Y’all… you’ve got to read this!
Edward the bastard that he is, has totally stolen my heart. Oh I could slap him… because making up with him would be so much fun.
This series isn’t a to make you feel sorry for Celia but it gives you insight to why she is the way she is and Edward is helping her heal. He has some messed up ways to do that but he definitely loves her. I can see more now why she’s such a vile person and yes my heart does hurt for her.
This has been such a great little series and I’m so excited to see where it takes us next. Wonderful!

5 Phenomenal stars and that’s not even enough.
Having read the ‘Fixed’ series by Laurelin Paige, in which Celia features heavily, but not well, I truly never thought I would come to like this character. Well, I’m not above admitting I was wrong. Very wrong. I don’t just like Celia, I loved her. Maybe not adore… not yet, that’s sure to come as we are only halfway through this quartet. She’s finally opening my eyes to the hurts of the woman (and girl) beneath the hurtful nastiness she spewed forth in the previous books.
Ruin takes us down some jittery, lonely and sometimes painful paths for Celia. She’s not the vengeful woman we all cast her as. She’s warm, she’s caring… she’s passionate. And she is falling in love.
Edward Fassbender ended Rivalry on one heck of a cliffhanger. Nobody saw that coming, certainly not Celia and we got to feel her horror and anguish at Edward’s threats to her safety. Her very life in fact.
But, even he has grown. Not just in my estimation and regard, but in stature and compassion. He was out for total revenge before… and now? Now, he too is under the thrall of feelings he knows he shouldn’t be having toward his wife. Yes, he’s still a jackass and a devil, Celia’s very own description of the man. But, he’s so purely alpha, dominating and thoroughly sexy with it. Is it any wonder neither we or Celia can resist him for long. In saying that. I need part 3 like yesterday. I need all the words, all the answers and I need them now. Pretty please with a cherry on top and whipped cream for Edward to tease Celia with!!
Never in a million years did I think I would break my girl code with Alayne and want to save that witch of a women. But the way Laurelin has brought her into our lives and made her into an actual person with feelings, hopes and desires makes my heart begin to melt for her. Yes as for the dragonslayer I have a need to save her. Edward is so cruel at time but then I see there is a method to his madness. But it doesn’t make it any easier to watch him break Celia. I’m anxiously waiting to see what Edward has in store for her or hopefully what she has in store for him. I’m also interested in finding out just what secrets Edward is hiding. Hurry Ms. Paige I need more of the Dragonslayer!
Damn it, Laurelin Paige. You did it. You made me feel for Celia, which is something I didn’t think could happen, not even after the first book in this quartet. I don’t know if it was seeing her from Edward’s point of view or seeing inside her head, but it happened. I’m so excited to see them team up together for a common enemy and I can’t imagine how they’ll destroy him, but I’m sure it’ll be awe-inspiring.
And the mystery continues….how Laurelin Paige manages to get in these characters’ headspace is beyond me! Revelations and secrets become unveiled in this sophomore edition of this Slay series. Shocked doesn’t begin to describe how this book has left me. Raw emotion is scattered throughout, and cruelty left me scorned on Celia’s behalf.
This part of this series opens up a slew of possibilities of which direction this story can go. You really begin to understand the foundation of why exactly Edward and Celia are who they are, along with why they’ve done what they’ve done. Laurelin Paige really captures the darkness of this pair perfectly by re-opening old wounds and painful memories. And even then, you feel such mixed emotions towards them. Still not knowing whether you should empathize with them, you are left with an unsettling feeling about them both.
This story is riveting. It’s brutally addicting, and has me on the edge awaiting the fate of their relationship. I’m left wondering what is to become of them both. The jury is still out. I am definitely saving space on my Kindle for Revenge, the next in the Slay series. If you haven’t started this series, you NEED TO! You will ask yourself why you hadn’t sooner.
WOW nothing will prepare you for this all the twists and turns and layers a upon layers of lies and truths that go very deep into the past and might just crush you. I love the way Edward does his sessions and puts Celia on the spot her not knowing what’s coming next.
The plans change and feelings are coming it was intense on every page not knowing what was coming next is this real or not. These two together will blow your mind.
Wickedly sensual, thrilling and at times brutal, this book is writing brilliance.
Heating up the pages is what Laurelin Paige does best and after reading Slay:Ruin you will be feeling heat.
Celia and Edward’s story continues in a way I never thought it would play out. Could Celia, the one we love to hate be redeemed? Only time will tell. Will the devil himself Edward, be the one to put an end to Celia and her game playing ways? Again only time will. Slay: Ruin is a book of revelations about both Celia and Edward. Their pasts will be revealed garnering us a look and a better understanding of both of them and the paths they have travelled that have led them to this point in time.
This story is full of gripping twists, tantalising turns and a web of intrigue which will leave you squirming in your seat and praying to the gods of orgasmic highs for the next one.
