If your ex arrives in your hometown eighteen months after you walked out on him while you were eight months pregnant, follow this short list of rules before you give him a second chance. Rule #1 – Don’t stand in the way of your brothers who want to rough him up.Rule #2 – Don’t meet him for coffee and agree to allow him to meet your daughter.Rule #3 – Don’t drool when your daughter falls asleep … your daughter falls asleep on his chest for the first time. It’s just your ovaries talking.
Rule #4 – Don’t let him hold your hand. While we’re at it, no hugs, no kisses on the cheek… just no physical contact in general. That only leads to remembering better times.
The last one is the most important…
Rule #5 – When you find yourself needing someone’s help and you’re tired of always asking your family, don’t let him be the one who’s there for you.
Because all those good qualities of his will suck you right back in and you’ll have no chance of fighting your feelings, especially now that he’s ready to be a father to your daughter.

Holy moly!! Way to save the best for last. I was an emotional mess! Rules For Dating Your Ex was the ninth book in Piper & Rayne’s The Baileys Series. I devoured the book! It was pure perfection – swoony, heartwarming, sexy, and oh so sweet!!
Sedona had walked away, eighteen months ago, from the love of her life. When he showed up ready to be in their daughters life, would she allow it? Could she be strong enough to handle being around him?
Jamison knew he needed to be ready to win her back. He had to make up for all the bad decisions that kept him away. Would he be able to convince her he was a changed man or had he missed his chance?
Oh my gosh!! Seriously!! These two had such a history and getting to see all sides of it was perfect! I was not ready to say goodbye to these guys but Piper and Rayne made it an epic conclusion with ALL the warm fuzzies I could ask for!!
Being back in the a Bailey world makes me happy. Jamison and Sedona give us a second chance romance like no other. Hard hitting topics are part of this full ensemble read. Sigh. All the Bailey’s’ come out to play. LOVE IT!
Deafness, alcoholism, surrogacy, postpartum, being a single parent and forgiveness all play a part in this telling. I know. Holy heck it is A LOT. These topics are truly explored in a love story kind of way. They maintain a somewhat vagueness at times that supports the desire for believability. Having said that I would have liked for more details on the surrogacy and postpartum. I felt more information and emotions should have been part of the storyline. I do get that that would have created a larger story than what this author partnership probably wanted to tackle. Eek.
Ok more on what I love. Deafness and its culture was beautifully described. Props to voicing the struggles of alcoholism and recovery. All this being done while different Bailey characters flowed in and out of this story. Happy dance is happening thinking about it.
The heart of this story, Jamison and Sedona make me swoon. Growing up, learning to let go of past hurts and tackling the challenges of parenting are represented well. The spiciness of this story is on point. What is most impressive is the timeline they gave because truthfully four weeks after having a baby, I would have hurt someone. All I wanted to say to Sedona is “You Go Girl”. Also all the littles in this book steal the show but Palmer is the reigning princess. Sooo Sweet!!!
Lastly, WHAT THE HECK… a BIG SURPRISE is revealed. The BUZZ WHEEL author is unveiled. SOOO FLIPPING GOOD. Also added is who the new family is in line to find their HEA’s. Now that Grandma Dori’s clan is taken care of it is Ethel’s grandchildren’s turn. Yikes. The Greenes at Sunrise Bay are coming soon. Wink wink.
Happy Reading Everyone!!! XOXO
I was looking forward to reading this book so much! It was bittersweet since this is the last Bailey book, but Sedona and Jamison’s love story is so beautiful and mature (despite their young age) that you will want to read it all without stop.
Sedona has faced a lot of things alone, giving birth and raising her 18-month daughter alone and of course Jamison has a lot to catch up and atone for. The book is brutal in not excusing Jamison but honest in showing how much they care for each other.
Alcoholism is a silent disease and I believe the authors were quite honest in telling us readers how much it affected Jamison’s life and his family (Sedona and his parents). I think honestly it is the best book of the series and I loved how united this family is.
A lovely book with many sentiments, in fact it is very sentimental and romantic.
I loved this book!
We finally have Sedona’s story! It’s true at first I disliked Jamison at first but he did capture my heart by the end. Sedona has returned home to have the support from the rest of the Baileys. It’s a fantastic second chance romance that will have you rooting for them to come together and succeed. I hope this isn’t the end of the Baileys, we at least need to see how they are doing on the Holidays! I fell in love with each and everyone of them. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review after reading this arc, but I of course loved it so much I purchased my own copy!
This was such a bittersweet book for me. While I’ve been impatiently waiting for Sedona’s story, and I absolutely love anything having to do with the Bailey family, I’m so sad it’s over. I tried making this book last as long as possible to avoid finishing one of my favorite series, but I couldn’t put it down.
