If your ex arrives in your hometown eighteen months after you walked out on him while you were eight months pregnant, follow this short list of rules before you give him a second chance. Rule #1 – Don’t stand in the way of your brothers who want to rough him up.Rule #2 – Don’t meet him for coffee and agree to allow him to meet your daughter.Rule #3 – Don’t drool when your daughter falls asleep … your daughter falls asleep on his chest for the first time. It’s just your ovaries talking.
Rule #4 – Don’t let him hold your hand. While we’re at it, no hugs, no kisses on the cheek… just no physical contact in general. That only leads to remembering better times.
The last one is the most important…
Rule #5 – When you find yourself needing someone’s help and you’re tired of always asking your family, don’t let him be the one who’s there for you.
Because all those good qualities of his will suck you right back in and you’ll have no chance of fighting your feelings, especially now that he’s ready to be a father to your daughter.

The Baileys have been part of my reading enjoyment for so long, yet not long enough. I am sad this is the end. I am going to miss this family and their antics. With nine siblings in the family, nine books and a couple of novellas, there is a lot to love. From Austin to Sedona, my heart is full. This family has become so special to me as well as the small town of Lake Starlight, Alaska that these books take place in. If you’ve read anything from this author duo before, then you already know they are incredible storytellers.
This last book is the story of Sedona and Jamison. From the first book of the series, we meet the family. Sedona and Jamison were high school sweethearts; they were each other’s first and only love. By the time Sedona and Jamison’s story is told, it is about a decade later. For most of those years they were together, with the exception of the last eighteen months. Jamison was playing professional soccer when an injury sidelined his career. Not dealing with that loss in a positive manor, he became someone that Sedona couldn’t be with. With her heart broken, Sedona returns home to Lake Starlight eight months pregnant.
When Jamison finally shows up to claim his family, he will have a lot of groveling to do. Jamison is now enemy number one in the eyes of the Bailey family. With only Grandma Dori rooting for him, and helping him in her own Grandma Dori way, he has a lot of rough road before him. I too was rooting for him. His struggles were real and he did everything he could to overcome them. Jamison became a man I was proud of. Sedona tried to keep Jamison at a distance but it was difficult. Although she was rightfully angry with him, she never stopped loving him. I was so happy with the moments they shared together prior to becoming a couple once again. The author took their time to give a slower pace with Jamison and Sedona’s relationship, yet keeping a steady flow of words so that the story didn’t stall or lag.
While all the books in the series are stand alone, I recommend you read them all. And the great thing about that is since all the books are available in the series now, with Rules for Dating Your Ex being the last, this a perfect binge-worthy opportunity.
I am so looking forward to the spinoff series coming from this. Another Alaska town series, more siblings, and another meddlesome grandmother who has the help of her great friend Dori, and the writing talents of Piper Rayne, of course!
This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
5 Star Review Rules For Dating Your Ex (The Baileys #9) by Piper Rayne
I have been early awaiting Sedona’s story but knowing that this is the second to last book in the series, it was bittersweet to start this read. To me the Bailey’s have become like a family to me, I have become invested in their lives and it’s like coming home when I pick up their books.
Piper Rayne write strong characters that are so easy to relate to and they are not afraid to show them in all their flawed glory. Sedona and Jamison’s second chance at love story and the journey that they embark on show this perhaps more than the other stories in the series have.
I was hooked from the first to the last chapter and there were plenty of surprises. I admit that there were times that I really disliked Jamison, it really took a while for me to warm up to him. However, such is the writing of Piper Rayne, they managed to turn my opinion around and I ended up admiring all that he did to prove he had changed. Sedona really came into her own in this book, she stepped up and I adored her relationship with Palmer.
Can Sedona and Jamison come to terms with the past and take another chance that this time things will be better? I love that you also get to catch up with all the other couples as well and get the latest gossip from Lake Starlight, Alaska.
I have loved this series from the beginning and I fell more in love with the characters with each book. The Bailey’s series is a must read. Rememberable characters, moments, sibling bonds, love like no other, fun/witty times and a grandma who wants nothing but the best for her family.
