Another intense, gripping and gritty story. I was totally hooked from the beginning. The story continued to pull me in and keep me on the edge of my seat as it continues to keep me on emotional journey. As their story unravels the more and more you start loving the characters and understand them. Can’t wait for more.
This book ruined me in the best way! 5 stars
The beginning/introduction of this book is a revelation! Edward is so cagey, & it is both fascinating as it is frustrating to both Celia and me! By the end of the book, Edward made me swoon which I didn’t think would be possible! The unraveling and ruination of Celia by Edward is mesmerizing to read, and I felt for her so much her. Her past and how she saw herself made me cry several times. Celia’s journey in this book was exciting to read, and I can’t wait to read more about her in the next book. The revealing of both Edward and Celia’s past/secrets was intense and enthralling to read. Their chemistry and love story was just as enthralling to read. This book ruined me in the best way, because I was captured by Celia and Edward’s story and felt every emotion along with them. I highly recommend this brilliant book and series!
I received a copy of this ebook from Candi Kane PR for my honest review.
Ruin by Laurelin Paige was a slow burn for me. I wanted to know all the why’s and what’s right away. But Laurelin will draw the story line out. Just how Edward captivates Celia, keeping the anticipation at an all time high! I flipping loved it all! I could not put this book down. You finally see the true Celia for who she is and what breaks her. Its not what you will think!
When I first started to read the Slay Quartet, I saw red every time Celia appeared. Now, well she kind of broke my heart. I cannot wait for the next book in this series because I need MORE!!
A hot raw and intense alpha male in Edward that can be a devil. Celia a herione that is unforgettable that continues having secrets. A excellent spin-off of the Fix series. I totally recommend reading this book without a doubt.
This series is beyond perfect. Ruin is book 2 from the Slay series. More is to come, which makes this sooo exciting. There is so much to tell from Celia story, but I always knew her story was going to epic. I truly didn’t think I would be a Celia fan after reading The Fixed series, but Laurelin is doing such an amazing job at giving us her story. I think it’s so perfect and really things couldn’t be better than the direction this story is going.
I was super excited I wasn’t left opened and broken, yet I’m still left with questions and I know I’ll find myself trying to figure out more and what’s to come. In this story I’m not going to lie I found myself being scared. I would pray please NO don’t let this be, I found myself at the edge of seat at times! Like I was really feeling the moments. My heart was pumping so much that I felt Celia feelings to my core. It’s like I was right there experiencing her feels as well.
With Edward we do get a little more but not much. Yet you can’t help not fall in love with him. He’s perfect for Celia, he is exactly who she needs.
I love getting lost in anything Laurelin. She always leaves me full of excitement and enjoyable reading moment no matter how she breaks me, how she scares but she fills me up with all these good mix emotions!
Can’t wait for what’s to come.
The Ending had caused the chilled effect on me. Edward and Celia were un-deniable. I have never thought Edward would go to such length with Celia. The mind games were not senseless and it had some surprising move. I do love the persistance between the two.. The mind games and tensions were risky and it played well with emotions… Celia wasnt the best portrait character in the past with here.. I loved the woman she is right now.
Edward, my devil charmer with the suit.. A man with vengeance and persistance. Im seeing haunted past.. Edward had me smile so much. He had painted the story alive and yes I am the clueless lady who had fallen inlove. I do .. Love wasnt part of the story.. here I am along with Celia
When this landed on my kindle I just had to read it after the cliffhanger at the end of book one and we pick up right where it left off.
Celia is trying to get her thoughts together after what Edward has just revealed and doesn’t quite believe him. Edward is seeing something more in her and wants to break her down to be her true self. What he does from here is smart, calculated and her only choice for survival.
Edward leaves Celia on the island so that he can start breaking her down. While reading everything that she goes through when on the island, basically the whole book is based there, I came to enjoy Celia. Slowly her hard exterior started to melt away to leave the true Celia behind, it was remarkable writing and Paige captures the emotions of it well.
