Once I picked up this book I was lost. Completed it in one day. The writing flowed and was really interesting, kept me in the edge of my seat from the beginning to the very end. The plot was magnificent and I found all the characters intriguing. This book earns one of my hard to get 5 star rating for all the emotions it evoked.
A page turner. It’s well written, gripping, and entertaining
Harlan Coben excels at bringing your worst nightmare to life. In this, a man loses his daughter to the underworld. A bit melodramatic in the beginning, it pays off exceptionally well in the end. And there is a twist near the end that not even George RR Martin would see coming. If you like books you THINK you can predict, but then find yourself saying, “holy … did not see that coming,” you’ll love this one. And it ends as well as can be expected under the circumstances.
Good read with memorable characters, intricate plot, and a surprising, twisty ending.
This is a well-done crime novel, but the plot kind of muddles up in the last third and is rather over-the-top by the time you get to the conclusion. This writer’s got a substantial following, but I don’t know that I’d try him out again. There’s certainly nothing noble about the story if plain crime entertainment is your thing.
I’ve been a Harlan Coben fan for a long time. Lately, his novels have all been about children who run away or are missing. We writers experience trauma like everyone else and fictionalize those traumas. I wonder if Harlan Coben has experienced such a loss. In any case, his stories are richly authentic and he weaves in alternate twists to differentiate and keep them interesting. Highly recommend
Good read.
Harlan Coben never disappoints!!!! Another incredible page-turner.
Way too many characters to keep track of. Too slow and wordy.
I don’t think it was my favorite Harlan Coben, but I always like his books.
Terrific with a wonderfully unexpected twist!
I read this book in three days and it was excellent. Simon ‘s daughter has become a junkie. He finds her in Central Park. He wants to help her, but she runs away. His attempts to find out what happened to cause her to become an addict are the story. It is a very interesting mystery to solve. You will enjoy the path to get there.
The best book of the year. Could not put it down. Harlan Coben never disappoints.
Fantastic read!! Can’t wait for next novel!,
Simon Greene’s daughter Paige is lost drugs and an abusive relationship, her boyfriend is found murdered then she is missing. Everywhere that Simon looks for his daughter there are more complications.
This fast-paced thriller novel will leave you at the edge of your seat.
This may not be Coben’s best, but it is very close.
I love many of Harlan Coben’s books, and prior to Run Away they were getting kind of repetitious. Not so for this. Simon Greene is a man with many blessings — a surgeon wife, kids he loves — until his oldest Paige becomes involved in drugs. In Simon’s quest to get her clean, he encounters a number of shady characters related to her life as an addict, and to her boyfriend, who has introduced her to drugs. During one such encounter, the violence escalates, affecting his family even more directly. As the story progresses we meet other characters: paid assassins connected to a mysterious cult, and a private investigator looking into the disappearance of boys who are somehow related. The characters intersect, with several twists. While some of these may be more predictable, others are not. Uncertain I loved the ending, but overall the book was a good read. Prepare to be up late.
Harlan Coben hits another one out of the park. A father walks in Central Park and sees his drug-ridden daughter. He grabs her trying to get her to come home when her “drug dealer boyfriend” stops him and she starts screaming. This is the beginning of watching how a close family slowly unravels as one secret after another is revealed. You won’t see it coming!
Typical great read from Coben, twists and turns and knocks you out ending.
Always a joy to read a Harlan Coben book!
