Londyn McCormack didn’t have a typical childhood. She ran away from home at sixteen, escaping parents more interested in drugs than their daughter. She doesn’t have loving siblings or an adorable pet. Her only family is the five other runaway kids who shared her junkyard home.Life pulled them all in separate directions, taking her to Boston. For a short time, she thought she’d found something … something permanent. But after a devastating divorce, she’s running away again, this time to find a lost friend.
She’s driving across the country in her convertible. As a teenager, the rusty car was her shelter. As an adult, it’s her ride to freedom.
Except one flat tire derails her trip. Her life collides with Brooks Cohen. They walked away from the first crash. The second might destroy them both.

ALL THE STARS
Full-hearted, uplifting, and passionate, Runaway Road is a deeply refreshing read that takes readers along on an unforgettable ride in which the true meaning of home is found.
Londyn McCormack is a runway, never truly having a home except for when she spent years living in a junkyard in California with five other teens. Running is at the very core of Londyn. Which is no surprise she decides to run from the “home” she’s built in Boston once her divorce is finalized. But Londyn’s plan is thwarted when she gets stuck in Summers, West Virginia.
Brooks Cohen is a gentleman without question. It was easy, very much so, to fall for a man of his character. He’s so genuine and a total sweetheart. Born and raised in Summers, Brooks has never left home. The owner of Cohen’s Garage, he’s the town’s mechanic and resident tow truck driver. From the moment he meets Londyn he’s enamored by her. She’s beautiful. Different. Tough. A wanderer just passing through…. And soon, she’ll be hitting that runaway road again.
Together, Londyn and Brooks were a fervor that existed. Sometimes that feeling was beating loudly, filling their moments together with laughs, smiles, and a sweet repartee. Other times it was soft and filled with a subtle angst that made every moment shared between them stretch and feel like forever.
From moments shared on the rock, in quiet and wishing on stars, the small air of suspense that did not overpower the plot, the sense of impending but bittersweet heartbreak that would soon follow Londyn’s departure of Summer, to everything the Cadillac symbolized–Runaway Road is so completely heartfelt.
Devney Perry declares this series a passion project that came about from her love of the Boxcar Children. A series that is, in fact, loosely tied to the author’s favorite childhood chapter books. Well, like Brooks and Londyn, “I feel it. Deep.” With every word, on every page, in every chapter her passion shines through crafting a story that did more than just warm my heart. She has left me enthusiastic and immensely intrigued about what the Runaway series will bring and where it will transport my fictitious mind… For wherever that cherry-red Cadillac goes, I will be ready to take another ride.
ALL THE STARS!
Omg you guys!! Runaway Road by Devney Perry is probably my favorite from her to date!! It was so wonderful. Just what my heart needed and it warmed my soul completely.
The story starts off with Londyn McCormack. She just went through a divorce and she decides to leave Boston behind her. She jumps into her cherry-red ’64 Cadillac convertible and hits the road. In search of herself as she makes her way to California to find an old friend.
Londyn has been running most of her life. But destiny or fate has other plans. She ends up stranded in Summers, West Virginia where she instantly falls for the small town, the people, and the sexy mechanic who towed her car after an unexpected accident.
Brooks Cohen is the epitome of the perfect gentleman. It was hard to not swoon over him. He’s transfixed by Londyn’s beauty and spirit. He can’t seem to shake these feelings and soon the more time they spend together the more deep things get.
Oh, the banter! It was so playful and sexy. Their love slowly bloomed while sharing dinners on a rock overlooking a lake. And let’s not forget those moments spent on his boat. But Londyn is a runner. Will she leave Brooks behind or will she finally find her permanent home?
“Don’t forget me,” I whispered. I’d been forgotten by too many people. I couldn’t bear the idea of Brooks forgetting me too. “I’ll remember you until the end , Londyn.” Brooks ran his knuckles along my cheek, leaving a trail of sparks on my skin. “Until the end.” I rose up and fused our mouths, giving him everything I had and trusting him with all my broken pieces.
All in all, Runaway Road was such a heartfelt, fast read with just the right amount of angst and a dash of suspense. You will not get enough of these characters. Everything about this series will captivate your heart. Also, get ready for Gemma’s story next!
It’s no secret that I love Devney’s beautiful stories and Runaway Road is not exception. She is the queen of emotional, small town romance and I just can’t get enough of her gorgeous words.
What a wondrous journey of self discovery, this story is. I wish I had the guts to do it, maybe I’d have found myself sooner.
“Now, I was running away to find peace. To find the life I needed deep in my soul. To find myself again. I’d lost me these past years.”