Celia. She was the bitch everyone hated but I think once you read this book, your perception will change, there was reasons as to why she became the hard manipulative person she became. I completely felt for her, the hurt, the heartbreak and I even cheered for her. Although this book was mainly Edward dominating her, bringing her down, when she turned a corner I was happy she started to demand things for herself and that’s the Celia we all love to hate!
Edward. He’s a hard one, hard exterior, manipulator, controlling and so very alpha and yet he slowly made his way into my heart. I truly believed he was helping and falling in love with Celia despite his cruel ways.
I loved this read, the angst, suspense and the burning chemistry hooked me right in. Although we still have two books to go in this series, there was no cliffhanger with this one and I’m intrigued to see where things go between Celia and Edward and already looking forward to book three!

Loving this hot and thrilling series! Can’t wait to read more! <3
After finishing Slay: Part One, I was itching to dive into book two!! Please make sure you read book one in this series BEFORE diving into Ruin, as there is a MAJOR cliffhanger at the end of book one.
This book was great. It was filled with psychological mind games that Edward loved to test Celia with. I loved being able to see inside of his head of what he was really thinking and feeling.
I had so many emotions while reading this book, it felt like an emotional roller coaster ride. I was angry but compassionate. Sad but so so floored. I grieved and I loved.
Although this book was a little slow at first, it picked up about halfway through. It’s more mind games than romance, which is fine because it is CRUCIAL information for the rest of Edward and Celia’s story.
I can’t wait to see where Laurelin takes this story next. 3.5 stars.
Breaking Her Down
This story SLAYED ME! I am Edward obsessed! I truly was hooked from the very first page. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect after the end of book one, so this story surprised me.
Edward has a plan. He never expected Celia. He thought he knew what he was getting when he married her, but she was so much more. He needs to have total control. He yearns for her complete submission.
The plan changes as Edward uncovers more about Celia. He’s now determined to take her body, mind and soul. The only way for him to gain complete devotion is to break her down. He wants everything and he’ll do what needs to be done to strip her bare.
Celia has never had someone give her positive attention. To invest time and effort into caring for her. She is wary, but more than that she craves the intimacy. She desires approval and acceptance more than anything. However, she fears the truth of her secrets. Sharing her games with anyone leaves her open to judgment, something she’s not sure that she’s strong enough to withstand. Edward won’t accept anything less than complete and total honesty.
Once I started I could not put this story down. I wasn’t sure what secrets they both held or what turn this story would take. Edward is captivating. He is methodical and pensive. He is demanding yet nurturing. He was a contradiction in the best way. At times I wanted to pummel him right beside Celia. He evokes strong emotions.
A story of self-discovery, revelations, forgiveness and acceptance. This series has hooked me completely. The only problem is waiting for the next book in the series.
AHHHH! I was super excited to read the second installment to Celia Werner and Edward Fasbender’s story after that crazy cliffhanger ending in the first book! I loved being in Edward’s head as we could honestly see that Celia was the landmine that blew up his life. All his plans and preconceived notions went to hell as she proved that she was nothing he expected and everything he wanted. Likewise, Edward was the break in the cycle of games Celia systematically played in the past. He represented a new beginning and someone worth taking a chance on.
Lord was Slay: Ruin an absolute trip. I swear Laurelin Paige had me on a rollercoaster ride this entire book. I took deep breaths, screamed in frustration and wanted to throw my kindle quite a few times. But this story had me feeling all the emotions and then some. Edward and Celia were one of the most tumultuous couples ever. They were sexy and fiery and I was here for it! But I did find that for every step forward they took, there was a step back. Celia and Edward’s story was brilliant in that it caused an emotional overload where all I could do was feel. I was angry and ragey at times and then overcome with sadness and sympathy for Celia and all that she experienced in her past.
