Our shadows are always there. They entertain us when we’re little, just like best friends. As we grow older, they grow with us. Even through the darkness they stay, never leaving our side. They watch. They listen. They know all our secrets. Endure our pain. Their silence remains while only rumors drift in the wind.Soon our shadows turn from friend to foe. They become the monster starring in our … They become the monster starring in our nightmares, a temptress of hell reminding us what it feels like to burn.
Shadows are the demons that tear our souls apart. They never let go, and they never allow us to forget.
Everyone has a shadow.
I just buried mine.

This story takes you on an emotional journey that will leave you gasping, angry, enraged, crying, heartbroken, and then full of hope. There are triggers and even though this is fiction, you can see that these are things that happen in real life, which make it all the more real and I felt so much for Frankie. I just about fell in love with Dalton from the very beginning. He was what she needed and he was the light at the end of her dark tunnel. You won’t be able to put this down, even through the hard parts.
Every time I read a book by HJ Bellus she destroys me! she has this way of writing such beautifully raw and emotional story’s that will break your heart.
Frankie, oh my heart broke for her. I honestly had so much rage for the people of the small town she lived in. Rumours can be so damaging and gossip spreads like wildfire especially in a small town but what hurt me was that everyone turned a blind eye.
Oh Dalton, he made me swoon, I loved this man. He saw Frankie, he saw the real her, not the persona she portrayed and he knew something was wrong. He became her rock along with his brothers
This book deals with topics some may find hard but it was so well done, the emotions embedded themselves into your veins. It was a beautiful tale of healing, of hope, ssooo damn raw.
I needed some alcohol when I finished this one, it has remained with me and given me one hell of a book hangover
What a story! Frankie was so innocent and had that innocence taken from her. I was so mad that no one in her town would see what had happened to her! I was even mad at grandma who let it go on. In the end, Dalton came and saved Frankie.
This was such a beautifully written story. I can’t wait to read more!
I absolutely love HJ and her books. It has been a little bit since she has released one. But she came back swinging with this one. WOW. This one is off the charts amazing from beginning to end. Have tissues because you will need them. Frankie has been through so very much. More than any one person should have to go through. Then she loses the one person that she could trust and was there for her. Now she is on her own dealing with everything from her past. Except for her past is coming back to get her. But she takes matters into her own hands. Dalton sees her and knows that she is hiding something and that there is something going on with her. He wants so badly to help her but Frankie has to let him in first which is not easy for her. This was quite the storyline from the beginning to the end. I wanted to cry when Frankie leaves. I understood why she did it but it was still heartbreaking. But HJ in her wonderful way put you back together. It is impossible to clearly describe this book it is one that you just have to read for yourself. I highly recommend one clicking this one and reading about Frankie and Dalton.
HJ Bellus is back with a vengeance in Rumors! There is a trigger warning for this story as it tells about very sensitive topics.
Reading this story was emotional for me. The characters pull you in and you just feel for everything they go through. My heart was in my throat for most of this book. But like HJ Bellus is known to do, she pulls you apart only to put you back together with a more attuned sense of what happened. Rumors is the perfect way to start the New Year off with an amazing read! The plot line and character development could not have been better. They story gripped me from start to finish and while it was hard to emotionally read everything, I could not even force myself to put down the story.
Rumors…gossip…hearsay…a whisper. This is Frankie May’s story. “The most disgusting part of my story is the devil was right, and kept his promise to destroy me.” Then enters Dalton Cray the new town sheriff and he sees something in Frankie that he’s only seen once before and he plans to help her. “He set my soul free from the he’ll it was barred in.”
This story is heart ripping, it’s emotional, it’s hits a little too close to home, it’s recovery and it’s beautiful. “I’ve found my beautiful things and will never let go of them.”
HJ I don’t want to calm this your comeback but i feel like it’s a new start and I can’t wait to read what else you’ve got coming.
Oh my… Wow… I am still trying to find the words to describe how much I loved Rumors! A truly raw and heart-wrenching story; Rumors completely breaks your heart then slowly pieces it back together. I love that HJ Bellus brought us Frankie and Dalton’s story as it puts a much-needed spotlight on some very tough subjects that are often swept under the rug or locked away in a closet. For as painful as some parts of this story were to read; there were, also, some really funny, laugh out loud moments too. I loved Frankie and Dalton; but I loved the rest of the crew… Truckee, Opal, Preach and Gemma.. especially Gemma.. just as much. They showed that sometimes our biggest supporters come from the most unexpected places.
The trigger warning for this story made me really nervous and unsure if I wanted to read the story. I am so glad that I took a chance and read Rumors. HJ Bellus is a brilliant storyteller and absolutely outdid herself with this story!
This book is everything!
We’ve missed you HJ Bellus, and what a way to come back!…
The feels and emotion in this book. It’s definitely a MUST read of 2020!
The message in this book is something every woman and young girl should read and take to heart. And it tells us all to stay strong and never give up.
My favorite words are:
“All the beautiful things”
The moral of it all is, family is family, and no matter what paths our lives take us, we are still connected. It doesn’t matter how ugly our past is or how dismal our future appears. We are tied together forever.
Always forward and never back . We have all of our beautiful days and trust me, not one will be wasted.
Oh I don’t know if I can do this book enough justice. Frankie was a terrified girl who was one step away from self destruction. Dalton was the new sheriff in town. One look at Frankie and there was a pull and a need to protect. He became her champion, her hero and her church. Through determination she made strides by leaps and bounds. I encourage everyone to find your beautiful. This book will leave you breathless. This book will give a voice to all the abused women and children of the world.
WOW! I think this is my favorite HJ Bellus book! Such heartache, loss and strength in someone so young. Frankie overcomes the worst thing imaginable and she is so young with the help of the new sheriff in town, Dalton Cray. HJ pull out all of the stops on this one. I highly recommend this amazing read!
This story gripped me from the very beginning and didn’t let me go until the very end. Every time I sit down to read a book by this author, I know I will be taken to a place emotionally that will touch me so deeply and stay with me for days after I finish. I don’t even have to read about what the book is about before diving in. This is because I know that I will love whatever she is giving to us. This story is no different. Frankie’s life was heartbreaking and tragic but this girl becomes so strong and so incredible as this story unfolds. The support she finds from Dalton, Truckee, and Opal is one of the most beautiful pieces of this story. They become her strength when she couldn’t find it in herself. They had her back and stood by her side and believed in her when nobody else would. These characters brought so much emotion, vulnerability, honesty and incredibly touching moments. I loved the epilogue and finished reading the book feeling so happy and lucky to have had the gift of reading such a beautiful moving story. Bravo H.J. Bellus for delivering yet again, another beautiful and soul touching story to stay with us long after finishing the last page.
