I am a HUGE fan of the Fixed Universe and love, love, love Hudson Pierce and have hated Celia Werner. THEN, I read the second book in the Slay quartet and not only like her, but feel sorry for her. Celia and Edward’s story is definitely a complicated one. Edward wants to marry Celia to gain control of her father’s company. Celia wants to play one more game. As the story continues, Edward holds his wife captive on his private island in the Bahamas to break her as part of his plan to take over her father’s company. During the course of a year, we learn much about the characters and follow them on a path neither expected. Hudson is still my #1, but Edward Fassbender is definitely high on my list of alphas. I can’t wait for the third book. Congratulations, Laurelin, you did it again!!!!
Ruin (Slay Book 2)
Laurelin Paige just blew my mind and I am now Ruined!
This explains so much about Celia and what happened to shape her into the girl we all loved to hate. Even though in Rivalry I had moved my alliance over to Celia after Edward told her he was going to kill her, I thought shit! What! She isn’t her father and Edward is just an ass!
As he slowly broke her down and exposed things that we as readers had not known about her in the Fixed Series it becomes very apparent that Celia was broken before Edward got to her. What she needed was someone to fix her.
Can Edward actually do that though or will he take her so far over the edge who she once was gets totally lost?
This is a dangerous dance they are both playing and if it comes right down to it, can the Devil and the Lady actually draw and both end up winning?
Slay: Ruin is definitely an intense second book to the Slay Quartet. Psychological and intense, it takes both our main characters and breaks them down and opens them up.
Although there are intimate scenes, they are few and far between but they are definitely sexy. This book is more about the characters themselves. Their psyches, emotions and past traumas. It is so well done, I was transfixed.
I loved getting to know the vulnerable side of Celia. It’s not just one scene, but many of her sharing and then shedding the vile build up from past trauma and history.
It is the story of the feeling and the unfeeling and how together they are learning to just be.
Hudson and Celia have met their match In each other.
Hudson’s power and command over Celia are all encompassing. He is more than a match for her. The tension between them is exciting and thrilling.
Celia has been immune to feeling for so long and now Hudson is bringing out every emotion. Passion, pain, desire, anger, regret and so many more.
She hates feeling vulnerable and exposed. He does nothing but make her feel that way, which is exactly what she needs. He is breaking her down piece by piece and begins to mold her. Make no mistake, she has a hold on him as well. There is also an intimacy between them that is built up. It’s all so very intricate, interesting and well done. It’s psychologically intense.
Hudson thinks he has her all figured out but she still has her secrets.
Ruin is so thrilling and verged on taking me out of my comfort zone. I LOVE IT!
I received an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This Author has ruined me !!! but i’ll explain why….
This book begins where the first left off, Edward informing his new wife Celia that he would kill her!!
Talk about explosive??
I really didn’t want to like Celia, after all she isn’t nor has been a likeable person at any time. But i have to say his statement did make me smile a little, has Celia met her match!!
I really was in tender hooks, i had no idea where this book was going to lead us, and i couldn’t wait to get from one page to the other. At times i felt Edward really was just a cruel, cold ba****d. But he was peeling back the layers of Celia, and damn it, this is where Laurelin Paige ruined me!! I began to feel for Celia, i began to feel i could understand this woman and i began to Love Edward. I felt like this story brought us so deep into the very soul of Celia Werner, and i couldn’t control my emotions. Oh Edward, i feel so deep for this man, willing to do what ever it took to get to the bottom of this woman, to free her from her demons!! From beginning to end, I was emotionally gripped. Slay is the perfect title for this book and i was definitely Slayed by their story. I can’t wait for more!!!
I am in awe of Laurelin Paige’s ability to craft a riveting and intense story. Slay: Ruin is perfection, plain and simple. It’s Part 2 of Edward and Celia’s story, and what a story it is! Love ’em or hate ’em, this pair seems made for each other.
The depth of pain and heartache in Celia’s past is gutwrenching. It’s led her on a path of emotional destruction…her own, and anyone foolish enough to get in her way. She’s not an easy character to love, but if anyone can sway me, it’s Laurelin Paige. By the end of this book, I’m Team Celia all the way.
And then there’s Edward. Swoonworthy, commanding and brutal, he definitely doesn’t show Celia too much mercy. But maybe, just maybe, he’s not quite as cold and distant as he first appears… (did I mention he’s completely mesmerizing?)
