Dear Jane,You’re a princess. I’m a thief. This isn’t a Disney movie. We never had a chance in hell of a happy ending. But I still wish I could have given you one. When we met, I had you pegged as a snob. All tiaras, polo matches and private jets. But you turned out to be the exact opposite. I fell for you the day we met.I lied to you about a lot of things. I don’t expect or deserve your … deserve your forgiveness. You’re too good for me. But I was always honest about my feelings for you.
I hope you’ll find true happiness one day.
I’m sorry—
Charlie

Very enjoyable read, great story, interesting characters and guaranteed HEA.
What happens when a con man falls in love with his mark???
Charlie and Jane are so wonderful! This book was great! I totally fell in love with Charlie . Jane is just about the sweetest princess ever! (I think probably a lot like Princess Diana). They both have trust issues, and walls built around their hearts.
And this Royal family is ridiculously entertaining. I haven’t read the other books in this series… But I’m going to very soon! I just love them all!!! They are all so funny and have great personalities!!! Everyone needs to get into this book ASAP!
Get ready to have your heart open up and your tears ducts overflow. This is the story of the princess and the rogue ( dishonest, unprincipled, con). I see the potential for a Hallmark or Lifetime movie.
Here’s the thing, everyone has their own story. What makes a con a con? What makes a princess different from the rest of the world? Looks can be very deceiving as we learn in every aspect of this story. Unfortunately, we all suffer from making preconceived opinions. This runs rampant in this book and we are all the better for it. Even though this is a very easy, and fast read, it brings a lot to the table, even delicious sandwiches! I don’t do spoilers so you have to read the book. However, I did get very hungry while reading. What you will learn is, as in real life, each person has their own story that makes them who they are. Circumstances. can certainly dictate who we become but not necessarily who we really are.
This book made me laugh, tear up, swoon, smile and provided hope and lots of heat ( really good heat!). I know this may sound a little crazy but I loved the main characters names, Jane and Charlie. In case you’re wondering why, it’s because they were so normal which represents the characters personalities. Even though they came from different stations in life, at their very base they were normal! So uppity and villainous names were not required. Wether or not this was intended by the author I have no idea but that’s my spin on it.
You will fall in love with this story, and the characters, especially Charlie’s heart and depth. Jane, through all her trials and tribulations, is strong, all the while maintaining her femininity and feminism. Each individual has flaws and it’s very prevalent throughout the story. Even the secondary characters bring so much to the book. By the time the book is coming to it’s conclusion you will want to know what happens to them. Maybe we’ll get to read their stories. I’m hopeful.
I guess you can tell I really like this book. It went right to my heart. Kudos to the author.
This book. This book! I didn’t think I’d like it as much as the first 2 in the series and at first, I didn’t. But then, holy moly! Jane and Charlie were everything! This book put me through most every emotion known and a couple I didn’t even know about! It’s sweet and hot, angsty and calm, serious and swoony.
Jessica Peterson has become a one click author for me. If she has written it, I am readin’ it!
This book was a delightful surprise. Opposites attract. The princess and a con man. I loved guessing how it would all work out. I really wanted Jane to get the HEA she deserved but didn’t think was possible. I loved this book all the way through.
Wow, does Charlie have my heart! I loved Jane and Charlie’s story! Both have such amazing backstories and issues to overcome on their journey together. Even though I’d read this story before, I was still on the edge of my seat with what would happen! Jane is such a strong, independent woman (a trademark of all of Jessica’s stories!) and it makes her story so easy to read and fall in love with! And Charlie…swoon! He gave me all the feels! And together these two are just incredible! This is one story everyone should read…it’s just amazing and one you can read over and over again! It has all the whit, steam and amazing writing that Jessica is known for! One of my favorites!
I wasn’t sure about this book at first but once I got in to it I couldn’t put it down. The love story of a thief and a princess with a broken soul was heart warming, how they found each other’s true selves even behind all the lies, and even in the face of losing that love they managed to hold on great story.
