He’s a player. He’s cocky. He’s not exactly a prince. Only he technically is. Meet your new royal obsession in this addictive novel from New York Times bestselling author Tracy Wolff. Being rich opens a lot of doors. When you’re rich and royal, those doors lead to a new bedroom every night. I should know. The tabloids call me His Royal Hotness, Prince Kian of Wildemar. Women across the world … of Wildemar. Women across the world see me as a naughty fairy tale, an image I’m happy to indulge. As the spare to the heir, I’m the prince with none of the power . . . and all of the perks.
Then my twin brother is kidnapped, and suddenly I’m the one who could be king. The crown chasers start circling—and yet it’s a luscious waitress who catches my eye. With a smart mouth and the curves to back it up, Savannah Breslin is as brazen as I’d expect an American commoner to be.
But Savvy’s not interested in playing Cinderella. As sexy as she is, she’s no stranger to heartbreak. Besides, a nice guy wouldn’t drag her into all the drama that comes along with royalty. Lucky I’m not a nice guy. And, as it turns out, I might not even be her first prince. . . .

At the start of Royal Pain, Kian is the typical playboy and then meets Savvy. Their initial interaction were witty and quite funny with Savvy’s attitude and the banter between them, and I actually liked Savvy until she started to doubt everything. The he hasn’t called, will he call, oh, no he’s not going to call quickly became tedious, but I could’ve overlooked that. However, there were a few other things that I couldn’t overlook. The blurb does allude to the fact that Kian may not be Savvy’s first prince and I suppose I should’ve thought of it, but it didn’t occur to me that her first prince could be Kian’s brother. It’s bad enough that his brother is missing and possibly dead, but he then pursue’s this woman even after learning of her past relationship with his brother. For me, that part alone is a bit of an ick factor. Once our couple seals the deal, the story starts to go downhill at a rapid pace. Their marathon steamy times were repetitive and way over the top – I started skimming after around 20 pages on my Kindle on their first, umm, encounter, and skimmed the rest after that. One, in particular, was at least a couple of chapters long. I’m no prude and I do like a good steamy story, but once Kian and Savvy get together, there was very little story and lots and lots of getting together with Savvy freaking out over whether or not he’ll call in between.
I did finish the book, but not because I cared where the relationship was going. Honestly, I only wanted to see what happened to the brother, and that last bit of the book was the best of it for me. I understand that there is another His Royal Hotness novel coming, but if this one is any indication of what is to come, I think I’ll skip it.
I wasnt sure what to expect since the beginning of the book intro’d with a scene so hot I thought the book was going combust in my hands. Kian is definitely a Royal Hotness, but he is no match for a fiesty, shoot from the hip American that swoops in an charms his pants off. Savvy thought she was doing a good deed, simply trying to save him from the claws of social crown chasers. She had no idea that she would fall for such a man. Knowing his reputation, she immediately tries to back away from the instant chemistry they had, but Kian is persistant and manages to track her down. From there, its just a push and pull between these two, as they try to work through their dramas and secrets, but steam the pages in the process.
I liked aspects of this one, but that being said, it also had some issues for me. I’m giving this 3 out of 5 stars. This review is for an ARC, and reflects my honest opinion.
I did actually like Kian’s character for the most part. He was pretty much a self-proclaimed manwh*re, but we didn’t see a ton of that in the book since it focused on him and Savvy. I liked Savvy in the beginning; she seemed so confident, sarcastic, and smart. But later on she did a complete 180 personality-wise. And on that note, I didn’t like how Savvy second guessed Kian and his intentions…but the second he popped back up, everything was fine again.
There was a lot of repetition in this book, especially when they were getting intimate/making out. Honestly the author could have cut half of those scenes out, and the book would have been even better. And no matter how much sex Kian has had, I don’t think anyone has the kind of skills portrayed in this book. After their initial meetings and conversations, these two were pretty much focused on being intimate and nothing else. So it felt like the connection and feelings came way too early/easily.
It wasn’t a bad book, but I felt like it could have been great if some things had been done differently. That being said, I will be reading the next book in this series.
3.5. A good solid quick read. I always enjoy a Tracy Wolff story. On to Garrett….
Kian goes from being a playboy and “the spare” to Crown Prince in the blink of an eye when his twin brothe, Garrett, is kidnapped. For three agonizing months he’s been drowning in fear and sorrow over his brother’s plight yet having to put on his princely face and perform his princely duty. He’s just about reached his breaking point when Savvy stumbles, lierally, into his life. She goes from saving him from a handsy title seeking woman and her daughter to saving his sanity. Savannah Breslin has “been there, done a prince before” routine and it broke her heart. She wants to protect her heart but being with His Royal Hotness breaks down her defenses. In turn Savvy becomes his anchor in the tumultuous storm of his brother’s disappearance. Duty keeps calling Kian away and his brother is finally rescued it seems he’s pulled away from her more. Even though he’s told her he loves her, she believes that they will never have a future because she is an American commoner. So she runs away to protect herself and deal with her breaking heart. Kian finds her and declares his love again backing it up with proposing. It seems this time she will get her prince and her happily ever after.
