I recommend the entire series
I loved this book!
Such a sweet book. Characters are vulnerable and patient.
Now this is what I’m talking about. If only all romances could “live up” to their hype, but this one really does. Great read, lots of fun, it’s a keeper to read for a send, third and a fourth time!
I loved this book
Good plot. Quick read.
I am loving this series with it’s young ladies who learn to master their newly acquired ‘gifts’ and their handsome and strong men.
I found myself excited by the adventure of searching for a missing sister, appalled at the living conditions of the poorer members of that time and just generally being very happily entertained by a rather unusual story about two people who were falling in love and learning to care for each other.
Emily Larking has found a way to get you interested and involved in her story from the very beginning – and to keep you there until the very end of the book. I also found that I wanted the story to carry on, wanted to read about more exciting adventures that Miss Wrotham and her Mordecai were having together, but will rather have to patiently wait for the next book.
Really a beautifully told story and one that I am very happy to recommend.
This is the first book I’ve read by Ms. Larkin and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Taking the hero and heroine out of the usual ballrooms was such a pleasant surprise. I adored Mordecai Black. His reputation is not who the man really is and Nell gets to see a side of him that few know. Granted he looks dangerous with his dark good looks and his height, but he is more honorable than many of the noblemen of the ton. His concern for Nell’s reputation was admirable.
Ms. Larkin weaves a romance that was believable between Black and Nell along with a dose of mystery and danger. Mordecai Black has offered marriage to Nell nine days in a row. Would she finally realize that he was the one who would allow her spirit to soar or had she waited too long to accept his proposal? Not having read any of the previous books in the series did not affect my enjoyment reading this story, although it probably would have helped to understand the “magical” element in the book. Fans of Regency romance will definitely enjoy this story.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Great character and plot development.
Not your run of the mill romance- very good plot plus romantic elements.
I loved the magic wish from the fairy godmother. This was a unique historical romance with many plot twists. I bought another in this series immediately.
Interesting twists. Kept me engaged with the story. I’ve read one other Emily Larkin about changing into animals and I loved that one. Wish my library would have more of this author.
This is a new to me author and I’m hooked! I loved both characters. I especially loved how the heroine Nell turned Mordecai’s proposal on its head! The touch of magic was unnecessary but a fun addition. Definitely a keeper.
Great read!
I’ve read a lot of historical romance books so I get super excited when I finally find an author with a storyline that is a little different from most historical romances. I am going to be looking for and reading more by this author.
The book does have some PNR thrown in for good measure. Since this was book 4, I’m assuming the PNR element was described in past books. I just need to go back and read them. I thought it added a little more flair to the book.
The only complaint I had was with the sex scenes. There was just missing something….,I don’t know how to explain it. They were too fast or not enough detail. I don’t know. I still enjoyed the book.
Love this book! I found myself drawn into the story and characters immediately. Emily Larkin is a fantastic writer & I’m looking forward to reading more from her.
Loved it
Loved it!
Although part of a series, this story can be enjoyed without having read the previous books.
As in the first three books of this series, a young miss has the faerie Baletongue as her godmother. Here we have to wait a bit to learn if Nell will be granted the magical talent of her choice. Nearly 23, Miss Eleanor Wrotham is searching for her younger sister and crosses paths with Mordecai Black. He has been looking for Miss Wrotham. He offers his aid, which she – with limited resources – reluctantly accepts, although he is too bosy for her tastes. As in Trusting Miss Trentham, the reader joins them on their travels away from London in search of Sophia. During their time together Nell learns Mordecai’s reputation does not reflect his true character. He is very persistent in trying to win her affection.
The overall mood is serious and our H and h are confronted with a few dangerous characters and situations. I liked the appearance and mention of some characters from the previous books, who help bring the search to an end. This story kept me turning the pages.

My Thoughts:
I have read other books in this series but to me this was the best one yet.
The characters are memorable and the storyline well thought out and developed.
Mordecai and Eleanor’s story, book #5 of this series is an unforgettable mixture of mystery, love, magic and the heroine’s ability to trust the actions of an overbearing hero.
Although part of a continuing series this book reads well as a standalone. There are a couple of repeat characters but knowing their story is not an essential element to the enjoyment of this book.
I gave this book 4.5 of 5 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 4 of 5 flames.
It is not necessary to read the other titles in this series to enjoy this read.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book from the author/publisher via NetGalley to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