My two favorite tropes are single parent & second chance and both of these came together so perfectly in this story. Sedona was actually so different than I was expecting, and I absolutely loved her and Jamison! Their story was definitely extremely emotional, but so full of love. And Palmer was the perfect addition, not only bringing them together but uniting all the Bailey’s, including the kids!
There were definitely a few things I was disappointed with, but even still this is a 5 star read for me. Long time Bailey fans will get something we’ve been waiting for since the very beginning, and I was also really happy how it set up the new series. I have a feeling we will still get some of our beloved Bailey’s, and I’m really excited to check in on my favorite family!
My heart exploded with Sedona and Jamison. I love second chance romances and this one hit all the feels for me. I felt their pain, their longing, their need to move forward with each other and let go of the past. It’s sweet, sexy, and heartwarming.
Oh, the Baileys! It has been an adventure watching them fall in love and settle down with their forever loves. I must say Rome Bailey seems bound and determined to follow in his parents’ footsteps and have as many children as possible. This book struck me how many years have passed since we began this journey with the Bailey family. In Austin’s book, the twins, Sedona and Phoenix, were still in high school. Now they are in their mid-twenties, so almost ten years have passed. Austin, the oldest, is probably in his forties now. All the Baileys are grown up, and it adds to the sweetness of this final book.
We initially met Jamison in Austin’s book when he was dating Sedona in high school. However, we have only gotten glimpses here and there of just how long-lasting their relationship had been. We now have two broken young adults struggling to recover from the devastation addiction wreaks on families and relationships. I appreciate how the author handled Jamison’s recovery. The idea that the hero can conquer his addiction without working the program is naive at best. I liked that Jamison stayed in contact with his sponsor and realized the sponsoring someone is a huge responsibility, and you have to be very careful who you choose. Jamison came back humbled and willing to work to make amends and repair what his addiction had destroyed.
Sedona had to work through her stages of grief and forgiveness, and it made for a poignant journey for both of them. But we witnessed the power of love and forgiveness from both Sedona and the Bailey family as they re-embraced Jamison. One of the things I have most enjoyed about these books is the power of love within a family. Grandma Dori is generally leading the charge with her trusty sidekick Ethel by her side.
And with an anticipatory giggle, I look forward to Grandma Dori and Ethel as they begin their shenanigans with Ethel’s grandchildren. I could foresee something between some great-grandchildren; I cannot wait. Ladies, thank you for the Baileys.
Redemption Is Sweet
This has been such a journey! Nine siblings finding their HEA. I loved every smile and every tear. The Bailey Clan will forever hold a special place in my heart.
Sedona is the last of her siblings to get the happy ending she deserves. The boy who won her heart in high school has grown into the man who will have it forever.
He was the foreign exchange student from Scotland that all the girls wanted, but he only had eyes for her. His soccer career took them on a crazy ride and Jamison lost his way.
The only way to protect herself and her unborn little girl, was to leave. He was spiraling out of control. She walked away and headed back home.
It’s been eighteen months and her and Palmer are doing great. Being a single mom has it’s challenges, but having a family that pitches in helps pick up the slack. She never expected Jamison to literally walk back into Lake Starlight and want them back…until the day he did.
He’s in for an uphill battle facing all the Bailey’s, but his girls are worth it. All he wants is Sedona and Palmer. He has made mistakes, but he owns them. He’s worked hard to gain his sobriety and he plans on doing whatever it takes to get his family.
This was a story of redemption and unconditional love. They were broken for a time, but the love for each other never waned. Jamison was dedicated and being a dad brought out the best in him. His daughter being deaf only made him work harder to give her everything. Sedona was strong and brave. She took on being a single mother and worked toward her independence. The two of them together was steamy. And as a family, they were the sweetest.
I’m hoping this won’t be the last we see of the ever expanding Bailey clan. They’ve become like family. You’ll get more babies, a few more on the way and the ever present Gradma Dori, who we all love. And you’ll finally find out about the best kept secret in Lake Starlight.
This was a great series and I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. I feel like I should be an honorary Bailey!
I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the finale book in the series and it ties everything up nicely and also introduces us to the next series which will also happen in Alaska. While its sad to say goodbye to a family I grew to love I cannot wait for the new family.
This is Jamison and Sedona’s story and in the last book she was 8 months pregnant when she left him. In this story she has given birth to Palmer who is 18 months. And she is also super pregnant. But Jamieson is NOT the dad. I kinda figured out who the dad was before but I am not spoiling that here.