Charlie is a con man. He had to be because his brother borrowed from a con man against his dead mother’s deli. When he gets the chance to get out of debt for stealing an Andy Warhol painting from the Royal Princess Jane he’s in. Only when he meets Jane , she’s nothing like the other rich woman he has conned. She’s different. Jane wants to find someone who knows the real her and doesn’t treat her like a princess like her ex husband Michael. Is Charlie the one? Or will he break her heart? Great read.
I was so lucky to win this book from one my book groups on Facebook. This was the first I read from Jessica Peterson and I have to say I enjoyed it. I am normally not a fan of hidden identities and the whole princess and thief is not my cup of tea, but I think it was the characters themselves that changed my mind.
Charlie is/was a thief but he did it for family, it was not for greed. He was the gruff alphaish Male, but he had this vulnerability and sweetness that was really enduring. It was actually painful to hear his thoughts on his deceit and witnessing his experiences with Jane and her family.
Jane was not the typical princess I normally read about in my romance books. She went through a horrible marriage and divorce and went out and tried to find herself. She’s feisty and so vixenish. When the two first meet you can feel the spark but because Charlie was expecting the hoity toity princess he acted like he thought he was supposed to and was shot down. Once the two did finally get together, oh my! That was pretty steamy for the first time lol.
I do need to be honest, I was kind of tense there for awhile because I was not sure how they were going to get their HEA. Jane had some major trust issues and thought she finally can trust herself, but we all knew Charlie was a con man, how can they live happily ever after?? I have to say, I liked it and it worked.
First let me start by saying that I love Jessica Peterson and devoured her Study Abroad Series (2 words: Rhys Maddox). So when she came out with the Flings with Kings Series I jumped in with both feet! Who doesn’t love, sexy, funny tales of royals, commoners and happily ever afters? While I thoroughly enjoyed each book in the series, I was anxious to read Princess Jane’s story and holy hell, this did not disappoint! Not your typical royal romance – Charlie is a conman and a thief and Jane is a divorced princess so from the get go I knew I was going to be in for one heck of a ride. I immediately fell in love with Charlie and Jane and their unconventional love story. Jessica’s writing style is so engaging and gives you all the feels. These characters were both flawed in their own way, but together they were truly magical. Charlie is swoon worthy and I loved the way he loved Jane. Rob & Aly as well as Kit & Em make an appearance in this latest installment, but Jane’s brother Jack stole the show. I seriously hope Jack gets how own book because he is absolutely delicious.
Jessica Peterson’s third book in the Flings With Kings series, Royal Rogue, was a perfect combination of love, heartbreak, and frustration.
Jane, a princess, and Charlie, a thief, are definitely not a pair to get together under normal pretense…but since Charlie’s next target is the royal family, there is no better way to get completely into his character than to charm his way into Jane’s heart.
This MUST READ story was funny, twisted, and full of heartbreak and struggles. I couldn’t put this book down once I started because I really wanted to know what would happen next through the whole thing! I literally had tears flowing because my heart broke while reading Royal Rogue. I also laughed out loud a few times as well. This was one of my favorite stories as far as royalty stories go. I LOVED IT!!! <3
A Conman and a Princess.
If you’re anything like me, you’re thinking how is this going to work?
The idea alone already lends itself to drama from the get go, and I have to admit I really didn’t think the author could pull this connection off, particularly with our dubious hero Charlie’s hardened, disgruntled anti-establishment attitude to the English aristocracy and life in general, and our regal heroine Jane’s already wounded and guarded heart.
This was going to be a battle royale (pun intended!) to see these two to an amicable finish line!
But all is not what it seems in the royal grounds, and even though this is the third book and the other characters have already been introduced in previous books, this is an easy to read and justified standalone, and these characters reveal more than their roguish playboy con and spoilt party princess exteriors as the game begins.
Ms Peterson handles her character progression beautifully, they are not rushed in their changing attitudes and developing trust of one another as their intimacy grows.
The added angst and sporadic comedy add depth to this story and ensure the validity of a hard won HEA.
It’s not hard to want to imagine the real English Royals being similar to these characters, to make that childhood dream of marrying our very own Prince Charming that little bit more believable and achievable.
This was my first book by Ms Peterson and I’ll definitely be having a few more Flings With Kings!