This book is a one-click worthy masterpiece!

Book #2!
We all remember the amazingly shocking cliffy with which book #1 ended!!!
Is Edward really serious?
Celia doesn’t know, but she’s a little scared. Or a lottle.
But she’s also still so very attracted to him. The bastard. She hates him! LOL!
We spend a LOT of time on Edward’s island in the Caribbean this time. Basically it’s the only place we get to see. Celia is alone most of the time – which is part of Edward’s plan to …
I have no idea where this story is going.
I just hope we’ll get that happy end at the end of book #4, but I have NO idea how we’ll get there!
I really loved reading this. It was a bit … slower? Creepier than last time.
It was also sexy, sparky, crazy, frustrating & heartbreaking. I love Edward and Celia. I love them together. Even though Edward has all these weird ideas for her. But I really hope I’m right in thinking that he has a plan for her – and not a bad one!!!
And this time we don’t really end in a cliffy – or if it is one, then it’s one we can definitely live with until the next book comes out! I can’t wait for book #3 to land on my kindle – even though I’m not really sure why there have to be four books!!!!??? I’m not really a fan of book series. Only when all books are already out! I’m really bad remembering things with my booksalzheimers!
SLAY TWO: RUIN was a great 2nd book in this crazy & sexy quartet! I can’t wait to see where Celia and Edward will take us in the next books! Hurry to your nearest amazon asap – Edward will be sold out in no time!!!
Laurelin Page has once again blown my mind!
Celia and Edward are twisted AF!
I can’t even describe their relationship.
I’m sitting here stunned at the ending.
I need book 3.

The plot thickens and Celia is left on the island but will Edward forget she is there? This one is full of more twisty goodness and sexy fun to keep it fresh. Definitely want to find out what happens next.
Blown away. This story is only getting better and better. I said this when I reviewed Slay. Laurelin Paige did something I did not think was possible. The more I read in this series the more I am kicking myself for not reading it sooner. Why did I ever doubt Ms. Paige could get me to love and be consumed with the story of a villain. I think Celia was possibly my most hated villain in any story I have ever read. And Laurelin Paige and her words have made her out to be one of my most favorite heroines ever. THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST READ!!!!
Book two of the Slay series continues the saga. Edward is keeping Camilla prisoner, what a arrogant b@stard! Yet some how I must keep reading. This proves the talent of Laurelin Paige to keep the reader hooked.
Edward Fasbender is my captor. Trapped on this island he owns everything on–including, it seems, me. He told me he would break me, but I thought he meant in the bedroom. It turns out Edward is playing a completely different game. This book would have to be one of the best books I have read in a long time, the detailed explanations of emotions and feelings is amazing and brilliant, the story line so full of twists and turns that is enthralling and addictive. The silent passion between the two characters seeps through the pages and into your soul. This has been a fantastic series so far and I cannot wait for the next book.
My thoughts on Celia in book one are completely different on how I feel about her now. I completely get now why she is the way she is. She’s been through so much trauma and although Edward seems to be a completely cold a**hole, he is very good at helping Celia with her past. I wasn’t expecting a lot of what happened in this book. I loved every second of it!

Edward and Celia holy cow!! The domination, the love, the heart break! You don’t want to miss this book!!
i am blown away!!!

I have nothing to say but WOW!!
I’m completely and utterly in love with Celia and Edward.
In the second book we find out that Edward didn’t go along with his plans. Thank god for that. In order to let Celia live, he had to keep her captive in his island and break her down.
To be honest I did not expect the way he intended to break her down, I thought that it would be in a sexual way, I mean according to what we saw in book one, it was pretty clear that Edward had special sexual tendencies, but I couldn’t be more surprised.
His breaking process felt more like THE GAME Celia and Hudson used to play, a mental breaking. He wanted to know about all the skeletons in her closet. It was quite surprising for me to see her submit to him, I mean that’s Celia we’re talking about but she surprised me and Edward by going along with it.
. , . .
At first I thought that he was uncovering her deepest darkest secrets to use them against her, but that’s not what happened at all. God I loved Edward sooo much, he definitely did not plan to fall in love with her but he did. And Celia brook, my heart, what she’s been through was heartbreaking, literally heartbreaking. I understand now why she was the way she was.
