Having my birth mother back in my life? To say it’s a big transition is an understatement. Especially when she’s basically a stranger to me, and I’m not sure yet whether I can trust her to be any more maternal than the average fearmancer parent (which, spoiler, isn’t much).Unfortunately, the other barons aren’t giving me time to ease into the situation. They’ve turned their sights on my fellow … my fellow scions and newfound lovers, putting them under fire from far too close to home. As if that wasn’t enough, an unsettling plan is unfolding that threatens every student on campus.
I’m starting to think there’s more at stake here at Villain Academy than I ever suspected. While I’m facing uncomfortable revelations at every turn, can I find the strength to protect everyone I care about?
Corrupt Alchemy is the sixth book in a university-age paranormal academy series. Expect magical villainy, a tough heroine who bends to no one’s will, a dollop of steam, and a slow-burn enemies-to-lovers reverse harem romance where there’ll be no choosing required.

I knew book 6 was going to break my heart because of the unknown with Connar but boy was I not ready!! He was one of my favs (along with Jude) so this was a big hit to my feelings but I knew things would turn out ok because Eva wouldn’t do us like that haha. I wont go into specifics because I don’t want to ruin it but the way Connar is manipulated is devastating and really hard to read after knowing how close he and Rory got. Loved how the others came together to destroy the hold on him and get everyone back on track. I ended up listening on and I was happy to see the person who did it to Connar get their just reward hahaha.
I loved the sexy scenes in this book, not gonna lie! I loved the group event and was sad Connar wasnt there but I really enjoyed their dynamic and how everyone was included, and Malcolm shows his tentativeness until Rory made sure he knew he was welcomed. And I have to say, the power the two can do that is faux touching is really hot (I would be mush if that could be done in really life, such a turn on haha). I liked how Rory and the guys opened up with one another, growing more as a pentacle but as a family.
Other things that were a highlight was Lillian finally getting some karmic justice, exciting to see Rory’s mom continue to spiral (made for a good plot). I think the hardest thing to listen to, which made me stop because I was getting emotional, was how Rory’s mom treated her/punished her. I am glad it wasnt all in vain, since she gained some allies along the way.
In terms of narration, I thought the narrators did a fabulous job as always. No complaints from me. I could feel the angst, pain, and love throughout the audiobook. 5/5 from me, these 2 are definitely on my 1-click narrator list.
Definitively recommend this series! This was probably my least favorite of the series, just because of what Connar was going through, but still a 4 stars! Already finished the series so gonna go review 7 and 8 shortly
Another excellent and entertaining read in a fabulous series, the intrigue continues to build, and shocking plot twists, this series is just too addictive, bring on the next book!
Roller-Coaster ride…
Wow WTH!?! Rory’s mom is freaking terrifying! Then Connar’s folks, too! Dayum, this book was up/down and just an all around scary/crazy fun read! Poor Rory doesn’t have any close friends any more and who the hell can she really trust, except her scions/boyfriends. ((deep sigh)) On to the next! #HappyReading
Another spectacular and riveting read that will keep you glued to your reading chair! Nothing is as it seems and one has to wonder just how Rory and her fellow scions will take down the barons! This is filled with heat, heart and at times even hate. The scions come together to face more challenges and more physical attacks. I’ve never wanted to see the baddies taken down quite so badly before! There is a moment, a perfectly executed scene that finally gives us a touch of justice, but will the cost be more than Rory is willing to pay? I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for the next edition! No one does suspense quite like Eva Chase! She is the queen of suspenseful scenes!!
I just binge read through the most recent two books of Eva Chase’s Royals of Villain Academy series and let me tell you: I’m totally exhausted but it was totally worth it. Foul Conjuring & Grim Witchery (Books 6&7) are quite frankly total blasts. Rory is a fantastic kick-a** leading lady and it’s bern a total pleasure following along through one exciting adventure after another as she gains in powers and experience. One heck of a fun rollercoaster and highly recommended.
Foul Conjuring is Book 6 in the Royals of Villain Academy by Eva Chase. This is an awesome series and Foul Conjuring just upped the tension and suspense. Connor has returned but his parent have done something to him as he is hostile to Rory. Will they be able to find out what happened and reverse it? The barons are still putting a plan in motion that Rory and the guys are determined to foil. There is a lot going on and it will be interesting to see what Author Copen has in store for Rory and Company in the next book in this series. I highly recommend this series but be sure to read then in order. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary review.
The story continues…one of her friend falls into negative magic, unexpected return of mother who was thought to have died…more danger and cruelty lurks as the scions band closer together. As usual, plenty of heat, action and plots… with slight bit of cliffhanger. Enjoyable to the last…
“Foul Conjuring” is another wonderful book in this amazing series by the talented Ms. Chase!
Rory’s birth mother is back but she’s a stranger to Rory and she doesn’t know if she can trust her yet.
The barons are still planning something big and Rory is still in the dark to their ultimate motive. Connar is under a spell and the scions don’t know if they have enough power to break it. There are also more Naries on campus and Rory’s afraid it’s not for the scholarships.
I can’t wait for the next book!
I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.
Royals of Villain Academy 6: Foul Conjuring

******** May Contain Some Spoilers ********
I will try my absolute best to keep spoilers to a minimum or completely out of my review. Sometimes it can be hard to do so.
There is so much going on in this book I don’t know were to begin. The whole Connar thing had my stomach in knots for around 75% of the book. Rory getting to know her birth mother had my emotions on a rollercoaster. When Rory’s mother decides she is going to punish Rory, I was seeing red I was so mad. Jude finally tells the guys his secret, which was about time. The plan Rory comes up with at the end has me excited about book 7! That is going to be interesting!
•••••• I highly recommend this book/series! ••••••
Yowza! By far the MOST suspense filled book in the series. With her mother back everything has been turned on its head. Nothing is as it seems. Rory and the guys don’t know who they can trust as a group. With recent events it seems nobody outside them is safe. But when one of their own starts acting completely out of the norm, they know they have to find a way to bring their usual self back. I’m sure with all the twists in this book, that Rory is now thankful for what she’d endured in previous books. After all it helped prepare her for the biggest fight to date. At least this time she wasn’t in it alone. Looks like things are gearing up to get nasty in the next book. Goodness knows what the elder actions have in store! Yet they’ve completely underestimated the younger actions and their determination. After all they’ve got something the older set don’t… Friendship and respect for each other. If a war is brewing, my money is on Rory and the younger scions. I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Seems the return of Rory’s mother has not caught her a break from her enemies and they have continued the onslaught. Adjusting to having a parent is also a new thing for her and will take some adjustment to work out how things are going to work between them. Now the fellow scions (and her lovers) are becoming targets of the barons too which is going to bring things into a whole new level of complication between them all. It then becomes apparent that the Baron’s latest plan for the whole community will threaten them all, their way of life, and everyone she cares about. Can Rory handle all of these complications and still keep her sanity (let alone protect those she cares about)??
Wow – this was full-on with all the plotting, setbacks and complications. I wondered how Rory managed to keep on top of everything and moving in the right direction but somehow she did. Well written and very enjoyable. It was clearly written and easy to understand. You need to have read the other books in the series in order to understand the underlying story.