Overall, while this installment progressed their story immensely, I did feel like Slay: Ruin was less of a romance and more of a psychological warfare story. It was filled to the brim with mindgames and twists and turns and Edward’s experiments on Celia and how she evolved from them. I seriously can not wait for the next installment! 4 stars! ~Ratula
4.5 Stars!
Celia Werner is supposed to be on her honeymoon, but instead she finds herself trapped on an island by a man determined to break her down. Edward Fasbender is an intense, controlling, arrogant, manipulative alpha male in every way. He was a calculating predator, and she was clearly out of her league. She knew she should probably fear him, but she wasn’t afraid. Instead he made her feel alive. She’d been empty for so long, and he was bringing passion back into her life. She hated how her body betrayed her when he was near. He was infuriating, and wanted her to give up all power. She soon learned fighting him was useless, as he dominated her at every turn. She wanted him desperately with an intense need she’d never felt before. She could no longer bury her emotions. She was falling for her captor, as he made her feel things, and seemed to be the only person who truly saw her. She could see a future with him, but wasn’t sure if she’d get a happy ending. Would he be her salvation or her destruction?
Edward Fasbender couldn’t believe Celia had actually accepted his ridiculous proposal. Now he was stuck in paradise with his defiant wife, and prepared to show her who is in charge. He had a revenge scheme to play out, and was the king of playing games. He was okay with the darkness he held inside. Anger and regret were his old friends. He thought he had Celia all figured out, but suddenly her walls were tumbling down, and she was real and vulnerable. He didn’t quite know what to do with that. Caring about her was never part of his plan. He was overwhelmed and conflicted about his feelings, and could feel himself changing. She’d made him feel too much of everything. There was a new honesty between them and emotions were out of control. In the end will he choose to love her, or ruin her?
Ruin, Slay 2 by Laurelin Paige is the second book in the Slay Quartet, and should be read after Slay One: Rivalry. It’s a sexy, emotional, enemies to lovers twisted tale of vengeance and desire. It’s captivating, unpredictable, and packed with unbelievable chemistry. This couple is on fire as they face off in the ultimate battle of wills. I just loved this story, and can’t wait for book three!
After Celia & Edward’s first book end on a cliff hanger, I needed the next installment. I was not a fan of these two characters in the beginning, but they won me over in this book! I was drawn in the first page and couldn’t stop reading.
Celia & Edward were two characters I didn’t think that I would ever like let alone love. I have to say that Celia & Edward both surprised me while reading. Their journey so far has not been easy to say the least, but it was worth it.
I can’t wait to read more by Laurelin Paige.
I voluntarily reviewed this book.
Well, hell! What a story this turned out to be! I feel like I was just put through the ringer.
What started out as a cat and mouse game between Celia and Edward quickly became something more sinister and serious. I went through a myriad of emotions through every aspect of this story. The most prominent being hate and empathy.
If I’m being honest, I’ve dispelled my hatred and distrust of Celia. I know, I know, this is Celia. We’ve seen what she’s capable of. But there is so much more to her. And watching her transformation has been quite magnificent. Laurelin Paige’s detailed writing is giving us everything of Celia. Literally ALL of her. She is being flayed.
I spent a good portion of the beginning of this story in deep hatred of Edward. I found him egotistical and, quite frankly, a jackass. However, smoke and mirrors. His ways may different, but as his layers are also slowly being peeled, we start to see the other side of him. He may be ruthless and just may be the “devil” sometimes referred to as, but in his own way he is not only loving, but he cares deeply. And uncovering that part of him just may be one of the hardest parts to grasp. I do, however, what to see him just as vulnerable to Celia as she’s been with him. I want to know more of him. I want in his head.
Moment of truth. There are two very significant parts to this story for me that had emotions bubbling over. It takes a lot to make me cry in a story, but there is a moment about halfway through that is a very poignant part to this story. Celia gets a voice and she shook me. The scene is so raw and filled with emotion that I could feel it bleeding from the pages.
