He’s a broken man searching through the past for answers. She’s his childhood best friend he had no idea he was in love with.Thomas Capshaw never thought he’d put his dreams of being a sketch artist on the back burner and end up working in New York City far from home. Run to the Sea (Reigning Hearts Book 1)
By: K.G. Fletcher
5 out of 5 stars
The story Run to the Sea (Reigning Hearts Book 1) by K.G. Fletcher is a contemporary romance book. It is a story that I absolutely loved reading. It is romantic and had my emotions going up and down. It has a wonderful storyline that pulls you in from the very beginning and doesn’t let go until the final page. I loved reading about the characters of Thomas Capshaw and Emeline Fischer. Thomas is a man that is feeling guilt and remorse. He finds himself back on the sandy shores of Florida where he spent his childhood. While his inheritance has brought him back to town, he finds himself unprepared when he meets Emeline again. Emeline is a woman who is talented, beautiful, and trying to make ends meet. She is surprised when she finds Thomas at the restaurant where she is working. These two were best friends when growing up. These two find themselves looking at their past through a box of photos. What else will they find? What is in store for Emeline and Thomas? Read this book to find out. Emeline and Thomas are characters that I grew to care about with each chapter that I read. You can’t help but hope that they find happiness. This book has heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. This is a beautiful story which touches your heart and soul. I highly recommend reading it.
Childhood Reunion
4.5 stars – Such a sweet and poignant story. Once childhood best friends, Thomas (Cappy) and Emmaline lost touch when he went off to college. Each had things that arose during their years apart that they had to work past – one trauma, the other regret. My heart broke several times throughout the book before it soared with the steamy union of these fated souls.
This is the first time I’ve read or listened to a book from KG Fletcher but it won’t be the last. The only thing I didn’t like was what Fiona got away with but the author did keep her true to character as she was beyond self-centered.
As I’ve alluded to, I listened to this book. (Thanks Kelly for the free copy!) The narrator is the author. I think she was great as Emmaline and I’ll give her props for Fiona, Rusty, and other characters but a male narrator for Thomas would’ve been preferred. Of course, that’s always my preference, especially when there are dual POVs.
Story: 4.5 stars
Narration: 4 stars
This is book 1 in Fletcher’s new series Reigning Hearts. A beautiful romance listen of second chances. Our main characters are Tom (Capy) and Emeline (Em) who were inseparable as children gowning up but time and distance have broken their bond. With current circumstances Tom has returned to his childhood town and reconnected with Em and realizes that their bond as children is even stronger now that they are adults but there are other forces at work – some good and some not so good. A well written romance with great characters (loved Em’s bestie Ginger) and smooth flowing storyline that was easy to follow and enjoy. Looking forward to listening to the next in this series.

Run to the Sea is such a touching story. I went through the full range of emotions… I strongly disliked one particular character, and loved others, there were times of terrible sadness and extreme joy. I know this story will stick with me.
K.G. Fletcher is so talented. She writes with such feeling and her story is so real. She also did an amazing job with the narration. I felt as if I was witnessing everything play out firsthand.

Run to the Sea is the first book in the first book in the Reigning Hearts series by K.G. Fletcher. It is a contemporary romance that is wonderfully written with characters that really put you on an emotional roller coaster. Thomas Capshaw and Emiline Fisher were childhood friends who lost touch. When Thomas comes back to town to settle his grandfathers affairs, he and Em rekindle there friendship which might turn into something more. This book had me laughing, crying and wanting to throw my kindle on the ground. This to me makes a great book. I can’t wait to read/listen to the next book in this series. K.G. Is one of my must read authors. I highly recommend this book.
Run To The Sea is the first book in K.G. Fletcher’s Reigning Hearts series. A fantastic start to the Reigning Hearts series. This novel is based in a sleepy Florida seaside town. I enjoyed from beginning to end. She has a writing style that is easy to read and her stories flow really well. I. G. FLETCHER had created some amazing characters and Thomas and Emeline were no exceptions. I love a second chance romance how these two absolutely interact with each other. You root for these two. Your emotions will go through the ringer with this one it pulls on your heart.
That blurb had me hooked! Love a second chance romance set in a small beach side town! Thomas & Emeline where B/F’s as children then finding their way back to each other years later! I loved everything about this story, K.G. Fletcher wrote a perfect blend of sweet and sexy in this read! This one is worth the read! Yes happy we are getting Ginger’s story!
I really enjoyed listening to Run to the Sea by K.G. Fletcher because it was such a wonderful story about Emeline (Emmy) and Thomas (Cappy). They were childhood best friends and were reunited after Thomas’ grandfather passed away. Thomas lived in NY and had to take a leave of absence while dealing with his grandfather’s estate. Emmy lived in Florida all her life and was trying to make ends meet while pursuing her love of painting. They met up again and each has secrets and through a period of time, those secrets are revealed. Cappy and Emmy were a fantastic couple but it took them some time to come together. And just when you think everything is working out, a tragedy happens and their relationship is put to the test again. I received an audio copy of this book in exchange for an honest opinion. I loved it and I loved all the characters in this book. K.G. Fletcher did a wonderful job of narrating this book. I highly recommend reading or listening to the book. It was wonderful!
Fantastic Story!
This is a new author to me and I can’t believe that I have never read any books by her before. This story about Thomas and Emeline is an emotional second chance love story that is utterly lovely and wonderfully written. The characters are lovable and relatable, and you can’t help falling in love with them.
I can’t wait to read more from this series.

