Can two people perpetually moving in opposite directions ever end up in the same place? Or will love just keep giving them the runaround?Webb Bryant is intimately acquainted with every type of trouble there is. Trouble is all he’s ever known and the only constant in his life.Webb’s a man constantly on the move. He’s a drifter. A wanderer. He bolts from one bad choice to the next, never able to … next, never able to put enough distance between himself and the ghosts from his past. He lives hard and fast, until everything comes to a screeching halt the moment he lays eyes on Tennyson McKenna. The stunning woman appeared out of nowhere to save the day, and Webb’s been unable to forget her. The leggy, blonde forest ranger might very well be the one person in the world important enough to finally keep him in one place. Only, Ten isn’t impressed by Webb’s knack for finding trouble. And no matter how hard he tries to shake it, he can’t escape his bad habit of falling into the deep end of questionable decisions. When his newest brush with trouble gets Webb in way over his head, Ten jumps after him into the dangerous waters. It’s possible they’re going to sink so fast they both might drown.
Tennyson McKenna makes it a point to be diligently cautious in all aspects of her life. She learned the hard way that leading with your heart instead of your head gets you nowhere.
Ten’s a woman stuck in a frustrating rut. After a string of failed relationships lands her back home, a pit stop to mend her broken heart becomes a hole she’s lost the will to dig herself out of. Coasting through her days was easy until Webb Bryant crash-landed in her path, complete with bullets, blood, and a grin far too charming for his own good. Webb is anything but safe and predictable. He’s everything Ten swore she would never gamble on again, but it’s impossible to ignore the way trouble follows him around like a shadow. And every single time Ten pushes Webb away, she finds herself chasing after him before he’s gone for good. When Webb’s past finally catches up to him, Ten has to decide if she’s brave enough to put her heart on the line for a man who might be gone tomorrow.

5 stars of course. Not only is Jay my favorite author, her words are my favorite escape from reality. She has done it again with this book, as all the others shes written, and captured my soul from the first chapter. I love that I can always tell Jay’s words apart from any other author, because you can just feel the passion between the lines of her stories. Webb and Ten was a book we all hoped would happen, and because she loves her readers, she gave it to us. And man was it good. The chemistry and story between these two is hot, messy, and difficult but it is so good. Jay always manages to capture my attention with her words and the way she lays them down. I certainly hope we get to read more about the other Bryant brother soon (: Wyatt deserves it. Thank you again Jay for the amazing read, I look forward to the next as always
Jay writes such human characters. What a great story
This is a great book that sucks you in from the first page and doesn’t left you go until you finished. This is Webb’s story how he puts his demons to rest, learns his worth and finds love.
Runaround is one of those books that I’ve been waiting for. When we met Tennyson McKenna in previous books in the Getaway series, I was always intrigued and I had a feeling there was a lot more “soft”under the tough exterior that Ten always showed to the world. I’m so glad that Jay Crownover chose to give us her story, along with that of Webb Bryant, the drifter who hasn’t found a way to stay in one place for an extended period of time.
Webb seems to attract trouble. Whether he wants to or not, that seems to be what always happens. He and his brother Wyatt have been all the other has for most of their life after their mother all but left them to fend for themselves. Webb had to do things he isn’t proud of to stay out of trouble, yet it always seems to find him anyway. When trouble once again finds him out of nowhere, he is not only left to prove to Ten, the woman who might just be the thing to keep him in one place, and to the law that he isn’t guilty of doing what they have accused him of.
As they say, Ten is married to her work. She hasn’t been lucky in love since her first love fell in love with another woman and the man she was engaged to wanted to turn her into someone she isn’t. With all that in mind, she swore off love and relationships. When Webb ends up in trouble, Ten finds herself face to face with that ex-fiance who seems hellbent on doing anything he can to see Webb end up behind bars. Utilizing skills from her previous job, Ten is all in to help prove that Webb is the man she believes he is.
The love story of Ten and Webb certainly did not disappoint. Not only did these two strong willed people fight the feelings they were feeling, they also had to fight outside forces to end up where they really wanted to be – together. Jay Crownover has such a way of crafting a story which makes you feel as though you are right in the middle of it all. I feel for the characters; when they hurt, when they love and when they triumph. This was an amazing addition to the series and I would highly recommend not only this one, but the first three as well!
