Three friends, who are closer than sisters, went spelunking in a cave on Campbell Ridge. As they were exploring they found 3 beautiful stones glowing under a rock so each girl took one of them home. In this way they became the Wards of Campbell Ridge and possessed not only an unworldly Creator given talent, but a protective angel. Throughout the book they will help each other with their problems as they use their special talents, which keeps the reader wondering what will happen next.
Five years later, as Ruby is working in a general store, two “hunks” walk in, who happen to be good friends of her brother’s, and leave Ruby speechless. Little does she know, that both of them would desire her because she’s beautiful, but which with one does she want to spend her life? Through many twists, turns, and heartaches, Ruby makes her choice. Ruby’s Choice is a fun book for a rainy afternoon that introduces each of the good friends in the series while focusing on Ruby. When you are finished this first boo, you will want to continue to the next ones.
Ruby’s Choice is the first book in the Ditch Lanes Diaries. originally intended to be a trilogy but has since become a series of four books. I loved this book because the characters were so very well developed that I felt a part of the story immediately. This story spoke to me an a very deep level and pulled me in fast and deep.
Ruby Jean and her friends, Anna and Sandy, have been friends since grade school, and at the summer after their senior year in high decided to take a hike up to a cave. This hike and their finds would begin to open their lives to what was always going to be.
If you have issues with religion, angels, demons as facts then this story can be read as just a fun, amusing story about three best friends and their futures other wise this story, for those who believe, will give some answers and many more questions.
I can and DO recommend this story and all those that follow in this series. Each can be read alone but for complete enjoyment I recommend reading all four.
Ruby’’s Choice and the Ditch Lane Series are a wonderful collection of great reads. Inspirational, romantic, tear jerker and much more. I read the last book, Lee’s Lesson, recently. Could not put it down! I can’t wait for D.F. Jones next book!!
I love this book the characters I really felt could be one of my friends which made it so I didn’t want to put it down. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.
Ruby is so fun and realistic that she reminds me of someone close to me who has “prophetic dreams of future events” . However, I found some of her decisions questionable. She comes out of a shower to find someone there watching her. Why she doesn’t smack him or ? But ?
A love story and a hint of the supernatural combine to create a good to read story.
I picked up Ruby’s Choice because the idea of cave spelunking caught my eye. Ruby and her friends begin this tale by going into a cave to search around and have some fun. It reminded me of Spelunking when I was younger, and in college. This fun paranormal romance reminded me of an easier time in my life, so it spoke to my heart.
I also appreciated that Ruby was in a bad situation with a few jerks and she found her way out of it. She was a strong female lead and didn’t back down. I like to see that in my female characters. Her strength is something we can all learn from.
I Loved This Book, It was hard to put it down, D.F. Jones Is a Fantastic Author, I Love her Books!
I was not very impressed by this book and the ending ruined an acceptable read. It could have been enjoyable had the author not been driven to end with a cheesy, candy-fluff final twist, had taken better care with the editing which worsens as the book progresses and had actually engaged with the morally dubious dating game the two male characters play. Furthermore, calling this a paranormal romance is misleading. It is romance. The paranormal aspects are superfluous and don’t actually add anything, rather they served to ruin the ending.
