A perfect family is shattered when their daughter goes missing in this “brilliantly executed” New York Times bestselling thriller from a “master storyteller” (Providence Sunday Journal). You’ve lost your daughter. She’s addicted to drugs and to an abusive boyfriend. And she’s made it clear that she doesn’t want to be found. Then, by chance, you see her playing guitar in Central Park. But she’s …

Coben’s male protagonists are always family men who deeply love their wives and children. That never varies. What does vary is the way he manages to create unique stories that will keep you up nights reading.
A page-turning mystery about family love and secrets, filled with page-turning twists and turns. Another hit for Harlan Coben. A few Easter Egg appearances by other Coben characters
The Green’s straight arrow daughter spirals into drug use seemingly out of nowhere, and then disappears leaving a dead body in her wake. As her family races to find her, secrets unfold that tie the Greens directly into a seamy world of murder, drugs and a male dominated cult. Once again, Coben takes an ordinary family and places them in a boiling pot of trouble. I love his books, and he didn’t disappoint with this one.
Another gripping read by Coben. Spellbinding use of current fad technology and the endless tug of emotions between a father and his daughter. Couldn’t put it down.
I’m a fan of Coben’s thrillers. This one has lots of suspense and mystery. The plot twists are sudden and surprising.
It kept me up past my bedtime, which is high praise indeed.
The question always lurks in a parent’s mind–what would you do to save your child? In the case of parents of drug abusers the question becomes even more complex and troubling, and Sam knows this, but when he sees his strung out daughter Paige in Central Park, he approaches her to offer help one more time.
This sets a series of events in motion which spiral into secrets revealed, murder, deeply buried crimes and answers the question “What would you do? How far would you go?”
I was flipping pages as the ending snuck up on me, leaving me once again impressed with Harlan Coben’s talent as a mystery and suspense writer.
(This is a stand alone novel, not part of his ongoing series.)
Harlan Coben never disappoints and his latest is no different. Even though Myron is absent (We all love Myron) there’s still plenty of previous characters to feast on.
Great book!
Just when you think you’ve found your footing, author Harlan Coben knocks you off balance with his latest twisty tale. Run Away is at times heartbreaking, frequently surprising, and thoroughly riveting.
Dollycas’s Thoughts
I absolutely devoured this book! When I had to put it down I couldn’t get it off my mind. Days later it has stuck with me.
Simon Greene and his wife Ingrid have three beautiful children. They are extremely successful in their careers and are living the good life in Manhattan. Then their daughter Paige goes to college where something happens that leads her down the path of destruction. She drops out of school and becomes addicted to drugs. Simon and Ingrid try to help her but she doesn’t want to be helped.
Now they have no idea where she is. They decide to back off their search but when a friend tells Simon he saw her in Central Park he just has to try one more time. He finds her there in the area called Strawberry Fields performing, but when he tries to get close she runs off and her boyfriend physically stops Simon from following. Their altercation brings the police and there are tons of witnesses taping on their phones. It doesn’t look good for Simon. It looks like some rich guy beating up a homeless man.
Three months later Paige is still missing and Simon thinks the assault case is behind him but then the boyfriend is murdered. Simon, his wife, and even Paige are now suspects. Plus Paige could be in danger. The Greene’s now know they have to find their daughter even if it means risking their own lives.
There are two subplots that at first seem unrelated but it soon becomes clear that everything is connected. I can’t say more without spoiling this amazing story.
The characters in this story are believable and so well written. Coben gives them all genuine feel, the good guys and the bad. I felt there was a real hero in this story too. I grew to care about several characters and was very invested to see how their journeys played out.
This story had surprises at almost every turn. I dropped my Kindle at one point, shocked by what had just happened. Mr. Coben takes us to the gritty streets where bad things happen to people with good intentions. As the book continues we are shocked again and again. But whoa, the ending just blew me away. An extremely gripping and powerful story.
Coben is my favorite author when it comes to mind-bending suspense. I have loved every one of his books. As soon as this book arrived I dropped everything to read it and am so happy I did. Previous to this one my favorite was Caught, but this is my new fave. Harlan Coben takes us on a wild ride as Simon Greene follows a dangerous path to find his daughter and get to the truth and for me, he has topped himself. It deserves way more than 5 stars. This is a Run Away hit!
Fans of Harlan Coben will find this another compelling story. Simon has been looking for his daughter ever since she disappeared with her boyfriend. A boyfriend who has gotten his daughter into drugs and turned her into someone he doesn’t know. Until one day, he sees her in Central Park playing guitar. When he attempts to talk to her, she runs and he goes after her. That sets in motion a series of events that leads Simon into a world that will prove very dangerous for Simon and all of his family. A real page turner!
What a pager turner, with lots of surprises around every plot twist. All a bit contrived but still very fun. I’m not sure if I’ve read any of his other books but this one sure was fun. It’s about a father searching for is drug-addicted daughter… with some cults and adoptions and child snatchings and sociopathic hit men thrown in for fun and entertainment.
Anything Harlen Coben is great
Harlan never disappoints and this one is exceptional. Even with all his thrillers, and all of them being good he still strives to surprise. This one cause me to almost throw the book in shock at the end.
You need to read this one!
Amazing!
This was a very good book written in a style that only Harlan Coban writes…
I just sent this and Boy from the Woods to my friend in Nevada to read and she will pass them on.
These books are too good to sit on a shelf, I like to pass them on.
An interesting plot twist. It involves a father’s search for his daughter. To tell you more would be a spoiler.
Again Harlan Coben does not disappoint me. There was a lot of action and intrigue in this story. I did a lot of crying throughout this story as this father tries to find his missing daughter. There are drugs, shootings and a lot of other mysterious happenings. I did not want to put this book down. I received a copy of this book from goodreads for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
Not your typical Harlen Cobern thriller. Kind of depressing,
A page-turning, character-based suspense story with artfully intertwined plot threads. A complex, flawed protagonist desperate to find his runaway daughter confronts escalating challenges that threaten the deepest roots of his family relationships.