For someone always getting into trouble, Webb manages to do so again. This time Ten’s got his back and opens his eyes to a new world where someone other than his brother is there to support him. It was great getting to revisit the Warner Ranch and follow Webb and Tennyson’s love story.
I absolutely love this whole series but Webb and Ten have a special place in my heart. I love the twists and turns in their story and the way that they finally find each other…completing each other in a way no one else can! (Also…Wyatt!!! ) So glad to be able to read this story!
I always knew by the time it got to Webb and Ten it would be firey….this didnt dissapoint one bit loved it so much and oh my that ending makes me excited for things to come
The cliffhanger at the end of Escape has been resolved! And in spectacular fashion! This book was a wild ride from start to finish with surprises around every corner. The twists and turns make this book impossible to put down!
I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. The end was the best part for me as I hope it sets up something else to come. I also appreciated the glimpse into Jay’s next series.
Wish I could give more than five stars!!!!!!!!!
Another amazing book by the incredible Jay Crownover! Runaround was the fourth book in the Getaway series but can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend the entire series. I loved Webb and Ten and could not get of enough of their story.
What happens when two people who are on opposites sides of the law are attracted to each other? Runaround does a great job of looking at this. Will love conquer their differences? I couldn’t wait to read this book. I’ve loved thsi series from the start and was so happy to hear there would be a book for Ten and Webb. They’ve been interesting players in the previous books and it was great to see that they got their own story.
Trouble follows Webb around like it’s his best friend, but he wants to start over and the Warner ranch is a good place to try out a new and better life. But like the proverbial bad boy, trouble soon finds him and he’s accused of breaking the law.
Tennyson, Ten for short, has been attracted to Webb from the start and his leaving was just what she needed to get him out of her mind. When he ends up back at the ranch, he’s just too close and she’s too tempted. But when he’s accused of crimes he says he didn’t commit, she lets her guard down and decides to trust him, even though it could end badly for everyone.
I just really loved this story and really, all the books in this series brought something good to this reader. I loved the romance and I loved the suspense and Jay Crownover is a master at writing a bad boy for the reader to fall in love with. Runaround tied up some loose ends and still left me wanting more.
Runaround can be read as a standalone, but you’ll enjoy it more if you get to know the Warner brothers first. I highly recommend this romantic suspense series.
An ARC was provided for review.
Love this series, love this book!!!! A must read across the board
Webb’s been waiting searching for something or someone all these years but the for the first time he saw Ten he wanted to stand still. He knew she was going to be someone special in his life. He’s always had one foot out the door due to the way that he had to grow up. The closer the two become trying to find out what is going on and to clear Webb’s name they both open their hearts but when push comes to shove will Webb walk away once again? Will Ten’s heart take another beating?
Webb had to go but Ten felt that he should stay and she put him in between a rock and a hard place. Ten didn’t realize exactly what she had did until it was pointed out to her.
Will they realize what they have before it’s too late for them? Will they both open their hearts all of the way and let the other all the way in?
There’s secrets unveiled, love that enfolds in this book. I want to see what happens with Wyatt!
I’ve been patiently waiting for Webb and Ten’s story (who am I kidding, I’m permanently impatiently waiting for everything Jay Crownover). Never really cliffhangers, but always a ‘left wanting the next hero right now’ kind of stories. All her leading men are heroes in their own way. And Webb Bryant is no different, in fact he exceeds all expectations, he sets his heart on Tennyson McKenna and he goes all in, no holding back, and do you know what? It makes him sexy as hell. Then we have Ten, a strong independent woman who’s been let down badly before, so much so, that she won’t take any more sh!t. This makes her seems a little bit standoffish and harsh. Good job that Webb’s in it for the long haul. He’s willing to peel away all her layers, one by one. Can they find the person responsible for framing Webb without anyone dear to them getting killed? Together they’re doing their best. Wonderful characters and wonderful writing. Suspense, action and romance with a few surprises along the way. Loved loved loved.
