Dear Jane,You’re a princess. I’m a thief. This isn’t a Disney movie. We never had a chance in hell of a happy ending. But I still wish I could have given you one. When we met, I had you pegged as a snob. All tiaras, polo matches and private jets. But you turned out to be the exact opposite. I fell for you the day we met.I lied to you about a lot of things. I don’t expect or deserve your … deserve your forgiveness. You’re too good for me. But I was always honest about my feelings for you.
I hope you’ll find true happiness one day.
I’m sorry—
Charlie
PS—don’t let your blackjack game go to crap. Practice it every day, all right?
The books in the THORNE MONARCHS series are STANDALONE stories and can be read in any order!
ROYAL RUIN: Kit & Emily’s book
ROYAL REBEL: Rob & Aly’s book
ROYAL ROGUE: Charlie & Jane’s book

I love this royal family!! When she was tricked into attending the Queen’s matchmaking event at the Royal Ascot, Jane never expected to meet someone like Charlie. Little did she know that Charlie was a con man, planning to steal a priceless Andy Warhol painting kept in her bedroom. Their connection was instant and Jane and Charlie were smoking hot together. Charlie’s con quickly fell by the wayside, and he was left with the dilemma of how to extricate himself from the con and his conning life without being found out and losing everything, so that he and Jane could be together. I have to admit that as i was reading the book, I wondered how Charlie’s history could be dealt with in a way that still allowed for a HEA….the resolution was ingenious and made a reunion between Jane and Charlie feasible and believable for the story. Loved seeing Kit & Emily and Rob and Aly and finding out what they have been up to, and looks like Jack may have his own love story soon too!
On the recommendation of a book friend, I decided to pick up this story to read. Now, this is a new-to-me author. Not read the blurb. Cracking open the spine on the pure recommendation of a friend.
In the middle of a series.
Now, if you know me, this is a no-no in the list of rules for being a ‘good reader’. But hells bells, it’s summer, let’s roll the dice and be rogue.
OH MY GOD SO GLAD I DID.
#TrueStory now I’ve picked up the rest of the series because >> hello – the storytelling is fantastic, entertaining and perfect for my hearts and unicorns HEA needs. Okay, before you roll your eyes and say “Yet another romance on the coat tails of #royal fever”. Yeah not the case and you will be surely disappointed if you skip this author. So about the story…
Charlie is the perfect bad boy with a heart of gold. Yes, he ‘shouldn’t’ do what he does, but seriously I’d let this character get away with murder because he is JUST THAT WONDERFUL. And Jane – she is everything – I mean EVERYTHING – I want in a modern heroine. Good head on her shoulders, isn’t a doormat although life could force it, know what she wants and most importantly needs. These are the two that come together not under the perfect of circumstances but are simple perfect for one another.
Jessica Peterson delivers a story that is entertaining, never heavy – just romance as it should be. I am glad I said yes on a whim because now I have found an author that I know I will get more than just romance but heart and head engaged to delight my soul. 5 out of 5 stars.
I AM IN LOVE WITH THESE DAMN ROYALS!!
Jane has given up on men. After having her heart broken by a man she trusted with her life, she’s decided she won’t ever let another man get that close to her. Then Charlie barrels into her upending everything decision she made for her future. She’s quickly falling for his charms, his goodness and can’t believe how real he is. But she doesn’t know he’s hiding a terrible secret; A secret that could end everything that has been brewing between the two of them.
Charlie is a conman through and through. It doesn’t matter that he does all that against his will, all that matters in the end is that he hurts people. His next target is Princess Jane and he did not see her coming. Surprised by her genuinity, he is enthralled by everything that is Jane. He expected her to be a stuck up brat but turns out she is the most beautiful soul he has ever known. Torn between his job and his heart, Charlie needs to pick one. No matter what, he’ll be the one left with a broken heart.
I NEED SOMEONE TO HOLD ME CUZ CHARLIE.
This was my first Jessica Peterson book and I’m so deliriously happy that I got to read her beautiful words.
