A great beginning to a new royal series, Royal Line
Suspenseful and steamy, this book keeps you on the edge of your seat, wondering who is/are the bad guy(s). It involves Kannon, the broody & stubborn owner of a security company, and London, an unhappy princess, with overprotective brothers. They meet in an unusual set of circumstances. Protecting is what Kannon does and he is up for the task when it comes to London. He doesn’t usually mix business with pleasure but London has him lowering his defenses and breaking his rules. They each have issues and neither is looking for a relationship but they cannot deny there are sparks and where there are sparks, there’s fire. With the danger surrounding London, can Kannon separate his feelings to protect London from danger, or will his feelings affect his ability to do his job?
Take this wild, fast-paced ride with Kannon, London, and the rest of the characters of this book. There is mystery, danger, passion, intrigue, and surprising twists. My only complaint is that I thought London should have made Kannon do a lot more groveling. I loved the epilogue and the teaser at the end. There’s a bonus epilogue as well! I can’t wait to read Breck & Sparrow’s book! This is a standalone with a HEA.
***ARC for an honest review.***
I gave this book five stars because it was awesome. Kannon and London were the perfect couple. I was wondering who was trying to kill London but was shocked to see who that was. I loved everything about the book. I am glad everything worked out. I am so excited to read more of Sparrow’s story. I see good things in her and Breck’s future. Good job ladies! Keep up the great work.
Being a HUGE Nana Malone fan, I jumped at the chance to read a new Royal book! I have never read anything by Carrie Ann Ryan, so I was unsure how their styles would work together, but I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. The main characters London and Kannon were each individually well established. London, a Princess, who’d rather be a Photojournalist, was stuck in between a rock and a hard place. Being the only answer to a Kingdom dilemma, the King and fellow other brothers decide to hid her away, BUT that’s where it all begins. When Kannon shows up in his unshakable protector persona and must rescue. Their attraction is instant, but they each have walls resurrected. Will attraction turned to lust then to love? If they find love, will it last? Guess you’ll have to read to find out. I must add that some of the supporting characters were plenty intriguing and I do home they get their own HEA. I’ll be watching and waiting.
Rating: 3.5 / 5 stars ½
Royal Line is an exciting read. Told from both main character’s POV – London Waterford and Kannon Adams, the writing is clear and concise, which is excellent for the mystery and steamy scenes. The POVs are clear, given that two writers are at work here. I have read both writers’ works in the past, and each has her distinct writing styles. I want to point out the style is fused well that I wouldn’t know where one author ends and another begins, which is impressive! The voices flow well, and readers will feel the differences in social status immediately on each scene change – inside vs. outside the palace aura.
Princess London Waterford of Alden is the youngest and is the fourth in line to the throne. She has no aspirations to be queen and instead wants to pursue a career outside of the palace and help the people that matter. She has three older brothers who are in line to rule, so she isn’t pressured to conform to the court until a small ruling law clause puts her and their family at risk of losing the crown.
I love the internal conflicts between London and Kannon. They both have undeniable chemistry but also is “duty-bound” to country and job, respectively. They realized how much they are missing without each other, and readers will keep hoping that their one-night encounter goes more than just one. They both needed so much control to “stay away” from each other, but it always backfires – funny and cute all the same time.
I enjoyed the suspense and mystery as Kannon, and his team try to solve who is hunting London while keeping her safe at the same time. Since I read mystery books often, I was able to assess the who, but the fascinating bit is the why’s and how’s, which was a good add-on for mystery readers like myself.
In summary, Royal Line is an excellent start to a new royals series that will appeal to romantic suspense and enemies to lovers tropes. The mystery plays second in the story versus the book’s romance aspect, so the writing and descriptions of scenes and interactions between the main characters will immediately grab readers. From start to finish, the suspense/mystery on who is after London will keep everyone “on edge.” This book is excellent escapism read with a dose of royalty and “who-done-it” thrown in the mix. It will surely delight and surprise readers.
Suspense, intrigue, royals, who done it, beautiful people and unbelievable sexiness all wrapped up in one fast paced book. What more could you ask for? The answer…. NOTHING else.
I read this book in one sitting. Why? Because I couldn’t put it down.
I admit I have read Nana Malone before but this is my first book by Carrie Ann Ryan. The funny thing is I thought this was going to be a trilogy. Imagine my surprise and delight when I realized it was one book. I must pay better attention!! I got to be an investigator on my own and not have to wait. YAY! I’m not going to tell you if I was right or wrong. You need to form your own conclusions.
