What a sweet contemporary sports romance! Tucker is a member of the Texas Tornadoes who broke one of the team’s rules of conduct and finds himself doing community service at a community center that has fallen on hard times. Shelby, the director of the center, is desperately trying to find funding to pay the bills and give Christmas gifts to the children that use the after school programs.
When Tucker and Shelby meet, both are guilty of making judgments about the other. While Tucker is trying to gain control of his anger issues, Shelby is trying to hang on to her belief that God will provide the finances to keep the community center open. As he spends more time with the kids, Tucker sees the important role that the center plays in the community. But issues arise that test both Tucker and Shelby when Tucker’s past impacts the community center negatively.
The auther uses this book to bring awareness of God’s infinite power and His ability to help individuals overcome obstacles, without using a sledgehammer to make her point. She delivers the HEA ending, leaving the reader with a smile and a belief in the inherent goodness of humanity.
This story is amazing just like its’ author.
The emotions it provokes and the Christian theme that runs throughout the story makes it of my favorite reads.
The characters are incredible and so real to life.
The plot is wonderful and makes you stop and think.
This is definitely a 5-star.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I also purchased a copy.
I wish that I could give this sweet, charming story more than 5 stars. It was an endearing story of forgiveness. The solid foundation of this story is a Christian faith base. There is a lot of truth within this story. Tucker Jackson was traded from the team that he really wanted to be on the Rebels to the Tornados. The team loses a game that just set Tucker to a bar for one drink. Unfortunately a man recognizes him and picks a fight with him because he had a lot of money riding on the game. Tucker defends himself but his anger takes over and he has to be pulled off the man. Tucker’s father basically abandoned his children when his wife died. When Tucker calls his father for help, instead his father calls the coach and the coach sends the quarterback, Blaine. Blaine sends Tucker to the local community center to serve 20 hours of community service. There Tucker means the director, Shelby Doll. Shelby has a beautiful soul. She helps Tucker in many ways.
The plot of this story was a great one that flowed beautifully. I hated at times to put my e-reader down but sometimes dinner for the family is essential. This story is written in my favorite dual POV. Getting into Tucker’s mind really helped me to understand where he was coming from.
Tucker was an angry, embittered man with a hair-fingered trigger on my temper. Shelby was a beautiful Christian soul that helped Tucker. She at times though wasn’t following her own advise and worried about the lack of funds, donors and membership of the center instead of praying and turning over her worries.
This is a very sweet, clean Christian romance. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone. There were some great passages within this story that are very enlightening.
What started out as community service after an arrest over an angry brawl at a bar, became so much more to running back Tucker Jackson after he spent time with the underprivileged kids and manager Shelby at the community center. I didn’t like him at first. He was so angry and acted like he didn’t deserve his punishment of community service. Also, he was all about looks, checking out Shelby’s assistant Kenzi and commenting on the attractiveness of reporter Sylvie Sanders. The community center is on the verge of closing and his previous actions may cause them to lose donors and members. There was a heavy religious influence in this book which talks a lot about praying and often uses the phrase God will provide as one bad thing after another happens to Shelby’s center.
This was a sweet, clean, Christian romance and I enjoyed it very much. I identified so much with Shelby as a person. I love that she was able to help Tucker with his anger and point him to God. It honestly couldn’t have ended better than it did.
Tucker Jackson is a running back for the Texas Tornadoes and he has an attitude and a lot of anger. When he gets into a fight at a local bar, even though he didn’t start it, he is required to completed 20 hours of community service at a local community center. He is less than thrilled but determine to do what he needs to so he doesn’t get cut or traded.
Shelby Doll is the manager of the community center. She will do whatever she needs to to make sure she saves the community center from being closed. When Tucker shows up at her door, she at first believes he is a spoiled rich athlete who doesn’t get why the center is so important to the youth who come there. But, as she spends more time with him, she sees that he is a man who was broken as a child when his mom died and he needs the center and kids, just as much as she does.
This is a clean romantic story about love, forgiveness and healing. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.
In Run With My Heart the hero is a football player, but this book is not really about football. It is about giving your fears and anger to God. That is when things get better, the lost are found and sometimes romance comes your way. Tucker ended up with so much more than he expected after he started doing community service at a community center that might have to close due to lack of funding. Lorana Hoopes delivers another extremely satisfying, sweet, clean, heart warming romance with great characters. I could not put it down.
Run with my Heart is a sports romance that I thoroughly enjoyed reading, and I don’t care for sports. Shelby and Tucker are likable, but fallible characters. They changed through prayer, their relationship, and the kids at the center to become the kind of people that I could admire and enjoy being friends with. The kids at the center are endearing, and add depth to the main characters as well as to the story itself. The plot had some twists and moves at a good pace. I like Lorana Hoopes’ writing style and highly recommend her. If you haven’t had the pleasure of reading her books, you’re missing out. I received a complimentary copy. I chose to write a review and share my opinion of this great romance.