This story is about Jamieson more than Sedona, J is sorta an honorary Bailey. He was a scottish exchange student in the early books when he met Sedona in High School and later they went off to college and ended up together after college. However as a soccer player life was not all smooth for him and the stress made him lose Sedona. In this story he wants to get to know his daughter and achieve forgiveness from Sedona and his second family, the Bailey’s.
It was an awesome story and he knows what he wants but he has to earn everyones forgiveness. I loved that Sedona made him really work for it. We don’t see Juno and Colton in this book at all which was kinda strange. We do get a lot of the other Bailey’s though and that made it extra fun. I adored Phoenix in this story and I love how there she is for Sedona. This as an awesome conclusion to the series and ties everything up super well.
I’m so sad that this is the last Bailey book, but this was a wonderful book that gave me so many emotions. It’s a fantastic book to end the series. Sedona and Jamison have been mentioned from the beginning and now their story is here. It’s a second chance story. I don’t think I can give any examples without spoilers so I hope you read it and get emotional like I did. I like seeing all the other couples and what is happening plus the Buzz Wheel author is revealed. There’s also a hint about future books. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC to read early before my own copy came. I’m leaving my honest review. I really enjoy all of Piper Rayne’s books and this is one of my favorites.
I can’t believe that that’s the last Bailey book. I feel like I need my own 12 step program to recover. I want so much more but hopefully we will still get little snippets and catch ups when we get to meet Ethels grandkids.
So I really wasn’t expecting Sedona and Jamison’s story to hit me quite so hard. And I definitely didn’t expect to have the feels I got from it. To be honest I really don’t recall seeing the fact Jamison had an addiction to alcohol so I wasn’t sure why Sedona up and left him at 8 months pregnant, but I figured it would be dramatic.
Being close to a few alcoholics makes me sensitive to this subject and honestly not in a good way. So once I learnt that was Jamison’s issue I didn’t expect to forgive him. But he worked so hard to overcome it and I understood what lead him there. I still had a few issues, but Sedona was so strong and sensible in her approach I feel like she held my hand and walked me through it.
From the beginning I was team Sedona and I loved that she was so independent and working so hard to be the best mother. And even when she was hurt by how everything played out between her and Jamison she didn’t play games, she just tried to keep her relationship separate to the relationship she wanted Palmer to have with her father.
And like I said, Jamison worked so hard for what he wanted. And he went balls to the wall to prove and earn everything to Sedona and Palmer and the rest of the Bailey clan. I had a slight issue with Palmer not being very age appropriate but it worked for the story and it was close enough. If I wasn’t with my 2 and 3 year old every day I probably wouldn’t have noticed it.
But for now I’m going to mourn the end of my Bailey siblings and pray that the ladies write us a nice little novella wrapping everyone up in a neat little epilogue or Buzz Wheel post. And I will be keeping my fingers crossed that we see them in the Green’s books.
OH WOW!! Piper Rayne has done it again!! I have loved getting to know the characters throughout this series and love each and every one of the books in this series but Rules For Dating your Ex has now become my favorite!
I love Sedona and Jamieson’s story! We finally get a taste of Sedona and her life. Now Jamieson….holy crap! Total hotness and swoon worthy! Reading him and seeing the images in my head of Jamieson and Palmer will make your ovaries explode! And to finally read the story behind Sedona and Jamieson broke my heart but also had me screaming for joy.
Rules For Dating Your Ex is Book 9 in The Bailey’s Series. If you have not read any of this series, I would highly recommend it! You will fall in love with all of the characters.
Okay so you know when you go into a book hating a character and wishing that they weren’t one of the main characters because no way on Earth is this character going to redeem him/herself enough for you to be on their team with their very own HEA…..well that is Jamison. He hurt Sedona, he hurt her so much that as a Team Bailey kind of girl I didn’t think he could be the one for her.
And then Piper Rayne strikes gold and melts your heart to oblivion to the point that you wonder how you went from hating him to loving him and wanting him to win the girl even after all that he has done. That is this book, that is the brilliance of this story and the way that Sedona and Jamison find themselves is precious. An author or duo that can do that……make you change your mind and heart is magnificent.
To say that I loved this book does not do it justice because it truly is the epitome of Piper Rayne Royalty here. It brought closure to the Bailey Family, closure that I didn’t want, but that was so beautifully weaved with the family that I have grown to love and think of as my own.
Palmer steals the show. Her scenes are hilarious and so special because she is one of the cutest little tykes in the Bailey Baby Clan! Grandma Dori continues her antics which we have all come to know and love. And all the Bailey’s show themselves and warm my heart.
Sedona and Jamison are going to show you exactly why Piper Rayne a sizzling duo!
