Love this book. It deals with anger issues, judging people, and forgiveness. You have a football player who has a big chip on his shoulder from childhood and has never come to terms with what happened. Can he find God can handle the load for him? Such a wonderful book. Great for all ages to read with a powerful lesson. You can’t go wrong with this book.

On the surface, it looks like Tucker Jackson has everything going for him. But looks can be deceiving. All the fame, fortune and glory can’t make up for loss… loss of a father’s love, loss of mother, loss of family. When his mother died, everything changed in Tucker’s life. His dad withdrew, became a workaholic and flaunted money around like it was candy. Tucker was a talented football player, very talented, but never really felt it. Why? He never knew if he earned his place on the teams or if dad bought his success through ‘donations’. After all, according to dad, image was everything…. and money could buy it. Is it any wonder Tucker is full of anger, bitterness and self-doubt? .
Shelby Doll… always the good girl, always the girl with a heart of gold, always the girl who puts others ahead of her. But now, all that selflessness and all those good deeds, can’t save the one thing that is near and dear to her. Her beloved community center for down trodden youth in the area has run out of money. They’ve gotten by on a bare bones, skeleton budget but it’s not enough.
Shelby needs a miracle. And it seems like Tucker just may be heaven sent, even though he doesn’t know it…. and neither does Shelby. In fact, it seems just the opposite. Ahhhh, at first, they sort of get off on the wrong foot.
Tucker…. deep hidden insecurities and losses that show up as anger, lots of anger.
Shelby … loving but afraid of love, and needs it even though she won’t allow herself to know it, let alone feel it.
Well now, miracles do happen and Tucker and Shelby are just about to have their lives rearranged … So sit back, grab some popcorn and enjoy ‘watching’ just how G_d works through mysterious ways.
Lorana Hoopes draws you into this storyline by tugging on the heart strings, while proving love always wins when you open your heart and let G_d lead the way.
I’ve yet to read a book by this author that I didn’t like. When offered an advance copy to read and review, I gladly accepted the opportunity.
Tucker’s story helped me realize what is happening in my life and in my children’s lives. Shelby is the type of person we should all aspire to be. The community center in any town can be of more help than many realize, if staffed by caring, faith-filled people who truly see each child as an individual with individual life stories, experiences, and needs. I read this book in about 36 hours. It was a page-turner for me, and I am anxious to read the other books in the series.
What a fun book to listen to. I enjoyed watching the changes in both Tucker and Shelby as they helped one another see the value they each had. Humor offset some of the more serious parts as the characters interacted with the kids. And then the way real life seemed to interfere with the connection and trust between Tucker and Shelby and they both had to learn to give things to God. The story also addressed the issue of places of ministry like the community center that in reality do exist. I’m a push-over when it comes to Ms. Hoopes’ books. She never fails to keep me involved and hold me to the end.
The narration is again superb. Ms. Hoopes really knows how to express each character.
I requested this audio book from Audiobooks Unleashed and have voluntarily left this review.
This was an intriguing and fun book. I highly recommend it
he is a football star and his team is good. She is a girl who wants to be herself and not fall into anything too bad. They have sparks that fly but they keep it on the down low. He uses his status too much
I enjoyed reading this book with the well-developed characters and the story line. It was very easy to relate to the characters and a great story
This is a sweet, clean Christian romance. However, don’t be out off by the Christian part, it isn’t preachy, just faith based. Tucker has anger issues to overcome and because of those, he gets assigned community service. There he meets Shelby the director. Eventually feelings develop between them. Tucker is able to use his status as a pro football player to help the youth community center raise the funds they need to remain open so youth without another place to go can gather. This is a good read that deals with over coming anger, forgiveness, family relationships, etc.
A sweet story of how a kind hearted woman and children can change a hard hearted man. I love it when a man redeems himself. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Run With My Heart by Lorana Hoopes
I started this audiobook and didn’t want to turn it off. I don’t like football – at all! Let me just get that out of the way first. You do not have to be a football fan to enjoy this book.
Tucker was not fitting in with his new team after being traded. He had anger issues and they led him to a bar fight. This error in judgment was followed by a requirement to do community service at a local community center.
Tucker learns forgiveness, love, redemption, healing and a sense of community that he has never felt before. And did I say love with the beautiful director?
This well written book emphasizes how anger, bitterness, and holding on to grudges can cause so much heartache and hurt in our lives. With wonderful storytelling and realistic characters, the author shares a reminder of how God can take any situation and turn it into something beautiful and worthwhile. Recommend this inspiring sweet romance.
I received a free copy of this book and have chosen to give my honest opinion.
Tempers flare and Tucker has to pay the price. He never thought that having to ‘volunteer’ at the local community center would be anything but troublesome. He was not looking forward to it at all. But knowing he wanted to play in the big game, he had no choice in the matter.
The director at the community center helps him overcome many things and then a child in a wheelchair really makes a difference.
Great story of forgiveness and love in this book.
I totally loved this sweet Christmas sport Romance! Shelby and Tucker were fantastic characters. I loved the community center where children could gather after school. Many times these centers fall into disrepair because of lack of funds. Can Shelby save the center from closure? Can Tucker overcome anger issues? What will happen to Tucker’s place on the team? Can Tucker forgive his father for the lack of support at his games? Can Shelby and Tucker work together? What about Christmas miracles and Romance? Find out in this fabulous story! I highly recommend it! Happy Reading!