Another really good romance from Ms. Hoopes. Who doesn’t love a romance involving a football player with anger issues & family issues, kids from a community center and a woman that doesn’t want the center to close due to lack of funding? The path to romance is very interesting and God is around to help you find it. Lovely Christian romance!
This book will make you think as you read it. I enjoyed the powerful story of turning one’s anger over to God and for the power of forgiveness too. Tucker was such an interesting character. He was a professional football player, who has been angry ever since his mom died when he was in high school. He is angry that his dad turned to work for his grief and abandoned being there for Tucker and his little sister. His dad has never even been to one of his football games.
That anger has led him down a path he cannot seem to change until he meets Shelby, who manages a community center for children. Shelby, the children at the center, and God seem to change Tucker’s outlook on life. It is a great story and a great romance. I really enjoyed watching Tucker grow and turn into a better person and a better man that even he could be proud of. I also liked the ending to the book. I look forward to reading more books n this series. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
I enjoyed watching the transformation of the characters in this romantic and heartwarming story. Shelby, a beautiful but often unnoticed young woman comes into her own, and Tucker, a troubled young man finds out what’s important in life. A center full of disadvantaged youth, and football, set the scene for the changes brought about by love and kindness.
Tucker has some issues and now he needs to do some hours community service. When Shelby asks help for her center Tucker shows up and she isn`t very happy with him first until he shows his caring side. Can something beautiful grow between these very different people?
This is a great Christian story that will warm your heart.
What is it about pro athletes and underprivileged kids and tug at my heartstrings? This story really touched me and I read it so fast that when the last page came up, I said, “NOOOO”!!!! I wanted it to keep going! Tucker lost his mother when he was young and his father pretty much checked out, diving deep into his work. It was no wonder that Tucker, as an adult, has anger issues and when things happen in his life, he has a hard time dealing with them. So, when he gets caught in a bar fight, he is “sentenced” to community service at the community center, working with kids. He is not a fan at all of this assignment! Shelby, the director, needs funds for the center to stay open and she immediately does not like Tucker’s attitude but no one is more surprised than she when Tucker begins to bond with the kids. I enjoyed both Tucker and Shelby’s characters. They both needed to change in different ways and I liked the way the author had them go through realistic experiences to move those changes along! A great holiday story!
So many emotions during this story, choices, faith, forgiveness, self doubt, worthlessness, different, loved, friendship and so much more!
I worked at a place just like the community center Shelby, I was Program Manager, I could relate to so many of her thoughts, concerns, and love for the chillins!
I loved Tucker’s words when he told those at the Christmas party, you might not be able to help financially like I can, but there are so many ways to help, volunteer your time etc. Perfect!!
In my opinion Lorana has scored a touchdown. I am so impressed with the imagery she created with her words. I liked seeing the problems like anger, insecurities, bullying, etc. that the characters were faced with and the way they solved or overcame the issues by facing them, by praying and relying on God. I also liked the way the romance developed between Tucker and Shelby, slow and sweet with a HEA.
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Wow, really a great story. Tucker has a few issues he has to overcome. Shelby must often remind herself to leave her worries in God’s hands. Great characters.
I received a free copy of this book and this is my voluntary, honest review.
Run With My Heart is a delightful
& moving romance.
Tucker, feels loss. Nothing stays
the same. His life or the team he plays on. After lossing his mother,
his family had never been the same.
After an altercation with a drunk,
Tucker was given community service.
Shelby, is heartsick over her beloved
Community Center. She has to do something or the doors will close.
It’s an important place for kids to
come to. What Shelby needs now
is a Christmas miracle.
I enjoyed this must read Christmas Romance!!
Another EXCELLENT book from Lorana Hoopes! She never disappoints! Loved the storyline and characters! A definite MUST ADD TO YOUR TBR LIST!!
Tucker and Shelby this story is the journey of Tucker Jackson from angry young man to the happiest man in the room.
He is a football player who has a hairpin trigger on his anger. Losing a game set in motion consequences that at first glance could ruin his future. What did happen was life changing for both Tucker and Shelby.
Read this story for a peak into the life of a professional football player and how his life is changed by a plain girl who works at the local community center for kids.
I just finished reading Lorana Hoopes newest book, Run With My Heart. It’s very good, but I did not think that when I first started it. I thought “Oh no, not another sports book”. Boy was I wrong; this book is so much more than that. This is a football romance that is more about personal growth, learning to trust God to overcome our emotional feelings, and finding healing in place that you never wanted to be. The characters are well developed and very human. In the beginning, I didn’t like Tucker. He wasn’t a very nice person, blaming everyone else for his problems. Fortunately, he began to make changes and the story took off. Then I couldn’t read the book fast enough. The story touched my heart and I recommend Run With My Heart to anyone who enjoys reading books that are clean, uplifting romances with an HEA ending.