London is THE Princess, a fierce woman in her own right. She’s more than feisty and can be a little intractable, with good reason.
Kannon is the head of his own security agency. He’s not just the head. HE’s THE guy who not just oversees but participates in the job. He gives his all. He’s intense in every way imaginable and he’s gorgeous. He has his own demons that he lives with on a daily basis.
Together these two are like magnets who want to stay away from each other but can’t.
They have a very intense “meet cute”, if you can call it that.
I will tell you to bring your fan or AC because the heat is on in every way imaginable, in mystery, intrigue, intensity and passion.
I also fell in love with London’s brothers. I can’t wait to see where their stories go.
As I said this is my first read by both these authors together. It will definitely not be my last!
This book went down like fine wine and decadent chocolate. It was so easy to read, so easy to fall in love with these characters, not just the main ones, but the side ones as well, that before I could blink, I was done. London and Kannon were wonderful people, a little messed up, but to be expected. Their chemistry was evident from the start, it overwhelmed them, and it rolled right over me too! We have suspense, action, daring rescues *swoon*, and everything you’d expect from a Royal story, including, falling for your bodyguard <3. There was intellect, wonderful, um, disagreements, and fragility wrapped in strength. It is no wonder I was hooked on the story, and now hooked on the series!
Great book!
Wow, such a fast paced book with lots of action, heat & surprises! Loved it!
What happens when you get 2 powerhouse authors collaboration on a new series? You get some damn good entertainment. I am a fan of both Nana Malone and Carrie Ann Ryan so this was an easy “must read” for me, add in that is is a royal story and you have a fan for life.
London, the Princess of Alden wants to be her own person with her own goals. Kannon, the “Thor-like” grumbly security consultant just wants to make it through each day under the weight if his own past. From the moment they meet, sparks fly, the banter is entertaining, and you know that this will be a great ride as the story unfolds. This is a couple that you know that fate had a hand in putting them both together and watching their love play out was so damn entertaining. I am excited for the brothers to get their stories.
“The pull. I’d felt it the moment I met him. The instant I’d wrapped my arms around his waist and let the scent of sandalwood envelop me. A fierce, raw connection kept us orbiting each other, and I wasn’t sure if either of us could get free.” ~ London
The team up of a mighty duo spells trouble in more ways then one. Royal Line is an action packed, thrill ride with a scorching hot romance at it’s center. Ryan and Malone double team the senses with an intensity that puts the heart on full alert. London and Kannon turn the fairytale ideal on it’s head to score a TKO of the emotional variety.
There are so many feelings I have with this book. I could not put it down. It is fantastic. An enjoyable read by far. So much going on from fun to hot chemistry to the mystery of who wants to harm London. What an incredible read. When London and Kannon first meet, in the ravine that she was just forced into, sparks were flying, and I do not mean her car. The back-and-forth jabs and humor between these two grabbed me and never let go. They are perfect for one another and could not be more opposite of one another. She is a princess, and he is an expert security guy. But there is that saying, opposites attract. And these two are definitely attracted to one another. I could not put this book down. There just are not enough words for how I felt reading this book. Besides the mystery of who wants her gone the chemistry between Kannon and London will burn up the sheets. A book that will have you feeling all the feels a 5-star story will give you.
Omg I loved this story. The banter between London and Kannon was fantastic. Although there were a few times I wanted to smack Kannon upside his head —in the best way possible . Thank God I have the week off because this was a I could not put the book down kind of night. My heart ached for Kannon and yet there was the hope for his future. And London….WOW. Kannon didn’t stand a chance. And oh what’s not to love about three over bearing, overprotective, princely brothers . I CANNOT WAIT FOR BOOK 2…yes I was shouting.
What a great story! I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started reading this book but I was drawn into the story with the Waterford family and the pomp and circumstance of Royal life. I really liked Princess London as a character and once she encountered Kannon, it was definitely game on. I loved the cat and mouse of trying to figure out who was behind everything going on, I thought I had it figured out and I was definitely right and I’m very happy that that individual got what they deserved. I also liked getting to know Sparrow and Olly as well as Princess London’s brothers. I was so happy the way this ended for Princess London and I’m definitely looking forward to the next book especially with the way this one ended with Breck and Sparrow.
This was an easy and steamy read. I loved London and Kannon. At first they started as strangers but little by little they started knowing each other and they had a lot of chemistry so I loved reading about how they tried to fight their feelings while trying to find who wanted to hurt London. Kannon was great, I loved how he always wanted to protect people and despite his past he always knew he needed to protect London.