I loved this book. Really didn’t think I would have a favourite in the Bailey bunch but this one inches ahead. The way the authors have described the characters, their emotions and everything going on around them is wonderful. You feel part of the book; watching on the edges. Emotional subjects and a lot of research shines through.
Worth the wait!
The last Bailey sibling to get their story and it’s a winner. This one was real – it dealt with the realities of addiction and how it affects the ones you love.
I didn’t feel this one was rushed at all and I really believed in Sedona and Jamison’s struggles. These books are such a treat since you get ALL the Bailey siblings in one book and this one definitely cleared up the jaw dropping ending from Book #8.
This story was full of love and getting their second chance was everything! I also liked the specialness of Palmer which was very heartwarming. …and this wraps up another VERY important part of these Bailey books – you’ll definitely want to read this story if you’ve been following the Baileys from the beginning or even in the middle!
I voluntarily requested and read an advance reader copy.
Sedona Bailey’s story is one of heartbreak and redemption. You go in hating Jamison but boy oh boy does he win you over.
There is a lot going on in this story, first and foremost Jamie has come back to claim the love of his life and his daughter, Palmer. I will admit I was pissed with Jamie because of the back and forth of his and Sedona’s relationship in the prior books and when she came back to Lake Starlight, Alaska eight months pregnant without Jamie that major strikes against him. In RULES FOR DATING YOUR EX we find out everything that the two of them have been through from their first meeting in high school right up to the present day, and some of it isn’t pretty at all.
Sedona and Jamie have a love like no other, they have always had ups and downs but somehow always came through on the other side of it, will they be able to do it again when it seems like everyone and every thing is standing in his way?
But that’s not all, it is finally revealed who the writer on BUZZ WHEEL is, and I will pat myself on the back for this one because I called it with the very first book. We also have a lot going on with the other Bailey siblings so much exciting news to share, but that would be a spoiler so you’ll just have to read RFDYE to find out what happens yourself.
This is the last full length novel in the Baileys Series and I am sad to see that it is ending, BUT, this was a nice segue into the new series Piper Rayne is going to be gifting us with, this one is a town over from Lake Starlight in Sunrise Bay, Alaska, with G’Ma Dori’s BFF Ethel Green’s family front and center. I expect with this new series we will see similar antics with the two meddlesome grandmothers.
I highly recommend this series to anyone that enjoys large family contemporary romances. What is great about this series is that cover so many different tropes it always felt new and exciting.
Happy Reading!!!
This was a terrific series in general with each book bringing its own uniqueness. Rules for Dating Your Ex is the final full-length book (there are nine!) featuring Sedona Bailey. Sedona was very mature in this book as she had to be after everything she’s been, and currently is, going thru. No spoilers but you just might find out who has been keeping tabs on the residents of Lake Starlight. This is a voluntary review of an advance reader copy.
Here we go, getting to read about the last one of the Bailey siblings. After those big ass cliffhanger we got in the previous books, we finally get to know more about what is going on in Sedonas life. All the questions are getting answers, and we know what went wrong with those high school sweethearts!
I was so not a fan of Jamison, let me tell ya. And I was quite surprised when I learned, that Sedonas book was about these two, because I couldn’t imagine forgiving him. (Partly cause I’m not a forgiving person when it comes to my loved ones – and I love those Bailey!)
But even I had to admit that he did go all out to redeem himself – and I am so happy he did.
Sedona is a badass woman! And all those things, that happened just made her stronger and we get to see how two people can fight their past to get a happily ever after.
I live those book and I am beyond sad, that we have to say goodbye to this awesome family. Gonna miss ‘m like crazy.
Y’all this is so good. With it being the last Baileys book I purposely took my time reading it. With each one of theses characters I have fallen more in love with this family. We’ve cried with them and we’ve lived with them.
Serena and Jameson haven’t had it great. Their love is strong but sometimes it just isn’t enough. I loved their story and can’t wait for everyone to read it. I highly recommend it and the rest of the series also. A million stars!
*Review by Michelle
This is the 9th book in this phenomenal series and is Sedona and Jamieson’s story. Sedona arrived back in her hometown pregnant and alone, and her protective siblings’ close ranks around her. Now months later Jamieson show up wanting to get to know his daughter, and to redeem himself to Sedona. My heart went out to Jamieson as he faced his mistakes head on and sought out the help he needed before coming to town. Is it to late for get his girl back? I loved how Grandma Dori who just wants the best for all her family, and she is on fire in this story. This is a beautifully written tale which has explosive chemistry, and is a heart-breaking, emotional, entertaining, and humorous tale with drama, witty banter, and love. I was captivated throughout this riveting story and I cannot wait to read more form this gifted duo whose work I highly recommend for all.