Would you give up wealth and status for a second chance at love?
Thomas Capshaw, or Cappy to his closest friends, never imagined life like this. Millions at his fingertips and a wealthy socialite on his arm. But the untimely death of his beloved grandfather suddenly makes him realize he’s been living a lie. After returning to his hometown too late for the funeral, he runs into childhood friend Emiline Fischer, or Em, and quickly realizes he wants more than what he has. He wants to reconnect to the places and people who make him feel at home. And, above all else, he wants a second chance at true love. But will a jilted fiancee threaten it all? And after distancing himself from Em for years, can Cappy hope to get close to her again? What better way than to squeeze into her life as she’s posing nude for an art class?
This is a definite sweet and seductive romance, where the author is beautifully melodical with her words and descriptions. The hero and heroine are striking in their wholesomeness and care, showcasing both their vulnerabilities and strength. Even after reading the book, the characters were so richly developed they continue to dance through my thoughts, and I love the ripened sweetness of this beautiful story.
Such a good read! I loved Emeline & Thomas’s story, they were friends since childhood and after years apart they reconnect as adults. They have such a strong bond that I fell in love with. Emeline’s friend Ginger makes several appearances in the book and she is seriously the best! I cannot wait for her and Rusty’s story
I absolutely loved this story! It was sweet, endearing and down right perfectly written. Emeline and Thomas aka “Cappy” we’re best friends growing up. Thomas goes away for college leaving Emeline behind with out any contact for several years until his grandfather passed away. When he comes back to get closure from the guilt he has for what he had said to his grandfather he finds Emeline still living in their home town. These two find they have feelings for each other and that his grandfather had known all along when they come across a box of pictures they hadn’t even known his grandfather, who was a famous photographer, had taken of them during their childhood and teen years.
I’m a sucker for small town romance and second chances and this book deff hit the spot! If you love stories that make you want to move to a small town and find love this is the story for you!
A fantastic start to the Reigning Hearts series. This novel is based in a sleepy Florida seaside town. Aspiring artist Emeline Fischer has lived there her whole life but her best friend Thomas “Cappy” Capshaw left for college at 18 and didn’t come back. When his beloved grandfather, Pop, dies and leaves him Cap Cottage, Thomas returns home to tie up his will. A chance encounter with Emeline in the local diner, reignites feelings he thought were long-buried, but can he give up his life as a prestigious New York architect for a small-town life after all these years?
I really enjoyed this book, it was just the right balance of sentimentality, feel good and reality. I liked the characters of Emmy and Cappy, and the fact that they weren’t perfect, they made mistakes and had to sort them out. I particularly liked the seaside setting and the fact that Emmy could “run to the sea” whenever she needed to escape. Wouldn’t we all like that? It was a romantic and love-filled story about following your instincts and your dreams, but above all valuing friendship. 5/5 for me- I can’t wait to read book 2.
I absolutely loved Run to the Sea by K.G. Fletcher. It is the first book in the Reigning Hearts series, and I cant wait to read more. The story was so sweet and while it had some sad moments, the happily ever after was appreciated. This is the story of Emeline Fischer and Thomas Capshaw. They were best friends as children, and lost touch after Thomas, or Cappy, went to college. He finds himself lonely and trapped in New York City, stuck in a job he doesn’t enjoy and in a relationship with a woman he doesn’t love. He returns home to settle his grandfather’s estate after he passed away, and ran into Emeline, or Emmy, on his first day back home. Their reunion was not pretty, and she all but storms out. She is a waitress in a diner, as well as works various jobs throughout town. She is the epitome of a struggling artist, painting in all her free time. But, destiny quickly brings them back together and the friends reunite. With their shared passion of art, and a box of photographs left behind from Thomas’s famous photographer grandfather, they become best friends again. Read the story to uncover their love for each other and steps they take to make things work.
Run to the Sea by K.G. Fletcher is the first book in the Reigning Hearts series. This book is about two childhood friends finding each other, and their way.
I found this book to be so emotional. The author does an amazing job at creating a very real connection between you, the reader, and the characters. It felt like I was living every single emotion that they were each feeling.
The story carries this level of emotion well. It doesn’t take away from it but it also doesn’t let it down. It is well written and so engaging.
This author always seems to know how to write a good book and so far this is my favourite. I am looking forward to the next in the series.
Run to the Sea is a book about second chances. Thomas or “Cappy” leaves the little home town where he was born and raised leaving behind his family and his best friend Emeline. His family was not happy about him leaving town to go to college in New York to become an architect. Emeline and Cappy were best friends and thick as thieves growing up. When Cappy up and left he left Emeline behind as well even ignoring her many letters that she sent him. Years later Cappy’s beloved grandfather passes away leaving him his house. Cappy comes back to his home town area to decide what to do with his life. His life in New York is definitely not what he thought it would be. Once in town he reconnects with Emeline who has certainly grown up and has secrets of her own. Is this the second chance they both want? What happens when old hurts comes to the surface? I really enjoyed this book and feel like it was really well written.