I liked London too, she was a princess so she was expected to act as they asked but it was hard for her because she just wanted to live a normal life and do her job as a photographer.
She and Kannon had some great scenes together and despite their fighting they couldn’t deny their feelings for each other. They met in a short time but it was enough to know how they both felt and that they couldn’t stay away. So after all the drama, they finally got their HEA and I hope to read how they are in the next books.
This is the first book in the Tattered Royals series and I can’t wait to read more of London’s brothers. Next is Sparrow and Breck’s story and I can’t wait to see how it will unfold.
A solid first story in a new royal family series! Royal Line has an element of suspense but the romance is definitely the focus of the story. That being said I am curious about what the suspense in the next book could possibly be. This is not a cliffhanger! London & Kannon’s story does have an HEA at the end but it does set up for the second book. Looking forward to seeing what’s next!
4 star review Royal Line (Tattered Royals #1) by Carrie Ann Ryan & Nana Malone
Having read books from both Carrie Ann Ryan and Nana Malone I was excited to see what their collaboration was like. This was an entertaining, fast paced read that ticked a lot of boxes for me.
This is Princess London Waterford of Alden and security specialist and business owner Kannon Adams story. London is fourth in line to the throne and finding out that she or her siblings must produce an heir before turning thirty or the family will lose their right to the throne. Even worse she is being forced to marry to produce said heir. Knowing that her brother’s would do what they could to protect her, she flees.
Meeting up with the attractive and hot Kannon, London finds herself in need of his services. With Kannon protecting her, they will need to work together to uncover who is after her. The attraction between them is intense and they both struggle to ignore it.
I liked both characters and found them easy to relate too and although not a particularly long book, the authors packed a lot into it. However, there were times I was frustrated with both the main characters as they seemed to change their minds and feelings frequently.
I am excited to see what Ms. Ryan and Ms. Malone have in store for the series.
Light and sweet with a side of suspense, Royal Line is a quick and entertaining read.
It’s little like the book version of a blockbuster action film: with whirlwind attraction and chemistry leading to instalove, fast paced bullet flying action, a mysterious whodunit twist and a royal spin to boot. A simple, easy to read, feel good, fluffy story, that will leave you smiling.
4 stars and a wonton statue
This was such a great read! I enjoy both these authors and was very excited to see that they were going to be writing together and in my opinion, this book did not disappoint. The skillfully crafted blend of drama, danger, emotion, suspense, action and romance that is wrapped up in a royal ribbon was a real pleasure to read and I am very eager to read more entries in this new series. I thought that London and Kannon were quite likable and each had a genuine feel to them that made them easy to connect with. Neither was perfect but I couldn’t help believing that they were perfect for each other. I am freely posting a forthright review.
Passion sparks between the princess and the protector but is it just an illusion fed by adrenaline and fear or is it the stuff that makes up legends? When London tries to escape from an obscure royal obligation, all hell breaks loose. Forced off the road, shots fired and attempted kidnapping are just the start of her experiences. Can her new bodyguard keep her safe from the enemy unknown? Can the danger that follows her everywhere become the impetus for a new romance? Will royal duties take precedence over the heart’s desire?
I love a good Royal romance and book 1 has me hooked! No spoilers here! London is a very reluctant princess. She knows she will never have the throne and she is absolutely fine with that. She just wants to live her own life on her terms and she almost succeeds. There is always intrigue at the palace and now London is caught up in it. Her brothers have agreed, begrudgingly, to help her. Kannon runs one of the best security companies in the world and is used to spoiled royals, but nothing prepared him for London. He keeps saying she is just a woman to needs help and once he gets her to her destination he is done….until he’s drawn in by the danger, drama and whatever it is about her that he can’t get out of his head. They both have painful pasts and that both draws them closer and pushes them apart. I loved the backstabbing, drama, snark and passion and the glimpses into her brothers and best friends make for one fabulous book! I can’t wait for the next one!
Take one growly alpha male with heart wrenching baggage, put in his path a beautiful princess in danger and watch the fireworks fly. At first sight London might seem like a poor little rich girl, but her good heart and drive to be her own person makes her relatable and likeable. The storytelling brings these luscious European locales to life while our emotions are in turmoil at the will they or won’t they Kannon and London go through. A twist in the tale gives us an unexpected baddie, scary possibilities, and just how bad@$$ Kannon can be. Great start to a new series.
