Oh man, this series just keeps getting better and better!
I was a little hesitant about how Jay and Willow’s story was going to work out. Jay was the financier behind the Lazarus project and had kept Willow in a containment cell when they first found her. His plan from the beginning had been to use her as bait to draw the puppet master behind the project out of hiding and into the light. However, what Jay didn’t realize was that his feelings for Willow would escalate to the point that all he cared about was keeping her safe even at the risk of his own life.
Willow is the most broken of those who have been turned. She was the control subject while the others were repeatedly tested on. Like the others, her memories are nonexistent. She also has an ability that makes her afraid to touch others. Initially, she can’t allow herself to forget that Jay is using her as a target and that her tentative reactions to him are not reciprocated.
Jay lives with guilt for his role in the project that has stolen lives and replaced them with men that are lost and confused as well as struggling with the images of monster that run rampant through their minds. He is seeking atonement and knows the first step is to find the man that he partnered with to find any other subjects that might still be out there. What he wasn’t expecting was to fall in love with one of them himself, but soon his whole focus is insuring that Willow is protected from not only outside threats but from her own confusion.
I absolutely loved this book! Willow’s growth from the beginning to end was amazing to watch and Jay’s possessive protection was the type of behavior that just sells me on a hero. Together they searched for answers even as their own relationship exploded off the page. The chemistry between these two were sizzling and no one does sexy alpha chemistry like Cynthia Eden. There was more from the previous couples, plenty of villainy and a level of suspense that will have you grasping your Kindle and flipping the pages as quickly as possible.
I personally think this can be read as a standalone although you might be a tad bit confused as to some of the back history of the project so I’d recommend you read the series from the beginning if possible.
This is an honest review of an advanced copy provided by NetGalley and Hocus Pocus Publishing.
Multi POV – mostly H/h
No apparent triggers
Safety – some OW/OM drama
Wow! Just Wow! What a thrilling exciting ride! This is Jay and Willow’s story and I could not wait for the two of them. Filled with a ton, betrayal, murder, suspense and secrets. So many secrets are revealed. I enjoyed their story immensely and did not put it down until I finished. Ms. Eden has always written a story where you feel that you are up close and personal with her characters and this read was no different. Very well-written and Jay is able to fall for the woman he loves! I found no fault at all in the story line. Beautifully written and poignant. 5 Astonishing stars!!!!
Now if we can only get a story on West Harper and Benjamin Larson, I would be really, really, really, happy, Lol.
I keep underestimating Cynthia Eden’s love for taking you on the most heart stopping, sexiest, romantic rides through her eyes. Every time I’m convinced that I loved the last alpha she wrote, she makes the last one disappear. I love this series. Even though she keeps her series 3 to 7 books, I see a lot of characters that I would love to see a happily ever after. More please.
GreAt series!
Love love love this series. I cry when I finish because I have to wait for the next one. You can not go wrong with this series!
The electrifying Lazarus Rising series continues with another thrilling novel full of fascinating characters and an exciting plot that keeps reader glued to the pages.
Willow and Jay’s story is one sensational story that really has readers holding on the edge of their seats. Willow and Jay’s relationship is explosive with not only chemistry but emotional issues as well which really compels readers to want to get know them and in my case had me rooting for their “happily ever after” especially since in this book that remains questionable throughout.
The story not only has keeps the suspense building in the relationship, there seems to be danger following Jay and Willow with every step that they make. The thrills continuously build excitement as twists and turns keep readers guessing on just who is the bad guy, especially since when the enemies include the original scientist involved in the Lazarus project and Willow’s lack of a past and Jay’s secrets that add to the anticipation.
Cynthia Eden’s wrote another sensational book that I couldn’t put down. The Lazarus Rising series is fast becoming one of my favorites, so I can’t wait to read the next one, especially after that interesting conclusion.
I know I probably say this each time but I think this is my favorite. Super strong soldiers, suspense, surprises, explosions and sex.
Willow is part of the Lazarus project. Jay is a tech billionaire who is trying to atone for funding the project. He has Willow to try and draw Wyman, the head of the project, out of hiding. He has fallen for Willow and will do anything to protect her. Because someone wants her and they want Jay out of the way. It’ll take time because Willow has flashbacks and is scared of what she might do but she wants a normal life but not at the expense of Jay’s life. Can Jay convince Willow that he loves her and she can trust him?
I couldn’t put this book down. It’s a page turner and will have you biting your nails to the very end.