My favorite Bailey Book!!!! Five amazing stars!! Sedona and Jamison are my favorite couple. I’ve been highly anticipating this book, basically since Confessions of a Naughty Nanny. I had a feeling someone happened with Sedona and Jaminson, based of the title. After each book, I grew more and more impatient for these two. Maybe because I love a great second chance story. The Cliffhangers in the previous two Bailey books had me counting down.
Where do I even start? The amount of feeling I had through this entire book were all over the place. I knew in my heart that Sedona and Jamison belonged together no matter what, but the journey to their happily ever after was not going be an easy one. I think I had a special place in my heart for Jamison because he was a soccer star. But he was a mess, and needed to grovel to win Sedona back. I was so happy the way she stood her ground and doesn’t make it easy for him. But I’m so proud of Jamison. You can see his heart is Sedona and Palmer. He’s incredible with Palmer.
But when Sedona can get past her heartache, their love shines. Absolutely radiates. I felt like I couldn’t finish the book fast enough but I also wanted it to never end. Grandma Dori played a part in these two coming together, but doesn’t she always?
This series is one of my all time favorites. The Baileys and Lake Starlight are so special to me. I never want to leave this town. I’m so sad that this series is over, but so happy the way it finished. Next we move to Sunrise Bay with the Greene’s. I’m hoping we more so much more of Ethel and Grandma Dori’s shenanigans.
Omg! It’s the end! I can’t believe it’s the last full length Bailey’s book! What a fantastic story to end the series on.
I LOVED Sedona, Jamieson and Palmer so much! I’m hoping a future series will feature Palmer and her cousins!
Sedona and Jamieson’s story will break your heart in places. There were tears happy and sad ones! Everything they have gone through. In one way they were lucky to find each other when they were only seventeen but their path back to each other hasn’t been easy.
I know alot of people haven’t been Jamieson’s biggest fan but I honestly always had a soft spot for him. Sedona wouldn’t have loved someone the way she did if he wasn’t a good person.
I loved seeing all the Bailey’s back together in one place and Grandma D was on fire in this book!
This series is an absolute must read for me and one of my all time favourites. You have to read this!
If you only have time to read 9 books this year make it this series you won’t regret it.
Love love. Love. Jamison and Sedona are adorable and I loved them. Everyone makes mistakes and Jamison made some pretty big ones but tries his hardest to make up for them. He is just so sweet and loving toward Sedona and Palmer. Just really enjoyed the connection between them and how well they worked together. Sedona is a great mom and all around good person. Happy endings all around! Great story and end of the series. Sad to see them go but glad we’ll still be in Alaska and hopefully still get to see them a little.
Oh my heart….this series, these characters, this story was absolutely EVERYTHING! It’s hard to see this series come to an end because this family holds a special place in my heart and I’ll definitely be revisiting them often!
I have been impatiently waiting for Sedona and Jamison’s story since the beginning but after the sneak peek in Winning My Best Friend’s Girl I knew this book would be an emotional journey! I had a love/hate relationship with Jamison but in true Piper Rayne fashion they always redeem the one you hate the most. Sedona was incredible, loving and strong with all that she endured, you can’t help but love her.
This story had me in tears page after page….for the anger, the hurt, the pain but more so for the forgiveness, the happiness and the love this family has for each other! This is one series that MUST be read, one that is absolutely on my TOP READS and one I highly RECOMMEND!
It’s bitter sweet because this is the final book for The Baileys and I was waiting for Sedona’s story. She has been a bit MIA during the other books because she was living in NYC. Now she is back and 18 months later, Jamison is ready to fight for his family. But can it be too late? Especially finding Sedona is very much pregnant again?
That caught me off guard with the end of last book. When you start RFDYE you will find out the what’s and why’s. Palmer stoles the show. I loved her and her huge little heart. I love how The Baileys pulled together and just loved Palmer and Sedona.
Rules for Dating Your Ex was just simply amazing. I smile so much when we visit Lake Starlight. And I am extremely excited to meet The Greene’s. Grandma Dori and Ethel are just so fun, I can’t wait for more. Plus – maybe a Bailey or two could possibly make an appearance??? Just hopeful thinking lol I highly recommend this book! You need it in your life 🙂
This is the story of the last Bailey sibling, Sedona, and her HS sweetheart, Jamison Ferguson. If you have been following the books about the Bailey clan, you know this one has been highly anticipated due, not only to its significance, but also the need to find out Lake Starlight’s best kept secret: who writes Buzz Wheel.
