to get wrapped up in her charm.
Sometimes running away can lead you home.
I enjoyed the story. Will most likely purchase the next book in the series. I’ve read several books by this author and it’s been consistently good stories .
I loved the easygoing rhythm of her storytelling style and the sensitive presentation of her characters.
I loved the premise of this story and I really did like it. However, the writing was just okay for me, not exceptional. The heroine, for her horribly tragic past, seemed a little too well adjusted. It was a great premise but she didn’t have enough complexity. Our hero was somewhat better and I like the couple together, they had some good chemistry. Maybe if the book was longer there would have been more space to explore some of their fears and dreams challenges. The setup of her crashing her car and her tow truck driver being Mr. Wonderful felt kind of cliché, then the car keeping her there forever or long enough to fall in love was unrealistic. I really wanted to love it more but my heartstrings never really twanged.
Great book
4.5*
I’ve read every book this author has written, and I have loved each and every one. Runaway Road is another wonderful story which left me with a happy heart and smile on my face.
Londyn was used to running and taking care of herself. She believed those days were over, but after a bitter divorce, she was once again on the road in search of herself. Brooks Cohen was yummy! From the moment he’s introduced, you know that man is a great guy with a big heart. He’s so sweet to Londyn and the two just click. I was right alongside Brooks wanting Londyn to stay. Wyatt was a cutie too.
Runaway Road is the first book in a new series about six friends who were all runaways as kids and lived together in a junkyard. We met Gemma in this book and her story will be next. I’m anxiously awaiting it’s release, and have a feeling this will be another great series where I will fall in love with all of the characters.
These comments are a little late in the making, folks, meaning I forgot to review right after reading so my memory bank is already a little foggy. So I mostly need to notch this book on my “did read” literary belt bookshelf and move on. Maybe I should consider this a true test of whether this book was noteworthy or not based on how memorable it was…or wasn’t.
Let’s see, I vividly remember liking how this story started. Cool, sassy heroine who had had enough of her lying, cheating hubby, whom she felt programmed to please, so hit the road in her hot, fixed up, $100,000 remodeled car to visit her former junkyard roommate buddy out in California, at least that was the original plan. Events unfold which leave her stranded in West Virginia, where a handsome, sexy, good with his hands, single daddy mechanic sweeps her off her feet. Enough said! Do I really need to tell you more? Probably not. Just know I did enjoy this book, and it was by far the best book of the series.
Book 2’s heroine, Gemma, was too weepy, wishy-washy, insecure for my tastes, and Easton, her hero, was slow to man up and own his feelings for her. You see, it’s hard for me to root for love when I don’t see the main couple doing it, folks. It seemed they mostly were just doing it…if you know what I mean. I didn’t feel a genuine emotional connection with them until basically the very end.
I’m about to dive into Book 3, which will feature Easton’s handsome, completely clueless to Katherine’s (the heroine who is a friend of both heroine’s in previous books) head over high heels feelings for him. We’ll see where that road trip leaves us, folks. Now there’s a real knucklehead that’s got some explaining to do.
I got to say the backdrop story of six random kids supposedly who lived unnoticed in a junkyard for years is a big stretch of my imagination. The author clearly wanted a large pool of potential people to eventually get their own HEA book. I have to wonder if even she will get tired on trying to pull that many off.

Good story. Interesting twist. Engaging characters.
This charming small town read was relaxing, minimally angsty, and sweet with some sexy edges. I loved Londyn’s journey to rediscover herself and adored Brooks ridiculously so!