Run with My Heart
A Texas Tornadoes Christmas Romance, Book 3
By: Lorana Hoopes
Narrated by: Lorana Hoopes
It’s a skill to teach and entertain without realizing you are being taught and Lorana Hoopes has it in spades. This book has so many little lessons, all leading to the big one and I heard them all while I was falling for Tucker and Shelby. Tucker is a professional football player with an anger problem. When he goes to far, he is forced to do community service in a local center. Here he meets Shelby, and learns there is more to life than just him. Her faith is strong, and she loves her job. But will it be enough to help Tucker find his way? I love this book! The sports romance is a big draw for me, the unmistakable draw to helping others, and the finding of faith to help you through are just a few things that kept me enthralled. Hoopes narrates the story perfectly, letting us feel all the emotions. A great start to this series and I can’t wait to see what else is coming.

I have read and/or listened to a few books by this author and this one is by far my favorite.
This clean, Christian romance, centers around Tucker Jackson and Shelby Doll.
Tucker is a football player with an attitude and anger issues. When he gets in trouble in a bar, his team sends him to do community service.
Shelby runs the local community center. One in dire need to money and upgrades. But the funds are dwindling and when Tucker comes to do his service hours, she sees this as possible solution to her problem by offering a clinic lead by him.
As we get to meet these two, we realize that Tucker’s issues stem from the loss of his mother at a young age, and a father that became absent. A reminder that our experiences as a child do in fact affect us as adults.
This touching story is well worth your time.
I loved this story by Lorana Hoopes!
There’s so much to learn from it, it’s not a merely sweet romance with a HEA.
It’s a story that deals with real issues and struggles. Like Tucker’s, his mother died when he was young and his father threw himself into his work to evade the grief. Tucker grew with resentment toward his father, and even though he excelled at football and got himself (or by his father’s connections) a place in a good team, he’s now having issues with controlling his anger and bitterness. And although he didn’t start it, after being in a brawl in a bar, he’s punished by his captain by doing community service, so he can learn from others and quell his ire.
So that’s how he connects with Shelby, who has a great passion for kids in need, and runs a community center who is fast running short in funds. Tucker, the pro football player is the answer to Shelby’s prayers. Or is he?
I really loved the story! Tucker has so much to learn, and there’s so much character growth throughout the story. With Shelby’s help, he grows close to God and discovers many things about himself, about the need for self forgiveness in order to forgive others. And he even discovers he never really new what was going on in his father’s heart, he just judged him. The community center and the kids are a source of great lessons. And Shelby has her own struggles too, dealing with too much worry and wanting total control, and never trusting God completely in the direction her life has to take, and trusting that God knows more and better and his outcome is so much better than the outcome we are expecting or praying for, if we’re patient and wait.
The characters felt very relatable and endearing too. The romance was so sweet, nothing dashing, but slowly growing.
I think this is a deep story that can touch a heart and shake it a bit toward the light.
I definitely recommend it!
I enjoyed reading about Tucker in this cute story! I liked how he decided to change when he recognized the need and had the desire. There are good characters with good hearts and strong faith. The love story is sweet and clean and the ending is perfect.
I received a complimentary copy of the book. All opinions are my own and are expressed voluntarily.
Great Christian themed novella! This book is a good story about a football player with a temper that needs to be toned down. As a way to help his attitude he is told he must serve the community for 20 hours. He is assigned to a center for children and asked to teach them and show them the ropes of football. He is not immediately convinced this is what he wants to do until he spots cute Kenzi and that changes his point of view a bit.
Shelby is the manager of the center which is quickly losing children to attend to a more attractive sounding place not too far away. She is struggling how to fix up the center and attract new clientele without much luck until she sees a possibility with a football player, Tucker. Skeptical because he is there to serve his community service, she is at first not very impressed.
The story is one of love of others, sharing of time and talents and it has a great storyline. It’s a very enjoyable read and luckily is the first of a new series called Texas Tornados, Tucker’s team. Can’t wait to see what happens next!
I received an ebook from the author. All thoughts are my own.
This story is so good. We meet Shelby and finally get to see Tucker find love and learn to control his anger. I read this story in 2 sittings and enjoyed every minute. The other characters of the story were wonder too. I especially loved little Benji. I recommend ‘Run with My Heart’ to everyone that loves clean stories that inspire you to be better.
A football running back with anger issues, meets someone special!
Tucker Jackson is frustrated at the end of the football game, when his team loses by a few points, again. He heads to a bar, where he gets one beer, hoping his disguise will protect him. Then a drunk “fan” comes up to him, and goads him about losing the game, then rushes at Tucker, who tries to protect himself. It still could cost him playing the next game, and sends him to do community service.
After meeting with Shelby Doll, who is in charge of the center, they begin plans for a football clinic for the children, plus he can help with things before and after that, since school will be out for Christmas. It’s a wonderful story, and Lorana Hoopes does a terrific job of keeping you reading to the end. I highly recommend this book!