I’m trying to find the words, but seriously, I’m almost speechless. Almost. This book did what I never thought possible. It elicited empathy and emotions from me for its leading lady that I never saw coming. More than once, my heart broke for her. As if that wasn’t enough, this book actually made me feel something, other than distrust and anger, for its leading man. I believe I might actually have a bit of a crush on him! Once again, Laurelin Paige wields her mighty pen and immense talent giving us the second book in Celia and Edward’s story and completely captivating us with the unexpected, the unimaginable, and the unthinkable. I hung on every word in this book, visualizing, anticipating, salivating at what was happening and what was to come. This series will keep you riveted and reading well into the night, leaving you completely sated, breathless and desperate by morning for Book #3. Do not miss it!
Once again Laurelin has written a phenomenal book. Ruin is book 2 and you definitely need to read Rivalry which is book 1 first. At first I didn’t really care for Celia but since reading book 2 she has grown on me. Edward is just a sexy alpha male who sometimes pisses me off but then gets back in my good graces. Lots of truth come to light in Ruin. I’m excited to see how the next book plays out
Elena Wolfe and Shane East’s performance is so deep and intense, that left my emotions raw and my mind reeling. Besides, the panty-melting British accent is to swoon over it.
In addition, their pleasant sounding voices, makes of this audiobook a delightful listening experience. It was just utterly brilliant how they brought this story to life.
I just wish, Shane East dialogue had been a bit longer. However, lets pray that he gets a much longer dialogue and chapters in future installments.
If you haven’t start this mind-blowing series, take my humble advice and don’t waste more time. Grab your copy today!!
What would you be getting out of this:
A passionate story
Hot sex
Suspense
Mystery
Lies, Secrets, but above all, a British alpha-male who is to die for. (Poor Celia, because this may become real)
I got the chance to read this extraordinary installment, and let me tell you that Edward and Celia’s story is full of anguish, passion, secrets, lies, deception, lust, and much more. Is no denying the electric attraction between Edward and Celia.
There’ll be a revelation about Celia’s tortured past that you won’t see coming and is going to leave you reeling and speechless.
All in all, this has been such an amazing, skillful, gripping, intense, intriguing, and captivating listen/read!
When I started reading I couldn’t put it down.Laurelin Paige is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can’t wait for the next book.
Celia Werner is an only child. She working as an interior designer. She’s been manipulative often exploiting the weaknesses of others. Then she meet a man named Edward Fasbender.
Just WOW!!! Edward and Celia have definitely met their match! Both with damaged pasts, they find ways to one up one another which is really fun reading! This book was so unpredictable and I couldn’t have loved it more. Laurelin has this talent for creating alpha males like no other. Strong, broody males that are arrogant and sexy as hell!! Be prepared for an all nighter ladies because RUIN is impossible to put down!!!! (and the ending is a killer)
Slay : Ruin is book two in Celia and Edward’s story. Surprisingly, I actually like Celia more in this book. Edward was still arrogant and a possessive dominant alpha male. I think he is exactly the type of man Celia needs. Can’t wait to read #3!
As painful confessions and truths are revealed between Edward and Celia, so are more deep-seated emotions.
As Edward, the devil himself, sought to break the character I once despised – Celia, in ways I never could have imagined, I felt as though a piece of me was breaking too.
I have quickly and absolutely become enamored by both Celia and Edward. Celia, a character I once loathed has now become one in which I am rooting for page by page, and one with whom I cannot get enough.
No other book has made me change my view of characters so drastically as Slay: Ruin. Likewise, no other book has broken me down only to give me hope at putting me back together. This book, these books are simply Paige’s best work yet!
If you dare to pick up this book; prepare to be Slayed.
As Always, Happy Reading!
“5/5 Beaming Brains” – Lit-Up My Mind
WOW!!!!!! I did not see this one coming!! I swear, I didn’t think another book could knock me on my behind (after Slay 1) but leave it to Laurelin to do exactly that!! My mind was blown. This series has been absolutely incredible. I could not put it down. Edward and Celia fascinate me, Celia has most definitely turned me from a hater, and I did not think that was possible for that character!! I have been consumed by them and their story. It is dark, passionate, captivating, and mind blowing. Basically, the writing is unbelievable 🙂
4.5 stars. This one had me on the edge of my seat the whole time as I soaked in every word. Finally! A peek into Edward’s head. He seems so complicated, and I already knew he wasn’t a simple man. Yet, in certain ways, he really isn’t all that different another guy in terms of what he needs and wants except to strip Celia down to her core. I was able to understand his motivations more and from this book, it’s clearer what his end game is although the goal has obviously changed. As for the chemistry between Celia and Edward, it’s constant fireworks despite the prickliness between them. And Celia has a lot to atone for, but at the same time, the vulnerable woman underneath demands to be seen and heard and held. She is really becoming a woman worth rooting for although I already saw the changes in her from Fixed Forever and am appreciating the ability to be a witness on her journey to get there. Laurelin Paige doesn’t disappoint with the surprises and twists, I loved them all, especially towards the end in a certain scene that had my jaw dropping inconceivably. Looking back, Edward always has something up his sleeve and is several steps ahead at all times. However, when he is being completely transparent, there’s something rather irresistible about him. I’m really looking forward to seeing what it’s in store for this duo next.