Jane is my homegirl. I LOVE LOVE LOVE how real and beautiful and pure she is. I cannot tell you how easy it was for me to love her character. She isn’t perfect not at all. But she knows her faults and strengths and knows how to channel them in the right way. Honestly, I am in awe of her and just want to be best friends with her. I adore the way she loves with all her heart. It’s the purest thing in the World. She never backs down from what she wants and that makes her a badass.
Charlie is just a giant teddy bear who needs hugs all day everyday. This man is on my top ten favourite male protagonist list. I am not kidding, I would lay down my life for him if he was real. No questions asked. He was just a man in an impossible situation and just I want him to be protected from this cruel World at all costs. My heart broke for my baby and all his pain. *broken sobs* I am so elated he finally got his princess to love and cherish. HE IS MY BOO!!!!
I was so surprised and enthralled with this story. I read it in one sitting and am pretty sure I didn’t even blink. I adore the way Jessica portrayed the Royal Family, Usually, they are stuck up brats who hate everything in this World but NOPE the Thornes are just pure good beings and I can’t get enough of them.
I’m gonna read all the books in this series ASAP and then Jessica will love me forever. *evil laughter*
Book 3 in this series is another page turner for everyone who loves everything royal. I’ve never expected that Royal Rogue would be about Jane, I thought Jack will be the next Thorne to get his book and I’m really surprised I loved this story so much, because honestly, Jane never got my attention in book 1 and 2. But Jessica Peterson did it, she captured me with every word.
After her divorce princess Jane is broken, at least a little bit. She’s not into commitment anymore because she’s sure every man is a liar. And then she meets Charlie. At first he’s going to proof her wrong and then he’s going to proof her right. He’s charming, handsome and he treats Jane like a “normal” person. Not like a princess. Not like her ex husband did. But Charlie is not honest. To get free from a loanshark he has to make Jane fall in love with him and steal from her. But what he’s not expecting is to fall in love with the strong, beautiful and witty princess.
These two characters are adorable together, their connection is great and their banter so funny. I love how they are equals even if one is a royal and the other not. It’s so much fun to see how they grow together, how they fall in love and how they both want to be better humans. The sex scenes are extremely hot and plenty . And the whole Thorne clan is amazing.
Can’t wait for Jack’s story!
I kept wanting to read Jessica Peterson’s books, but #TBRproblems kept getting in the way so I jumped at the chance to read an ARC of her latest release, Royal Rogue. Although this was the third book in her Flings with Kings series, I didn’t feel as if I was starting at a disadvantage not having read the previous two. Characters from the other books do make several (important) cameos, but Peterson does a good job of setting the stage so the book reads as a standalone.
A princes and a con man certainly makes for an interesting premise. It could have verged on ridiculous, but Jane comes across as a real, down-to-earth person who’s just about had it with the restraints put upon her due to her status. And although Charlie is a thief, when it comes down to it, he’s just a guy trying to help keep his family business afloat and pick up the mess caused by his brother’s bad decision years ago.
Charlie was swoony and there’s plenty of steam, if that’s you thing. Now I just have to make time to read the first two books in the series!
Royal Rogue has all the makings of an adult Disney movie! You have been introduced to Jane and her family in the previous 2 Flings with Kings novels. She has had a hard life when it comes to love and is getting over a nasty divorce. In Royal Rogue, she is introduced to con man Charlie by her unsuspecting grandmother, the Queen. Love and lots of hot sexy times ensue as Charlie and Jane become closer involved. This story really tells the tale of a close knit family and sticking up for those you love! Jane deserves all the happiness in the world.
I have to admit, I was a little nervous about this book. A con man and a princess? Riiiiiight. That’ll never work. Guess what? Jessica Peterson worked that like you wouldn’t believe! Jane and Charlie had such great chemistry and a relationship that wasn’t just royal–it was real. Real emotion, real love, and yes, real heat. This was absolutely an unexpected treasure that I highly recommend!