4 Royal Crowns
I loved that Jane and Charlie found each other and themselves. The character growth was great and I enjoyed falling in love with these two. There were a few predictable moments, but it didn’t change the story for me.
I would recommend this book.

Oh Jane. Perfect princess on the outside, lonely and questioning everything about herself on the inside. Having had her heart broken in spectacular, tabloid front page fashion, she pulls back to lick her wounds, dodging her grandmother’s matchmaking, putting on a happy face for her brothers’ newfound loves. Enter Charlie – American, brash, playing perfectly to her needs and wants. Once he enters her life, she finds a side of herself that she didn’t know she had. Rule breaking, dirty sexy (!), a little wild. What she doesn’t know is that he’s a con man. He has a heart of gold, but will it be enough?
Jessica Peterson steps out of her NA work from the wonderful Study Abroad series into a genre that is tough to conquer – royalty. Even more so, real royalty – British royalty. No imaginary country here! She carries it off with humor, heart and aplomb. Read all three – they are excellent. Each is a stand alone, but characters from the first two (Jane’s siblings) make appearances in this one and it will help you better understand the relationships. Not necessary, but why not!?
I truly enjoyed the love story between Charlie and Jane. I loved that Jane was trying to find herself after her divorce and Charlie couldn’t help but fall in love with the person she was. I loved the references to Aladdin, which is one of my favorite Disney movies. Great job Jessica Peterson, I can’t wait for your next book!
I loved this book! Jane is fantastic, she’s my favourite of the siblings I think. Her and Charlie were perfect together. It’s very well written and their HEA was well earned
This is Jessica Peterson’s 3rd book in the Flings with Kings series and I’ve fallen more in love with them as they go! Jane and Charlie’s story is full of humor and some angst which is exactly how I love my stories to be. I particularly love the family dynamics of this Royal Family and how they make such an effort to stay close to each other. Can’t wait to see what Jessica Peterson has in store for us next!
Great read. I thoroughly enjoyed Charlie and Jane’s story. I loved how dirty and yet sweet the story is. I loved the family aspect of the story and how much family means to the characters.
This third installment of Jessica Peterson’s Flings With Kings series is just as good as the first two—maybe even better. English Princess Jane and her American paramour Charlie are an appealing and sexy (oh my god SO sexy) couple and, once you willingly suspend your disbelief over the circumstances of the book, you will buy them together. And hey, if Meghan and Harry can do it, who’s to say others can’t?
HOT sex scenes and dreamy British settings aside, my favorite thing about this book is the way Ms. Peterson kept me guessing as to how the conflict would be resolved. We all (I assume—I know I do) read romance at least partly because we love a HEA. I get annoyed if the path to resolution is so obvious, you can see it coming from chapter three. Peterson kept me wondering for most of the book: HOW would Jane and Charlie get past their roadblocks? The way they do it is satisfying, and consistent with the characters.
I had a few ~very~ small issues with missed Brit-isms, if you will. Jane and other Brits use the term “asshole” when every English person I know (except my mother-in-law, who is too proper!) would say “arsehole.” And I love the Thorne family tradition of Sunday Monopoly, but they must have been using an American version which featured, for example, Park Place instead of the British Park Lane. Like I said, really insignificant things in the grand scheme, but it took me out of the story a little bit.
At its most basic, Royal Rogue is a moving, beautifully crafted story of a loving family accepting a lonely outsider. The fact that he’s welcomed to Buckingham Palace is icing on the cake!
**I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Royal Rogue (Flings With Kings Book 3) by Jessica Peterson is a contemporary romance told in alternating POV. This is the first book that I’ve read by this author, and although it’s the third in a series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. Having not read the other books first, I didn’t feel like I had missed out on anything. That being said, I will definitely go back and read them because this one was an absolute delight.
The love story between Princess Jane and Charlie the con man was refreshing and fun. The characters were complex, well-developed, and very loveable.
I was expecting this to be a super light story and was pleasantly surprised by the depth of emotion it contained. While there was humor, witty dialogue, and some scorching hot love scenes, there were also some genuinely sweet and touching moments that pull at your heartstrings.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story. It was fantastic, fresh, and fun! I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