London McCormack packs her belongings in two suitcases and a duffle bag, gasses up her 1964 Red Cadillac DeVille Convertible, which she’s restored from a junkyard and was her old familiar home and bids goodbye to her old life with Thomas in Boston
“Just me and my cherry-red Cadillac. On a runaway road. ”
On the way to California, this road that she takes, brings her into a tiny place called summers in West Virginia, into the garage of Brooks Cohen. Call it fate, call it serendipity or call it chance encounter, the end sum of the sequence of events that precede is- they meet and fall and keep falling
There’s marked differences in their lifestyles and vocations.
He’s deeply rooted tree in his backyard, she’s a leaf fluttering in the wind
His tied to his ancestral home and job, she’s direction less except for a short term goal
He can’t leave and she can’t stay.
He has trouble saying yes, she has no trouble saying NO!!
“Maybe he would forget me. Maybe time would dull his memories or disease would steal them away. But I hoped this kiss would remain.”
Devney puts a Jinx on the budding connection right from the start.
“East is East and West is West.
Never the Twain shall meet”
Whoever wrote this had obviously not accounted for Fated Love, it’s power can move mountains, carve new path and force traveller’s to take the road less traveled, a.k.a NOT the Interstate!!
Devney is sensitive in her writing and she has treated this feel- good story with tenderness.
A whole lot of heart with serene moments make up this old-world gentlemanly-charm tale about Runaway life of a sixteen year old girl on the road to happiness ever after!
5 stars for Picnic on the rock!
Heartwarming!!
Londyn sets out on adventure, with just her car and the open road. She thought she was running away from something but maybe she was she running to something better. Runaway Road makes you want to jump into your car, crank the radio and drive off, looking for adventure.
The chemistry between Brooks and Londyn are what makes romance books so special. Their swoon-worthy encounters, the undeniable attraction. I love every minute of their journey. Devney Perry’s writing is some of my favorite. The way she brings these characters emotions to life through each chapter is so special. From the moment you meet Brooks and Londyn, you know this story is going to be one you wont want to put down.
Each character, the small town setting, the romance, family, and a women looking for a place to feel like she belongs, makes Runaway Road a story that you need to read! I’m so excited for even more love and adventure with The Runaway Series!

A heartwarming small town romance!!
Devney Perry kicks off a new series doing small town romance like only she does. It’s a heartwarming, unique take on a favorite theme. Devney never lets me down, and this one is no exception! <3
First in a brand new series from Devney Perry! Woo hoo!
This book is five HUGE oh my God, I need more stars!! The first in a new series, Runaway Road had me hooked from page one. I’m desperate for the next book!
GAHHHH, Just when I think I couldn’t love Devney Perry anymore, she gave me Runaway Road. What a fantastic start to this new series. It’s incredibly written and unputdownable! I absolutely loved the new setting. Of course, I might be a little partial to the state of WV. I’ve also taken more than a few road trips in classic cars. I swear it’s like she wrote this book for me. I’m not gonna say it’s my favorite book from her because they are all favorites. But I will say this one will be my most recommended for a while. It’s a classic romance story. It’s a heartwarming journey of finding a place that feels like home. Londyn and Brooks have the playful banter that I love reading, added with addicting magnetic chemistry toward one another. Watching their slow burn is what made this book impossible to put down. I’m also all about the little suspense added to the story. It wouldn’t be a Devney book without it. And if that doesn’t have you sold, Brooks is a single parent *Sigh* that’s another weakness of mine. So yes, it’s safe to say that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this beautiful story.
I am so happily hungover from this fantastic, feel-good tale. Devney Perry left me utterly gob-smacked by Londyn and Brooks’ love story in the best possible way. This story, oh this wonderful love story, was exactly what I wanted to read exactly at a time when I needed to read it. Perry has said that this series was inspired by her favorite childhood series, The Boxcar Children. I remember reading those stories myself, and obviously with some adult themes and a romantic spin, I totally got those vibes and loved it.
It seems like Londyn McCormack has been running nearly her whole life, and this story starts with her about to embark on a cross-country trek to out-run the latest disappointment in a life that, at her young age, is already full of them. Fate and a flat tire leave her stranded in Summers, West Virginia, and there she gets her first real taste of a sweet, idyllic life unlike anything she has ever known.
Brooks Cohen is the epitome of a southern gentleman. Throw in the fact that he is tall, jaw-droppingly handsome and kind, and this man had me swooning on the side of the road right along with Londyn. He’s a good man to his core. His life has been nothing like Londyn’s, but he passes no judgment on her and accepts her for all that she is. As impressed by her mettle as he is taken with her beauty, Brooks truly admires Londyn’s wanderlust spirit.