Oh how I love a reformed bad boy! Charlie was swoon-worthy and is absolutely my favorite of all Jessica Peterson’s leading men. I adore Princess Jane- I love her spunk, love of whisky, and blackjack abilities. These two together were perfection. It was so much fun to get to see more of the royal family- who doesn’t love Monopoly cheaters? Such a fun bunch and Charlie fit right in. I loved Royal Rogue from beginning to end and can’t wait for the next book in the series.
Love a royal romance. I absolutely loved every second of this book. Love the story and writing. Couldn’t put it down. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
I am a HUGE Jessica Peterson fan, and what the other two books in the Flings with Kings series were lacking this one totally delivered. That is a strong heroine. Jane. Has. It. She isn’t compromising her morals, she is standing up for herself, she is true to herself, she isn’t bending to meet the hero’s demands.
Then there is Charlie, the tarnished hero. The big brother trying to “fix” his brother, Owen’s mistakes. (BTW, I could have killed Owen for a good chunk of this book) I wasn’t sure how this book would end, how they would take the impossible situation of Charlie’s mission to con Jane to, but it works. I am still kind of ehhh about it, but he did end up making the best of the situation. This book makes references to Aladdin, as it should as the stories are similar, just no tiger or cute monkey 😉
I have been a huge fan of Ms. Peterson’s since I found her Study Abroad Novels. She definitely has really stepped up her game with the Flings With Kings series! She has become one of my must read authors!
I first met Charlie and Jane when Ms. Peterson did a bedtime story in a Facebook group. I was instantly drawn to these characters. Charlie is a thief and I was wondering how she would craft a story for me to fall in love with this thief. She did an incredible job of creating such a vulnerable, caring man who truly hated who he was and what he had to do. I loved Charlie and fell hard for him.
Jane is a strong heroine who has been a little lost, but Charlie brings her back to life. She is the girl next door, even with her royal title. I loved her strength and determination.
Each of the books in this series can be read as a standalone, but it’s worth reading them all! This is a great cast of characters. The writing is perfect. Such a great read!
Two unusual main characters. Two people you’d never expect to fall in love. Jane is royalty. Yes, she’s a straight up princess. One with not the best track record when it comes to men. Charlie has a heart of gold, yet he’s a thief. Yes, he’s a straight up thief. I don’t want to give you much more than that, as I think it’s important to take the ride. Jessica weaves a tale and makes it quite possible for a thief to fall in love with a princess.
I also loved seeing glimpses of our favorite past couples. It’s even better than an epilogue when you can see them happy and in love later on in other books. Jessica continues to do a wonderful job bringing royals to life. They are imperfect humans, which makes relating to them easy.
Looking forward to the next installment
Royal Rogue is not your typical royal story, not your typical fairy tale.
I love Jane and how she’s had enough of bending to society. Flawed Charlie has issues (the biggest being that he’s a thief), but his lust and attraction for Jane make his sordid life more difficult.
This book is well written with swoony, likable characters, humor, banter, and steam. It takes a lot of talent to bring a couple like this together and to make it work, but this author does it well.
I have enjoyed all of the books in this series and cannot wait for the next one!
Modern day fairy tale with a twist. This is Jessica’s 3rd book in the Fling’s with King’s series and it’s the best one yet! Charlie is endearing, sweet, gorgeous, and in trouble with a loan shark. Jane is a princess – beautiful and still finding herself after her divorce. Charlie is trying to save his family – Jane just wants a good time. Although this book read like a fairy tale, it had some of the most realistic scenes I’ve ever read and left me wanting more. More Charlie. More Jane. More Jack… and everyone else!! I would definitely recommend this book. It took me into another world – in both an unrealistic and yet realistic way!
Jessica Peterson does it again! She sweeps us away into the already well-loved Royal family and makes us fall in love with a reluctant con man. Charlie owes the wrong people money thanks to this brother, the wrong guy offers to let them pay it off by doing con jobs for him. Charlie hates it but wants to keep his mom’s memory alive in their sandwich deli. Jane has been burned hard before. We’ve seen it in the past books and we’ve felt for her. Now she’s in charge of her own life and takes control of what she can. When the two meet sparks fly between them.
