They come from two different worlds. Their love goes against centuries of tradition. But he doesn’t give a damn.MaggieThe royal family needs a tutor. Someone they can trust. Someone who isn’t swayed/distracted from their duties by working for royalty.I’m perfect for the position, since I don’t know the first thing about English royalty. My father needs money for medical bills, and I’m desperate.… father needs money for medical bills, and I’m desperate.
The children are charming, and when I meet their handsome older brother, Prince Edward, my heart skips a beat.
I may be the tutor. but he’s teaching more than I want to know about falling for the wrong man.
He’s a player, and I need this job so I try to stay away.

I’m expected to make the best match for my country.
But marriage has never interested me. I spend my nights cavorting with beautiful women from the most suitable families, always avoiding serious entanglements.
Then Maggie waltzes into our lives and turns my world upside down.
Everything I thought I wanted, everything that’s expected of me—
she makes me want to throw it all away for her.
The fact that she won’t let me near her only makes me desire her even more, and I’m a royal who doesn’t like to follow the rules.

3.5 Rounded Up To 4
Royally Schooled is a classic story. Commoner meets royal, but commoner doesn’t know who the royal is. They fall for each other. The truth is revealed with minor complications. The happy couple drive off into the sunset, metaphorically speaking. The end.
But, I knew going in exactly what this story was, and I read it regardless of the cliches and predictability. I very much enjoyed it, too. The characters were likeable, entertaining and engaging. Maggie(common) and Edward(royal) made me smile, and that’s all I wanted. I rooted for them, and I felt sympathetic toward their situation. Dialogue was snappy and witty. Granted, the technical stuff, narrative structure, syntax, verb tense, etc., could use some tweaking; however, it’s not terrible or anything like that (I’m just a nerd). There is heat between the main characters, but it’s just enough to keep things sexy without being overdone or ridiculous. While not every aspect is believable, does it have to be? I think a story read purely for a bit of delight requires a certain suspension of disbelief. The plot is well paced, and overall, this is a light fun read. It’s not cerebral, but if you’re like me, you need a break sometimes from all the literary weight. Give this one a go, and be charmed for a bit by Maggie and Edward.
The Crown Prince: A Contemporary Royal Christmas Romance was a good read by Amber Burns. Meghan find her long time boyfriend in bed with another woman. She decides to go on their non-refundable Christmas trip in Miami alone. But she finds a handsome man in the house she rented and he claims to be the owner. She doesn’t know why she stays,, but she can’t fight the attraction to him. Demetri had fled to his Miami house to get away from his father’s pressures. He is avoiding his responsibilities and didn’t expect to find Meghan. I really enjoyed reading Meghan and Demetri’s story and can’t wait to read more by the author.
Maggie is struggling under the pressure of mounting hospital bills. Her father has cancer and she spends her time working and caring for him. Then she applies for a job as a tutor, and the children turn out to be the children of the Queen of England. She meets Edward at the interview not realising he is the Prince of England. What a wonderful story. Loved it.
Almost like a Cinderella story but so much more. These two definitely struggle with their feelings for each other and don’t quite understand the way people on the other side of money act, but are able to find their common ground and love at the same time. I love the way this book ended leaving you wanting more with Drew’s story.
Prince Edward was so cute and charming! For a royal he was real down to earth. Loved their meet cute and each get together afterwards.Everything happened so quickly but it still felt like a true love story. I really enjoyed the story line and the great characters. Holly Holt, the narrator, did a fantastic job.
Maggie and Edward story wa a sweet little romance, Maggie trying to help her dad finds a job as the tutor for the younger prince and princess and Edward happens to be the older brother. It’s a good royal romance, where the royal falls for the commoner. I listened to the audiobook and Holly Holt did a good job narrating.
An excellent story. Through most of the story I didn’t think much of Edward. The one good thing I liked right from the start was that he never pretended to be anything but who he was. As the story continued, I could see him changing little by little. Maggie and Edward are perfect for each other. I look forward to more of this royal family.
Holly Holt did a fantastic job narrating. She really brought the story to life.
I recieved a free Audible copy of this story, at my request, in exchange for a honest review.
Maggie is hired as a tutor. She needs this job for her father’s medical bills. She will do everything she can to keep the job. Edward is a Prince who gets everything he wants. Rules were not made for him to follow. The attraction between these two is like two very strong magnets. As much as they try to stay away, they are drawn more and more to each other. I loved the push and pull of these two. Edward would do every thing he could to be close to Maggie, while Maggie did everything she could to avoid him. Throw in an overbearing mother and the problems begin. I loved everything about this story.
Holly Holt narrated this fun story. Ms. Holt brings out the desperation in Maggie. Maggie is a strong woman who has many responsibilities. Ms. Holt brings that out and helps the reader feel Maggie’s emotions and struggles. Ms Holt narrates Edward exactly as I expected him to be, spoiled and arrogant. Ms. Holt easily brings him to life. Holly Holt was the perfect narrator for this story.
Terrific Story & Audible ListenAn Enjoyable Delight!

