SUBJECT: Engagement Contract (Marked Confidential)From The Desk of His Royal Highness Prince ChristopherDear Emily, Thank you for joining me for dinner tonight. And for agreeing to my proposal, as ludicrous as it is. Desperate times call for fake engagements. At least in my family.I am attaching the contract we discussed. Our lawyers asked that I highlight the following clauses:•The engagement … the following clauses:
•The engagement shall last ninety days
•Both parties are to appear genuinely in love at all royal appearances
•Beyond required public displays of affection, there shall be no contact of any kind between the parties
The first half of your payment will be deposited into your account upon the signing of this contract. Be sure to note your ring size. We would like to make prompt delivery of the family emerald. The Queen and I thank you in advance for your discretion.
Cheers,
His Royal Highness Prince Christopher
P.S.—Sorry to hear about your divorce. Your ex sounds like a proper knob head.
P.P.S—You looked stunning tonight.

Very enjoyable read, great story, interesting characters and guaranteed HEA.
Always love reading books by Jessica Peterson and this is another good one. It’s almost as if he’d been waiting for her to find him again…so good.
loved reading it
Loved it.
While studying abroad in college, Emily spent one passionate night with her teaching assistant, Kit. But Kit isn’t just someone who grades papers in immaculate suits. He’s also third in line to the British crown. But one night was all they had before cutting ties for ten years.
Ten years later, Emily is an interior designer, but her business is going under, just like her marriage had, and a gig at Buckingham Palace may be her last. Crown Prince Kit hasn’t forgotten the green eyed beauty that captured his heart, but a family scandal needs to be buried under a news story, a better one for the press to be distracted by.
Emily needs money to save her business and Kit needs a fake fiancé to fool the people. One ironclad contract later and they’re both on their way to getting what they want. But when the contract ends, will they be able to go back to their old lives?
Kit made the book for me. Really, he was witty, charming, and full of feeling. I liked Emily well enough, although she sometimes was a little too complacent for me, but Kit was the best. He was really all I look for in a royal love interest from the fancy title and lineage to the romantic notions of love over duty. And did I mention the sex? Well, it was fantastic.
Overall, this book is great for all fake relationship, royal, and/or second change romance lovers out there. Happy reading!
Steamy sex scenes and a decent plot line to this HEA. A few annoying typos but not enough to distract from the story. A good read at 3.5 stars!
Romances with Royals are not usually my go to, in fact, I usually avoid them, but Jessica Peterson may have just changed my mind! This is a second chance, royal romance and I loved it.
Kit and Emily are so smoking hot together, once they let themselves be together, that I was afraid my kindle would melt. The secondary characters are a small part of the story but they make a big impact. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
Kit and Emily have another chance at love through a fake engagement. I love that they still have feelings for each other. I love a royal romance and this one does not disappoint. I love Emily’s fire and spirit and her determination to succeed. Humor and steam make this a fun read that I really enjoyed.
Sign me up for any royal series, and by Jessica!? Swoon, I’m obsessed! I loved Kit and Emily! For being a royal, they have a unique background and I loved them reconnecting. Both of them have gone through so much when the story picks up again and I especially love everything Emily has to overcome. She is such a strong, empowering character and I loved reading all about her. The chemistry her and Kit have jumps off the page! They are such interesting characters and how they mesh their worlds is beautiful.
Emily is in London and getting her degree her boyfriend luke cheated on her and she doesn’t know what to do. So her T.A. Prince kit asks her what he can do to help her. She boldly says him and it’s great till afterwards Luke calls and Emily chooses luke. Ten years later and a divorcee Emily is in London again and sees kit again. Only this time he’s asking her to be his fake fiancee to help his family. Can she do it? Or will her feelings for him come back? Great read.
I so did not like her for him. In fact I pretty much hated her through the entire book. I don’t see how he fell in love with her. The redeeming thing about this book was him. He’s so sweet and romantic. He was the perfect book boyfriend.
Such a sweet second chance read. Believable characters and a good story line!
4.5 Stars
I love a good royal story! This book is exactly that. I haven’t read a Jessica Peterson’s book before, so she was a new author to me. I liked her writing style and I’m definitely checking out her books in the future!
