I simply adored this book and all it’s characters. It’s funny, sassy, romantic and heartwarming. This enemy to friends romance will have you smiling and literally laughing out loud at the antics and banter between not only the main characters but the secondary ones as well.
Mason is the Star QB of the local football team. He’s living the dream with money, fame, women and booze. The trouble is he’s obnoxious, arrogant and totally out of control. His only true friend and manager has decided Mason needs a wife to settle him down so they hire a matchmaker, Maddie, to help him. This is where the story takes off. The prim and proper southern lady trying to deal with the loud, foul mouth Mason, without maiming, him is a total hoot. But there is more to both Mason and Maddie than meets the eye. But I won’t spoil that part for you, you’ll just need to read the book.
I highly recommend reading Rules of Engagement. Your heart and your funny bone will be very glad you did. It’s such a great read. 2 Thumbs Up and 5 Hilarious Stars.
4 1/2 funny stars!! This was quite a switch from what I have read from this author and I have to say it was fantastic! Full of super funny dialogue and the wittiest of banter from Maddie and Mason, these two opposites will lend cred to the saying opposites attract! I adored Maddie and Mason was everything you would think she would never want until she brings out the side of himself that he hides under all those intense layers. It isn’t all fun and games between these two; there are some serious moments too. The actual rules of engagement don’t get laid out for a while into the book, but they’re great. Very entertaining story that includes some other colorful supporting characters like Dick and Waldine. Chapter 1 and the F word monologue from Mason is just hysterical as is his blatant dislike for all things Patriots and Tom Brady.
Side note: As a lifelong fan, I love the Patriots and Tom Brady and all the love from Maddie regarding both-much to Mason’s dismay!
I really enjoyed this book!
Mason Sparks plays in the NFL and is rough around the edges to say the least. He’s mouthy and in your face. Maddie McRae is his opposite. She is a professional matchmaker and a sweet southern belle. Her job is to find you someone to love, but that isn’t necessarily what Mason is after. Their first meeting is less than ideal, but there is no denying the attraction on both sides. Mason needs to clean up his image in order to keep his contract, he thinks a wife is all he needs. The more time he and Maddie spend together the more he realizes that maybe love isn’t such a bad thing. The question is, could the pretty and polite Maddie ever fall for the league’s bad boy?
This was a super fun and cute read. The banter between Maddie and Mason is hilarious and had me laughing out loud. Also, Auntie Waldine, HILARIOUS! This is a great opposites attract story. I really enjoyed getting to know both characters and finding out why they are the way that they are. J.T. Geissinger painted an all-around picture of the characters and didn’t leave any question unanswered. I will say there were times when Mason wasn’t my favorite. He has a chip on his shoulder the size of Texas, but once I learned more about his rough childhood, it made it clearer to me why he acted this way. All in all, I highly recommend this book if you are looking for something that may be a little lighter to read!