This is my first McKenna James book and it will not be my last. I enjoyed her writing style, the characters and storylines she created. The story grabbed my attention right from the start and held it straight to the end. Her characters are well developed, Maggie an American living in London with her ill father is looking for a better paying job to help pay her Dad’s bills. She interviews for a tutoring job to find out it is for two children from the royal family. Edward, is the Royal Prince, he bumped into Maggie moments before the interviews for a tutor for his younger siblings started. He was to only monitor the interviews but when he saw Maggie he could not help but ask her some questions. He pushed for Maggie to get the job, stating she is not familiar with the Royal family so she had no hidden agenda to spy on them for the press. It was funny when she first saw him at the palace and still did not know who he was. Edward being the play that he is started to make his advances, only for her to decline. He continues to pursue until she finally gives in, he wants to get her out of his system, she just wants to have a one night stand. The two really clicked and start to develop feelings towards each other. Thinking a relationship could never be Maggie wants to end things. I loved how their story played out, also loved how good she was with her two students. It is too bad she was betrayed and all went haywire for her and for the Royals. This is a fast paced story, there is never a dull moment, with some good humor, drama, a bit of angst and a sweet romance. McKenna James thank you for this great story.
I listened to the Audible edition, Holly Holt is a wonderful narrator and voice performer. She brings these characters to life, gives each their own unique voice and personality. She does a great job with the different accents and switches character roles flawlessly without missing a beat. She is an entertaining storyteller and enhances the story another level. Thank you for this great listen
I have only read one other book by McKenna James, and I am truly impressed with the creation of her release, Royally Schooled. This storyline, while fictional, is incredibly realistic and easily envisioned.
Maggie is a devoted Daughter and primary care giver to her ailing Father. With the medical bills piling up, she needs a job… and fast. From the moment you start reading, you can not help but fall in love with Maggie’s character. After a devastating morning, Maggie heads out to get to her scheduled interview. We have all had mornings like the way hers was depicted. Spilled coffee on a gorgeous stranger? Yes. One of many interviewers, how can she stand out? Trust that she already does. Meeting an actual Prince? Yes; although it really is too bad that she had no idea. Edward is the first born to the Queen, as well as a real life playboy. So to watch as these two banter & butt heads only adds to the chemistry between them. Could the Prince actually fall for a ‘commoner ‘? Find out right here in this superbly designed book. I loved it.
I voluntarily requested an advanced reader’s copy of Royally Schooled in exchange for my honest & voluntarily given opinion and I highly recommend picking up this book.
3.5 for this debut romantic read by a writing duo. With a very sweet leading lady in Maggie, Royally Schooled is a traditional romance in many ways, and Maggie combines her kindness with a strong, kind heart and integrity. The romance with its royalty link is slightly more difficult in the sense that, for me, being a Brit, we already have a Prince Edward and it is difficult to separate out the fictitious royal family of the book, with our own. My problem I know, but it influenced how I read it.
Overall, a quick, easy read suitable for whiling away a few romantic hours.
Maggie and Edward come from different worlds. He’s a Prince with the world laid out at his feet. She’s a woman who carries the weight of the world on her shoulders. By chance is how they meet. She needs a job. He needs a tutor. What they find could be the undoing of years of tradition or the beginning of a forever kind of love. Royally Schooled feeds the fantasy of the heart. Though a tad cliched, James puts emotions at the center of a larger than life, slightly obvious, hard to resist fairytale and hits her target dead on.
Maggie’s in a rush to get to a job interview that pays so well it just might help get her out from under the medical bills that have piled up for her father’s cancer treatment. One false step and she spills her coffee on the gorgeous man behind her. He’s so kind to her and tells her not to worry about the mess, wondering if she recognizes him as Edward, Prince of England. He’s not used to people unaware of who he is and not fawning over his mere presence. He’s also very aware of her beauty, what a breath of fresh air she is and bids her a good day. Imagine her surprise when, as her interview begins, she looks up to see that same handsome man across the table from her. She didn’t know the details of the job, so she had no idea it was to tutor the royal children, Abigail and Andrew (Drew), a ten and twelve year old who are as precocious as they are smart. Edward smirks at her innocence and realizes he wants her around the palace, not only to tutor his siblings, but for himself to get to know better. After her initial embarrassment, Maggie comes to realize that she would like to get to know him, too, but he’s way out of her league! Their story is of a sweet and caring love that starts slowly but explodes with one night of passion. In typical royal fashion, Prince Edward is berated by the press when their love affair is discovered, but he vows that it’s not going to be the end of them. The conclusion to the story is beautiful and the epilogue is perfect. The pace, plot and characters all move steadily from the first page to the last. Highly recommended!
Enjoyable and entertaining book. Maggie is an American struggling to pay her fathers medical bills so is excited when she interviews for a job with the royal family. She’ll be tutoring a prince and princess between the ages of 10-12. Edward is the crown prince and expected to become king one day. He hates his duties as the future king so is a playboy instead. I love the way Maggie and Edward Met. Their both excellent characters as well as storyline. This is my first book by Ms. James but I look forward to future books. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review.
I loved this Prince/tutor romance with a twist! Maggie and Edward are an unlikely couple, especially since she has no idea who he is at first. This is sweet, soulful, with the right amount of sass and spice to suck you in!