Tracy Wolff did a great job in combining two storylines: the hot and heavy romance of Kian and Savvy and Kian’s journey through the kidnapping and rescue of Garrett. As Kian experiences the angst, anger, rage and impotence of not being able to find his twin, the reader experiences the poer of those feelings right along with him. The sizzle between Savvy and Kian is palpable and practically leaps of the page. I thoroughly enjoyed this romance and am looking forwarx to reading Garrett’s story..
A romance with thriller to match.
2.5 stars. I enjoyed the “Ethan Frost” series but not this one as much.
Character are ok, story line ok too. Dating and loving one brother then the other a little odd for me.
The inconsistent details drove me crazy. They distracted from the storyline. Then a quick ending. I’m not reading book 2. Glad I purchased this one on sale.
We’ve all heard the term “an Heir and the Spare” (just in case you haven’t it means, Two children – typically in reference to members of the monarchy or nobility, said to need two children, one to succeed to a title and the other to guarantee the family line should anything happen to the first) well this book is about Prince Kian, the spare, aka His Royal Hotness, and what happens to the spare if anything should happen to the Heir.
I have to say that I did enjoy Kian and Savvy together, I didn’t like that she was hiding something from him that she should have been upfront about at the very beginning. I LOVED Kian’s bodyguards, there was just something about the three men hired to protect the prince at all costs, they were down to earth and funny, not something you would expect from anyone in their position and that is probably why I enjoyed them so much.
Kian is your typical elite playboy but he steps up to the plate (for the most part) when it is expected of him. Savvy, although she was hiding a very big secret, was great. I loved Savvy’s spunky attitude and the way she kept Kian on his toes, they had great chemistry as well. My heart broke for everything Garrett went through and I look forward to reading his story in Royal Treatment which is due out April 2018.
This was a fun and sexy read and a good start to a new series by Tracy Wolff. If you enjoy stories where Royalty fall for commoners grab this book you will not be disappointed.
**I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book**
Royal Pain was an okay read. I expected the story to have more action than it did from the way it started, but some parts of this story was a bit slower that I expected. I absolutely loved the back and forth banter, the playfulness. the chemistry and the steamy scenes between Prince Kian and Savannah “Savvy.” However, as much as I loved their interaction, there were parts of the story that were just okay. I wasn’t consumed by this story or hooked by it. I liked the characters well enough, but I didn’t care much for the king and the way he treated both of his sons. Yes, they had huge responsibilities but he was a bit ruthless to me. Garrett accepting everything the way he did seemed a bit unbelievable but I guess it was good for Kian and Savvy. The ending was sweet and I really liked how Kian didn’t let his position control his life and what he wanted. I also would have liked an epilogue. It wasn’t a bad read, it was just an okay read for me.
3.5 stars–ROYAL PAIN is the first installment in Tracy Wolff’s contemporary, adult HIS ROYAL HOTNESS erotic, romance series. This is Prince Kian of Wildemar, and waitress Savannah Breslin’s story line.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Savvy and Kian) ROYAL PAIN follows the building relationship between Prince Kian of Wildemar, and commoner Savannah Brelsin. Weeks earlier Crown Prince Garrett of Wildemar, and Kian’s twin brother disappeared without a trace. Presumed kidnapped by an anti-monarchy group, Garrett’s whereabouts and safety are unknown. Enter Prince Kian, the spare to the heir’, and a man completely unprepared to ascend to the throne. A manwhore by reputation but a skilled member of the country’s military, Kian is all about partying and fun including his new found interest waitress Savannah Breslin. What ensues is the building relationship between Savannah and Kian; the search and rescue of Prince Garrett; and the potential fall out as Savannah struggles with her position in the Prince’s life.
ROYAL PAIN is a story of family; a dysfunctional family wherein the patriarch is all about position and presentation but a presentation that appears to place the people of Wildemar ahead of his own sons’ welfare but appearances can be deceiving. While the search continues for Prince Garrett, Prince Kian endeavors to mourn the potential loss of his brother as he drowns himself in Savannah Breslin.
The relationship between Savvy and Kian is one of immediate attraction, but an attraction that is complicated by Kian’s royal heritage, and Savannah’s history with a former love that is revealed very early into the story line premise. The $ex scenes are numerous, intimate and intense. Kian is desperate to bury the pain of his brother’s kidnapping with a woman who will not be accepted as a royal mate.
I had a difficult time connecting with the characters including the relationship between Kian and Savvy. I know there is a psychological explanation behind Kian’s need to seek comfort from Savannah Breslin but it is Savannah’s romantic history that is a bigger concern in spite of Kian’s need for our story line heroine. I am purposely being vague about Savannah’s past because it should have been a major point of conflict but was brushed over and accepted too easily and quickly. The premise is entertaining but it lacked the emotional ‘feels’ under the circumstance; the characters are superficial; the romance is energetic and edgy. I am looking forward to Garrett’s story-here’s hoping he is able to overcome the tragedy of his recent abduction.