Having a Prince being a TA at a marketing class is something different. Prince Kit is Emily’s TA. There’s attraction between them but nothing can happen because of her lack of royal status. Kit is attracted to her because she doesn’t treat him differently (considering his royal status) and she’s fearless, smart and sexy as hell (his words!). Life and their pasts come between them and their relationship ends before it even started.
Now, ten years later, they meet again when Emily visits the palace for a project. She gets more than she came for. Kit proposes a fake engagement. He has a hard time trying not to get attached. However, Emily makes him not stand his loneliness anymore. They won’t be able to fight their feelings for long. Will things work out at last?
I really liked the story. The ending was both sweet and steamy and wrapped up the story beautifully!!
Let me start by saying I’m a sucker for a royal romance. Loved Prince Kit – handsome, sexy, but with a heart. Interested to read Rob & Aly’s story in book 2.
Kit and Emily a second chance romance. Yes it’s a royal romance. It also seems very timely for everything taking place with the current royals. It will make your heart skip a beat at times and make you think a lot about what transpires behind the doors of the castles. It also highlights what the non royal is facing.
While I was reading this book a song came into my mind, What You Won’t Do For Love by Bobby Caldwell. It pretty much sums up a lot of this story. Look it up after you read this book.
I don’t want to give anything away by talking too much about the story. You need to enjoy it for yourself.
This book is the first of a trilogy that you will fall in love with as well. It’s funny I read the second and third book before I read this one. My enjoyment wasn’t inhibited at all! In fact I reread the second and third books in the series. They’re all bloody brilliant!
I really enjoyed Janes story. She’s a princess who is over the type of guy she “should” be with. She’s already had a failed marriage to a man who was who she was expected to be with. When Charlie comes along, she’s very wary, but when he shows his real personality, she is a goner for him.
Charlie is a con man trying to get his brother and their family deli out of debt from a loan shark. He never gets too close to the person he is conning, until Jane.
This book had love, drama, and awesome characters. I’d recommend this book.
This is a great book. Charlie and Jane are great characters with a great chemistry. The author did a great job of allowing the reader into the heart and minds of both characters so you could really understand them, especially Charlie. I really felt for him in his struggle to figure out what was the right path.
The name of this series, Flings With Kings, made me really curious for this book. I’ve not read any of Jessica Petersons books before Royal Ruin and I have to say, I really enjoyed reading about Kit and Emily.
I love Emilys strenght, she’s a force of nature and even if her life was not like she pictured it, she is driven and ambitious.
Kit is really adorable and I love, that there’s finally a book where the male character doesn’t hide his feelings. And I mean all of them, including tears! Because they are not always a sign of weakness.
And against all odds the king gets his queen and I hope they live happily ever after
I am a huge sucker for second chance romance and this first book in the Flings with Kings series definitely didn’t disappoint!
Ten years after Emily chose the wrong man (in my opinion), she sees Kit again when she’s interviewing with his sister for a design project. Kit needs a fake fiancee, Emily needs money, it seems like the perfect match. Except that these two had real feelings for each other the first time around and expecting them not to come back was naive.
I loved Kit so much. He’s willing to sacrifice pretty much anything for his family and his country. As the future King, you can already see that he will make the most amazing ruler. I had a bit of a love-hate relationship with Emily. She’s independent, intelligent, but definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to matters of the heart. This is my first book by this author and it definitely won’t be the last. I love the writing style and can’t wait to read some of her backlist!!
Jane and Charlie’s story was sizzling from the first page.
Jane is a divorced princess. Charlie is a con. These two couldn’t be more different.
I loved Jane’s character. She was bold, brave, and always spoke her mind. She had been so damaged after her divorce, that she was out to prove she had found herself and didn’t need a man.
Charlie was family oriented, devoted, and hard working. He would do anything for his mom and brother. Even if it meant betraying the girl he loved.
Charlie and Jane’s story was super sweet and gradual. They loved each other even though neither one of them wanted it to happen. The chemistry between them was off the charts and you could tell they were meant to be together.
I cannot get enough of this royal family. They are so down to earth. Their Sunday dinners playing Monopoly are some of my favorite scenes. The banter and scheming that takes place is absolutely hilarious.
I am hoping Jack’s story is next. I cannot wait to see how his Whitney Houston moment turns out.