I’m anxious to see where this is going to go and how it’s going to move forward. I want to see Celia come to terms with everything. She is finally finding peace. With the next title being Revenge, it’s a little worrisome for her emotions, but definitely makes me anxious.
This story is about forgiveness and acceptance. It’s deep and raw and written with exquisite precision that will steal your breath.
“It’s okay to be scared. Just don’t be so scared you miss out on the good stuff.”
Wowsa!! Laurelin achieved the impossible. She made me care about Celia. Gasp! There were moments in this book when my heart broke for her. Edward is the epitome of a true alpha. Everything about him screams power and control. Together they were just explosive. My heart was pounding reading this one and I gasped out loud more than once!
Absolutely LOVED this one! Definitely recommend.
This book had me on tender hooks throughout. I don’t know at what part I actually started to hold by breath. Laurelin Paige is at her explosive best in this series. I have no idea where it’s going, no idea what Edwards agenda is but one thing I know, I’m in for the ride of my life!!
This book is heartfelt, raw, full of emotions. Celia practically laid herself bare in the emotional sense to Edward , Edward is still very cagey and holding his cards very close to his chest. The writing is so emotive you can feel everything, from both characters. I had chills at some of Ceila’s memories.
Edward is a very complex character and I actually think I like him more than Hudson and that’s going some because Hudson has held a place in my heart for a few years now. I can’t wait to see what’s in store next for these two!!
I clearly remember the day when this author asked if she should write a book about Celia Werner. I laughed out loud. I’ve read everything Laurelin has written more than once in some cases and wondered how I was going to tell her this would be a hard no for me. How could she possibly redeem the unredeemable. This woman ruthlessly hurt Hudson & Alayna. But being Laurelin, I was intrigued and at the very least I figured she would just make her more unlikeable. Oh I have been put in my place. I will never again be so bold as to think the Queen could be misguided. Rivalry (Slay Book 1) gave us a glimpse at the cat & mouse game between Celia and Edward Fasbender. It was fun to see who was more wicked than the other for fleeting moments but it appeared at the conclusion that Edward held all the cards. Why, partly because we started to see a part of Celia we never saw before. A woman with emotions, vulnerability, secrets and needs and yup we started to like her. And then bam Edward pulls the cliff hanger card and it’s back on despising him. That is until Ruin (Slay Book 2).
This book is my complete undoing. I was so frustrated with Edward but then completely falling in love with him at the same time as I guess Celia was also. The entirety of the book shifts and their relationship evolves as a result. Celia transforms like a butterfly in a chrysalis. It’s not an easy change for either of them which makes it more genuine. I love everything about book #2, the good, bad, hard, sorrow, grief, funny, sexy and I am so very excited to see what these two are planning for book #3. This will be your easiest 1 click new release!!!!
I thought I was ready for Ruin, the second book in the Slay quartet by the fabulous Laurelin Paige, but I was not mentally or emotionally ready for this book. Ms Paige’s writing is captivating and consumed me like always. I don’t want to ruin the story for anyone but it’s a must read. I am dying for Revenge.
I had been waiting for this book for a while. It is full of so many delicious twists and turns. You think you know all of Edward’s motivations, or how Celia will respond (based on previous knowledge and history), but that is so far from the truth. Laurelin draws you in, only to surprise and shock you. This series is so good! I can’t wait for the next installment.
I am totally speechless, in a good way though. This book was amazing. You get so many sides in this book. Oh my for Edward. He was starting to make me mad but I learned to love him. I hated Celia at first but I have grown to love her as well. I was mad with her for the way Edward was being towards her. Powerful man versus a woman who is use to of getting her way all the time. Who do you think is going to win the battle? Definitely learn a lot from these two throughout this book. A fantastic read and can’t wait for the next book. Highly, highly recommend reading this book/series. I need to know what happens next. This book keeps you on your toes. You are trying to guess what happens next and I was totally mind blown. Another awesome read, Laurelin Paige.
