As a federal agent, spending a year running for his life felt like a nightmare from which Reed Monroe couldn’t wake. But with the notorious cartel on his tail for stealing their money as a DEA cybersecurity specialist, and his bosses believing he killed his partner to cover up his role as a mole, he didn’t have a choice. Running was the only option, at least until he proved he was innocent. … Someone was willing to do anything to stop him from digging up the truth. And that someone worked for the DEA. He just had to live long enough to prove it.
Skye Winters had buried her nose in mystery novels most her life, desperate to escape the monotony of sleepy Cascade Creek, Washington. Her most exciting time of day is imagining the adventurous backstories of customers that sit in her station at the Rock Road Diner. Including one handsome stranger looking for a job as a short-order cook. Every adventurous story he regales her with is as unlikely as the next. Until one fateful and shocking day involving the arrival of cartel assassins reveals his stories aren’t at all fictional. The adventure she craves stares her in the face, far more vivid and dangerous than she imagined. For the first time ever, her fictional novels can’t possibly live up to reality. But is it more than she’s willing to handle?
*This book ends on a semi-cliffhanger that is solved in book 2, Renegade.

WOW!!! Talk about oodles of action and excitement in every page. Reed has the worst day in his DEA history when his partner/mentor was murdered by cartel. Even worse is when his own people think HE was the one behind it. Thanks to a huge inside cover up he goes on the run. Will be manage to find who set him up? Was his partner dirty? Being alone with everyone after you is definitely not an easy thing to do. Nobody to turn to, not able to use his normal contacts, and always being on alert can tire anyone out. Things might be about to change when he finds a small town and talks himself into a line cook job. Now all he needs to do is a crash course YouTube course in cooking, and FAST . Plus it doesn’t hurt when there’s a pretty waitress to help take his mind off things. The pacing is great, tons of suspense, excitement, and romance. Be warned, there’s a whopper of a cliffhanger! I can’t wait for book two!
I received a free ARC copy in exchange for a honest review.
OMG! What a page turner. This book is the complete package with the sexy hero who’s on the run until he can find his partner’s murder, an apple pie baking sweetheart who has hidden trauma, and ruthless cartel assassins. This book starts on full throttle and picks up speed. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.
Reed and Skye start out sweetly getting to know each other. After the first kiss, this couple heat up the pages when they get together.
The story does have a happily ever after…sort of. The main story is wrapped up to a certain degree however not every problem has been solved. I finished this story and quickly downloaded the next one. I hope it is as good as this one, but with the writing style of Mia London and Susan Sheehey I am confident it will be.
Reed came to town with the intention of trying to lay low while trying to clear his name. Assuming the name Guy, he became a cook in the local diner. Skye was a waitress with a jaded view on guys from her ex. She had dropped out of college and moved back home and was taking online classes because of his physical abuse. Now she had fallen for this mysterious new guy and he reluctantly was falling for her. They had an exciting and intriguing run from the cartel and the authorities as they tried to clear his name from his false accusations. Good read with a cliffhanger

This is book one in the Cascade Mountain Manhunt series and it features small town waitress, Skye and DEA agent on the run, Reed. Their chemistry was sparking from the moment they met. He can’t get attached to ANYONE while on the run but what is he supposed to do if he thinks he’s met “the one”? Can she accept the lies he’s told her?
The writing was great except for Diego’s part of the story line. It seemed rushed and need more detail for such an important part. The characters were fantastic and the action was great! Just when we thought it was over, Reed’s story continues in the next book, Renegade.
I did know what to expect when I started reading this book. Once I did, I could not put it down. This book kept me on my toes and then some. She was the real deal for him. He knew it when he couldn’t leave her behind.

Runaway is action and intrigue from start to finish. Reed has been in hiding for a year from the DEA and the cartel. He finds himself in Cascade Creek where he meets Skye who loves reading thrillers and mysteries. Mia London and Susan Sheehey bring together a realistic and modern series of events that have Reed and Skye developing their relationship while depending on each other for survival. Runaway is an impressive start to the Cascade Mountain Manhunt series.
Holy moly! This book had it all. Gorgeous scenery, brooding hot guy, lovable heroine, apple pie and the drug cartel. This and it’s follow up, Renegade, are the perfect poolside reads for this summer.
Reed Monroe has been running for the last year. Finally, he feels he’s close to being able to clear his name for the murder of his partner. Everything is going as planned until he meets Skye Winters. The strong, independent woman makes him long for something he never he even thought he wanted. How can he give them the life they want with the danger following him at every turn? After shootouts and hideouts and finally looks like Reed can move on from his past, or can he? A great suspense with fantastic characters and mysteries abound in this first installment of the Cascade Mountain Manhunt Series.

I love this new series! Quite refreshing to have the her on the run & not a damsel in distress!
Reed loved being a DEA agent, working with his specialty of Cybercrime. But when a mission goes bad his partner dies and Reed is painted as the bad guy!
Now almost a year later he is still on the run but has found relative safety and obscurity in a small town in the Cascade Mountains. He’s learning on the fly to be a short order cook whilst still trying to uncover who killed his partner and set him up.
But life just got more complicated with his attraction to the perky, pretty and premier-suspense-reader Skye. She’s working as a waitress whilst finishing her degree at a local college. She tried big time college but after a nasty episode with her ex, small town life is much more her speed. She’ll get her excitement via her intense love for all books romantic suspense (a girl after my own heart!)
I fell in love with Reed aka Guy as even though Skye thinks he’s making up goofy stories to explain his presence in town, he really is a spy! He’s kinda been truthful with her even it’s in his best interest to keep quiet. Skye may think she is timid and quiet but give that girl a mission and she’s Bond Girl #1!
Great secondary characters within the diner and town in general, especially Skye’s bestie, who I’m hoping is the heroine in book 2! Bookworm Librarians needs HEA too!