I loved these this couple so, so much. Their effortless banter, the delicious slow-burn tension between them, the mutual respect they had for each other were the sparks of an electrifying, soul-deep connection, and I simply couldn’t get enough of their interactions, their attraction, the lust and the longing. I don’t want to say much more about this story, except that it’s a completely original, one-of-a-kind, gorgeously told story full of all the best feels. I think readers should to go into Runaway Road not knowing much more than what is revealed in the blurb so they can experience the rush of emotions and the unfolding of this story organically.
Heart-warming, with just enough angst and a bit of suspense, Runaway Road had me glued to my Kindle as I devoured it in a single sitting. Cover to cover, this captivating, endearing and romantic love story did a number on my heart at it raced, ached, yearned or burned the whole way through. Devney Perry has outdone herself with what was clearly a labor of love, and readers are in for a treat with this addictively well written, thoroughly engrossing romance. Without question, this is a top favorite for the year, and I’m on the edge of my seat in anticipation of the next book in the series. Runaway Road gets five smooches from me!

With Runaway Road we got the first book of a brand series by one of my top favorite authors, Devney Perry –––> YAAAAY!
It’s definitely different ( at least for me ) from her previous books. Not in a bad way but if you’re looking for that typical suspense touch Devneys books have, you won‘t find it in this one.
I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOOOOVE Brooks. I believe she said it on Facebook, that Brooks is her favorite male character and I have to agree with that. Okay, I might say that after every book I‘ve finished by her, but seriously. Brooks is amazing.
For me it was an uncomplicated, quick, drama free story which I really enjoyed.
I‘m super excited to read Gemmas story next. While I couldn’t find a real connection to Londyn, I‘m very positive that I won’t have that issue with Gemma.
Runaway Road is the first book in a new series by Devney Perry.
Londyn McCormack’s parents were not your typical parents, fed up with their abuse; she ran away when she was sixteen to start a new life. Londyn and four of her homeless friends make do in a junkyard in California before setting their sites onto bigger and better areas. The four girls travel to Montana, where they stayed for a few months. Then Londyn and Gemma decided to travel on to Boston, where Londyn meets and marries her husband and Gemma becomes a real estate tycoon. All was well until it wasn’t and Londyn is ready to start over again. Runaway Road is Londyn’s journey to finding happiness, but what will she find in Summer West Virginia? I love the way Devney Perry takes on this trip from Boston to West Virginia with a little mystery and mayhem.
I’m looking forward to reading Gemma Lane’s story and her journey back to Montana!
Runway Road is the first book in The Runway Series by Devney Perry.
Loved it!! Like I always say; Devney Perry is an amazing storyteller. Amazing start to a new series. It’s going to be epic.
Londyn McCormack is leaving Boston behind.
Recently divorced, she leaves Boston in her Cadillac for a life of freedom.
Love Londyn very much. She’s a fighter, a survivor. Her life hasn’t been easy. But she worked hard to give herself the success she deserved.
Brooks Cohen is swoony. Love him.
He’s faithful, dedicated to his family and a gentleman. The attraction between Londyn and Brooks was instant.
This book gave me all the feels. Thank you Devney Perry for another amazing book.
I can’t wait for more of this series.
My Rating: STARS!
A good start to a new series!
I absolutely loved Brooks from the moment i met him.
He just had something about him that drew me into him straight away.
I really liked Londyn aswell! She was care free and quite refreshing, very easy to read and like too.
I loved the whole runaway side of things and we got to hear about her past and about the others, I’m looking forward to reading about the rest of the runaways.
Devney Perry has away of building up the story at the beginning so by the time you’ve hit half way you haven’t even realised, you just take in all this information like a sponge and just keep soaking more in the more you read.
Really easy read, lovely book to keep you entertained.
Perfect mix of heat and heart!
Get your road trip snacks and buckle up for this fun adventure!
Runaway Road is the amazing story of a strong woman making a fresh start in a small town. After a rough beginning in life, Londyn McCormack realized that a guided cage was much worse than living in a junkyard. A trip across country to find an old friend and return something valuable is cut short by a flat tire (and a man named Brooks); but that is where Londyn’s life really begins.
Awwww Londyn and Brooks are Amazing !!
I Loved their story.
Running away was always something Londyn did and now she was escaping from her broken marriage. When on the way to California, she lands in a smalltown when her car needs fixing and meets sexy gorgeous mechanic Brooks.
The attraction between them and the chemistry is clear between them and whilst waiting for her car to be fixed, they become friends and then lovers.
But staying in this small town was never in her escape plan, but falling in Love wasn’t either so could she leave Brooks without leaving her heart also.
This is such an entertaining read with a great intriguing plot, romantic and sexy and unputdownable.
I really Loved it.
I highly recommend it.
5 Stars.
