RULE BREAKER BY ACCIDENT By Ali Parker
This is the 3rd story in Ali Parker’s Summer Series. This brings us Olive and Rylen’s story. Olive is the last of the 3 friends, Olive, Valerie and Heidi to meet her love. Rylen is a successful cardiac surgeon at the hospital, who had a rough upbringing. When he is talked into going to a beach party with his nurse Edgar he meets Olive. They hit it off very swiftly. Olive meets a new friend Jenna who talks her into going from being a waitress to working as a lawyer assistant for her uncle. The legal firm has one important rule for employees, no dating clients. This is a really good read with a solid story line, these two have chemistry, and I would definitely recommend this book and this series. It is a 5 star read.
Left me with my jaw dropping
Olive, a waitress, gets a look at Rylen, a heart surgeon, when she is there for the birth of Heidi’s son. As the story progresses connections are made, a bubble is formed, and events from the past and present will burst it. Ali Parker’s latest book takes the series to the next level. The extreme curve she threw into the storyline left me with my jaw dropping and reaching for the tissues.
I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
Very fun, cool, and interesting
Great book, Loved the characters. I would recommend reading this book!
Loved the way this story started out. Rylen is a hot cardiac surgeon who is good at what he does and works long hours, Olive is a waitress until she figures out what she wants to do with her life. Olive and Rylen catch each others eye when Rylen comes into the waiting room to give a family an update on their loved one, and Olive is there to see her best friend who has just had a baby. A few things I liked about this book, love Rylen’s character. Hot, sexy surgeon who has no interest in a relationship, at least up until now. He has a big “secret” in his past that he’s not willing to share with anyone, or at least until Olive gets a job as a receiptionist at an attorney’s office. His nurse, Edgar, is great in the beginning, but I lost focus on his character when he suddenly had more interest chasing women and coming into work hung over. It’s not how his character starts out, so having him “suddenly” start screwing around and being unprofessional in his position as Rylen’s right hand man, just didn’t work for me. Olive started out a a good footing, but then she just got too insecure for me. First of all, who allows a customer (Jenna) to come into a workplace and tell her to sit down and take a break at a table you’re supposed to be waiting on? That scene just seemed to happen way to quickly, as well as the whole job offer without meeting anyone, just thought it needed more background before throwing it all at the reader like that. Things got a little better about 75% through, but by that time I had already skipped over quite a bit to get to the good parts. Ending was decent, overall not a bad book, just could use some tweaking on parts that seem incomplete.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
3.5
At last we get Olive’s story! This book was an enjoyable and easy to read. Main couple Rylen and Olive had a great chemistry. Their story had a perfect amount of sweet and steamy moments with some intringue added to keep your interest. But my complaint is that the drama felt unbelievable. It was a bit too far-fetched that a doctor would put himself in that kind of position, no matter his past.
Sad to see this series ending but can’t wait to see what Ali will bring up next!
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
Absolutely fantastic. An awesome love story. This book is so perfectly written, it almost makes you think it’s a fairytale. Rylen is definitely prince charming material. Their relationship goes from 0 to 60 in five seconds. They are falling for each other, and they are falling fast and hard. Will secrets and lies keep them apart or will they be able to work through it? A passionately beautiful and well told story. A storyline that will surprise and amaze you. I absolutely loved it.
Great mix of romance, drama and intrigue. Definitely a page Turner to the last word. Love reading about this group of friends and the ups and downs they have overcome. Very realistic!!!
The storyline was well written, the plot flowed smoothly from page to page and the characters were written with such great detail and depth that I felt like I was peeking through a window watching the relationship between Olive and Rylen evolve!
What another amazing story with this group of people. Rylen and Olive are this sweet and romantic coup,e that give us what we want to see and take us on this journey of self-discovery. You never see somethings coming but in the end it was all worth it. I hope that we get one more story and that’s Rayce. It will complete the seties. I am so amazed with every single story that it keeps me coming back for more. I give it 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader’s Copy.
Love this book!! I’m so glad I did! Rylen and Olive are a great couple. They first see each each other in the hospital where Rylen is a Doctor and Olive is in the waiting room with friends!! You need to read this I don’t want to give anything away. Except it’s a good story about two people learning to build a real relationship!
This is the third book in this series and is Olive’s story. She has watched her two best friends that moved with her to Florida find their partners. This is her turn. She meets Rylen and they begin a relationship. Rylen helps her have more confidence in herself and she leaves the diner to pursue a job as an assistant. One of the rules of her job is not to date clients. When she is returning from lunch one day, she sees Rylen leaving the building. He refuses to tell her what he was doing there and she breaks up with him. She does not want any secrets in their relationship. It was wonderful how this story brought all the characters together. Her friends tell her of their significant other’s pasts and how Rylen is connected. She forgives them and they find their HEA! A wonderful conclusion to this series! I received an advanced readers copy of this book and am gladly leaving my review.
Nice, easy read. Perfect for the beach. It has some intrigue and drama to keep it interesting but it doesn’t really take off until the second half of the book. I did enjoy that this story is the love story for the final girl in their circle of three friends, Olive. Her and Rylen are great together. Overall a nice, easy read that deserves a solid, if not slightly above, the 3 star rating that I am giving it. I received this book at no cost in exchange for my honest review.
This was a great story and I loved Rylen and Olive. Their chemistry was explosive and they were so great together. This is the third book in the series and the best in my opinion. The characters are strong and well-developed and the storyline is engaging. a great read. I read an arc and voluntarily chose to review.
Absolutely fantastic! A well written emotionally deep romance. The storyline is flawless, funny, witty, enjoyable, and very interesting. The story flows smoothly and moves along at a brisk pace with a few ups and downs and a mix of emotions on every page. The chemistry between them is intense and their love scenes are beautifully written and HOT!

4 stars
I received a free copy of the full length novel One Hot Summer book 3:RULE BREAKER BY ACCIDENT by Ali Parker and this review was given freely.
Drama, wonderful characters and realism are blended with the authors literary license to weave this twisted, complex and at times unethical conclusion to the series. The circle closes as new acquaintances and past friends meet. The introverted and virgin waitress Olive, the last of the NY transplanted trio, leaves her empty nest and finds her own reformed bad boy in the form of Heart surgeon Rylen, who just happened to have a past that involved Olive’s friends’ significant others.
This is a really intriguing story. Rylen met Olive in the hospital and he was captivated with her right off. Their journey is one that will have some bumps along the way but will secrets keep them from a happily ever after. This story will draw you in from the first page. I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.
I think this is my favorite of the three books in this series. I think that might have a lot to do with the fact that I was pretty sure from the very beginning that Olive would be my favorite of the three best friends. There’s a maturity about her that extends far beyond her young age. In the same way, Rylen has experienced more in his life than many people of a similar age. They’re both almost too responsible for their own good, and yet somehow, they manage to bring out the fun, playful side in each other. I love that we get to circle back with the previous couples and find answers for the last few remaining questions I had. Now, though, there’s a couple of secondary characters I’d like to see find their forever.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