Jane is who we all think we’d be as a real princess. She’s down to Earth, she’s humble, and she works and uses her privilege to help underprivileged women. She is so perfect. Charlie is such a great guy and you can tell these cons are wearing on him. He gives his real self to Jane and falls in love with her. They both care and have such huge hearts. It was amazing seeing Jane finally get a man who deserves her.
I was quickly swept away in the royal romance and the con game. The writing was fantastic and the characters are so lovable. Jane was more than I was expecting and I’m so glad she got her happily ever after!
Royal Rogue by Jessica Peterson is such a sweet, adorable and steamy romance. This is Charlie and Jane’s story. I have been waiting for Princess Jane’s story since Royal Ruin. Royal Rogue features Jane our sweet royal princess and Charlie our sexy, steamy thief. Jane is strong and bold and caring and is leery of trusting another man after her failed marriage and Charlie is already deceiving her from the very start. Charlie starts this last con thinking he knows what Jane desires and expects from a man, but then he learns her and soon, starts to fall for her. That is when everything changes – there are twists and turns that had me hooked on Jane and Charlie’s love story. Royal Rogue was such a fantastic addition to the Flings with Kings series. The chemistry is hot and the connection is steamy. I enjoyed every moment in their love story and cannot wait to read Jack’s story next.
My Rating: 4.5 stars *****
“I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me.”
Every once in a while you’ll find a book where the story has the right mix of captivating, enticing, sexiness and endearing to get you hooked in a way that you’re stuck. It’s the rare occasion where I really wanna finish and know what happens to them, but I really, really really wanna drag the story as much as possible because they’re both so delicious I want to savor them. It’s like that first shot of whiskey. You want to swallow to feel the initial burn, and then you want to roll it in your mouth to identify each and every flavor.
Charlie and Jane are delicious. Rich, complex, bold flavors. Every time I finish one of the Fling With Kings books, I find myself in front of my favorite Thorne. Well, color me confused. I don’t know which one I like anymore!
As usual, Jessica Peterson does an amazing job at creating a story based on character development, building up the series in a crescendo that doesn’t disappoint!
Princess Jane and Charlie are the most unlikely couple. Charlie thinks she’s a “target” to get his brother and himself out of trouble. Princess Jane thinks Charlie is everything her ex wasn’t, but is leery because her ex was amazing at first. The connection between Jane and Charlie can be felt. Charlie realizes that Jane isn’t what he expected from a Princess and Jane opens her heart and realizes she’s in love with Charlie. Secrets are exposed and they have to fight for each other.
Jane and Charlie’s story was EVERYTHING I had hoped it would be. Jessica Peterson knocked it out of the park. Royal Rogue is a book you won’t want to put down.
You need Jane and Charlie in your life!!!
This was my first read from this author and I will be immediately grabbing the other two books in the series. I absolutely LOVED it!!!
You know when you go into a book with an expectation of what the story will be – we’ll I was expecting a light/fun Rom Com type read – I was wrong.
It definitely had plenty of laughs but there was so much more. I didn’t expect the level of emotions, I didn’t expect to get teary and I definitely didn’t expect the amazingly realistic chemistry between the two lead characters. It jumped off the page. Wowsa!!!
Charlie and Jane are two of the most genuine/believable characters I have read this year. Such a fantastic story – definitely recommend.
Just when I thought Rob was going to be my favorite Thorne sibling…….along comes Jane. I just love her. She completely surprised me from the get-go. She was a little vixen, a little naughty – and I liked it! A lot. She had gone through a lot in the past few years, and the public persona everyone had come to know wasn’t who she really was. It wasn’t until she met Charlie that she was able to truly find herself and live completely in the moment.
And Charlie……gah, this man is so swoony, that my heart melted more times than I could count. The dates, the thoughtfulness – seriously, he was too good to be true (as Jane thought many times). But my heart broke for Charlie knowing that he showed Jane his true self; yet he knew that it was going to eventually all fall apart.
These two together were absolutely magical and I loved every minute of their story. Royal Rogue was such a fantastic installment to the Flings with Kings series – definitely my favorite so far. I loved getting to know Jack a little bit too and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for him!