Sedona and Jamison met in HS when he arrived as an exchange student to Lake Starlight. They met, fell in love and made beautiful memories, but Sedona was heading to college in NY while Jamie returned to Scotland to pursue his dream of playing professional soccer.
Life went on, Jamison returned and they were on their way to their HEA until he suffered a career ending injury and was unable to handle the downfall, which lead Sedona to go back to Lake Starlight and the protection of her family.
Now Jamie is back and wants to recover what he lost, but he’ll have the uphill battle with Sedona and her family.
This book was everything I expected. Heartfelt, filled with all kinds of love and a lot of surprises. As I said of the previous 2 books, the last siblings have been the ones that run the deepest feelings, maybe because of their background, stories and Sedona doesn’t fall short. The feelings between her and Jamison are deeply rooted and the kind time or distance can’t touch.
RFDYE is a perfect ending for a great series and quite a subtle transition for the upcoming Greenes of Sunrise Bay.
I have loved the Bailey family from the first time I opened book one of this series. Each book has been so engaging and it’s impossible not to fall in love with this family. With this being the last book in the series, I think it’s probably one of the ones I’ve been looking most forward to and it didn’t disappoint!
Sedona Bailey returned back to Lake Starlight eighteen months ago after walking out on her boyfriend and the father of her baby. She gave birth to Palmer and with the help of her family, she’s been raising her little girl in the town she grew up in. When her ex shows up in town, she’s not sure she’s ready to forgive him, but knows that her daughter deserves to have him in her life.
Jamison Ferguson has had a rough few years. He was a professional soccer player, but an injury ended that dream and unfortunately he fell into alcohol abuse. When Sedona took off nearly two years ago, Jamison was in such a bad way that it has taken until now for him to get himself to a point where he was ready to fight for his relationship with her and to get to know his daughter.
While Sedona knows she needs to let Jamison into Palmer’s life, she’s not so sure about him being in hers. There is no doubt she still loves him, but he hurt her and left her when she needed him the most. Can she forgive him or will she protect her heart instead?
So many good things happened in this book. It was a wonderful story that was centered on Jamison and Sedona, but we certainly didn’t have a shortage of the other Bailey’s! The one thing I will say is that this book does need to be read after you’ve read the other books in the series. You will definitely be happier if you do it that way!
While I know this is technically the end of the series, we have Operation Bailey Babies to look forward to later this year and I for one am happy we aren’t done with Alaska either with the new series Piper Rayne will be introducing to us soon!
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review**
I read an arc for this book. I loved it! It was the perfect ending to the Bailey series. Full of love and mischief. Sedona is such an amazing character. She’s strong, kind, loving, and an all around good person. Jamison was perfect for her. I’m so glad they got their HEA.
And there you have it folks 9 full books and 2 novellas later and all the Bailey siblings have their HEA. I have absolutely fallen in love with every single couple in this series but I do have some favorites, Rome and Harley and Colton and Juno, but Sedona and Jamison just took the top spot.
I absolutely love their second chance romance. There is just so much to love about this book but I don’t want to give anything away so I have to be careful.
I cannot imagine loving someone who suffers from addiction, I’ve never had to do it. It must be beyond difficult to watch them throw away their lives and to eventually leave them before they take you down with them. Sedona learned this 18 months ago when she walked away from the love of her life while very pregnant with their daughter. Now Jamison is back and she understandably is torn. She still loves him with everything she had but now she has her daughter. The way Jamison wins them both just goes right to the heart.
By the way I totally guessed that little secret there at the end, but not all along it took me until about half the books before it dawned on me but you just will have to read to figure that out.
I also love the way the way we were introduced to the new crew from Sunrise Bay. I think it’s going to be hard to beat the Bailey family though!
There is one more novella left for the Bailey’s and then it will be over…. until we get a 2nd gen. I did see the potential there already for Calista. Rome better be ready.
**I was generously provided with an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving my review**