’ ?
’ . .
Edward brings out the best of her, I think all she ever wanted was to be loved for the person she really is. And as much as she hates being a captive in the island, a bigger part of her loves it. She feels as if she matters to Edward.
, , ’ , .
I loved this book sooo much. But I would’ve loved having more chapters in Edward’s POV, to see more of his perspective, but regardless, it was phenomenal!!!!!
My oh my all the answers I got in Ruin. The character development of Celia and Edward was fantastic. Slowly and meticulously executed. I didn’t know what to think and expect of Edward but he surprised me. In a positive way and so did Celia. At first he comes across as a ruthless, cold and dominant man but he has so many hidden sides he shows no one. Celia has being playing games for years and finally she meets a man that sees straight though her. She too has secrets and painful ones she will do anything not to reveal but Edward has other plans.
Edward wants to break her emotionally but being the feisty woman that Celia is it took some time for him to break through. She haS her own agenda as well as he. It’s truly fascinating how Edward went about breaking her down. It changes them both irrevocably. The way they view each other but most importantly themselves. That ending though!
I’m excited for book 3 – Revenge.
4 I Want Break You Down Stars
My Rating: *****
Type: Series. Book 2
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Narration: Single POV (Occasional chapters from Edwards POV)
Primary Characters: Celia & Edward
Note: Slay Two: Ruin is the second book in the Slay Quartet. Slay One: Rivalry should be read first. Book 1 ends with Cliffhanger.
Celia and Edward’s story continue exactly where book 1 ended. Edward has a plan. He never expected Celia to concede. He thought he knew what he was getting when he married her. He was surprised in every step. He needs control and submission. I expected totally different things from Celia. Definitely not cooperation. I was expecting her total true wicked colors will be brought out and Laurelin surprised me here and what she bought was different yet i loved it. As i already said in my previous review Edward is everything I wanted him to be and so much more!
Entire course of plan changes when Edward captivates Celia in a private Island and forces her hand to accept his rule and delve into her darkness. Celia thinks he wants to use that against her later at some point. Celia has to outwit and outlast Edward, her calculating and beautiful husband. Celia is wary of this in the beginning. She soon realizes she is exactly in the the position where she wants to be. She is happy to get that much of positive attention in life for first time. She desires for her husbands approval and acceptance. In this entire process Celia wrestles so much to understand herself and Edward was the break in to the cycle of Games Celia systematically played in the past. Finally both of them were redeemed. Its an intense emotional read.
Ruin is sexy, emotional, unexpectedly gritty, and shocking. I was totally shocked and later loved Edward’s Kink. I am Edward obsessed! I truly was hooked. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect after the end of book one, so this story surprised me. There are several secondary characters in this and yet, none of them play an important role, still, Joette and her family is sweet and they play a unique delightful role.
Overall, while this installment progressed their story immensely, I did feel like Slay. This sequel was a fast-paced, chemistry-filled, and a heart-racer of a read and its a gripping story that consumes its reader from beginning to end. Go ahead pick it and enjoy. Lets see how Revenge turns out.
Laurelin’s best!! Edward and Celia’s story continues and man, have we been dying to know what happens next! Are we actually Team Celia now? A MUST read! Especially for fans of the Fixed Series. I love Edward and Celia and can’t wait to read what’s next!
Loved it! Kept me on edge, with the threats, abandonment, sexual tension, fear, and desire. Edward is a man you could easily love to hate. And Celia already won that title. This book lets you inside Celia’s mind and heart to the fragile heart and strong will. You get only glimpses beyond the walls Edward has erected.
But I’ll be honest, the last chapters had me panicking. I kept thinking Noooooo! Yes, I might have even said it aloud. . Oh, Edward! Your heart is not made of stone!!
Another great narration!!
Part two of Celia and Edward’s story was interesting, and didn’t go the way I expected it to at all! I feel like I can’t say anything without giving away too many spoilers and ruining it, but I’ll try my best!
Celia learns a lot more about Edward, maybe he isn’t quite what she thought he was. Or maybe he’s worse. You’ll have to read to find out. She is tested in many ways, and struggles with being away from her family and friends on Edward’s private island.
Edward is determined to best Celia, and at times it seems like he doesn’t know her that well. By the end of the book you realize he knows more than he’s let on.
I can’t wait for the third installment!