This book RUINED me. I DEVOURED this book and was left craving more!
I didn’t think it was possible to like or even love Celia. My heart broke for her. There is so much more to her story than I could have ever guessed. She is a fighter and a survivor. Edward may be the devil, but he’s a devil you can’t help but love. He is an alpha male, but there is a nurturing side to him and we got to see more of that side throughout this story. Though there were times were I hated him right along with Celia (especially during a certain trip but he made up for it.
Edward had a plan going into their marriage, however, his plans changed and throughout this book they continued to change. There was something about Celia that drew him in, that captivated him. She was felt the same when it came to Edward, she wants to be afraid of him, she wants to hate him, but there’s something in her that draws her to him. These two have CHEMISTRY that is kindle melting HOT. Talk about steam.
Edward is determined to break Celia. He demands honesty, but Celia isn’t one to share her games and her past with anyone for fear of judgement. Can Edward slowly break down those walls? Will he ruin Celia?
Slay: Ruin is captivating, addicting and full of twists and turns you’ll not expect. I can’t wait to see how Edward and Celia’s story continues.
Okay, so right now, like this minute, I am sitting squarely on the why the frikk is this story being told in four parts?!?! I need it to end like yesterday LOL And please don’t misunderstand and think it’s because it’s dragging for dragging because it isn’t but it’s .. a lot.
I am almost 90% certain on the reason for the whole four-part thing NOW that I’ve read Ruin. The title of the third installment plus Edward’s last words pretty much paint a picture but I’m not counting my chickens just yet, if you know what I mean.
Ruin was … unexpected. That’s the best I can tell you. Edward is … weirdly fascinating and a little bit scary LOL This entire journey is weirdly captivating and addictive. I am fully invested and all in. Not only because I’ve already read two parts, of course I’m gonna finish now, but because I believe in Edward and Celia. I am rooting for them. I want to hug them at the finish line, sort of speak. And if I know one thing for certain is it ain’t over till it’s over and it’s gonna get worse before it gets better. Bet me.

Sidenote: You know that saying about hitting rock bottom … yeah, this story, in all its parts, is exactly that.
RUIN: SLAY by Laurelin Paige is book 2 in the Slay Quartet Series. This continues the story of Celia Werner and Edward Fasbender, so you should read the previous book “Slay: Rivalry” first. Edward had plans for Celia but what is actually happening isn’t what he was counting on. Celia isn’t the person he thought her to be nor are his feelings ones that he is familiar with. Celia has tries to be strong in the hardship that is her life but with Edward she starts to feel things to that she doesn’t know how or what to do with but the more they spend together both of their walls are falling down.
This is a edge of your seat read for me.
4.25 stars–SLAY: RUIN is the second instalment in Laurelin Paige’s contemporary, adult SLAY dark, erotic romance quartet focusing on businessman/billionaire media mogul Edward Fasbender, and Celia Warner. The SLAY Quartet is a spin-off from the author’s FIXED series, and falls in the timeline before Fixed Forever and a few years after Forever with You. SLAY: Ruin should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events of book one SLAY: Rivalry.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be some triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Celia and Edward) SLAY: RUIN follows the building but acrimonious relationship between businessman/billionaire media mogul Edward Fasbender, and Celia Warner. Several weeks earlier Edward Fasbender propositioned Celia Warner in an effort to regain control of his life, and that of the woman with whom he would fall in love but Celia is a game player, and she is about to enter into a game of which she has no control. Left alone for weeks to months at a time, on a Caribbean island with only Edward’s staff for companionship, Celia will discover that Edward’s power and control is beyond anything she could have imagined. Edward’s primary directive is to break the woman he married, and by breaking Celia, Edward will gain domination and command of her body and soul. What ensues is the tempestuous relationship, and sexually charged romance between Edward and Celia, and the potential fall-out as Celia reveals her past, a past that will affect Edward’s direction and intent, going forward.
Celia Warner plays with people’s lives ultimately destroying those in an attempt to regain control of her life but the past cannot be fixed, and in this Celia’s desperate need to win at all costs, will cost her her own freedom when Edward Fasbender takes control of her heart and her life.
SLAY: RUIN is a story of betrayal and revenge; power and control. Edward Fasbender is determined to break out story line heroine but in doing so realizes that Celia Warner is broken beyond repair. Never expecting to fall in love, Edward and Celia will come to terms in an effort to destroy someone else. The premise is intriguing and captivating; the characters are strong, resilient, broken and flawed; the romance struggles in the face of vengeance and determination but the author’s use of a certain four letter word is unnecessary and detracts from my overall reading enjoyment .