After the jaw-dropping conclusion to the previous book in this series, a conclusion that saw Webb Bryant taken away in handcuffs, I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what the outcome of that moment would be. I didn’t have to wait long as from the very first page of this fourth installment readers are dropped right into the middle of Webb’s latest case of bad luck. There’s an individual going around the country robbing banks…and he looks exactly like Webb. It’s a shocking reveal that takes Webb, and readers, on a journey back into Webb’s childhood of struggle and strife. It’s a heartbreaking journey that gave him insight into his mother’s even more uncaring nature, the identity of his father, as well as the discovery of a long lost brother. The reveal endeared Webb to me even more for all he survived and his ability to still become the kind and caring man he is today. The journey Webb undertakes is one full of twists and turns that brings him even closer to the one woman to capture his attention and it had me rooting for them every step of the way.
Webb Bryant grew up with very little. It was just him and his older brother Wyatt against the world which had them forming an unbreakable bond still there today, a bond that has them very protective of each other. With their mother turning her back on parenting, the two of them did whatever necessary to survive. For Webb especially his choices usually ended up with him in trouble. His charm though often got him through any trouble, particularly when it came to women, and it’s left a long line of women in his past. His mother’s uncaring attitude left him leery of love and HEA, but the moment he stepped foot in a small town it quickly started feeling like home and gave him hope as he saw those around him find their own HEAs. The moment he laid eyes on Tennyson he saw his future, he saw someone challenging him to be a better man, and their interactions warmed my heart as he deserved to finally find someone loving him for himself. Webb’s a sweet and sexy man who’s overcome a lot in his life. He makes no excuses for his past as those choices made him who he is today. Behind a snarky and flirty facade is a caring and kind-hearted man who says and does just what you want your book boyfriend to say and I found him to be delicious.
Tennyson McKenna’s always been a bit restless, not only when it comes to her career but also when it comes to her love life. She’s been unlucky in love needless to say as her first love saw her mostly as a friend, while her last love wanted only to change her. Meeting Webb sets her mind and body aflutter, confusing her with the emotions he incites within her. She makes assumptions about him early on, due to his lengthy rap sheet and to his being younger than her, but the more time they spend together the more she discovers about him that has her falling for him. Ten’s a strong-willed heroine, methodical when it comes to investigations and quick to protect those she cares about. She doesn’t take kindly to being coddled, and has a tough time accepting help and affection, but I enjoyed seeing her softer side when Webb shows he cares. When dealing with her ex-boyfriend, the FBI agent looking to send Webb to jail, I especially enjoyed her fiery defense of Webb that put her ex in his place. Though she sometimes had trouble expressing her feelings for Webb, it’s moments like this that spoke louder than words and had me cheering them on throughout their journey into his past.
Ms. Crownover has crafted yet another delightful read that beautifully balanced romance and suspense in an older woman/younger man romance full of heartache and joy. Webb and Ten are an immensely appealing couple, stronger together than apart as their love empowered both of them. Their connection is a crackling one full of sexual tension and scorching encounters that built through the previous books in this series to culminate here in richly rewarding scenes full of heart and soul. Surrounding this unforgettable main couple were glimpses of equally intriguing secondary characters. The characters that stood out the most were the long lost brother whose anger creates all sorts of new chaos, Webb’s supportive and protective brother Wyatt, as well as a sexy small town sheriff still looking for his own HEA. Wyatt especially has me longing to know more about him. His mother’s rage over his homosexuality caused heartbreak for him when he was young and has him leery of love now too. He’s a workaholic who deserves a HEA and I hope Ms. Crownover lets him take center stage soon. From the first page to the last this is a story that grabs you and doesn’t let go and it’s one I recommend wholeheartedly!
Jay outdid herself yet again! This is a must read series.
I couldn’t put this book down I needed to know what was going to happen
I would really like to hug Jay for writing this book. The entire series actually. I’ve loved them all and could hardly wait to get Webb and Ten’s story. There’s cowboys and cops, tough, sassy ladies, danger, suspense, heat, love…. it’s all in here!
Runaround by Jay Crownover is the 4th book in the Getaway series.
It is a standalone but in true Crownover magic, Jay gives her readers little nuggets of gold wrapped up in visits from past and future characters and always leaving her readers with wanting more.
Ten and Webb’s story was long awaited and filled all my expectations.
The chemistry between these two is electrifying and the romance plus action and suspense is intriguing and page turning.
